The ambiance was very nice, dimly lit, white linens, candles and flowers on every table. The beverage list was extensive, cocktails, martinis and wines, as was the food menu. Our waiter was trained, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. It was a shame he did not understand that we did not want to be rushed. Each course was delivered as we were midway through the previous. But that and the very average dessert are my only complaints. The lobster mango spring rolls, the Tom Yum soup, the spicy salmon and red curry chicken all were very good. (Certainly I've had better, but for the location this gem was a real diamond in the rough.)

A bit pricey and old but, still a favorite of ours. If they were in a better building they'd be a fiver all the way!

Here's the skinny:
Same owners as Asparagus in Merrillville, IN
Food is awesome, I especially like the Pineapple Fried Rice.
Drinks are perfect almost all the time, had a few eh... so-so ones too.
The building they're in is not the best... they deserve better.

Here's the fat:
Sam and Tammy also own Asparagus in Merrillville, IN
Link: http://www.yelp.com/biz/… Which is a truly amazing place. A little bit of a different style of Thai though. Go check it out too.

The food at Siam Marina is always good, portions are quite large too. Me and whomever I'm with can usually order one entree and two appetizers to split, still there's usually leftovers to be boxed. My top fave here is 1- Pineapple Fried Rice or 2- Crab Fried Rice, both are delicious.

There are lot's of different Martini's to try here:
Tokyo Night
Lychee Martini
Geisha Girl
They're all good, granted that there's a few times that they were a bit "off" on the flavor but, they'll remake it if you ask. I usually don't though... not my thing.

They're at River Oaks Mall, under Westwood College. It's an old building that doesn't do this place Justice, Siam Marina deserves a nice place with a cleaner more serviceable bathroom. The men's room is kinda terrible and the ONLY reason I had to deduct points... Sorry Sam, sorry Tammy, You know I love your restaurants and your food is always a hit!
As far as the rest of the place goes though, it's nice. The decor is simple, classy/casual style. There's an outdoor patio where they do Jazz in the summer(inside at winter time).

All in all, this is a great place to get a meal and/or grab a drink. Don't let the building they're in fool you, Siam is a diamond in the rough.

I read all of the reviews on Yelp and Open Table, and thought this place was worth a try. It should be noted that I've eaten at MANY different authentic Thai restaurants. I ordered Pad thai and Pad se ew that I have eaten many of times and I must say that this was the WORST I have ever had. They were both pretty bland and the Pad Se Ew was salty and covered in the sauce, and the menu says its a sweet sauce, but it is far from a sweet taste. If you have never had authentic Thai food, then this may pass off as good to you, but as an avid Thai food eater and foodie, I must say this isn't worth the $12 price. It is also pretty pricey. I thought it was pricey because Thai is hard to find in this area, and it is probably good, but I was WRONG.find a better place if you can.

NOTHING TO RAVE ABOUT HERE.

Start with the important stuff: Great food!

The pad see eiw was very good. The service was quick and efficient.

A couple of positive reviews that brief are exactly what I want to see in a place I'm looking to try.

This is not a hole in the wall look how you want restaurant - so don't come in looking like a bum! They were nice to me after a weekend of racing in the sun, but I felt a bit embarrassed carrying the fresh from the campsite look. This place is apparently very well regarded and has some shining reviews and stories about the owner in the entrance.

Great food, quick service. It is a little pricy but they give large servings.

LOCATION: Boy, was this place hard to find if you didn't know where to go. My GSP told me it's right by the mall, but it couldn't pinpoint the exact location. I ended up having to call the restaurant on the phone to get me there. If you keep driving around the mall until you see Westwood College (tall building), it's right next to that. Not to mention Peter Francis Geraci is in the same strip mall.

FOOD: I tried the Pad See Eiw chicken and Garlic Tofu. I wanted to try the Garlic Pork, but they ran out of pork (how did they do that?). Both dishes were great! Costing around $12 each, but worth the price for the freshness and quality of the meal. The flavoring was really good in both dishes. I was a little disappointed in their dessert menu. They did offer a separate dessert menu, but they were generic (Tiramisu, creme brule, bread pudding, cheesecake, etc.) rather than Thai desserts. Perhaps the Thai once are seasonal?

DECOR: FANCY! Very nicely decorated inside and I felt like a bum walking in there in my shorts and t-shirt.

SERVICE: Fast and friendly.

Siam Marina is an outstanding gem tucked away in one of the most unlikely places. Finding Thai food in the south suburbs is a challenge - finding GOOD Thai food is nearly impossible. Siam Marina delivers great food every time. It is our go-to restaurant whenever we have out of town visitors; everyone loves it! The restaurant is large, yet it is divided into sections that feel very intimate. Service has always been excellent. We have tried many different drinks, appetizers, and entrees, and have never had a bad meal. Some favorites include the lobster spring rolls, the ginger pork, and the Cilantro-lime tilapia.

Siam Marina is a hidden gem in the area.

They have by far the best Pad Thai I have ever experienced. Their Thai food takes on it's own little unique twist and I love it! This is not your average Thai food, this is MUCH MUCH better!

Picked up some food to-go while I was coming back into the Chicagoland area. I really liked the decour and the menu was huge. Sometims that's a turn off for me becuase I have a hard time deciding on what I want. Or it reminds me of that old addage, "Jack of all trades, master of none."

Their avacado egg rolls were nothing to rave about. The duck was good. Portions are great. The area is sort of odd. It's in a huge parking lot that shares with a college. Must be great for students to get lunch at from time to time. Proabably a great way to tour that XL menu.

I'll update a review after I get some food here a few more times. I think this place can get up to a 4-5 star review.

Jeeze louise the food here is FANTASTIC. When I lived in northwest Indiana, I would drive here once or twice a month from Chesterton, and still often come here with my family when I'm home visiting. We always get the tofu satay appetizer. This comes with the most decadent, delicious peanut sauce I've ever had. I will seriously eat any that's left with a spoon - I have no shame. I would bathe in it if I could, it's that darn good. I've had many different dishes here - pad thai, cashew tofu, garlic tofu, and others I can't currently remember. All were fantastic, though I keep going back to the pad thai and the cashew. They will make any of their dishes with tofu instead of meat, so it gives us vegetarians tons of options. Portions are large. The thai iced tea is banging. Service here has always been excellent, and they have bussers walking around with water pitchers, so my glass never goes dry - especially important if I get my food hot (they will definitely spice it up if you want). The ambiance here is also much more upscale than you would expect for a location attached to the mall - but the interior is really nice, and always clean, including nice, clean bathrooms.

Come for the peanut sauce, stay for the entrée.

I'd say closer to 3.5. Not bad, but also not great. Service was a bit slow, but friendly so forgiveable. We were a bit confused by the clearly Latin music playing in the background while eating, but once again not a big deal. The food itself was ok, the chicken in the pad Thai was a bit dry, but other than that everything else was fine. We went during lunch so the prices for everything were ok, but dinner prices are steep for a Thai restaurant! But I guess they have the advantage that they are one of the very few Thai places in the area.

I have been eating at Siam Marina for years, even before Tammy opened the River Oaks and Indiana locations, and the food NEVER disappoints! The fresh vegetables, delicious sauces, and flavorful seasonings enhance every dish. The spicy catfish, sizzling crazy shrimp, and five star chicken are a few of my favorites. The curries are served in a clay pot with rice and taste so fresh! I drive from the city to visit family in the south suburbs, but really it's just a ploy so that I can stop at Siam Marina!

As a former south suburbanite, one would think I wouldn't cringe at the thought of fine dining in the south suburbs. Oxymoron, right? Doesn't exist, right? Wrong! Siam Marina ( which isn't located on a scenic Marina btw) is literally a hidden treasure (couldn't bear to say gem) nestled in the back of the illustrious River Oaks Shopping Center, right across from what looked like the Peter Francis Geraci bankruptcy headquarters.

I met a good friend at the bar on a Monday night and of course the place was rather slow. But that's a great thing when one is starving, like I was. He was already chowing down on a spring roll and drinking a martini. I took a gander at their martini list and was impressed! Never have I seen so many to choose from but I finally decided upon the Nutty Martini--vodka, Frangelico and stuffed olives. Dreamy, creamy and STRONG!!

I'm not quite sure why he encouraged me to order so much food...maybe he thinks I'm too skinny or he's trying to fatten me up for the kill, but whatever it is, we had a lot of food in front of us. And I was embarrassed. Because I felt gluttonous...but that didn't stop me from tearing that s&^% up!!!! Yummmmmm! My mouth is currently watering as I think about all the Thai delights I sampled at Siam Marina: Spring rolls, shrimp and vegetable tempura, chicken and beef satay and cucumber salad for appetizers. Everything was very fresh and extremely tasty. That was actually enough for me but my friend insisted I order an entree. Before I ordered, I excused myself and went to the ladies room to check myself out in the mirror---ok, my jeans are probably a tad bit looser than the last time I saw him but dang....why is he MAKING me eat? Eff it, I'll order something else and the five-spice duck is what I chose. Tender morsels of duck seasoned to a just-right spicy level of perfection. It was a rather large portion so I had some to take home for a midnight snack.

I was then forced to order another martini even though the first one already had me feeling right, if ya know what I mean. This time I went with the Secret Garden, a refreshing concoction of gin, cucumber, cilantro and lime juice. My fave! After finishing this drink, I now felt like my buddy did. He wasn't trying to fatten me up for the kill...he was full of jolly juice and spreading the love.

Siam Marina is really a classy restaurant with great food and friendly service. It was kinda cool to be back in my old hood and even ran into a a couple of people I grew up with. I don't know when I'll be back out that way but going to Siam Marina would definitely be worth another trip.

Cal City....the Land of No Pity.

I remember when Calumet City was THE place for Southsiders to eat and shop. It was the American dream for many of us residing on the Southeast Side; a shopping, dining, and entertainment emporium conveniently located 15 minutes from Chicago. Growing up, it was THE place for families on the Southside to relocate to. Now, all that's left is rundown mall that is host to frequent shoot outs, abandoned movie theaters, Wal-Mart, and is called "home" by many criminals who proudly hold a spot on Chicago's Most Wanted List (lol, seriously...next time you're at the Daley Center go downstairs and look at this list, EACH person is to believed to be residing in Calumet City).

So, why am I reviewing Siam's Marina? Because in spite of all of the setbacks this area has undergone, this place continues to be FINE DINING ESTABLISHMENT.

I like Thai. Don't love it. But I like it. But here, I LOVE IT. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise, but the food is stellar. A little on the pricey side, but it's fresh, authentic, and served with beautiful presentation. The staff is very accommodating, courteous, and pays plenty attention to detail. On top of this, the crowd is always very mixed: think all races and ethnicities, couples, groups, and families. On weekends, there's also a live band playing soft jazz music. They also don't play in way that it gets too loud and you have to shout over dinner, the volume is always just right.

Now, don't get me started on their drink menu. FANTASTIC. They have ANYTHING and EVERYTHING you can think of and can whip up just about ANY drink. They also have a superb selection of imported Asian beers. Ever have a Vietnamese beer? Probably not. But you can bet you last dollar you'll be trying one here!

Bring the kids! Bring the wife! But please bring your gat for the trip in! lol. Siam's Marina is definitely a goldmine of restaurant in Cal City!

p.s. For a more serene dining experience, do lunch here. It's very peaceful in here during the day.

Fantastic food in a very romantic setting. We started off with the avocado spring rolls that had a flavor like no other egg roll. The pad ki mao was full of flavor and spice and was large enough for a next day meal. Presentation alone of the dishes is impressive. Leave room for the cinnamon cranberry raisen bread pudding! A little on the pricey side though but totally worth it!

Our service was extremely slow though. Other tables in the area seemed to be served quick enough, but our waitress seemed to forget about us a lot.

Just a serene and tranquil atmosphere with a graceful staff brings back such cool memories of the times my mother and I ate here. Piping hot jasmine and lemon tea to start with our avacado filled egg rolls. I had to bring it up before our hot selected Pad Tai Noodles overflowing with shrimp or sometimes chicken and peanut sauce.

The dessert of moist pineapple cake with a chilly texture moist with pinapple juice and or syrup with whip cream to top is a light delight for us sweet tooth addicts.

At that time when I drank, we ordered one or two martinis off their martini menu. I used to order their nicely chilled and dry with vermouth and sweet with some sort of berry. I guess mom and I enjoyed this place so much because of our long talks. The location could be better, and the service was just fine.

Its a quiet little place serene and simply elegant with white table cloth, antique silverware, and portraits on the wall.

Love, love, love this place! It is definitely more than just a thai restaurant. In fact, I am not sure I have ever even tried the thai staples like Pad Thai here. The menu is enormous - not even sure how they have so many options. For me, the seafood is the highlight at this restaurant. Lime cilantro tilapia, catfish curry, red snapper, etc. are all delicious. They also have some really innovative drinks and appetizers which never disappoint. I think the atmosphere is great, especially on Friday nights when they have live jazz. Definitely give this place a try, I think everyone is always pleasantly surprised!

This place is a dump. Nothing specific, just all around not good. Every dish is too sweet, too expensive, and unfulfilling. The service sucks, the location is crappy, and the atmosphere is sleazy. I guess if you have to walk, it's better than no Thai at all, but barely.

Huh? Did I step into the twilight zone? Could this be a horrible restaurant with good Yelp reviews?!? Will I declare I've never seen such a thing as this where I'm from! Anyway, since I'd never been to this restaurant before and I didn't want to risk a bad meal, I ordered Thai staples Tom Ka Soup and Pad Ki Mow with Shrimp, to go (since I wasn't feeling the old and dank atmosphere inside). I paid $30 plus dollars for the kind of meal that I would not have hesitated to send back if I'd ordered in. The shrimp was small and undercooked. The noodles were thick and overcooked. The soap was oily and watery. It was flat out awful and inedible and expensive to top that. The real miscreants Katheryn K. are you (for being duped by fake Thai and calling the young kids in that area miscreants) and the owners (for the awful food)!

First off let me say that the place was almost at
full capacity and there was a nice mix of people; young, old, families, people on dates, girlfriends, co-workers...it seems to be a popular and happening place.

I came here with my husband and baby around 8pm one weekday evening. There were flowers and a candle on the table & light jazz music played softly in the background. I must say it is quite a romantic place, a cute hidden gem in the south suburbs.

The avocado spring rolls are crispy and tasty; these are good for an avocado fan because there is alot of it. Dip it in the sauce and you are good to go.

Chicken skewers are good. I had a spicy chicken dish with rice and veggies and it was plentiful in size and satisfying in taste. For a drink I had a lychee martini of some sort, strong but good.

Dinner was a little pricey but the food, appetizers and servers were worth it, I will be back in the future.

What a gem! This is the best Thai place I have been in Chicago and it's in Calumet City. Yes, we went there for Thai food after seeing it on Check Please.

We ordered Angel Wings, Tom Kha Soup as apps, then Duck Curry with Banana, Clay Pot Cat Fish. All the dishes were delicate, and very flavorful. Angel Wings were stuffed chicken wings with chicken and vermicelli, lightly fried. The soup was very fragrant with hints of lemon grass and coconut milk, not like some restaurant version that gives you a face krinch with a salty sour soup. Our favorite is the curry, all the vegetables were cooked perfectly, the duck succulent, the slight sweet, spicy, spiked with coconut milk curry sauce was so good! You know they didn't just ladle it out of a big pot and serve it to you. Best yet, the restaurant is well decorated, has candles on the tables and had a jazz band there on Friday.

The menu is heavy on seafood items, and warning... the seafood items were about $20 each, much higher than your run of the mill Thai restaurants, not to mention that they are in Calumet. Our bill was $67 with one glass of wine. But we had leftover from our two entrees.

However, if you like Thai food and want to go beyond your normal Phad Thai, I would highly recommend trying this place. We went to Indiana Dunes State Park for a long hike in the afternoon and on our way back, stopped for dinner.

Siam marina is a wonderful place hidden in the worst place in the world..it crack me up every time I go there, because the mall next door is filled with..miscreants. and then you enter this nice little restaurant, it's surprisingly quiet and filled with nice people..like being on another planet almost. Me and my mother have been going there for years, I was surprised to see that it was still there. so me and my BF are going there every other weekend, and we always get seated at the same table, the food is always amazing, and I alway have enough for leftovers. The waitresses are always very nice, and get everything to you as fast as possible. I have not one complaint..except please move to the North Side someday!

I went with my family on a Tuesday night and there were only 2 other tables occupied yet the service seemed slow. The Calamari Tempura was delicious, but as for the other dishes (Massaman Curry, Tofu Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, Nutty Chicken) I've had better. If it wasn't as overpriced the quality would be justified, but I found it too expensive.

I am thai, so I guess that I have high expectations when eating at a Thai Rest. My co worker wanted to eat here for lunch. Let me say that I was truly disappointed when the waitress did not know what brown rice was. Also, when I asked for fish sauce (a sauce that is in almost every thai dish) the waitress did not have a clue what I was talking about. The prices are also high. If you want to have authentic thai food, just drive 30 mins into Chicago and there are so many rest. to pick from and the prices range from $5-$8 for dinner and $7 for their lunch specials. Overall, I was not impressed and will not be eating here again.

Mama Marie brought me here because she knows I love Asian food - all Asian food. And since I think I've found the best Thai restaurant ever in Berkeley - I was anxious to see if this place could compete.

And it does. We split the drunken shrimp and pad thai. Both were delish. The sauce of the drunken shrimp was amazing and the noodles stayed crisp for a while. The pad thai was among the best I've had - the right balance of sweet and spicy and the right amount of tamarind.

Service was friendly - disturbingly so...the waitress was almost stepford wife-ish.

I truly like Asian food...ALL Asian food. And, since my surrogate parents are Japanese, I am a bit of a snob . But, I LOVE THIS PLACE!! My beau brought me here to meet his best friends for the fist time. And, although I am sure I should have been demure and picked at my food, the seafood dish "in a nest" was sooo good that I cleaned my plate!? Not to mention, the Lychee Martini was fabulous! I was stuffed and slightly tipsy. Luckily, the beau was smitten and didn't find this to be a "deal breaker"!

When a friend told me about this place I was very skeptical. A good thai restaurant in a mall? She was right, though! This restaurant is really wonderful and rivals the best of the many thai places I have been to in the city. The menu has all of the typical thai favorites: pad thai, tom yum soup, etc..., but there are also some more gourmet creations, like duck and pineapple curry, soft shell crab, and avocado eggrolls. There are a lot of seafood dishes here, too. The presentation is always beautiful, and the service is excellent. It is a little pricier than your typical thai fare, but the food is well worth it. The decor quite elegant, and there is a lovely patio.

Best thai food I've ever had, in this area or any other. The hardest part of eating here is making the excruciatingly difficult decision which of the things on the menu you want _most_, since there's absolutely nothing you won't want to eat.

When I want Thai food, I don't head to up north, I'll drive south to Calumet City for the best Thai food and great service. The duck curry is served in a ceramic duck, the calamari tempura melts in your mouth, and the avocado spring rolls are sinful! I've tried 2 dozen dishes here and have never once been disappointed. From $7 to $27 per person (depending on your taste), you can have a fabulous meal (huge servings) and enjoy their WELL stocked bar.
