I learned about this place last week and have eaten there twice already. I'm a fan!!! If you are a fan of the dry rubbed prepared bbq you'll like theirs. The sauce is nice too. The staff is very accommodating and the cook a perfectionist. I was privileged enough to be invited to the kitchen where I was introduced to the big smokers that is partially responsible for the great tasting bbq - IMPRESSIVE! Now Smokin Racks is my first choice when I'm in the mood for bbq. It's in a league of its own as it tastes like none of the other joints in town and that is a good thing.
Review Source:After my visit, I can only give the place two stars due to the "meh" factor. As I waited for my order, I was told by the passing manager (owner?) they make most things onsite, leaving me with high expectations. However, the ribs I ordered were the dry variety, versus wet ones I truly prefer. I won't hold that personal preference against the ribs, but the meet was a tad dry. The ribs did have a nice smoky flavor with lots of meat on the bones, but they weren't moist inside. The real turn off was the flavorless mac-n-cheese. It was certainly cheesy, but almost flavorless somehow. I added a dash of salt and moved onto the bar-b-que baked beans. I really didn't like them, as they has an artificial smoked flavor. It tasted like the fake liquid smoke you added when making jerky. but hey, the toast was good.
Overall, I can't get excited about going back and will have to look for some good, wet ribs elsewhere. meh.
I went on a really packed evening (Sunday) with a group. It was packed to capacity and they only had 2 servers so yeah...the server/waitress we had was really great and upbeat especially with the given situation (they called in another waitress later), the live band was fantastic! I also really liked their karaoke and the music videos of old school R&B. Oh and I really loved their Fruitinis! (Wild Berry) I'm planning on checking it out again on a less packed night
