I have been here 4 times. Great beer and view.  Food is average pub food.  Calamari was bland and the steamers were overpriced and tiny.   Decent burger.  Wait staff is friendly but service is very slow.   Would have given another star if service was better.
Eat somewhere else and go there for the beer and sunset.

I'm been here a few times with mixed experiences. Overall though, I really enjoy coming here; it's a pub, and you're going to get pub food. I've enjoyed every meal I've eaten here, although they are a little skimpy on the portions.

The beer selection however, is great--they have the full Sea Dog line as well as a rotating selection of local craft beers, how can you go wrong? Not to mention the views of the harbor and Boston skyline. Come here for the beer and view alone!

    Yea... what they said.

The views are stunning... especially outside on the deck. On a clear day you can see the Boston skyline and if you can't, you can settle for 180+ degrees of an ocean view.

But the food, well, skip it or accept that it's nothing memorable. Palatable? Sure. But not creative or incredibly interesting. I could go on for an entire paragraph telling you what they do wrong with their fish tacos, but I'll spare you. Except for this quick rant... I'd love more than 2-ounces (if that, total) of fish in my fish tacos and flour, fajita-size tortillas are just not appropriate for fish tacos. There I did it, I went on for a paragraph. Skip them. Unless you like a lot of cabbage -- they were generous with that.

Oh, but why did I really come here? I like Sea Dog beer. As a native Maine-ah, I made a bi-weekly pilgrammage to the Sea Dog Brew Pub in Brunswick, Maine back before the craft beer boom that made it available in my local haunts. But I still enjoy a Blue Paw Blueberry Ale on a warm day and a Stout or Porter when I'm in-touch with my darker side.

So, as it has been said before, come for the brews and views and leave your gourmet expectations at Nantasket beach.

This place is in an awesome location, great views of the Boston skyline in the distance, beautiful water views of the islands, cooling sea breezes, the lot.
As well as their own brews on tap they have an extensive beer list of the usual offerings, which is nice as some of these brew type places only offer their own concoctions.
Nice and airy feel, clean wooden furniture, nice outside deck.
Lets not spoil it by talking about the food.
Ok, just a quick note on the food, only tried the fish, I figured "on the water how bad could the fish and chips be"?
    Answer.
    Horrible.
Old grey wafer thin fish and the most pathetic batter I've ever seen.
I know fish and chips, and I know this, the tinkers son in Norwell is the king around here, the gauntlet is thrown, anyone want to pick it up?!
Other people around me got burgers and flat bread pizza which all looked decent, as did the mussels.
This is still a nice watering hole, I read on other reviews that the service was not that good, got to be honest we sat at the bar, so we didn't really have a problem, there seemed to be plenty of servers, all very young, even the hostess/manager looked very young, but they seemed to be doing ok.
Worth a stop in for a brew and an app, but head somewhere else for dinner.

Went here late-august for a pre-wedding family dinner during my FIRST visit to New England. Here is how my experience went...

Atmosphere: Great view from the inside out on the (hah-bah). We had a large table in the middle of the dining room, which was great, smack down right next to the bar. Was not bad not much to complain about. Got to see the sunset beautifully and was able to see Boston city outline, defintly a worthy view.

Food: Not a good selection of food at all. SOO MUCH FRIED FOODS (YUCK!) Would be nice if you guys can bring in some healthy food selections as well as seafood. The fried clams were to die for. Really fluffy batter and delicious! As well as the calamari was of my TOP 5! Thats a bold statement coming from a California girl like myself ;)

Service: The service was by far the worst. Actually the reason I had to take atleast 1 star off for. Sucks we had to tip her good, since we had a party over 8, we were automatically charged a 17% gratiuity (BUMMER!) We waited atleast 15 minutes for our check while our server was crowded around the bar socializing with the other servers. NOT COOL!

Beer: Some of the best beer I have had. I still dream about the Blueberry Beer with fresh blueberries floating on top. You have to try the Pumpkin-Spice Beer, it was literally like a dessert!

All in all it was a OK experience. Probably the better of the restaurants in Hull, MA but not the worst either from what I experienced during my visit to MA.

great view, good beer. service and food leave alot to be desired.

been to this place several times over the past two summer and have yet to be impressed by anything other than the sunset. it's really unfortunate, the space has such potential, but like most other great locations in hull, they rely on the view and dont put enough time and effort into the meals.

Calamari was inedible, rubbery and tasteless. burgers are okay, nothing special. mixed drinks have been weak and bland. wish i could rate this place higher....

I had to talk my boyfriend into trying this place so we thought we'd check out the menu before ordering.  After climbing a few flights of stairs, he didn't care what they offered, he wasn't going back down to find someplace else.  We were delighed!!  Definately pub food, but generous amounts and a beautiful view. Service was quick and friendly!!  I don't know if they have an elevator for older patrons, but that was the only drawback I could find.  Will definately go back again!

We had a lovely experience here and were pleasantly surprised.  Got to sit outside, gorgeous view and great service.  The fish tacos, sweet potato fries and buffalo wings were good, dinner size Caesar salad on the small size but good.  Kids had flatbread pizzas and enjoyed those.  A nice place for pub food with a view.  Much cleaner and better service than the restaurants on the beach.

I have been here twice, once for lunch an once for Sunday brunch. Both times I had wonderful experiences! The food is pub food and delicious at that. Really great burgers and appetizers. The beer selection is great as well as their mixed drinks. Their Sunday "Make your own Bloody Mary Bar" seemed neat although there were not many people in the restaurant, and the people we dined with seemed to be the only ones taking advantage. Neat concept, though!

The outdoor seating area has wonderful views of the ocean. This is a true hidden gem amongst the other popular eateries in the Nantasket area. A bit of a way away from the beach (you must drive to get here) but well worth it.

FYI: If you like beer, they have a mug club you can join. Cheaper beers and you get to use your own mug every time you go!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The view was lovely. Staff efficient and nice. The beer was quite good and the food was decent. I liked the atmosphere. I'd definitely go back, preferably for the sunset view of Boston again.

We had the blonde ale and it was a very good locally brewed ale. We liked blondes so no surprise really.

The food is pub food so don't expect anything fancy. But, do expect pub food. I had been craving Buffalo wings and while these satisfied my craving, they were only ok. Good sized meaty wings, but not hot enough for me. We also had the stuffed quahogs which were really good. Stuffed with Chorizo among other things. They were large and delicious.

We also shared an order of the fish & chips and it was the best thing we ate. The portion of fish was large, fresh and flaky. It was nicely fried and very crispy on the outside. The fries were also very good and plentiful. The cole slaw a bit lacking in flavor but most people don't really eat that anyway. I guess. I do, when it's good.

While there I saw mention of Sunday brunch with a make your own Bloody Mary bar so that's next on my list to try. I guess the sunset will have to wait. Or, maybe I'll show up for Sunday brunch and stay until sunset?

Husband and I recently moved to Hull from WA state where brew pubs are not only great brew but great food.  This one...not so much. Food was ok, not a locals place to go. A couple things that were disappointing. We were seated on the deck by our choice...a bit sunny but great view of the bay. Our table was very lopsided, so asked to move to another table that was empty with three chairs...wasn't allowed to do that because supposedly there was a waiting list for tables of 4???  So we held our glasses of drinks that wanted to slide off our table.  Before our food came..which took a long time, they were stacking chairs and putting tables away.  We ordered nachos with chicken...no chicken, hardly any cheese, but the Nachos were a pretty good size order. Onion rings were good but a small order for what you paid.  We were told the wings were grilled...but when we asked waitress...she said they use to be but not anymore.  May go back on Wed to try their wings for 50 cents each...but not going to be high on my list.

We came here on a beautiful afternoon around 4 and sat on the deck.  The view is spectacular over the bay.  Our waitress was very attentive.  I had the Gin Gimlet and my wife had the Moscow Mule, both of which were very delicious.  Astounded by the day and view, we settled in for 3 hours on the deck, watching the weather change and the boats sail by.  During this time we had 2 orders of steamers.  These were locally sourced, Scituate in this case, and very tasty.  The portions were a bit light (8 or so clams) and a bit pricy at $16.  But we enjoyed them, so that was fine.  We moved on to wines. The wine list is all domestic and short, but competent.  The Cupcake Chardonnay and Jekel Pinot Noir were both very good.  We finished our meal there with an order of Steak Tips with Garlic Green Beans and Fries.  This was also very good.  The Chef was kind enough to split this into two plates and we were charged only for one meal.  Very nice.   Our waitress was wonderful throughout, didn't rush us, and let us enjoy a very special time out on that lovely deck.  We plan to come back.

Went here for the first time with my boyfriend recently on a Friday night, expecting the place to be busy due to the location. Walked in and were seated immediately, surprised to see that the restaurant was mostly empty.

It didn't take long to figure out why. We waited 15 minutes and no waiter or waitress ever came to our table! When we got up to leave we got half-assed apologies from the two hostesses. Major disappointment.

The view was 5 stars. Out on the deck had a great evening view of the water and of Boston which is framed beautifully by the land masses on either side.

The craft style beers here are good too if not a bit pricey. Not that unusual because this isn't mass produced coors or budweisers, though those beers are available if  you choose.

Then menu looked good but the food under delivered. To me it lacked some actual taste. I had the calamari & the fish tacos. The calamari was very underwhelming as it had no real flavor to it and was on the chewy side. The fish tacos weren't anything special and definitely not as good as the fish tacos down the street at barefoot bob's. These tacos had a slaw the dominated the palate and unfortunately only provided a wet cold crunch.

The other downside? The porch is just too small and got very crowded on the Friday night I was visiting. Both in terms of density of tables and guests but also for the wait time for a table out there. It's such a gorgeous setting that's not surprising. The crowd both inside and out dissipated fairly early before 11 so this isn't really a late night hot spot. Again, judging on my one Friday night experience.

I'm definitely open to giving them a 2nd chance with the food and while mediocre this time I can see room for improvement. And the view will definitely get me back!

The Sea Dog sit on the Ocean, has great views, but I have to tell you it ends with the view. So the question is how much are you will to give up in service & quality for a good view because that's all the Sea Dog has to offer. Stay away from the Steak tips , your going to pay $16.95 for 4 steak tips ( that right 4) tucked in the corner of your plate with rest of your plate filled with French fries. And I must say the 4 steak tips I got were tuff and lacked flavor.  The fried claims were good but again portions small. I'm not a big eater, but I'm BIG on value and friendly attentive service is paramount. I can give up a little in quality (after all it is Pub food) but I'm not willing to sacrifice both for the sake of a good view. I can drink a blueberry beer anywhere. It's all about portion control so RUN

Sat down here for a few beers and some fried clams on a Saturday afternoon fresh off the beach. Although the atmosphere is upscale suburban and the other patrons were dressed as such, no one batted an eye at our sandy feet and moist bathing suits soaking through our t-shirts.
This is a very pretty location to enjoy a post-beach beverage and enjoy we did. I had the Windjammer Blonde Ale and it was delish. My dining partner had the Quadruple X IPA and was pleased with the choice--a dangerously drinkable high-octane beer.
We also ordered the fried clams appetizer. I'm probably showing my non-New England roots when I say this, but we were bummed by how gritty they were and did not enjoy them much.
I ordered a flight to console myself and was pleased to find that the Gollywobbler Brown and the blueberry flavored lager were excellent. The others were OK, but not really notable. Overall, a good way to prepare for sitting in traffic on the way back to Boston. :)

Friday, 2pm.  Sun shining.   Late lunch on the deck.  Breath taking view. Persuaded to try the sparkling pink lemonade cocktail (w vodka & raspberry puree).  Fresh & delicious!   Shared an order of fried pickles while we waited for our friend.   Crunchy, salty - just like a big mac but way better & no mystery meat.   Our server was knowledgeable and energetic.   Moved us to a shady table once we'd had enough of the bright sunshine.  I had the haddock sandwich, served on an onion roll. Again - fresh & delicious!     This is a great pub.  Not a gourmet restaurant.   Would love to go back on a stormy day to watch the waves.

What can I say that hasn't already been said probably not much. I'll just repeat what others have said. Great location, beautiful views.  Wait staff is pleasant but very slow with getting drinks, they have food runners so the food comes quickly you just end up waiting forever for a beer. And a strange thing happened twice I had probably 2 sips left in my beer glass and the waitress asked if she could take the glass. I'm like no I will finish my beer - so do I look cheap cause I won't let her take my not finished beer glass away or a lush 'cause it's good until the last drop? The truth is somewhere in the middle.  Food really bad. Ordered the chips and onion dip, chips tasted like Cape Cod chips and OK onion dip. Fish tacos next no favor at all. Took 2 bites of 1 taco and left the other 2 untouched. Waitress asked why I didn't eat them I told her they were really awful. She said Oh, I'm sorry. No offer for a replacement dish or to be taken off the bill I'm pretty sure she's  been told more than once the food is bad and probably are not allowed to offer replacement dishes or refunds. It was Hubbie's idea to come I warned him after reading the Yelps and now I will not let him forget that he took me to a restaurant I knew was bad before we got there.

Beer and view review only!  Have never eaten here, but I love the view, and the beer.  I actually wish it wasn't just seasonal because even in a September rain it was just cool to look out at that view. I'd love to see it in the middle of February.

Go and grab a pint and sit on the deck or as close to a window as possible.

We've been twice.  First time, we sat at the bar for drinks and the service was great.  But when we went out on the deck for the sunset and dinner, service rapidly declined.  The second time we went, we went straight out to the deck for dinner and told our waitress of the poor service last time.  The manager came over and promised to take good care of us, which she did.  Bottom line: Good food, average service, spectacular sunsets!

As the other reviews said, the location for this pub is its saving grace. There is a large outdoor patio that is right on the water and the views of the sun setting over the bay are stunning. If you're sitting with a beer on the patio, watching the sunrise, chances are that you have few things to complain about.
I've been here a few times since I grew up down the street and still have lots of friends in the area. Every time I go, I want it to be better. But they just can't seem to get their service in sync with what customers want. Almost every time that I want another beer, I have to sit for 10 minutes with an empty one before my need is noticed. I personally think that if a beer is below a quarter full, a refill should be on the way (or at least I should be asked if I want one).
The food is not bad, but not memorable. The buffalo wings were good, but how can you screw those up? I've had mussels there before too, that were good, but again, nothing noteworthy.
I would come back here again because it's just such a relaxing spot. If you go there without an agenda and don't mind a slow, lazy evening, you'll have a good time.

Beers are good and I really like the blueberry, but the food is just ok and the service is generally slow. They make a good burger, but who can't? The problem is you order a beer and a burger, get the beer, then the burger, then 30 minutes later you are asked if everything is ok and if you want anything else...meanwhile you have no beer, no water, no nothing, just poor service.

I keep my boat there and Bob and Mike couldn't be any more helpful and polite and they take some of the pains of owning a boat away but with the resturant so close I just wish it was better. It's gotten to the point, where we leave the marina to grab a sub at TD's down the street instead of just staying.

To summarize...keep your boat here, but eat somewhere else.

Stopped in here a few weeks ago before the Darius Rucker show. Absolutely great location over looking the water. So nice to watch the planes come in for a landing across the Boston Skyline.

So the positives first: Obviously the view and secondly the beer, especially the blueberry beer.Unfortunately, after that it falls off. The food really isn't that good here. I had a burger that was dry and honestly had a funny taste. Can't put my finger on it and I didn't get sick so I'll leave it at that.

My advice, go for a beer and the view but that's it.

Visited the pub last Sunday for the second and final visit.  First visit (2 weeks ago) was disappointing but I figured they were into the re-opening for the summer mode.  Went Sunday and they had a Jamaican Brunch.  Music was good (sole player) and the view is like all others described, great location.  Problem is the waitstaff is not properly trained and the food presentation is very poor.

Yeah, I agree with prior posts that it is a "beer joint" and the beer is good.  But if you offer food and charge a decent amount ($18.99 for a lobster roll), as a customer, you have a right to expect value.

Waitstaff, polite and helpful, but poorly trained.  The manager needs to make sure they understand the fundamentals of handling a table/customers.  Seated by the hostess and the table was a bit dirty and had a set-up for one, not two. (Half the restaurant was empty)  Hostess did not notice and had to remind the waitress.

Ordered an omelette and lobster roll.  Omelette was not properly cooked.  Over cooked on the outside and runny/raw on the inside.  (Probably cooked on a fire too hot.)  Had to send it back and got another.  Fruit salad came with the omlette and it was delivered in a cup half filled with liquid.  It was probably scooped out of a jar and they did not even drain the liquid.  Also, the fruit was soggy, not even close to fresh.

Lobster roll was a disappointment (tried it 2 weeks ago and had the same result).  There was a small amount of meat and it was mostly shredded lobster (like pulled pork).  The only chunk was from a claw and not the meaty part.  Also, it was served on cut bread that was soggy from the mayo in the lobster meat.

So, if you start by drinking lots of beer and have the munchies, anything will probably taste good.  if you don't drink alot and enjoy good food, this is a place with potential but needs to be managed with more focus on the staff and food.  Great location, but everything else needs fixing.

A great find off the main beach area of Nantasket. Clean, modern design with outdoor patio seating over the marina pier. Great selection of Sea Dog beers to choose from.  I had the Crabcake appetizer with the Windjammer Blonde Ale. Delicious!

The best thing about the Sea Dog is the location.  Situated on the quiet bay side, the restaurant provides a magnificent view.  The deck is a really awesome place to have some drinks but if you sit in doors, chances are you'll have a great view looking out the huge windows.

The beer is great, obviously, as that's what they do.  I've always been a fan of their Blueberry and everything else I've tried I liked.

The menu, like others mention, is mostly pub fare, so don't go expecting something that is unique or "inspired" or any type of "fusion" that is trendy right now.  However, if you're looking to go out and have a casual, relaxed meal with a really good (and filling) burger, then this is your place.  Bonus points because they offer sweet potato fries.

I like the Sea Dog.  The roof deck has awesome sunset views.  Beer is excellent.  I wish that they offered all of their selections every day.  I think the menu needs a little (not a lot) help.  They have te usual pub fare - the nachos are good.  Burgers are great.  I'd just like to see a little more variety.  Can't wait for them to reopen.

    Go hungry. Leave.

We anxiously awaited the opening of the Sea Dog Pub being how I love the beer. Drove from Braintree to Hull on July 5th in that Hull summer traffic to get there on the holiday weekend.

As soon as we walked in I was extremely impress with the decor and the view from everywhere was amazing!

And that's about where it ends. We sat at the rather small bar and waited 10 minutes (which is a lifetime in beer speak) to even be acknowledged. Along with 5 other new patrons. All of us laughed as the bar staff chatted amongst themselves. The bartender reluctantly helped the guy next to us and then decided she needed another gossip break.

As new patrons came in, it became laughable. Almost to the point we had to get up and get our own silverware, ice, napkins.

We've since went back thinking maybe they were still getting out the kinks. But nope. Kinks still firmly intact. WHEN you get served, the food is decent. But the "in a minute" (as in 'wait a damn minute') service makes it hard to enjoy.

Distract yourself with the spectacular views (and they are spectacular) for a long while. As long as your not on a schedule, you'll be fine.

I already had decided that SeaDog BlueBerry was the best Blueberry Beer I have had, and I have actually been to Wachusett's Brewery.  Wachusett is very good, as is Newport Storm, but I think SeaDog gets the balance of the blueberry to hops etc better.
We initially had trouble finding the place, not clearly remembering where the Hull "Alphabet Streets" began.  This actually occurs way up past (sob ! ) Paragon Park, by what the Old Colony Railroad called "Kenberma".
The view is very good.  One can see several Harbor Islands, Boston in the distance.  It is sort of in a working boat yard, if this sort of thing turns you on.
I got the SeaDog Blueberry, which as I said I knew I liked, and tried the SeaDog Porter Hazlenut, which was also excellent.
What a great place they have way up in NowhereLand.  My BBQ Burger was quite good, as was GrandMa's Buffalo Chicken Sandwhich.
Service was excellent from the young brunette, who was like on 3 Red Bulls and was mad washing windows between covers.
A three means I would go back, a Four means I would go out of my way to go back; this is a Four fer sure.

Having gone to college within walking distance of the sea dog in topsham, maine (go u-bears!) I have lots of sea dog love and was happy to find that they had a more local location, even if it's slightly oddly located. Fabulous view with a great deck. Good service, and very clean. Our food was good, and the beer as good as I remembered. We will be back here lots in the future.

I went here with my family on Sunday at about 5PM.  We were seated right away.  The view is nice, the service was on the slow side.  We ordered 2 burgers (mediocre) chicken fingers (very good, but they only gave me a tiny 2oz cup of the sauce?) crab cakes (pretty poor, they were small and tasted like the frozen kind, definitely didn't match the "bacon and peppar crusted" ones described in the menu) and mussels (those were excellent, very good broth and served with perfect cheesy garlic bread).  Based on my experience, I would say this is definitely a place to visit for the view and the beer.  I don't drink and I live in Hull- I see the view out my window- so I don't plan to go back unless I have guests in town.

what a phenomenal view from their outdoor seating area.

we stopped here on a beautiful beach day and was content to spend most of the afternoon on their deck sitting in the elastic spring seats staring off towards the boston skyline.  the marine-themed restaurant has only been open for two weeks, so not all their beer selections were available on draft yet.  we tried the three available [skipped the flight selections] and were pretty content.  the food was good, but nothing to write home about.

definitely would go back to enjoy the view with a few brews.

My husband, son and I went to the Sea Dog last night a little before 6pm; I'd heard mixed reviews from people I know who've been. We sat out on the deck, it's a beautiful view. The tables could stand to be a bit further apart, but that's just my preference. We ordered coconut shrimp and the clam chowder to share for appetizers. Let's start w/the shrimp - poorly presented; 5 little shrimp sitting on a white plate w/the sad little silver cup of watery, flavorless chili sauce in the center. (A mango/pineapple salsa would dress it up, add color and give it any kind of flavor, hopefully) The coconut wasn't golden or crisp as the menu stated - just chewy and blah. I felt bad those little crustaceans weren't shown any love by the chef. Thankfully the clam chowder shined and my 3 1/2 year old exclaimed it was "deeelicious"!

My husband ordered the BBQ cheeseburger, I got the tuna thai salad and my son got the fish and chips. The burger is HUGE and it was cooked perfectly; my son gobbled up the fish and I enjoyed the salad. I ordered the tuna medium and it was more rare than I would've liked but the freshness more than made up for it. Just a note to myself to order med/well next time.

I'm admittedly bitter about those shrimp; It's top 5 on my favorite summer appetizer list and was just so dissapointing...

If it's nice out, I'm eating outside. If there's a view of the water, all the better and almost anything is forgivable.  This is a nice new addition to Hull with great deck overlooking Sunset Bay Marina and the harbor.
Standard pub food with seafood, pasta, salads and burgers, including veggie burgers for us vegetarians. Really good draft beer selections.  Apparently this is a chain, which normally I avoid.  The other places are all in Maine.  Heavenly sitting outside in the sun with our beer, food, breeze and view.
