My experience at sliders was the worst yet for any establishment  operating in the 21st Century. I found that it was more than obvious that our skin color did not fit the color sceme of the patrons they prefer. Though I have frequented Sliders in Plainville several times and warmly taken care of by Cindy, and  the Twin Brothers that are bartenders and always got the best Wings from Joanne in the kitchen little can be said for another bartender who didn't even know me at the soft opening of the West Hartford Sliders because she never spoke to me before. The night of the soft opening I ordered a beer and sat for another 45 min. Till I got a young man who was cleaning to find someone who would serve me another beer. However on the other side of the bar where people were completely wasted  and still being served left and right I found that to be quite disturbing and even  though I waited along time for my free wings and beer I still made them charge me for sauce so I could tip. My second encounter in West  Hartford I was waiting for an employee to get off work the hostess was aware of that she seated me and my guest from out of town in a section once the person working came to the table I politely asked to female servers if they could just find out who had the section I was in and both of them looked at me with the how dare you ask for my help and basically told me it wasn't there section, I expressed to them both I only asked could you find out who's section it was and neither seemed obliged to help I therefore went to the hostess and found out for myself. It ended up being 1 of the 2 that didn't want to help me at first. She apologized and expressed she didn't mean to act that way she didn't know it was her table. I expressed that I only asked for help to find out who's table it was and I didn't feel that they wanted to serve us at all. Bottom line I was still quite generous with her tip because you can't judge a book by its cover. I don't believe in forcing my ethnicity on an establishment that doesn't want me in it. The wings were okay the mini burgers that my guest ordered she threw away. I prefer to give my hard earned money to people that don't mind my race.
Review Source:We heard about this place from a write up from a local webpage and decided to check it out. Â The place was easy to find with ample parking. Â It's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Â Fairly typical sports bar decor. Â The service was decent although I felt we had to wait a little long for our food. Â The menu was decent typical bar food, their specialty being wings. Â I ordered 12 wings with the sweet and spicy sauce. Â The wings were pretty meaty although I thought they were a little tough and on the dry side even with the sauce. Â One of the things I didn't like was that the blue cheese dressing is served in a little 2 oz condiment cup, that was about 3/4 full, I asked for more and was told that it costs 75 cents. Â I also heard from my neighbor who happened to be there at the same time, that they were charged on their refills of ice tea, this was not brought to their attention until they saw it on their check!! Â I really don't like being nickled and dimed that way, I realise things cost money but it wasn't like the food was really inexpensive and they needed to cover all their costs. Â Also I filled out a form on their website complaining about this and as of yet have recieved no response. Â All in all this place is nothing special and I doubt we will be going there again.
