Scotty's has really went downhill in the past year. Â They have gotten rid of a lot of their best beers and replaced them with their own "Three Wise Men" that they brew in Indianapolis. Â Also, they have recently changed their menu and gotten rid of many of their good items (ribs, mashed potatoes and a lot of their sides). Â They have also changed their macaroni and cheese, which is now awful and raised the prices of their pitchers on Tuesdays. Â
Want to fix this Mr. Wise? Â Bring back Three Floyd's Beer, go back to your old menu, and change the price of your pitchers on Tuesdays. Â I've been going here for years with my parents and the last visit they assured me this would no longer be "the place" we choose to eat at when they visit.
This place has great "bar food". Â They serve Sprecker's root beer on tap (awesome). Â My favorite thing here is a burger I think they call the Sherman. Â It has jalapeno peppers, cheese, and peanut butter (yes, peanut butter). Â I just had to try it and now I find myself craving it.
The staff is very good and they do whatever is necessary to make sure your happy. Â Oddly enough they are very family friendly. Â My 2.5 yr old grandson enjoys it.
Scotty's ! Where to begin. It is located in the village which is perfect. I used to walk here with my roommate and meet up with friends for half price apps and pitchers of blue moons.
The food is kinda pricy for college students so we would always make sure to go in time for half price appetizers to start and just fill up on that. If you are going to go this route too make sure you show up early or else you will be waiting a lonnngg time. Half Price Apps starts at 9pm so we would always try to show up at 7:45 or 8 and just drink until then. Looking back that sounds kinda crazy but Scotty's is filled with mostly college kids so its fun to socialize with everyone else before hitting Dill Street or the Locker Room.
In terms of food I thinks its so/so. I always get their loaded potato wedges or buffalo wings or chips and salsa. Their burgers and chicken sandwiches are pretty good too.
They have a huge menu so you are bound to find something you like. & they have outdoor seating which is nice during the summer. The service is always pretty good despite the huge crowds --the waitresses are always quick to return to your table and fill up your pitcher.
So I am back in the Muncie area and stopped in for dinner with a buddy from work. Â Same result as the last visit - excellent!! Â Friendly wait and bar staff, excellent beer selection (Bells Oberon - for the win!!) and great food. Â Also, need to add 1/2 price aps Monday-Thursday 3-6pm, Sunday-Thursday 9pm-close, and Friday-Saturday 10pm-close. Â Great spot in Muncie to have a good beverage and tasty food. Â I tried the Bison burger and it was delicious!
Review Source:Tried this place with a bunch of work colleagues while travelling to Muncie for business. I like the selection of beers on tap! I had the StrongBow and I loved it. I liked it so much that I had to have 2 talls :) Food was also good. I had the Southern Sirloin burger which loaded waffle fries. Both were really good...
Review Source:Flashback to college! While visiting back home (yeay Indiana) for Christmas, I couldn't not stop and eat at scotty's. Another place that has Strongbow on tap (sweet!) And awesome dillchips. It's great tasting food and with a more than simple bar menu. I always go for my standby, MoFo Cluck Lite (makes the chicken not fried) and waffle fries. They have tots which are also tasty.
There are good dailys and often check-in specials. Beer club looks fun, but I'm not too much into beer. Great place for chill time, games, and for group meetings (ha! But seriously, yes).
Nice selection of local beers as well as a good variety of foreign and domestics. Â The food was good, but nothing too special. Â Friendly servers and good atmosphere. Â I've only been here once, so the food may be better than I've said. Â Everything looked great. Â Definately a nice place to watch a football game at.
Review Source:Pretty decent food and service, though it took a while to be seated Amazing burgers and MAC and cheese, but appetizers were overpriced for what you got and the complexity of the dish. The overall atmosphere is kinda middle aged and we saw a few of my boyfriend's professor's while we waited, which I wasn't sure was a good sign or not.
Review Source:My experience at the Scotty's in Muncie has been hit or miss. The service can be extremely good or extremely bad -- I've had to wait more than a half hour before to pay my bill.
The food is pretty good, as a vegetarian I've enjoyed the quesadillas several times. The beverage selection is pretty extensive, although a bit pricey.
If you are looking for lots of seating, this place has it. It has a pretty good atmosphere for enjoying watching a sports game. The outdoor seating is great during the summer months.
Scotty's became my little Muncie spot. For being in the Village it kept itself apart from the craziness of the nightclubs and maintained its status as a restaurant/bar. They have a great drink list and a passport club where you can earn a plaque if you drink enough (only other place that does that is the Heorot downtown). The food is plentiful and very decently priced. The wait staff is great and attentive, but this place is probably better for 2 or more people to go to. They have great lunchtime specials and also happy hour. On nice days you can also choose between sitting inside or out on the patio where you can high five your best friends as they walk by on their way to class.
Review Source:I have to say off the bat, that I despise the decorative theme in this restaurant. There are pictures of Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong, etc. and those are just the trumpet players! They play absolutely no jazz, but instead have 3-4 televisions in your field of view at all times. It's a sport's bar/restaurant without the TGIF look. Â http://eweri.com/BSa - link to the restaurant's website.
The food is worth it though. I mean every time I've been there, I have had no complaints, and they have some decent beer deals, like pitchers of Dogfish Head 60 minute I.P.A. for 6-7 bucks. The burgers are king though, they actually have a section where customer's have submitted their unique recipes and they are without a doubt unique. I remember only a few detail's but the one that stuck out was the 'Shewman' which had peanut butter and some other off-the-wall ingredients. You won't be disappointed if you decide to eat there.
In typical hilarious fashion, Albertro hits the nail on the head. I did, in fact, take my father here for lunch for his birthday, and he loved it. "Middle aged and faux affluent" is the perfect way to describe the clientele. Couldn't have said it better.
They have Upland wheat on tap, or at least they did when I was here last, which wins them serious points in my book. The food was good, though nothing amazing. Standard fare for middle-aged, faux affluent hang-outs (that never gets old): burgers, wings, hearty soups, jalapeno poppers, that kind of thing.
It's pretty mainstream-feeling, but decent all the same.
Well, I liked this place a lot more when I ate meat. This place is so expensive and for no good reason - what I really cannot get over is the burger pricing. Wow - so progressive for offering that black bean burger, but why so much? I can buy the pack of six for cheaper. And I have to pay for the majority of the fixin's? That just really bums me out.
I like the dill chips, but that's not really giving Scotty's much credit because everything is better deep fried and dipped in ranch and/or horseradish. Which brings me to another point - you have to pay a buck (or around that!) for an extra vat of sauce. Don't blame me because you dish out too much ranch - I just need a little bit to wet my whistle. I don't think I should be punished for liking BOTH sauces, okay?
Rich, important, old people in the town go here to mingle, and there's the usual college crowd. YARRRT
The beer selection is good, if I remember correctly.
While almost everything here starts off frozen from a GFS bag, Scotty's is an ok place for you to take your parents for lunch. Â The crowd tends to be middle-aged and faux affluent, and the music and tv choices reflect that to a tee. Â
All desserts are made in-shop (the peanut butter pie is especially good), the burgers are actually pretty decent. Â The Domo Burger is a fantastic seared tuna steak topped with amazing FRESH guac. Â If you like it, ask me for the recipe. Â Seriously.
There are locations in Bloomington, West Lafayette, and two Indy branches, but Muncie is the flagship store. Â So, it's a chain, albeit a small one. Â
To recap, a little douchey, but solid American bar fare.
