The pizza is great. Love the thin crust. I had the clam scampi which was absolutely delicious. We also got pepperoni and sausage & bell peppers.  The susage & bell peppers had a ranch sauce which I would recommend getting on the side.
The owner is interesting fellow; nice but don't expect a lot of small talk with him.
The pizza is fabulous; make sure you go.

Some of the best pizza around if you like a thin crust.  As the name suggests, they specialize in pizza by the slice.  However, if the owner pushed carryout more I think he'd sell a lot of whole pizzas too (Mostly because the dine in area is a dump).  However, I've got to admit that the variety and pizza quality here is amazing.  This place has some interesting flavors....potato, ranch, gyro, spinach & feta, etc.  This probably isn't the place to go to get a plain pizza, but if you must they have a terrific sausage pizza.  I still go here once in a while despite their problems (below).  If the owner fixed the problems I'd probably go 3-4 times per month.

    The Good:
    1. Great tasting pizza
    2. Awesome variety
    3. Affordable food & beer prices

    The Bad:
    1. Bathrooms are disgusting and they're often missing soap and paper towel.
    2. This place needs to be cleaned up.  You can say that some of the clutter is "decor" but overall, this place is a dump.  Behind the counter you can always see crap scattered everywhere.  Things look disorganized and it  makes you wonder about the cleanliness and safety of the food preparation.  There are a bunch of dated arcade games in the back.  Can't tell if this is a restaurant of a teen hangout.  However, since its almost always empty in the back I'm not sure its serving any purpose at all.   There is a giant tv in the front that has horrible picture quality and needs to be replaced.
    3.  The menu is confusing.  There is some kind of buffet deal here, but its not clear how it works and what you get.  This place has some unique pizzas and almost every time I'm there someone is asking what each pizza is and what the toppings are.  It would be nice if things were labeled to eliminate the guesswork.
    4. CASH ONLY.  People expect to be able to pay for pizza with a credit or debit card just like they do with every other pizza place in the area.  Raise your prices 3-4% if you must, but give your customers the ability to pay with plastic.  Studies have shown that customers spend more on average when credit cards are a payment option.
    5. The parking is horrible, but at the current location I'm not sure there is a fix to that.

Very good crust.  The more untraditional toppings are the best.

I have lived here my hole life (17 years) and love to travel and this is still my favorite pizza place I have ever been to

One of the best pizza places in Evansville. If you love hole-in-the-wall places that serve REALLY GOOD FOOD, then I recommend trying the Slice. If you want a more upscale atmosphere and over-the-top friendly service, then go to Pizza Hut. The owner who usually works behind the counter reminds me of a mix between the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld and my Grandfather (gruff, but endearing).

For me, it is all about the crust. It reminds me of Rome, Italy. It's thin and crunchy, but soft and chewy. My favorites are the Gyro Pizza and the Spinach & Feta Pizza. The ingredients are fresh. You can get a chance to view all of the pizzas of the day right in the window and order your slices from there.

The owner is a real jerk.  He's apathetic (and seems drunk on the job at times).  Every time I've been in here, which was fairly often when I was a UE student, he seemed unconcerned with keeping repeat customers.  I suppose he knows people will keep coming back because of the lack of restaurant options around campus.  Two stars only because the pizza is good.

It is funny that it was literally across the street from my college and yet I probably didn't eat there as much as I should have...  and now I miss it!  The Slice is not your average pizza place... and that's why I love it!  It may look a little rundown, but that is its charm, its character... which a lot of restaurants are lacking today.  You go in and you can take a look at the pizzas in the window to help you decide what you want.

The pizza has a very thin crust and once it comes out of the oven it is nice and crispy on the edges and just a tiny bit chewy when it needs to be.  When you visit The Slice, you don't order the pepperoni or the cheese or the sausage...  you could and I'm sure they're ok, but the reason everyone comes back are the "unusual" pizzas...  like the Potato Pizza (it used to be called the Mr. Potatohead in my day)...  slices of red potatoes (with skin on) and cheese and when they ask if you want some of the tzatziki sauce on it, you do.  Trust me.  You do.  It is so delicious and yet so simple.  The Gyro Pizza is delicious as well and one of my favourites.  The spinach and feta is wonderful as well.  They also used to do a Chicken Fajita pizza which was delicious as well!  Not sure what you are seeing in the window?  The owner might be a bit intimidating (maybe even a bit on the grumpy side), but don't be afraid to ask.  After you order your slice(s), you can order one or two to start with, they'll stick them in the oven to heat them the rest of the way through while you grab a seat and wait for them to call you.

They did a lunch and dinner special where you could get so many slices and a drink for a flat rate, which is good for those of us that order the pizzas with tons of toppings (the price of the pizza slices is determined by the toppings).  If the owner is behind the counter, he'll have you pay after you've finished, but if it is anyone else, they'll probably make you pay beforehand.  And...  they have an RC fountain machine...  and while RC is not my favourite carbonated beverage of choice, there is something about their RC that is really good and just goes with the pizza.

Not to mention it is pretty cheap for the amount of food you get.  And it is not just popular with the college students...  there are lots of people that stop in and you should too!

Best pizza in Evansville.  Great variety of toppings, thin crust.   I think they truly care about the pizza they are making.  Owner is a little grumpy, but don't take it to heart.  Sometimes he is quite nice.  Be quick with your order and have cash in hand, it seems to improve his mood.   Only wish is that they would cover up the insulation at the top of the oven hood.  I always imagine little sprinkles of fiberglass and asbestos on my slice.  But the pizza is so good, I go back, insulation and all.

The Slice is an Evansville staple.  This run-down little pizza joint oozes with hole-in-the-wall character and matches this unique character with a wealth of creative pizza choices.  Gyro, taco, ranch, & spinach are my personal favorites, but I like to keep it fresh and often try the crazy new concoctions that Eric (the owner) dishes out.  Orders are taken by the slice and I recommend getting 2 at first, then if your stomach will hold, try out 2 more and get the buffet price, a steal at $6.50 with a soft drink.  One last thing, don't forget to ask for the tzatziki if you order gyro, or potato for some extra creamy goodness.

The Slice is by far my favorite pizza place in Evansville, maybe anywhere!  The ranch pizza is addicting and is easily my favorite (ranch dressing, cheese blend, & tomatoes), but the potato pizza is a close second.  Ask for the tzatziki sauce on the potato pizza, it's delicious! Go with the buffet option for the best price, it is offered all day long, and you can sample as many slices as you like.  They only take cash, but they have an atm.

I judge pizza by how it is when it is plain, just cheese and sauce...and this place does it right.  I am a New Jersey native and i know good pizza.  I have been craving NY style pizza since i moved to Evansville and have only been able to find thin crust bar pies, thick crust, or deep dish style pizza...until I stumbled across this establishment  I was so happy when i walked through the door to discover that i can actually order just one slice, where at most places around here, you need to order an entire pizza.  I had one plain and one with mushrooms, red onion, green peppers and green olives - both were delicious.  Between my daughter and I we had 3 slices of pizza and 2 drinks and paid under $10.  I have a feeling I will become a regular at The Slice.

The Slice has the best pizza. I first discovered The Slice when I attended the University of Evansville....a GREAT college by the way. The decor....not so much....just don't pay attention to it and it won't matter. The pizza....it is awesome. While they have the typical sausage and pepperoni pizza, they also have pizzas like Spinach and Feta and Mr. Potato Head (Potato, cheese, onion with taziki sauce). They sound weird, but they are amazing. Go for the food and beer! Ignore the decor. Eric the owner is usually there. He appears to be a grump, but is a nice guy. Just think of him as a lovable Soup Nazi! I always stop at the Slice when I am in Evansville. I love their pizza!

that ranch pizza is the stuff dreams are made of. such a simple concept, but so perfectly executed. i'm a fan of the light and crispy when it comes to pizza, and the slice's slices are perfectly seasoned, textured, and tasty without a huge pile of toppings.

don't let the surly pizza man talk to you about your sex life. just take your delicious pizza and your styrofoam cup and back away from the surly pizza man.

My all-time favorite pizza place.  I haven't lived in Evansville in six years, but every time I come back to visit my parents I have to eat at The Slice.  I could count the number of really amazing things in Evansville on one hand, and this would be my thumb.

That said, don't come here and get cheese pizza or some crap like that.  Get the ranch pizza, get the margherita, get the potato pizza, get the gyro pizza, or the grinder pizza, or the carmelized onions and goat cheese pizza.  Get something that looks like you have no idea what is on it.  It will be amazing, I promise you this.  If you disagree, you probably should expand your palate a bit and return at a later date.

If you plan on having more than two slices, get the buffet deal and you'll get a free drink with it.  Remember, they only take cash, and (like no other business I've ever seen) they round all transactions to the nearest quarter.

The owner, Eric (once nicknamed "surly pizza man" by an acquaintance of mine), is a character, and can be quick to strike up a conversation or might stare at you like he doesn't care one way or another if you exist.  Sometimes he does both at the same time.  I am somewhat terrified that he will read this and ask me about it the next time I come in, because he always seems to remember me, no matter how many years it's been since the last time I visited.

Firstly, the name should say "The Slice," not "Slice the."

I really like the Slice mainly because they have toppings that most places don't.  What would those toppings be? Eggplant, artichoke hearts, pepperoncini peppers, pesto, sun dried tomatoes. . . you get the point.

They only make thin crust, so if you like it another way you're out of luck.  I've never had a bad pizza from here although I know some have said that they have gotten one with a soggy crust, but I've personally never experienced this.

The best thing? They don't think I'm weird when I order a pizza with a bunch of vegetables and no cheese.
