Not sure how many times we have passed this restaurant and not stopped. So glad we finally did Friday night.

Restaurant: Our waiter, Matthew, was exceptional! From his recommendations, we ordered the Skewer appetizer (chicken, beef and shrimp) and shared the chicken garlic saffron. The food was delicious. The appetizer came with a chicken/shrimp dipping sauce that had quite a bite to it. The chicken saffron was cooked to perfection with grilled vegetables and some yummy butter basmati rice. We asked to share the plate and expected them to prepare it on one plate only and bring an extra empty plate. Instead, they went ahead and prepared it on two separate plates (with good portions). It was more than enough for us. We were pleased with the service and food! Skewers is definitely a favorite on our list now.

I had checked myself into Skewers using Yelp. Surprisingly, a coupon for $8 towards an appetizer came up. Matthew saw me raving about it and told me he was going to apply it towards our bill. This restaurant prides themselves in their service and food. When we left, Matthew invited us to return to the bar.

Bar: About an hour after we left dinner, we returned to Skewers to visit the bar. The bar area is a pleasantly nice setup. It was Friday night so they had a DJ. A few tables along the walls with a sofa setup. They also had outside seating.  Our waiter, Matthew, was also the bartender for the evening. It's great that on our first visit to the restaurant, Matthew remembered us and called us by name. Again, exceptional customer service!

Thanks for the wonderful experience Matthew!

I've been here twice and loved both times.

The food is great.  Mediterranean cuisine (or at least I call it that) is not always done so well around this area, but Skewers does a great job.  I had the lamb kabobs.  The lamb was tender and tasty, and the rice tasted very good.  The Mediterranean Sampler is a definite must eat!!! My wife ordered the shrimp kabobs and they were fantastic as well.

The service is pretty awesome.  My water was never empty, and our food came out promptly.  My biggest pet peeve is when the entrees come out soon after the appetizer.  The servers understand how to time a meal, which makes for a great place.

I love to eat here, and I recommend this place.  Cant get much more of a review than that.

The appetizer sampler is really tasty and has a large variety including hummus, eggplant dip, dolmas, and falafels with flatbread.

I ordered the garlic saffron chicken, which I thought was flavorful but a little too dry for my taste. It was very rich, but was almost a little overpowering since the sauce on the chicken was very garlicky It came with a lot of rice, so it was very filling.

I've also ordered the Lula Kabob, which was really good, and not as chewy as the chicken.

Overall, I enjoyed the food, and would go back there again. The servers were very nice and helpful despite the fact that we got to the restaurant a little close to the closing time since we had just driven up from LA. They didn't rush us at all, and just let us take our time. The restaurant seems classy but casual and laid-back.

Would recommend it for a nice evening out.

I was in town visiting my mother. I have celiac disease and thus a severe allergy to wheat/gluten. I looked online and Skewers was recommended for gluten free. I also have some other food allergies, so I called ahead. They were very nice on the phone and told me that the only thing on their menu with gluten was their bread, and a few desserts. We went to eat there and when we walked in they were getting the menus and I asked to have the gluten free menu. The host said the same as I had been told by someone else on the phone, that they didn't have anything with gluten at all except their bread and some  desserts items. I asked to be sure they didn't even use chicken broth in their rice or anything, so truly gluten free. I was really excited to be eating there. I again asked the waitress when ordering and was told the same thing, NO GLUTEN. We ordered our food, including appetizers. Our appetizer included some dolmas, which I am fond of. The dolma just said on the menu it had spiced beef and herbs. It had rice and a grain in it as I was eatting it. I asked the waitress who then cheerfully told me that the dolmas are the only thing on the menu that is not gluten free because they have BULGER WHEAT in them. Are you kidding me? So then I had to get up in the middle of my nice lunch with my mom and go make myself throw up in their bathroom.  I also get to sit at home for the rest of the weekend taking laxitives trying to get it all out of my system as much as possible. When you have celiac disease just a little wheat is a major thing, I am going to be sick and in pain for several days now. I was very careful and checked and double checked and checked again. It is very frustrating.

Please, PLEASE make sure your staff is explicit in what has this allergen, esp if you tote yourself to be a gluten free friendly restaurant. I had no fewer than 3 staff members misinform me. Esp being as it is two items, bread and dolmas, it's not that hard for them to remember, or consider changing your menu description to reflect that it has beef, herbs and grains so that it will serve to warn us with allergens to check AGAIN with the staff or avoid it.

I know for some people being "gluten free" is some kind of trendy diet. But for those of us with an actual severe allergy it is a really serious thing. Please do not assume someone coming in asking for gluten free is on a trendy fad diet, and please take their concern seriously.

The food was good, the atmosphere was nice, the staff was really nice. I would give a good review, except now despite my being SO CAREFUL I am doomed to be seriously ill for several days.

Good Stuff, I could be happy with a couple of Apps.

I have eaten here 5-6 times and always good, never outstanding.  I would take a business lunch here.

Great restaurant.  We had wonderful service by our waiter.  He was a young guy and he was very curteous and knowledgeable about the menu.  I was there with my family and we had many, many requests.  He was very patient with us and took really great care of us.  The food was delicious and the restaurant is very clean and beautiful inside. We will come back here again!!

My boyfriend and I have been to Skewers twice and both times the food was consistently good. My boyfriend always gets some chicken dish and I've tried the lamb and the shrimp dishes. The butter sauce that they use is absolutely heavenly (although I'm sure not all that great for our hearts!). The service is prompt and they usually get you seated right away. I believe on Friday nights they also have some belly dancers that provide entertainment for the diners. Overall, a great place in Modesto for a nice dinner out!

Many visits and many great lunches. Since I typically just have lunch here since I work in Modesto but live elsewhere I usually do not go during the evening to Skewers for dinner. Lucky me I had dinner here the other night. And with dinner comes drinks:)
Our charming waiter took us to our table while I teased him if he would be belly dancing for us later. He reminded me that the show is on Saturdays only, dam it was Tuesday! Having trouble deciding brwn the salmon, I have not tried or the zesty, wonderfully spiced chicken we ordered salads and the trio hummus. The hummus trio is ok course regular hummus, jalapeno-cilantro hummus (a definite kick but ooohhh so good) and a red hummus which was good but I cant remember what was in it. (A really good reason to write your reviews ASAP not a wk later). With nourishment in our systems our brains could function - drink order time! There is a wonderful array of fancy girly drinks which is just wonderful in my book.
After much mental debate I decided to order the salmon crossing my fingers. Good job because the flavors popped and the saffron rice - OMG!! One of my fav things here is the basmati saffron rice. On this visit the rice was not as a bit toned down, maybe less saffron then usual. But we all know saffron thread are like the most expensive spice so they must be cutting back. And the other sorta complaint was the amount of food provided. 4 chunks of finely seasoned salmon grilled to perfection. I guess since it was so goid I wanted more. A couple grilled veggies were also on the plate kind of like a garnishment and not meant as a serving size.
Thumbs up for the service, the food - thumbs down for portions, but that may just be because I'm a lil piggy. Be prepared for the bill, not bay area expensive and again totally worth your hard earned money. But not somewhere I could afford to eat every day.

Fun place to eat and the food is good.  Service is awesome!  The staff is always friendly which is not always common in Modesto or around this area.  We love the family dinner special as well as the rice.  The cucumber  infused water is awesome!!!

I was introduced to this incredible restaurant by a couple if co-employees (Thanks Mona & Cindy!) and have been a frequent visitor ever since. My wife and I ate here last Friday before a show at the Gallo and their food is still on my mind! Everything I have tried from the Saffron Chicken to the Beef Kabob to the marinated Steak Kabob have been excellent. Oh, and don't forget their absolutely remarkable rice. Yum!!!

I really enjoyed the lunch I had here. I ordered the mediterranean appetizer that was very good. Their dolma is the second best compared to my grandmas, but who can beat grandma. I found that their hummus lacked flavor and seemed water downed. I don't know if it was a bad day, but if your a middle eastern restaurant you should have the hummus down. The shrimp and salmon ceaser also lacked dressing so ask for extra.

I read the reviews...and I love Greek & Turkish food plus we wanted to do something a little out of the box when we had a crowd in town to celebrate a birthday.  We were a party of 9 adults & a 2 year old with reservations on a Saturday night.  All of the patrons  were nicely dressed...not dressed up..but no jeans or t-shrits.  What a nice change to see people looking nice when going out.  We arrived on time & were seated promptly, however, only 7 of us got a menu.  We shared & made do...but really?  The drink orders were taken & starters ordered...both arrived quickly. We had the stuffed grape leaves, chicken garlic skewer, shrimp skewers & a variety of dips...all were tasty, but the bread was never refilled even though we asked, so sadly much of the dip went back to the kitchen uneaten.  The waitress took our order for dinner & answered every ones questions and made a few suggestions.

There was belly dancing & the girl who danced was very entertaining & pretty.  She captivated the entire restaurant, but the 2 year-old at our table was captivated and perhaps in love.  He loved watching her & every time the music came on for her to dance he asked us to be quite & watch the dancing girl. We had as much fun watching him watch her, as we had watching her.

We ordered a chicken dish for the two-year old & his plate was the first to arrive.  This gets them an extra star if you have ever dined out with kids- you know this small act of kindness can make your night out so much more enjoyable.  The kid's plate was huge & my grandson seemed to like the rice & veggies along with the chicken, but could not possibly eat all of it.  It was a good portion for most adults and the price was under $8.  Most of us started with the salad and they were fresh, crisp & tasty.  I had the lamb chops which were wonderful with the rice topped with a red berry (can't remember what it was called) tasted a bit like cross between a tart pomegranate and tart cranberry- very yummy and worth the extra $1.50.  My veggies were cooked perfectly & I was very happy.  My hubby & son-in-law both had the filet skewer & were thrilled by the flavor.  My daughter had the garlic chicken, but they brought her the wrong chicken dish & had to bring her the sauce on the side.  She thought it was good, but the sauce was a bit strong if she dipped the chicken in it. However, when she drizzled it on top of the chicken she became a fan.  My nephew got the dish intended for my daughter- but was so happy with the flavor he did not send it back.  My brother-in-law had the kabob and told me at least 3 times he was really enjoying his dinner.  I am not sure what everyone else ordered, but they all  were  thrilled with the food.  Everyone left with a doggie bag so they could enyoy the food for luch the next day.

We all had dessert. I had the baklava and it was homemade & filled with whole pistachios-amazing- I love baklava and my mouth was happy!!!  The other desserts that got rave reviews were the chocolate cake, pistachio ice cream, date ice cream & the caramel cookie sundae dish.  Several people ordered the Turkish coffee & enjoyed it thoroughly too.

The big downside was trying to get the staff to clear the dishes between courses and  trying to get a refill for our drinks, which proved to be almost impossible.  The minor downside was we were told that belly dancing was from 7 to 10.  They night we were there it ended at 9 and our 2 year old fan was hoping to see her one more time during desert...alas maybe next time.  Also that they tacked on the tip- I know big parties often don't tip properly theory...but that is not the case with my family...we typically tip much more...but we do expect you to earn it...if you are going to add your tip...please refill my water glasses & drinks during the meal.

Parking downtown can be a challange, but Skewers does have a private lot for parking, but it is small.  We all got a spot, but I am not sure that is a given every Saturday night.
    .
We will be back & even though the service could be improved; it was a fun night out and the food was wonderful. I'd say they are 4 and a quarter stars.

My fiance and I went to Skewers last night for the very first time. We don't eat out much but have had the itch to try new restaurants lately. Based on yelp reviews we chose Skewers and we are glad we did!

We were seated promptly and the waiter was very attentive but not overbearing. A great balance! My fiance had the shrimp skewers and I had the saffron chicken. Both were outstanding! I have to say my favorite part of the meal was the vegetables. They were seasoned to perfection! My fiance loved the rice and was tempted to steal some off of my plate after he finished his. Great experience, great food! We will definitely be returning.

I haven't had middle eastern in awhile so I thought I'd try this place. This place was very refreshing and the ambience was like wow. It was fancy with a very fun appeal.  This two yr old not too far from me was having a great time throwing rice all over the place. The portions didn't look huge but boy they wefilling believe me.   I loved the addition of cranberries in the rice an the cucumber water was very refreshing I think watermelon water would be a good suggestion. The pita bread was hella bomb too

My first visit to Skewers was a lunch today... and it was amazing.  On the recommendation of the waitress, I made sure to order their lamb - it was a fantastic recommendation.  The ambiance, food and service were excellent.  Bottom line, I found this restaurant to be a great find in Modesto (and will make sure to return on my next visit).

Had the salmon in the lemon/garlic/caper sauce. It was incredible. This is a great local, classy find. It would be perfect if you were looking for a date night and had really excellent service. The only thing that could be better would be more vegetable/ seafood options.

A friend and I decided to try something different for dinner given the chain-like offerings in most parts of our fair city. We ventured into Downtown and spotted Skewers conveniently on the corner of J and 9th Streets.

It was pouring that night so we took refuge under their awning which happened to have a ceiling fan going as full speed, hmm that was odd given the frigid temp. We then walked inside to a packed lobby due to a huge party that was just leaving and were seated shortly after.

We were given menus, brought water, lavash bread and butter. I was happy with the warm lavash bread to which my latino dining partner commented "My mom makes better tortillas". If you think about it, lavash bread is like a Mediterranean tortilla. Slapping on some butter on these bad boys wasn't the worst thing either! For the water you had a choice of cucumber or lemon infused water or plain. Of course I chose plain while my friend went for the lemon water.

For my main, I decided on the Garlic Saffron Chicken while he went for the Salmon on a Skew. My plate was beyond orgasmic with it's marriage of various flavors and textures. The chicken itself was so tender and juicy and sung in my mouth. Accompanied by roasted veggies and the best bismati rice with a hint of saffron, I was all set! Add in some delicious cucumber sauce (I think it was Tziki but not sure) and I was damn near ready to fly to Greece! My friend was quite pleased with his as well!!

Completely stuffed, we were tempted by our waitress to order some dessert as well. Not able to pass up the opportunity, we ordered two desserts to go. One was Baklava and the other was a Dark Chocolate Torte. Both were beyond sinful but my fave was the Dark Chocolate Torte!!!

I MUST MUST MUST go back soon!!!!!

Stopped in after reading the Yelp reviews... The Dolma was excellent, with just the right amount of spice. I also had the Greek salad, which was big, but didn't have enough dressing or feta. The service was amazing. Very quick and very attentive. Sometimes the smile makes the food taste even better. I'd def come back next time I'm in Modesto.

This place has good food! Came here last week for the first time and used the Yelp deal to get a $20 gift card for only $10. Perfect.

    The Good:
    - Didn't need reservations- came around 7:30pm
    - Dolma Appetizer- yummy, so glad we tried this!
    - Surf and Surf Entree- Salmon and Shrimp skewers with rice and grilled veggies, their was a lot of garlic butter sauce, but it tasted great.
    - Chicken and Beef Entree- The chicken was delicious!
    - The rice that was served with all the entrees was soft, and light!
    - Belly dancer came out for about 15 minutes and was entertaining!

    The Bad:
-Noisy- the acoustics in the restaurant are poor and the music was a little loud considering it's already a loud environment.

I would order everything we ordered again, we also really want to try their hummus medley which looked good and their bruschetta appetizer which was sold out that night! Everything is reasonaby priced and good quick service! Our server even encouraged us to "yelp", done!

A Persian restaurant that more than rivals Persian restaurants in NY where I am from. My mother is also a world renowned Persian chef so I know persian food. LOL. So far I've eaten here twice and have found all the elements in the dishes and appetizers to be excellent. This week I tried the Zereshk Polo with chicken which was done to near perfection. The chicken was great. The elements of the Sabzi (greens) were all fresh although I prefer to have some tarragon in my sabzi. The service has been excellent on both occasions. The staff genuinely appreciates the food so they actually know and can explain the dish in detail with enthusiasm. Part of an enjoyable experience at this place.

I'm from Southern California and came to Modesto to visit family. My cousin brought me here and I wasn't so sure I was going to like this place. She told me it was good, but I was about to find out for myself. I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!! The rice was so soft and fluffy. The server was very nice. I ordered shrimp and salmon with veggies. OMG I was in heaven. It was full of wonderful flavors and taste better with every bite. I would DEF go back again. DELISH!

I had a very enjoyable dinner here with friends  before we went to an evening program at the conference we were all attending.

The interior is attractive and the service good, even though they did not have the reservation that we made though OpenTable.

The menu had several dishes that sounded good and I couldn't make up my mind. I asked, Matthew, our waiter what he liked on their menu. He thought that the best dish on it was the Garlic Saffron Chicken. I took his advice, he was right it was very good. The chicken breast pieces were moist and tender. The lemon garlic butter sauce was delicious.  I also ordered a salad with the house dressing and it really had way too much vinegar for me.

Linda had a lamb shank and thought it was good. The other two people at the table enjoyed their dinners. A nice added bonus, the restaurant was a happy to adjust the vegetable to rice ratio for those who wanted less rice.

They have a full bar and a nice wine list.  I brought a bottle of wine and thought that the $10 corkage fee was reasonable.

My leftovers made a great alternative to the hotel breakfast buffet.

My partner and I had a Groupon for this place so we decided to take our friends. Overall, it was a pretty pleasant experience, though it only merits an A-OK rating.

The service is really good. Our waiter was on top of his game last night (Sept. 22) and he wasn't too overbearing with suggestions or anything.

The appetizers (sampler and chicken skewers) were a great way to start off the night. My partner didn't think his wine was all that great, but my long island was spot on.

The entrees...well, I had dolma (little grape leave wraps stuffed with ground beef and stuff) which was fantastic. My partner's steak was juicy and "like butter." However, here's where the three star rating comes: the dolma wasn't the star of my dish and the steak wasn't the star of my partner's dish, it was the rice. The rice tasted fine, but there was probably enough for the four of us on one plate. Furthermore, the menu says it comes with a side of veggies, and I'm not hyperbolic when I say there were three medallions of carrots, a tomato, and a piece of squash. Maybe I'm just being really picky, but I like my dishes to have equal parts side dishes and a little more on the main component.

Will I go back? Yes, most likely. Will I eat my pound and a half of rice? Probably. Will my craving for Mediterranean food be satiated? Absolutely.

    What a delightful evening!

My cousin, Marla Arata, and I started a mini family tradition several months ago.  Known as Second Tuesday, it is a night we set aside to take our Moms' to dinner.  The four of us look for old and new restaurants in the area and we have a lovely dinner.

It was my turn to pick a place and I chose Skewers.  I had eaten there about five years ago and remembered it as being a different type of place, one that I thought our Moms would enjoy.

I was very right - they both enjoyed the food, ambiance and the service!  Our server was Lenit, a lovely and solicitous young woman with a ready smile and an enthusiastic personality.

We all ordered something different.  I had the Shrimp Kabob and it was WONDERFUL.   Joan tried the Eggplant Stew and Mom chose the traditional Shish Kabob.  Marla had the Chicken Kabob.  We all shared 'bites'.  I could eat any of those dishes my next time there and be a happy customer.

We were too full for dessert!

One slight problem?  I got a little bit cold by the end of the evening.  However, if I was ever going to chose between a restaurant that is too stuffy and one that is a little bit cold?  Guess what....cold-ish wins.

I look forward to coming back to Skewers.  I LOVE IT!

Well it's been about a year since we were here so thought it best to give it another try. Glad we did. The service was even better this time than the last and they were busy. The food??? Well lets just say that we will be going back again before a year goes by. The chicken and the Lamb were the best i've had in a long time. I'm sure there are other places that serve lamb but in my opinion this is the best. They do something with it that gives it a very distinctive flavor. Love the humus and flat bread and to top it off you just have to have some Turkish coffee. A great way to end your day.
5 thumbs up on this one.

For starters, I like Sabzi, pretty basic, herbs with feta cheese.  All of their dips are delicious.... I love their take on hummus, the basic hummus is good, but it really makes hummus more interesting when you add the cilantro and jalapenos! The eggplant dip is also really good.

I use their catering whenever I have the chance.  Their lula kabob is my favorite... like, my favorite lula kabob, anywhere.

I have also enjoyed the shrimp kabob, the salmon (YUMM, especially with that lemon-butter-garlic sauce), the shish kabob, the Filet  (Barg) (DOUBLE YUM).

If you're new to Skewers and can't decide, get combo plates of the things you want to try, and share.  You won't be disappointed.

I've been to Skewers twice and left satisfied on both occasions. Their portions are very generous and the food is delicious. The lula kabobs are well seasoned and is definitely a must try! Recently I had the chicken sultani, one skewer of chicken and one of lula, which I could not finish. Not to mention the $8 free appetizer check-in special!

On the inside you'll find Skewers to have a nice ambiance. Our server was a very funny guy by the name of Matthew. For some reason he reminded me of Jonah Hill so I couldn't stop cracking up. You definitely can't go wrong with a stop here for dinner.

It's been 3-4 hours later, and I am still STUFFED.

Yes, the 4 of us came here tonight and ordered for 8. Somehow managed to put 90% of it down, and packed the rest to go cause it was so delicious!

I was so excited to see the yogurt drink on the menu! I've had better, but it was still yummy. No one else at the table seemed to like it, but I am glad that I acquired it's taste a while back.

Mediterranian Sampler was delicious. The dolma and the cucumber dip would be the heroes of the dish.

Skew sampler was yummy as well, with the chicken being the standout item. It was soft, tender, and oh-so-delicious with the lemon butter dip (I believe that's what it was).

We each ordered a kabob entree as well, with mine being a favorite all around. I had the lula kabob, which was flavored and cooked to perfection. I was also super impressed with the tender rack of lamb as well. It was soft, and not didn't have the gamey taste at all! Everyone else was oddly raving about the rice. Perhaps it was because this was a somewhat new cuisine to them, and so it seemed quite different.

Lastly, we ordered 4 desserts each. The creme brulee, Persian ice cream, cheesecake, and turtle cake item? Forgot what that last one was called. None were bad, but the creme brulee and the ice cream definitely stood out more. The ice cream had a very unique and refreshing flavor, which was fairly foreign to me.

On top of our delicious food, the service was great. I really enjoyed our server's company, and he was very personable. We had a blast joking with him, and I wish I got his name to give him some credit in this review! He had mentioned that he also bartends on Fridays, so that would be the guy!

Great experience. Would definitely come back if I was craving some kebobs. Might consider checking out the night scene here when I'm back in Modesto next time. Unfortunately, this is probably as good as it gets in this town, huh?

    Tasty Skewers/kabobs

Lenit was my bartender/waitress. She was very courteous and helpful with the menu. I had the hot cajon chicken which was delicious, and the salmon which was the same. I almost tried desert, but was too full to even eat anymore food.

If im ever back in lovely modesto, ca i will surely stop by again. Check out Yelp for check in offers!!

I know nothing about Middle Eastern food. well other than I like kabobs.  We were there for a birthday party that was being held in the banquet room.  The servers were really nice and super accommodating.  They were willing to wait on us, because we had a few late stragglers.

Food, was alright.  The flat bread was a bit floury for my liking and it was cold.  It was self service in the banquet room and they had salad, chicken safron, basmati rice and some sort of beef kabob.  The salad was good, I really liked the dressing.  The chicken was ok, to be honest, I was expecting a lot more flavor.  The beef thing, well, it was like ground beef formed into a patty and grilled, it did have some flavor, but the consistency of the meat through me off, someone described it as the consistency of salsbury steak.  The basmati rice was ok too.  The one thing I didn't like, and let me preface this with saying, I love salt, but everything was super salty.

The belly dancer did come in and dance for us.  The men enjoyed it, and I guess I would've too, but I have a thing about watching gyrating flesh while I eat.

I would go back, to try the menu on my own and give it another shot.

Staying at the Doubletree in downtown Modesto (don't laugh -- could be the Courtyard Marriott, which is where I was last week, and that's a different story!)

Anyway, this place is a short walk away, so I called in a "to go" order so I could watch "The Voice" in my room and eat. Got the "Skewers Special" which is a chicken kebob and a beef kebab over rice, with a side of pita bread. Sounds simple, but the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned, both tender and juicy. The rice was fluffy and the pita bread fresh and tasty. Overall, food quality exceeded my expectations, particularly for 9:00 pm on a Monday in Modesto. The place was mostly empty when I arrived, which was not a surprise considering the time/day. The staff were very friendly (this seems to be a friendly town in general, but I live in Marin, which can be a bit snobbish!).

The only downside is that $17 for a plate of kebobs and rice seems a bit steep, but I can guess that the price is based on table service, and they don't do much take-out.

Skewers is one of those longstanding restaurants that I've often driven past but had never given it a try.  Until recently...and am I glad I did!

On the evening we stopped in, it was not crowded.  There were only two other tables occupied, but it was in the middle of the week which is usually not a real big restaurant night in Modesto.

I ordered one of the chicken dishes which was absolutely amazing!  The chicken was exclusively breast meat and it was some of the most tender and succulent chicken I've ever tasted.  The chicken was served over a bed of rice with some grilled veggies.  Everything was perfect including the service.

I cannot wait until my next dining experience!  :)

To be fair I am not a fan of Iranian food, but having said that, I have tasted better donkey meat!  Ate there for lunch with  6 people in our party. We all shared 6 different items. I really tried to like at lease one dish, but everything was very dry. Service was OK. If you like greek, you might like Iranian. I don't care for either.

Right after I posted my review, I got email from a Charlie O, that I think must be associated with Skewers. He is calling me names and telling me how much he hates me. Geesh, I guess he wants to behead me!

I had forgotten how bad my previous experience had been. I went back tonite. I was alone. I love Persian food. My family doesn't really. So I make it only occasionally, although my last Qormeh Sabzi was the best I ever made since I added some leeks and dill (chef's prerogative!).

Tonite as before service was excellent. The food was again really good. Lighting was better, it is summer and I sat close to the window.

But, again, it was Friday night. As someone else wrote "guitar guy". Ugh! By the end of my meal I was ready to jump out the window. Annoying doesn't even describe it. I suggested to the waiter they offer complimentary ear plugs. He apologized and said that after 6 years he has gotten used to it. I should have given him my business card in case he cracked one nite--but I don't carry business cards!

I would have given them 5 stars tonite, had it not been for the "music".

I had to go to Turlock, which means one of two possible things.

I am a migrant farm worker or I am of middle eastern decent.

Turlock, for some odd reason, is like mecca for my peeps.

    Why Turlock?

    Regardless.

On the way home, the whole clan stopped in Modesto for some kabobs.  And I do mean, the WHOLE clan.

Cousins, 2nd cousins, random dudes, 4th cousins twice removed.  In our family, it all just defaults to "cousin."  I don't even bothering asking my grandma who someone is.  I just know the answer is going to be "he's a cousin."

    Skewers.

What can I say.  It's in Modesto.  Not sure why you'll ever go there.  But if you happen to be in the neighborhood, this is the only place I can actually vouch for.  And it's a good one.

Get the sampler and the chicken garlic kabobs.

    Yogurt.
