If you've got more tattoos than teeth, you will be right at home here... Horrid flat warm beer and slow service with a scowl... What's not to love?
Food might be the bright spot if you can stomach the sideways flat brim still sticker on hat wearing douche nozzles that frequent this fake brewery. Must be a young scum of the earth meet up joint.
Best place around for a good glass of wine or beer and a pretty good sandwich, salad or dinner with a casual atmosphere. Â Good service. Â Death by Ciabatta appetizer, Mixed Cobb Salad and lunch special Penne Rustica are great choices. Â Light and sweet espresso martini is a great dessert ; )
Review Source:10 years ago Sbc  had very good food, and passable beer.  They made a Cobb Salad that was the best I have ever had, since then they have kept expanding the food is now small, mediocre and the passable beer is infected and undrinkable. Too bad they have more brewpubs than exist in the rest of the state combined.
Review Source:Tasty Interesting specials, good service.
We both had pasta dishes from the specials list which were moderately priced and very good. The manager came over a few times to chat with us and was very friendly.
I had the beer sampler, some were very good and some weren't to my taste.
We would go back again.
somebody needs to tell them that they don't have a clue how to brew beer. Â if you go, stick with bottles and mixed drinks. Â it's a shame... all that money invested in brewing equipment and they just fail outright. Â terrible beer. Â terrible beer. Â it's not good beer. Â it's very bad.
Review Source:I been to SBC for dinner, for drinks at night with friends and even private parties in the back so I think I have a good idea of this place. Food is not too bad however the size of the meals are on the small side.
As a Brewery I find there beers on the boring side. That's not the reason I would go to SBC. Other local brew bars are through out the New Haven area that are better. Night life is OK however I have seen multiple fights inside and outside this place just about every time I have been there.
Good luck trying to get the bartenders attention. Takes awhile to get a drink even when they are not busy.
Good Luck!
I have eaten there twice and each time dissapointed. Â The first time I tried their fish & chips dipped in big head blond batter and their famous fries. Â The fish was over fried as was the chips. Â I had to mention it to the waiter, or break my teeth on the over cooked food. Â They happily brought me new fish, but did not replace the over cooked fries. Â My friend got new fries with her wrap....which was fine. Â In any case, the next batch of fish was perfect and the tarter sauce was wonderful. Â Still, my fries were tooth braking and i chose to spare me the dental bill. Â The second time I went, I got a hard to ruin hamburger and I suppose I got the fries...tho I am not certain. Â In anycase, my teeth are still intack and for this I am grateful. Â I am not in a rush to get back there.
Review Source:Generally speaking, SBC is a mediocre local chain, which isn't much of a compliment, but it's still better than the less-than-mediocre national chains.
The one in Branford is really no better than any of the others in terms of beer, and the beer at SBC is pretty boring. You're better off going with one of the beer flights. This way you can discover which one of the beers you like best. Of course, every time I go, I always forget which beer I liked the last time I was there, because there's really nothing special or memorable about any of them (except for the really bad ones, like some of the fruit ales they come up with which can just be NASTY).
The food at Branford I actually think is better than at some of the other locations. Not so much the regular menu, but the specials. I actually had a really good osso bucco here once. Totally shocked the hell out of me.
Stay away from the ribs, though. They really aren't good at all, and that's saying something, because I don't know if I've ever met ribs I didn't like.
