I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was not 5 star dining, but it was enough for me to day that it was good.

We started out ordering the boneless buffalo wings, which were great. I guess that I have sensitive taste buds because almost every spicy thing I try, it is is burning hot!

I just ordered a plain burger, definitely  nothing fancy. I recommend that If you get a burger, get it medium well because well done is very hard and dry. I love the type of bread they use for the burger, and the French fries are perfectly seasoned with salt.

The staff is very nice, but for some reason, they always seat you crammed next to everyone even when there is almost nobody at the restaurant.

In the end, the food was great, and the staff was excellent and kind. I look forward to coming back sometime.

Went here with a date and a couple of her coworkers.  Service was attentive, almost too attentive if that is a fault.  I ordered the open-faced rueben which was huge but delicious.  I ended up taking over half home.   The only reason why this place is not a 5 out of 5 was that we had to ask 4 times for water for the table.  If that is the biggest issue, than they are doing something right.

I dined here with my family a few days ago.  And the experience was thoroughly underwhelming.

I live in the area, and I'm always surprised by how packed the parking lot is at the Shannon Rose.  If they're that busy, they must be doing something right, huh?  And when I dropped by to pick up a gift card here I was very surprised to see just how much work and effort had been put into the decor.  I told my wife about it, and figured that we should get around to checking out the restaurant.

The restaurant is built around the bar.  And it definitely bears noting, because the bar is almost certainly what's driving business here, and not the food.  Be that as it may, the bar selection is very good.  However, given the number of seasonal brews that are being offered, the beer/drink menu should be up to date so that diners can find out just what those seasonal drink offerings include.

As for the food?  Frankly, it needs some work.  My wife and I shared a couple of appetizers:  the corned beef spring rolls, and the tater tots with bacon rashers and cheese.  The corned beef spring rolls were a pleasant surprise, with a mix of corned beef, potato & cabbage.  As for the tater tots?  They came to the table barely warm, and we sent them back to the kitchen.  When the replacement order came to the table it wasn't much warmer.  The cheese and bacon rashers were good, but the need to send the dish back to the kitchen was a serious disappointment.

For the entrees, I got a stuffed burger and my wife had the French dip sliders.  The sliders came across as inconsistent in preparation: some had cheese, others didn't.  And the stuffed burger with cheddar and onion got the Irish thing right, because it was surprisingly bland (aka UNDER SEASONED).

Service?  Our waitress was definitely attentive to our needs and handled the tater tot issue professionally.  But it also seemed that the restaurant was running on low staffing levels, because she was busy with a number of other tables.  When the manager came over to see how we were doing, it came across more like a due diligence call rather than to genuinely see how we were doing.

Now, remember how I mentioned the decor?  It's fantastic.  The woodwork of the bar is impeccable, and the furniture absolutely evokes the image of a pub from Ireland or Britain.  That's a great thing.  The not so good thing?  The way "SHANNON ROSE" is plastered all over the place in an overstated exercise in branding.  I can understand having pride in your business.  But the way it's been done here makes the diner think that the management is more interested in making the Shannon Rose into a national chain, ala the late Bennigans, than in providing a warm and inviting environment for dining.

We got what we expected and for that reason we were happy and we will return.

It's a large pub - burgers, sandwiches and salads not gourmet food but food that will hit the spot and something for everyone in your party on the menu.  The service was fine, the food was good and the place is clean and nicely decorated.

Two highlights for us were the GF menu and the kids menu written on the kids placemat.  They also gave us crayons for the little guy.  The waiter was also smart enough to bring the kids drink out right away instead of waiting for all the drinks to be ready.  In our case a happy 4 year old makes for a happy family.

Easy parking, easy on and off Rt 17 and easy food.
We will be back to try dinner and brunch.

Came thorough for St. Patty's Day! Super packed but always a great time. Have been to both Woodbridge & Clifton locations in the past and I have never had a bad experience.

The Shannon Rose just lost two stars.  The service here SUCKS!  I waited forever for my server to even greet me.  Then he took forever to come back around to check on me.  I could have served me a few more beers but I didn't have the time to wait on his slow ass.  They still have pretty good food and great beers on tab that you can only get in the Northeast.  They need to get their act together before I'll come back.

A friend and I stopped in here for a late lunch one Friday after a fantastic day at the spa next door (see my review for that). She chose one of the Guinness mixed beers and I decided to try to red velvet martini, because anything that tastes like cake is ok in my book. The drink arrived and looked a little...looked exactly like Pepto Bismol, which was a little disconcerting, but I drank it anyway. It was really sweet and really a dessert drink, and not as strong as most martinis I've had. One was enough. For my lunch, I decided on the Fish N Chips and my friend got the Guinness BBQ burger. The food arrived quickly and was well cooked. My friend's burger was cooked well done as requested and the sauce was really good. My fish and chips were also enjoyable, but under seasoned. I gave them a healthy dose of salt and malt vinegar and they were quite enjoyable after that. The breading was crisp and the fish itself was nicely cooked and juicy. We were pretty full, so of course, we decided to order dessert. I opted for the Bailey's Lady Fingers, and it was incredibly rich and creamy, but too much for me to finish. The cream-mascarpone mixture was very light and boozy, but definitely did a number on my stomach. My friend had one scoop of vanilla and one scoop of coffee ice cream, and it was actually a decent quality ice cream with a great creamy consistency. The service was pretty attentive as we went around 3:30 in the afternoon, and overall we enjoyed our food. I don't know that I'd make this a regular spot, or a specific destination, but it was definitely a good spot to grab a relaxed meal after our spa visit. I'd probably stop back if I was in the area again.

The beer was good. The food was ok.The service was HORRENDOUS. I have never in my life had such SLOW service.

They weren't busy by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, aside from us, there were only 2 other 4 tops seated and 3 people sitting at the bar. It took more than 20 minutes before our party of 5 was served our beverages and I can't even tell you how long it took for our food to come. Overall, our little lunch took over 2 hours. We skipped dessert (even though we were there for a birthday lunch) because a person is only allotted so many hours in a lifetime and we didn't want to waste another 2 in there. The waitress was nice enough and I doubt she was the source of ALL the issues but she probably didn't do much to diminish them.

I recommend you take your business somewhere else.

Disappointing dinner here last night.  I ordered a glass of wine and the glass was filthy.  Lipstick and multiple stains all over. Gross!  I told the waiter and he brought a new one.  ( hoping the wine was new too). My husband ordered their Guinness burger.  It had only a tiny bit of the "Guinness sauce" and was way over cooked .  He asked for medium rare and it was closer to well.  He didn't feel like waiting for a new one, but did mention it to  the waiter when he came back.  Waiter kind of grunted and walked away.  My daughter got potato skins.. Bland and average at best.  I got the steak sandwich.  The onions on it were not hot.  The blue cheese was more off on the side of the plate, and not melted at all.  The steak was good.  Their fries are pretty good as well.  We got the chocolate peanut butter pie and shared it.. Also tasty.  The beer selection for a pub isn't too great, according to my husband who knows his beers.  As we were getting ready to pay we heard our waiter reading specials to a table next to us.  We were never told there were any specials!  I think our waiter should have mentioned our dirty glass and over cooked burger to a manager and offered to comp our dessert.  I have been in the industry and a little apology and service goes a long way.  Won't be going back.  Too many other decent choices near by.

I just don't get it.  Honestly, I've even had better corned beef elsewhere.  Probably more than anything though, this "Irish" themed restaurant, has perhaps the worst beer selection I have ever seen outside of a chain restaurant.

They had this new burger with onions stuffed inside.  The onions were raw and flavorless.  The pesto mayo was awful and the bread they use for their burgers was dry.  The burger meat had no flavor.

The nachos were horrible.  They need to go to Houlihan's and learn what a real Tex/Mex Nachos taste like (Or Tequila Y Sal in Suffern for traditional).  And if someone is going to say, "It's an Irish restaurant...Why judge their nachos..."  Well then they shouldn't offer them.

The ambiance is beautiful so I go back for that every now and again but how people can frequent this place is beyond me.  There are too many good restaurants in the area that put love and care into their beer selection and are obsessed with consistency with their food quality.  To me, I take it like the owners of this place are too arrogant to care and that will ultimately hurt them one day.  I feel this way because  there is NO WAY they are tasting their products ongoing or working with their beer distributors to find new products to try.  It's a shame.

Good food. Nachos were a bit greasy. Burger is served on English muffin rather than bun.  A bit load. The entire restaurant is built around the bar area. Good for younger crowd and late night.

From my Thursday night college outings at other Shannon Rose locations, and other people comTparing the food to Applebee's, I didn't think I would like this place.  But to my surprise, I did.  I went there awhile ago, in November of 2011, so I don't quite remember what service was like.  But I don't remember it being bad, as many others on here have experienced.  I do remember that they had a pretty good selection of draft beers, albeit rather expensive ones, which didn't surprise me.  What also stood out, and the reason for this review, were the burgers.  My boyfriend and I split two burgers, the deep fried stuffed burger and one that had a fried egg.  The stuffed burger was awesome, in that disgustingly unhealthy but satisfyingly delicious way.  The other burger I think was okay, though I remember wishing that the fried egg oozed more yolk.  There were other items that sounded enticing too, despite my lack of interest in Irish cuisine.

Its an okay place, would not really rush to go back or really recommend it to anyone, maybe once for the experience

I think the thing that was the weirdest was the service, they must of really wanted us out of there.
We sat down with our menus. Not more than 2 minutes later, the waiter came wanted to take our entire order. We just ordered drinks and were like, please come back. He comes back and takes our orders
Then he bring us our food, and before we even start eating he comes back and asks, oh how is it.
He comes by again a few moments later and again asks about the food.
Then 5 minutes later, while I am halfway done with my food, he comes with the dessert menu!
And starts recommended the brownie sundae. I, with my burger being chewed in my mouth, was like oh okay thanks.

3 minutes later, he is at our table asking what we want to order for dessert. We have not even finished our meal, and he just gave us this menu a moment ago!

I kid you not, another 3 minutes later, he is back again. And I tell him again, oh no, still havent decided (still trying to finish my dinner!)

So then he comes back once more while I am just working on my fries (my date is still working on his dinner,  but whatever, I really dont want him annoying us anymore) , so I ask him, are you sure the brownie sundae is the best because these 3 options look delicious. and he goes, no no, brownie sundae is the best.

Well I order the brownie sundae, and my date is finishing up his fries when the dessert comes out. and it is basically placed on top of the dinner dishes sitting on our table...

Well, if that brownie sundae was the best the shannon rose had to offer... then stay away from the dessert because it wasn't that good. I could have saved my calories and gotten another Guinness instead.

My date got the pulled pork sandwich which he wasn't really a fan, it was okay.

My burger was decent, order the burger as a safety
The fries were McDonalds looking, and the McDonalds ones are better in that case!

Maybe i'll go back to at least try the shepherds pie

The Shannonm Rose is nicely appointed.  It uses some old school decorations/wall hangings to give that Irish Pub feel, but the place is modern, clean and bright.  Food took slightly longer than average, but wasn;t too bad.  In the meantime the service was good, as they were attentive to our table and patient with requests for extras such as lemons and sides of sauce.  Food was good.  Menu included what I would expect, plus some things I did not which was a huge surprise!  (French Dip sliders, burger topped with pulled pork, and of course the Murder Burger, where even the bun is deep fried.)  Not sure they need to be valet-only parking though.

We'd been wanting to try this place for a while now, and it always, always, seems busy.  We finally went last night.

My husband ordered the sliders and side of Dublin fries.  We were surprised there were five--until we saw how small they were.  Maybe two bites each.  Maybe.  Put all five together and it probably equals a burger, so I guess it's okay.  That being said, they were tasty.  The fries were really good--drizzled in ranch dressing and cheese with small bits of bacon.  Yum.

I was very excited for one of the stuffed burgers, but didn't want the onions.  The waiter said it was no problem to leave them out.  He came back a few minutes later and said they're already stuffed (does that mean the burgers are not made fresh??)  and they couldn't do one without onions.  So I ordered another burger, not a huge deal.
I admit I made a few changes and kind of combined things from a few different ones--a different bun, a different condiment, a different topping.  The burger came out with no bun.  I had to send it back to get the bun.  Then, because it didn't have a bun the first time around, there were no condiments on it (supposed to be the pesto mayo).  So I had to wait for that.

I agree with another reviewer about the wait staff--extremely inexperienced.  We never got napkins or a place setting so I had to ask for napkins.  I feel like the waiter should have noticed that, because we didn't have napkins, we didn't have silverware and he would bring us a set.  But he didn't--he just brought extra paper napkins.  So we had to also ask for silverware.  Our water glasses were empty for most of the meal and the waiter never noticed, although the glasses were sitting on the edge of the table.  When I asked for more water, he only brought back one for me and didn't bring any for my husband.

Similarly to another reviewer, also, the bathroom was very nearly out of soap.  This was at 6pm.  Obviously I don't know if they refilled, but it seems to be a pattern.

We may return for the food, because it was good.  But, overall, not a super great experience.

I have only made one visit to this restaurant so far but it left a good impression on me. I went on a Tuesday night around 8:30pm so it was not crowded at all. We were seated at the high top tables which are comfortable enough for two people for dinner but would be too small for larger parties (just be advised...I love high tops so I always choose them and then I usually don't have enough room). I found the decor and set up to be cosy and comfortable.

They have Leinenkugel Octoberfest right now which was super delish. I ordered shepard's pie and my boyfriend got corned beef and cabbage. I was very impressed with my dish - there was a lot and it was super yummy. Shepard's pie, or at least the one's I've tried, tend to be on the dry side but this was moist and had a little bit of beefy gravy. The veggies inside tasted fresh and the potatoes on top were creamy. My boyfriend said that this would be the place he'd go in the area for corned beef and cabbage, though I didn't try it myself, so I guess that's a thumbs-up there :)
We shared s'mores for dessert (what a novel idea) and both left with happy tummies...and happy wallets as the total bill was around $40.

I'm certain that I will be back for future visits! And our waitress, Lindsey, was fantastic :)

The best Irish decor I've ever seen.  Very friendly staff. There were a number of us so we had a chance to taste different dishes. Great fish and chips and Burgers! I don't remember what the chicken dish was called but the portion size was great and delicious too. A fun place to be.

Friendly service out on the patio. Too close to Rt 17 but too nice to sit inside.  Thought the portion of corned beef was a bit small and when I asked for veggies to replace potatoes I got exactly 3 broccoli florets.

I've been here twice, both to grab drinks and a little food with friends. The food was so-so. Once I had a panini, which was not that exciting flavor-wise, and the second time we shared a plate of nachos, which was standard. The drink menu is solid, with a lot on tap and good deals on Mondays. I did like the atmosphere, though, with great furniture and classy decor, but I can't see myself going again for a meal.

My brother loves this pub chain so we went for lunch. It was my first experience at a Shannon Rose and I'm not impressed. I ordered the Hangover Burger cooked medium. This burger has a fried egg and bacon on top... but my fried egg was basically a raw egg that spent 2 seconds on a grill top and wasn't flipped. The bacon was cooked, but still rather chewy. Then I bit into my burger and it seemed rather rare. After about 3 bites in I discovered it was flat out RAW inside (could still see the white fat of the meat from not reaching a cooking temperature. The outside of the burger was black and crispy. Seems their cook wasn't paying attention or simply doesn't know what he's doing. I pointed out the condition of my burger to our waiter (who appeared high or sick?), and he apologized and offered to have them make me a new one. I also ordered sweet potato fries, and they were good, but I could have done with half the salt they put on them.

This place looks cool and seems like it could do so much better, but today they definitely didn't hit the mark.

Don't come here for the food. I know the Irish aren't known for fine cuisine, but it was appalling.  My friend got a filet mignonette that looked and tasted like a hockey puck. He asked for no potatoes, but got a watery glob on his plate along with frozen broccoli.  My veggie wrap was good, but not spectacular.  I don't need to go again to eat. I'm not sure it's worth staying out late to wait for the band, because I would be toasted hanging out at the bar.

Went there last week for a late lunch. Wings appetizer was very good. The Guinness was fresh, but the glass struck me as oddly small, and was by no means a full pint. Had the ribs, and while they were falling off the bone, they were not hot off the grill, or out of the oven, more like lukewarm, but had good flavor. Fries were good and fresh from the fryer.  Coleslaw portion was less than 1/2 cup. Server seemed earnest enough, but inexperienced and easily confused. Nonetheless, he was attentive and food arrived promptly. The kid needs more experience, so I was understanding and forgiving. Dessert was very nice - some kind of ladyfinger thing. Great selection of Irish whiskeys. It wasn't very crowded when I went there, but I hear on the weekends it's really hard to find parking, and is a zoo inside. Loud bar scenes are not my style at all. I will go back, but only during the week for lunch, and would like to try some of the traditional Irish fare such as Shepherd's Pie. Perhaps I will update this review at some later time.

I went to Shannon Rose about a month and a half after it opened. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The food is decent, but nothing special. I also don't like the way they set up the dining rooms, it felt too closed in and cluttered. I probably would come back again to meet friends for a drink and occasional meal, just because it's close by.

I gave it 3 stars because I do like the atmsophere (clean...new)...BUT waaay too crowded for mediocre food.

I don't get it, do they rent cars to fill the parking lot? I'm not fan of all valet parking..for an irish pub? This isn't Hollywood.

I went here twice, and last time on St. Pat's day, and instead of doing their job, the wait staff told us that they were going to have "open seating"

What a mess! Drunken ppl all hovering over tables....and the food was average at best.

I may go back for a happy hour...but the valet, wait  for tables....I may be more inclined to go to the Houlihan's down the street.
    You've been warned.

Not too sure what all the fuss is about this place.  I stopped in for a business lunch and I got the turkey avocado wrap, my colleague had some prime rib sandwich.  The turkey in my wrap was gamey and tasted like it had been sitting around for several days.  The wrap itself was tiny and was served with a regular sized portion of tasteless fries.  My colleague's prime rib sandwich was greasy.  For some reason or another there was no salt or pepper on the table.  The place was half empty and the staff seemed a tad bored so they kept coming to the table asking how everything was.  I doubt I would ever come back.

Do not come here for the food. I've sampled their menu and had a few different items: all under sized, expensive, and disapponting. A friend of mine said it best; you can judge the quality of an "irish" restaurant by how good their corned beef is.  Here: salty, inedible, and disappointing. I work in the area and have asked for many opinions of it, unfortunately everyone has had the same thing to say.

This is Applebees meet's Irish-fare. Which isn't surprising as the owner runs many successful Applebees, but this place won't survive on their food.

The decor and beer selection on the other hand is top notch.  They have speciality nights were they'll have music, specials for teachers/service workers, craft beers.  All great.

Top notch appearance; lousy food.  Come here for Happy Hour and go grab a slice of pizza down the road when you're done.

Went  on a Sunday night. Place was crowded took two seats at the bar. An Irish pub not serving in pint classes, not a good sign. A 110z glass at pint prices. The Guinness was flat, waited a good ten minutes if I wanted another drink even though three bartenders were working. The Bluepoint was very good.

I had the spring rolls, which were more like cubes, bland and tasteless . The Dublin Burger came on a cold English muffin , burger was bland and dry. The Shepards pie was average nothing special. Dirty dishes left in front of us for a very long time.

It is an overhyped over priced average restaurant. There are better choices  on the highway. No reason to go to the Irish Applebees , thumbs down

I've been here several times since it has opened and haven't really had any problems. It is a fun place with a great atmosphere. I travelled to Ireland last spring and I like to describe the Shannon Rose to others as just like any pub in Ireland, except cleaner ;)

I've tried a lot of their Irish food on the menu and love it. My favorite is the corn beef and cabbage spring rolls. It's traditional Irish food with a twist.

There is also a nice selection of beers available and a few from local breweries like Defiant. I recommend getting the beer flights if you want to try a bunch of the different beers. It is four 8 oz. draft beers for about $5.50.

The only problems people have mentioned all seem to relate to how busy it is. It was really only packed on the weekends the first couple weeks, but it has since calmed down. Parking used to be difficult, but again there doesn't seem to be problems with it now. I've been in recently and found a parking spot up front and gotten a table and food right away. Weekdays are always the best days to go if you aren't a fan of crowds and Wednesdays and Sundays are Irish music nights which is fun.

Shannon Rose was a total disappointment!

The waitstaff is VERY inexperienced.  Our waiter seemed very confused.  He never provided silverware, refills or water - but he kept wanting to remove our plates when we were clearly still eating!

The food was less than average chair pub grub.

My major gripe is that there was no soap in the womens bathroom and there was no effort to replace it.  I wanted to wash my hands before eating fries/finger food with my hands.  I let the two female hosts know there was no soap and they just looked at each other.  When I checked after my meal if soap had been replenished (about 40 minutes later) --- it had not.  How were were the servers/cook staff washing their thanks???  I know this is a small detail BUT if they are not providing soap in the bathroom, what are they skipping in the kitchen??

The bar looked lively but we were seated in the "cottage" -- a dark annex with tons of tables but NO atmosphere whatsoever.  We asked to move and the young host seemed confused so we remained in the cottage.

    I will not be back.

Shannon Rose . . . its more like Shannon Blows!

We went for our second visit on what is customarily one of the busiest nights of the restaurant year: Valentine's Day.  Happily, our experience was a good one.  Our waitress was extremely attentive, and the food was superb.  We were asked by at least two managers if we were "happy," so we considered that a big plus.  Refills were offered quickly and in a timely matter.  Our one concern is that we specifically asked for the "bar area" so that we could be seated away from children, but it seemed as though there is no clear delineation between the "bar" and the "dining room" -- hence, children can be seated just about anywhere they want.  This is annoying to those of us who do not want to be subjected to continuous screeching and whining throughout our meals.  Please attend to this.  Finally, the single-stem roses for all the female patrons were a beautiful touch!  And start the trivia contests soon!

Second weekend since the grand opening and still packed (also went on a Saturday night), guess that's a good sign.  First impression was a good one!  Large area for dining and a big double sided bar with plenty of bar tenders.  Wait wasn't too bad for a Saturday night only 40 min.  I recommend if you are coming here for drinks only you come after 9:30 because the place is packed wall to wall and your rubbing shoulders at the bar with others who are waiting for tables.

Food was great and onion rings are a must as an appetizer.  Table service a little slow but I am sure they are just working out their kinks so I won't fault them for that.

Draft beers are about $6 a piece which is a bit more than I like to spend on a draft but they have a huge variety on tap.  Mixed drinks are about $8 which isn't bad.  Food is VERY reasonably priced.

The parking lot isn't big enough for how many patrons they can hold but they have a great valet service who does the job for you.  Despite being so busy and a Saturday night they had my car to me within about a min!  Talk about great service.

Glad I live close by, def a new fav :)

I visited on 1/16/12- MLK Jr. Day, which also happened to be their grand opening day.  I've been to all 3 Shannon Rose locations in NJ (the other two are in Clifton & Woodbridge) and this one is by far my favorite!  The decor inside is slightly nicer.  It's also brighter and cheerier and the layout of the tables makes more sense.

We were greeted by the friendliest woman ever- I'm assuming she was one of the owners but my boyfriend & I joked that she IS Shannon Rose because she was dressed in a green pant suit and had a lovely Irish accent.  She also thought I was her cousin's doppelganger, which is ironic since I'm not even close to Irish.  Even though there was a frenzy of people coming in and out and rushing about, we were quickly seated and our server came over soon after.

I ordered the Tuscan Turkey Panini with sweet potato fries and our server was able to accommodate my request for something other than white bread.  My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Burger with sweet potato fries.  We both absolutely loved our food.  I'm normally not even a big fan of the food choices at other Shannon Rose locations but this panini has changed my mind.

My boyfriend loved all the flat screen TVs plastered around the bar area and I loved that it wasn't so loud in there that you couldn't carry on a conversation with your dining partner *cough, cough, Clifton/Woodbridge locations, cough, cough!!*

Ladies, you'll be happy to know that everything about the restroom makes sense here.  Motion sensored sinks and paper towel dispensers and then a pull door with a garbage can directly behind it so you don't have to dirty up your hands on your way out.

On our way out "Shannon Rose" gave me a big hug and said she hopes to see us back soon.   And we WILL be back soon!  I'm hoping they have an outdoor area so we can come to this location over Clifton in the summer months as well.
