This is a burger place I go to when I want a sit down meal with a diner style feel. Â I've never had a bad burger, and tonight I also had soup with it (Vegetable Beef). Â Their burgers themselves are very good, and tonight I had one of the mushroom and swiss variety. Â They do serve generous portions of french fries and its free refills on the pop.
Cool place close to home for great comfort food...oh yea their soups are good too.
I would have gotten more satisfaction if someone punched me in the gut while taking $20.00 from my wallet in the parking lot.
I got there an hour after opening on last Sunday. The entire staff (clad in basketball shorts and old T-shirts - very unprofessional) was lounging around and quickly dispersed at my arrival. I was seated and ordered a single cheese burger, Irish Fries, and a soda.
My first impression - Everything is filthy. The floors, windows, booths, silverware... Instead of sitting on their duffs - The staff could clean something. I was the only person in this business for obvious reasons until another poor soul wandered in shortly after.
The food arrived and I was underwhelmed. This burger was overcooked, the Irish fries became soggy immediately. At least the Green River soda was refreshing. All of this enjoyment for $16.00 out of the door. Â I could have gotten a better meal at Wendy's for $6.00 with no tip expected. Â I don't mind paying $25 for a burger (Rockit) as long as the quality is there. Â
As a farewell surprise, I got stomach cramps 20 minutes later as I was driving back to the city requiring an emergency restroom stop on the south side near 79th street.
Ok I might have to finish this Review later.. but it was an amazing burger!!! I took my husband & Nephew the next time we went to horseshoe (it is a mile east on Indianapolis blvd).
they loved it. I have a picture of my heavenly burger..so hopefully I can post it soon.!It is your typical little diner. The day we were there we sat  by juke box and picked some tunes...the waitress was suprised it worked ..SO LUCKY US.  Yummy shakes, fresh burgers and some tunes! Great stop for a quick bite.
I cannot say enough good things about these burgers. Â Home made and just enough crispiness...just perfect. Â The service is always friendly too. Â May consider eating here at least once a week if the boyfriend didn't freak out at the thought of all that grease. Â The shakes are very good too.
Review Source:I love Schoops burgers... I mean they are hearty and handmade. Not that formed heated stuff you can get from burger king or Mcdonalds anytime.
My grandfather actually lives in Indiana and we went to try it after deciding not to go to Horseshoe Casino to eat or dairy queen( which I also LOVE!!! and it right next door to schoop's).
I had a vanilla shake, Â cheese fries, triple chesse burger with everything, and the potato bite things (i forgot the name of the dish)... Perfect Food!!!
Love, love their burgers. Sure, its a bit on the pricey side 4 a burger but believe me they are really good. The portions are huge as well. We normally spend around $20 for 2 of us. The chili is really good, fries are good and the burgers are awesome. They make they're on burgers so they always come in different shapes and sizes. Its a good change from all the other burgers around. Definitely worth trying.
Review Source:Schoops is pretty popular in NW Indiana, but I can't say I'm a big fan of their burgers. Â Their burgers are typically too crispy and overdone for my taste and a bit pricy for a diner burger. Â I like their tuna melt for a change of menu, but again, a little on pricier side for a diner meal.
Review Source:This place does have excellent burgers but I have one suggestion for them... Â PLEASE MELT THE CHEESE ON THE CHEESEBURGERS. Â I find it incredibly annoying to open up the bun on my "Micky" Â and see 2 cold pieces of cheese staring up at me. Â This has happened numerous times and I'm tired of asking the waitresses to remedy this situation. Â Everything else is great.
