  Very good shrimp.I think calumet fisheries is better but this place is closer. Cash only.

  This has to be the best Shrimp house in Illinois. Even though this is a real hole in the wall restaurant, the shrimp are fresh  and large. The batter is crispy and just right. Not real bready like most shrimp houses. I've been to other shrimp houses like Goose Island and they just don't compare.

  Shrimp is one of those foods you might not think about having all the time, but gives cravings that are impossible to ignore. Unfortunately, it's hard to find places in town that serve fresh, delicious shrimp for those on the go. If you want all the joy of a shrimp dinner without the hassle of a sit-down restaurant, Shrimp Express is a must stop.
  
  They serve a select variety of other seafood (perch, catfish, etc.) but the star of Shrimp Express is, first and foremost, the shrimp. Succulent and sizable, their quality is what you would expect from good dine-in seafood restaurants in a convenient take-out package. Perfectly breaded and fried to order every time, it's no surprise that Shrimp Express has been a Calumet City favorite for years and years.
  
  There's even a drive-thru for shrimp-only orders. However, with consistently busy nights, it's not that much faster than ordering inside. And with wait times of 10-15 minutes an order, you may want to call ahead either way. The prices are a little on the high side as well, but still very much worth the value. If you're spending a day at or near the River Oaks mall and in the mood for outstanding shrimp, just head a few blocks East and look for the big red sign.
