I give the place three stars and the customers on karaoke nights two. Â
I'm a karaoke nerd. Â I love karaoke. The woman who runs it here does a great job. Â She's friendly, helpful and the system/song selection is decent for a dive bar like this. Â
The crowd, however, is a different story. Â This place seems to attract a lot of people on karaoke nights who don't get it. Â They sit right in front of the singers and talk loudly while they're performing, often completely ignoring them unless it's one of their friends.
Look, I'm not some diva who expects the world to stop when I'm singing and I get that karaoke can be annoying. Â But you're at a bar on KARAOKE NIGHT, and the bar makes it very obvious. If you're going to sit right in front of the microphone, BE POLITE for crying out loud and least don't yell and completely ignore the performers. Â There are plenty of other bars in Pensacola if you don't like karaoke.
I'm writing this review because this has happened many, many times. Â Again, the bar itself is all right. Â But many of the customers are self-absorbed d--chebags.
Great dive bar, if you like shitty jukebox music, emphysema, crappy krapaoke, and spotty drink slinging. Â If you plan on staying awhile and the jukebox is on, put your money in early and get your songs in the queue, because I swear that some people that hang out here have the absolute worst taste in music and cram the jukebox with lots of $ to dominate the music.
Better if you drink mixed drinks or booze. Â The shots here are served in juice glasses that would shame the most generous pour at most bars. Â Still, I don't drink mixed drinks, and I only do shots when I'm on a mission. Â No draft beer, just bottles and cans.
I've met some nice people here and have never seen a hockey game erupt, although I have seen people too drunk to control their motor functions. Â The place is perfect if you want to get your drink on.
Nothing fancy about this place, just a good old fashioned, get drunk cheap and meet some "interesting" folks kind of bar. Conveniently located, plenty of parking, and cheap drinks are the highlights of this place.
Went on a Saturday night for karaoke, and the place was pretty packed. Surprised to see only one bartender, but she kept up all night and was pretty good- made strong drinks and kept everyone happy. No beer on tap, but she was slinging bottles and mixed drinks like it was going out of style. Drinks were cheap, and it was much easier to pay with cash than put on a card, although they did accept cards.
Nice mix of people here, and everyone seemed to be having a great time- nice to see, I hate going to places where everyone gets drunk and decides they want to fight, although I'm sure this place has seen more than it's share of knock-down dragouts.
Karaoke was fun- a lady was running it, you just walk up, tell her your song and name, and get ready to jam. Lots of different people sang, some were pretty damn good, and lots of people picked great songs that everyone could sing.
My only real complaint with the place is the smokiness. I don't smoke, but I don't get upset with people smoking in a bar, I believe you should have the right to do that, but something about this place takes it to the extreme. There's nicotine dripping from the walls it's so heavy in there... but for the cheap drinks, fun factor, and people watching, "Sir Dicks" is a great place to stop in and check out.
