I completely agree with the person who said that this restaurant/bar lacks an identity. I have given it two tries and both experiences were negative.
The first time we tried this bar was on a Saturday night, there was hardly anyone there. We sat at the bar and had several drinks. The bartenders looked miserable, they weren't fun, and they were capping all the alcohol and putting things away at like 11:00.
I decided to give it another try last weekend. We went the night before St. Patrick's Day. There were a few other people there. When we walked in it was about 10:30 or so, the hostess asked us if we were eating or drinking and we said drinking. She sat us at a large table, which I thought after a certain time we should just be able to sit wherever. The waitress came over 5-10 minutes later and introduced herself. We ordered a pitcher of beer. At least 15 minutes went by before a different waiter delivered the beer and told us he would be our waiter. The beer was warm and flat. We hurried through our pitcher and immediately left. The DJ that was working that night also looked completely miserable. There was no audience interaction. She would play music all over the place, country, then 80s, then gangster rap.
They need to figure out what they want to be.
WORST BAR I HAVE EVER BEEN TOO! Â I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone after what happened tonight. Â It was my first and last time in this place. Â We were celebrating a friends birthday and enjoy great music....but that is where the fun stopped. Â We ordered a pitcher of beer and it took them nearly 15 minutes to bring it out and at the time they weren't busy. Â More so we ended up getting our appetizer before our beer. Â Our entire party had very bad food. Â Our orders were messed up and my order had to be sent back 3 times and even 2 people in our party never go their food. Â We ordered some lemon drop shots and they too were watered down ....but I was charged $14.00 Â The service was horrible, it was so bad that we just started going to the bar to get drinks. Â At the end of the night our bills were all screwed up in our party. Â We figured that after the experience we had they would discount our bill, but no instead the manager says he can't do that. Â In the end he gave us $3 off our bill...really dude. Â Then they hovered over us because they didn't think we would pay our bill. Â I could go on and on...but one of the best is that we asked for a pitcher of Guinness Beer and the server asked what kind we wanted....really.....the wait staff didn't know their head from their ass and the manager was a joke. Â HORRIBLE is all I have to say....don't go to this place!
Review Source:My girlfriend and I have been here 4 times. The fourth being the final visit.
1. The first time, we had a sandwich and a wrap, and decent service.
2. The second time, wings and a pitcher for $11(as this was the Sunday special, which we were told was "too good" of a special and that it was going away), and decent service again.
3. Third time, I tried the General Tso's Chicken thinking it would be delicious as this restaurant is owned by the same guy that owns the Legend of Asia next door. Well, it sucked, I couldn't even finish it, took it home to be nice, only to throw it away the next day knowing I'm not going to eat the over-sauced mess. Also had decent service this time.
4. Fourth visit, no food, only drinks. Service left something to be desired. It seemed like the server was a new guy, so that's understandable I guess. Came here to watch the Mizzou basketball game, their second SEC Conference game, which with my experience in food & beverage, you put the local game on the main TVs ALL THE TIME as you are serving locals, ESPECIALLY way the heck out on South 7 Highway. This was not the case, after multiple requests to the MOD, Eric, he finally put the game on the main TV only to change it BACK, almost immediately, to the Broncos/Ravens game. If it was a CHIEFS game I would understand, however, we're not in Maryland or Colorado, this is MISSOURI and there was a MISSOURI GAME available to watch. After multiple conversations with management, we have concluded that this restaurant will no longer receive our patronage.
If the food was better, service got revamped, and management retrained we would reconsider. Until then, they will continue to lose business. I promise.
This is bar/restaurant without an identity. I've been there a total of 3 times because I could never make up my mind if I liked the place or not. The first time I went it was for a couple drinks and some apps after a long day of work. The drink specials that night were good, and the apps were just okay. It is an eclectic menu that offers American and Chinese food. Their apps range from orange rolls and crab rangoon, to Italian nachos...a weird mix for a sports bar. It's got seating for a lot of people in the dining area, a bar, game area and an outdoor section as well, but ironically no skylights...hmmm.
The second time I went I had a tortilla wrap of some sort, which came with french fries. I will say that they season and cook their fries wonderfully. The fries alone made me return for my third, and probably final visit.
So two weeks ago a friend suggested that we go there and I really had no reason to say no - the french fries were beckoning me anyway. The place was completely dead when we got there; in this gigantic restaurant there were maybe 4 people at the bar, and 3 of us at a booth. Our server was a friendly fellow, but was way more concerned with hanging out with his work buddies at the bar than serving us. That being said, the fries were still scrumptious. I love local businesses, but this one just doesn't cut my mustard.
My boyfriend and I came up here last Wednesday night and the manager on duty called last call at 11:30 when it clearly states on the building that you close at 12:30. We've been coming here ever since you opened. We enjoy our time at your bar, but we found it odd that the manager wanted to cut our time short. I guess we will go where our money is wanted.
Review Source:Horrible! Would never go here again. So many things went wrong with this dinner experience I don't know where to start.
First off let me say, the place was in no way busy nor understaffed.
-3 out of the 5 drinks specials they had listed on their menu, they could not make. It took our waiter 20 minutes to return to tell me they could not make the drink. Two additional attempts to order a drink resulted in the same result. We were told the manager would be over to talk to us (not requested, but appreciated) the manager went to 3 different tables before he found us. Informed us that they would have the necessary ingredients in the next few minutes, I opted to just wait. 30 minutes later I inquire to the waiter about the drink, he lets me know his manager put off going to the store until just a few minutes before. Now I understand you can't just leave, but do not tell the customer just a couple of minutes when that is not the case.
-Food, we went to watch a couple of football games, so we ordered 3 different appetizers at the start. This order was finally taken 20 minutes after our drink order. We ordered Italian nachos, chicken wings, and calamari. Again once the food came out, they went to 3 different tables before finding us. The nachos were supposed to be sausage, they turned out to be chicken, again not that big of deal. When I let the waiter know he said I ordered the combo. Which was not the case, and the nachos were not the combo anyway. The food wasn't that bad. Our waiter never refilled waters, never just stopped by the table, he had to be flagged down each time we wanted to order something or get the check. Again if they had been busy, I would understand, but the place was not even half full at the time.
- We were not the only table to have issues. Each table around us had a problem. One her drink order was incorrect twice, and the other table had the wrong food brought out. In none of these instances did a manager come out to apologize or offer anything to placate the customer. I am not in the habit of asking for free food or a comped drink, if I order I fully expect to pay. But given the high number of mistakes during our short stay, I would expect a manager to make some attempt to provide a solution to the poor service, to assure us we should return to their establishment.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Poor service, even more management, and they were out of more than one item.
My husband and I were treated And I would like to emphasize TREATED to dinner here by a couple who has been there several times and highly recommended the place. Â Â We had a good time, there was no waiting at early dinnertime, 6:30 Â or so on a Friday night. Â I had the chicken cordon blueI know I spelled it wrong, but it was really good, a little bit different than I have had before, but it was still good. It said it was served with a mushroom sauce, I asked our server if the mushrooms were big enough for me to pick out, as I don't like them. She said I'll get it on the side for you, Â I said great. Â My husband had Asian broccoli and beef and said it was really good. Â Mine came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The dinners came with house salad, Cesar or soup. Â I asked what the house dressing was and she said I guess our ranch salsa. Â I said is it really spicy? Â She said I'll put it on the side for you. Â I said thanks so much and she said no problem, happy to help. Â The couple taking us had a coupon for a free appetizer, we had cheesy onion sticks, Â i think that was the name of it served with the ranch salsa and it was a tiny bit spicy, but very good. The other couple said their dinners were very good also. Â I would recommend this to anyone. Â It was so much more than a sports bar menu, but they had lots of tvs tho so I guess it would be good for that too.
Review Source:Not happy with food, atmosphere or service. Â This place is called a sports bar, and has a few bar food items on the menu. Â It also has Asian items. Â If I wanted Asian items I would have gone next door. Â They have an identity crisis, not only with the offerings but the music as well. Â We heard country, hip-hop, disco and rock all during our hour visit. Â They had a d.j. Not sure why during a 7 o'clock dinner service. Â I couldn't wait to get out because of the bad music, horrible sound and lights flashing in my face. Â My husband and I ordered two appetizers and an entree and split them. Â We were not happy with the mushroom Swiss burger. Â The burger itself was not edible, it had so much gristle that you couldn't even cut it with a fork. Â It was so dry also, it was obviously a frozen product and cost $8. Â The cloud nachos with chicken had lunch mean draped on top of the chips. Â Strange, but the taste was ok. Â The servers, we had 2 different ones didn't come back to refill drinks or check on you. Â We had fries w/ no ketchup, by the time we got the ketchup we had asked for we were ready to leave. Â Likely will not return.
Review Source:We met here for a birthday party. There were 35 of us. They wouldn't take reservations for large parties, but said we could call ahead, which we did. When we arrived, the manager, Mike, was extremely rude to us. He said a group of 25 showed up before us, and even though we'd called in and they didn't, a call in isn't anything special, so he gave our space to them. He was not apologetic, he did not offer to help us right away, he had a "too bad for you" attitude. The place was relatively empty, and the people who were there were leaving as they were only there to watch a game. Â Mike did not appreciate that we were there to eat and drink all night, he didn't seem to feel like the restaurant could use our money. Â Eventually, we were sat. We had one server, which is a little too high of an expectation for most servers to have a group of 35 to themselves. Not to mention he had other tables. I don't blame the server, he did the best that he could. Our tables were littered with empty plates and glasses all night long. There was no teamwork from the manager or peers to clear tables.
Skylight is an odd place. It doesn't look like a Sports Bar other than they have lots of tvs. It is also odd that the back of the menu would have you believe you are at a sushi place, when the front of the menu is a sports bar menu. The food was pretty bad. They had a DJ who played music from the 80s and 70s and not really the good music you'd expect. I like him and all, but they played Luther Vandross. Not music for a bar. After about 11/11:30, a different crowd showed up and it was more of a club-like atmosphere (other than the pool tables off to the side), and due to people's requests the music became more appropriate. It actually ended up being the kind of place where people drop glasses all over the dance floor. It happened twice that I noticed, as we were splattered with the shards.
My sister also mentinoed that she'd been here once, and the server added several drinks to several tabs; so in addition to Mike the manager being rude, they may practice bad business. I don't want to assume this, one bad server doesn't reflect the business.
The best thing going for this place is at least the people watching was good.
