Calimari is awesome!  Could go just to eat that and the fried green tomatoes.  Everythingis great though - sea bass and black and blue chicken sandwich rock.  Good wine and beer selection.

The first time I went to SOHO was several years ago for a business lunch.  I thought it was alright but nothing special.  Since then I've been to SOHO dozens of times and now it's one of my faves.  Their menu is pretty big so take time to find what you like.  The artisan cheese board and the flight of wine on Wednesday nights are excellent on their patio. The calamari is consistently good, the pork chop and the steak specials are yummy too.
My favorite dish, their Butternut Squash Soup is out of this world!!  It's soooooo GOOOD.
They have a full bar with a decent wine list and you can eat at the bar too.  SOHO is a solid bistro in an upscale shopping village.  The staff is well versed and friendly.

KICK BACK INTO A FRIENDLY COMFORT of SOHO

Roll back the clock to 1997.  It was the year that DVD players became commercially available for a mere $1000, Celine Dion won album of the year, and SOHO opened its doors in the Vinings Jubilee complex as a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to go for a great meal and a good time.  Today, DVD players have changed to a Blu-Ray format, Mumford & Sons won this years album of the year, and SOHO has remained true to form for the past 16 years as the "Cheers of Vinings" where the staff and patrons are on first name basis basking in the moment.  Named after the artsy SoHo District in New York City, owners Frank and Susan Smith have brought that New York-like classy, hip flair to their highly popular restaurant where newcomers are quickly treated as regulars. The cornerstone of SOHO is its outstanding Pan Asian-Nouveau American menu that is managed by the multi-talented Executive Chef Joe Ahn. As an equal to the food is the instant gratification from SOHO's welcoming hospitality, and if I didn't know better I would have thought its name was derived from Southern Hospitality.

One of the noticeable features at SOHO is its display of high quality local art that's scattered throughout the restaurant, as well as its outstanding wine program.  Each week an offering is assembled highlighting three distinctive wines from various vinicultural regions or varietals creating a theme to explore as a flight or individually with savory tapas designed to complement their unique characteristics.  What a way to expand ones knowledge and appreciation of wines that might otherwise be overlooked. In addition to the wines of the weeks, the Smith's have put together a "spot on" wine list where value meets quality head-on.  If something other than wine is needed to soften the day's edge, there's an assortment of titillating libations to choose from.  The one cocktail that I found that can easily transport the mind to some sunny beach is the Bahama Holiday- Malibu Banana Rum, Canton Ginger liqueur, fresh coconut juice, lime and a pinch of cardamom- this is a destination get-away in a glass.

When a dish is listed on the menu for 16 years, I guess you consider it a house favorite.  One of these "don't you dare remove it from the menu" is the Chicken Tortilla Soup; yes a soup. No matter if you feel a bit sluggish from a cold or simply want something warm and comforting, Chef Ahn's recipe is packed full of vigor and umami with chucks of shredded chicken in a rich homemade chicken stock that's loaded with crisp tortilla chips, sweet corn, spicy chili peppers, zesty cilantro and tangy limes.  If this doesn't liven up the palate then the General Joey's Calamari surely will.  This is a throwback to the days when Chef Ahn worked in his family's eatery, Fuji-Ya in Gettysburg, PA. Tender morsels of squid are flash fired then tossed is an exhilarating ginger- soy glaze with diced Serrano pepper, garlic, and scallions - yum.  Equally as savory as the calamari is the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio. The paper thin slices of eye of the round are drizzled with a housemade creamy Dijon sauce that adds an enticing tingle to this ultra tender melt in the mouth meat.  It's topped with field greens, shaved asiago cheese, shallots and capers that are fried, and a wedge of toasted Parmesan bread.  This is a meat lover's dream come true.

As with the starters, there are several time-honored entrees that should not to be missed at least in this lifetime. One of these masterfully prepared dishes is the Chilean Sea Bass that has been seared to perfection that has a slight crisp coating that opens to pure lushness with its moist buttery texture.  The lemongrass beurre blanc, ginger, and shallots gives this fish a thrilling taste and is served over a mound of forbidden rice with a side of sautéed baby bok choy. If your carnivore instincts need satisfying then either the Beef Short Ribs or the Elk Tenderloin will do the trick.  The boneless Painted Hills short ribs are slow-cooked for 6 hours in a burgundy based braising and served with horseradish mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach.  Whereas, the grilled New Zealand Elk Tenderloin is an explosion of rich exotic flavors without any gaminess and is dressed with a raspberry and Dijon marinade with a side of sweet potato gratin and haricot verts.  These offerings re-define comfort, as they are absolutely stunning.

Leave a touch of space in the appetite to complete the culinary tour of Chef Joey's kitchen for the warm decadent Chocolate Bread Pudding that's drizzled with a duo of rich caramel sauces and scoop of old-fashioned vanilla ice cream - it's an instant ticket to sweet dreams.  For over 16 years, SOHO has served creative foods and lively libations, and is still the place to go when in Vinings for a good time with friends or soon to be friends and who knows you just might meet your next BFF there.  Enjoy!!!

We wanted something intimate and nice but not too noisy for a late Valentine's Day night cap.  The bar here was just what we needed.  The drinks were a little strong but the warm chocolate bread pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream was worth writing about.

This has become a fan favorite for our family

We visited again yesterday and had another really good meal

We had some soup to start - she crab and butternut squash - both were very good and the she crab was nice and creamy

For dinner, we had the salmon, the filet special, the lobster tail special and the pasta bolognese - everyone really liked the food

The portions are large, so we ended up taking home some of everything

I also for e first brought my own wine - their policy is $15 corkage and they only do it if your wine is not on their list (their Los is small, but very good)

All in all another really good meal - iris not cheap, but very reliable and their food has excellent flavor

    Enjoy!

Been to SOHO twice now, and it certainly has 5 star potential. Recently moved within walking distance, and I'm very thankful to have a restaurant like this nearby!  The first time we visited the service was excellent - the second time, I got the impression they were understaffed and our server seemed to be struggling, but it wasn't for lack of effort.

    Dish Details
-cheese plate, had it both times and both times it was excellent, albeit a bit different each time. Fantastic Brie!
-Fried Green Tomato BLT - Goat Cheese, Fried Green Tomato, Bacon, and Roasted Red Pepper Remoulade sounds fantastic...but this was a surprising yawner.
-Warm Smoked Salmon - A nice appetizer special - a touch bland, but still quite good.
-Elk Tenderloin - good, although I probably would have liked to see a better sear on the outside. The mashed sweet potatoes it was served with were outstanding, though - many places go too sweet for my taste, but these were perfect.
-Sea Bass - cooked absolutely perfectly, with a nice crust and nice flavor. The "purple sticky rice" it was served over was excellent as well - my only complaint would be I'd have like a little more of the buerre blanc.
-Blackened Grouper - these guys know what they're doing with fish. Definitely a worthwhile dish.

    Overall, Soho is pretty good.

    GOOD:
    - They take reservations.
    - We were seated quickly.
    - Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable.
    - My salad was very good.
    - My entree was good, but not exceptional.

    BAD:
    - The mens washroom was crusty and old, with rusted and corroded metal on the walls.  If the washroom looks this bad, what does the kitchen look like?

In summary, I'm glad Vinings has Soho to round out dinner options, but they really need to consider refreshing the whole inside - tables, decor, and washrooms.

Great location. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. Not so great wine list.

Went for dinner on a Friday night and had the elk tenderloin. This was my first taste of elk and I was extremely impressed. It was served with a sweet potato au gratin and asparagus.

We also had the calamari appetizer, which was extremely plentiful and hands down the best calamari I have ever had.

The service was top notch, including the hostess. The single issue I had with this place was their wine list, or lack thereof. I saw only one Brunello on the list and only two Syrah's to choose from, which was disappointing.

My girlfriend and I met for a drink at Soho last night at around 8pm.  Since we were just having drinks and not dining, we didn't want to take up a table on a busy Friday night so we opted to sit at the bar.  The bar area was very overcrowded (which is typical of a Friday night anywhere in Atlanta).  I did feel like they were trying to fit one too many chairs in the bar area to accomodate everyone sitting down, but it made me feel like I was elbow to elbow with the people next to us.

The drink menu is great! I thought it was just a wine bar but they actually have a full bar menu. My friend got the sangria (it was red, it had one slice of orange and one lime so if you're the kind of person who likes to eat all the fruit in the glass, this is not the sangria for you), and she said it was really good.  I think it was around $10.  I ordered a lemon drop martini.  I am very specific about my martini's. I don't like a lot of sugar, I'm specific about my vodka, and I know a good one when I taste one.  That was the BEST lemon drop martini I have ever had.  It was $12, but it was a very good portion.

I would definately go again.  I agree with the poster  who said that the crowd is the "over 30s crowd".  I'm 27 and my friend is 26 and we were absolutely the youngest people there but that didn't bother me at all.  I think the reason for that is because the prices for the food are a little higher than the surrounding places (think Canoe).  Not a lot of people under 30 can just throw down $70 for dinner/drinks for two.  Hence the older crowd, they simply can afford it =)

I actually prefer the crowd. It's a lot quieter and classier than Noche and Meehan's.  I would call it my favorite drink spot, but I really like Marlows Tavern.  I will go on the record of saying Soho has the best cocktails in Vinings.

    What a disappointment...
Maybe my expectation was too high for this place?

Let's start with my good experience since there is only ONE good thing and TOO MANY bad things to talk about. Sigh..
    Their calamari appetizer was great.
calamari is cut in a big piece than most of other restaurants, but crispy and asian style glazed sauce really goes well with calamari. If you like spicy, you can use the sriracha chili sauce they use to decorate the dish. After we taste this, I thought our main dishes were going to be awesome, but I was WRONG!!

    Ok, where to start...
My party was 4 adult and two kids, we decide to sit outdoor because it was so nice out- bad idea!! Our server brought high chairs out finally after I asked for them 2 times.
Outdoor patio has no lights, not even candle lights, so we had to eat in the dark. Only light was the streets light from the parking lot. and So may mosquitoes!! eek!
Our server was too busy serving people in the restaurant, so whenever we needed her she was not found. Only times we saw her was when she took our order, brought out drink and food, and of course our check.

My biggest complaint comes from food. I'm a bid sea bass fan.
Soho's sea bass is the worst sea bass I ever had. Maybe the texture was ok, but it had absolutely no flavor! How they can make this incredibly tasteful fish so bland and no taste?!? In fact, all the main entrees we order were under seasoned. None of my party finished all the portion because it was very under seasoned.
My side was sticky wild rice which was way too under cooked. Come on, I heard Soho owner/chef is Korean, Asian guy doesn't know how to cook rice? I taste better cooked sticky rice than Soho's rice everyday.
I felt like I got ripped off because we were still hungry after we ate but the check was very expensive.

Only reason I gave one star is because of calamari dish, Otherwise it would be  zero star. Service/Food/outdoor seating/price=all bad.
Not recommending this place at all.

I've been a big fan of SOHO since moving to Vinings 2 + years ago. They've managed to stick around because I remember having lunch here probably 10 years ago!
I love the scene at the bar.. Everyone is so friendly..except Dollar & Frank... They are pretty much unfriendly!  Eric, Trey and Evan... These guys keep the customers coming back!  Professional, warm, friendly... The entire staff is warm... Except Dollar & Frank... Have I said that?
I love the tapas because I love tasting the delicious offerings that are always changing. The tuna nicoise tapa last night was AMAZING!!! Hats off to the incredible chef!
    See y'all soon!

So I met my sister-in-laws here and had a drink at the bar and dinner. Nice atmosphere with the crowd being mostly over 30. And not too crowded for a Saturday night. Decent wine list- prices a little bit high I thought, but not ridiculous.
We sat down to eat, nice smallish dining area. I had the grilled flat iron steak with pommes frites. it wasn't that good. The steak marinade flavor was odd. One sis-in-law had the NY strip and it was just OK. The other sister-in-law had the sea bass and that was very good. Really buttery and cooked perfectly. the side was purple sticky rice. Previous reviews of the rice were that it was kind of bland. Well they must have kicked that up a notch because it was good too. Ordered two desserts- the chocolate bread pudding, which was good, but didn't taste a lot like bread pudding, more like chocolate chess pie to me. And blueberry cobbler- once again, just OK, it almost seemed microwaved.

Overall opinion, don't go here for the food (other than that sea bass) it's just mediocre. Nice place to meet for a drink though. It's the atmosphere and location that make it what it is.

I came to SOHO last night for the first time.  Very nice setting - outdoor seating, good ambiance.  Also quite lucky that the weather was perfect.

Our server was good - polite, attentive, and answered our questions.

I went simple and ordered a burger at medium temperature.  What I received was a crunchy hockey puck that didn't have the slightest bit of pink inside and no juicyness to speak of.  I ordered the purple rice as a side.  It was simply wild rice with a purple coloring with no flavor whatsoever (heck, at least throw in a sodium cube if you don't want to put in any spices).  My date ordered the fried green tomatoes and the beet salad.  She thought the tomatoes were a bit over breaded.  She didn't comment on the salad but both of her dishes were largely uneaten.

Fortunately Cold Stone was within walking distance :)

Nice place, but if I do come back, it will be strictly for drinks.

Soho is another favorite lunch spot of mine in historic Vinings. The patio is lovely for taking a break from a hectic workday to just relax with a glass of sweet tea. Everything I've tried on the menu - salads, pastas, fried green tomatoes and other Southern fare - have been decent but never wowed me. I'd love it if Soho came up with some sort of lunch special. There are so many offices in the Vinings area it would set the place apart by having a drink/sandwich/salad combo.

A few years ago I came to Soho for a birthday dinner and that's the only time I've drank here. The wine list is good (again, not great, I'd love some more innovation) and the martinis did their trick. Surely I'll be back again since I literally work around the corner. Maybe the combo special Soho really needs on the menu is a 3 Martini lunch. Now that would make the workday a helluva lot easier!

I recently came here with my bridesmaids for flight night and we had a great time. They give you a lot of wine - practically three full regular glasses, so beware. ;)

I always enjoy the food and vibe whenever I visit. As usual, many of us got the sliders which I recommend for anyone dining here. Even if burgers aren't your thing, they have some fun options like crab cake or fried green tomato sliders. I mean, who doesn't love crab and green tomatoes!?

I've had several of SOHO's dishes - most recently the salmon appetizer which was much larger than I was expecting. It was fresh but the sauce was a bit on the salty side. I've also tasted their pork chop entree and several of their appetizers. The food here is always reliable and comforting. I don't think I've ever been disappointed! There's a dining section on the left side of the entrance, but I prefer eating at the bar and ordering drinks. Much funner vibe. :)

My co-workers and manager took me out for lunch at Soho. Since I am not very familiar with the Cobb County area, I didn't mind. Interior of Soho has this traditional feel and look. The waitress was really sweet. I ordered the turkey wrap and bokchoy. It was huge! I wasn't able to finish it at all. It had lots of flavor

I dined here last night for my work's holiday party.  This restaurant is tucked away in a cute little shopping center.  Out of all the restaurants that I've been to for my work's holiday party, this one is my favorite so far. My only complaint is that it's so far away from my house.

The food here is delicious and the service was pretty good.  My husband and I had the hawaiian tuna poke and the wagyu beef carpaccio for our appetizers. Both apps were good but not the best that we've had.  I had a bite of my friend's calamari and that was really good!

For our next course, we had the butternut squash soup and spinach salad. The butternut squash soup was creamy and delicious. The spinach salad was ok.

We had the beef tenderloin and sesame tuna for our entrees. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and just melted in my mouth.  The sesame tuna was good by itself, but it was the cucumber salad and sushi rice that made it complete.

Creme brulee and a belgian waffle with toffee ice cream topped off our holiday feast. The creme brulee was super yummy! The sugar on top was torched perfectly and not burnt. The toffee ice cream and belgian waffle went very well together. I loved the different textures of the two.

Hopefully my work will have our holiday party here again next year!

Soho is a nice neighborhood spot.  It's close to historic Vinings with easy in and out.  I like the space, urban and contemporary though still blending with the area.

The cocktail list is decent and unique, but they could do with a little elevation of the art side, moving them towards the big block of ice, home-made syrups and custom concoctions that many mid to high end restaurants are doing.

The menu is varied.  I've nearly always had some kind of tuna on the menu.  I don't know why, but it's just worked out that way.  This last weekend, they had a nice tuna special:  seared ahi on purple sticky rice with spicy broccoli as a side.  While the fish was sushi grade, it clearly had come cut.  They weren't preparing it off a tuna sitting in the back, like a good sushi restaurant.  As such, it tasted slightly processed, but definitely still high restaurant grade.

For a drink, I had the cucumber, hendricks, soda and whatever else.  It was tasty for a summer drink but could have used more muddled cucumber....no let me say it needed SOME muddled cucumber.  Sure they put in slices of cucumber, but there was little botanical taste conveyed as they just dropped it in.  That was disappointing.  Restaurants at this price point should have greater focus on their bar scene.

My girlfriend and I have been going to Soho for some time now.  We generally sit at the bar when we eat out but do so at Soho, in particular, because the service is much better than at the tables.  The couple times we have at eaten at the tables, service was mediocre to poor on a number of counts: took too long to take our drink and meal orders, difficulty getting refills, or took too long to take the tab.

At the bar, we have often been immediately waited upon but occasionally had to wait a couple minutes when it was busy.  The bartenders are knowledgeable and courteous although I feel they could be a bit friendlier.

Our go-to orders at Soho are the mussels in a wine sauce app and the Apple & Sausage ravioli entree.  Both are very good.  The mussels are good but the bigger draw for me is the wine sauce.  After we finish the mussels, I can go through two orders of bread to soak up the rest of the sauce!  Usually, we'll share the mussels, raviolis and another appetizer for dinner which satisfies us.  I've seen complaints on here about the crab cakes.  Actually they seemed tasty to me but they are rather expensive.

Others have reported how expensive Soho is.  I agree in general but it seems that their menu options add something unique to the traditional.  A note to the discount-savvy types out there: in the past, we've discovered Soho provided a free slider to first-time 4 Square users when checking in.  Also, Soho provides a loyalty diner program.  Granted these aren't real big deals and even I don't really like the idea of having to track down and use discounts but it is kinda fun to feel like you're getting something for free.

Soho will probably remain on our rotation for us in the Vinings area since dining at the bar provides us the best mix of social dining and good, reliable food.

I've eaten here twice, both while traveling on business to Atlanta. I have to say, for what I've witnessed in GA for 'finer' dining...this place always hits the spot.

The service is friendly, it's always easy to get a table, and the food is above average...especially for the price!

My only complaint is I wish they would upgrade their wine list, especially in the sparkling department.

The place was so crowded even though we had reservations, we would have had to wait for almost an hour for a table inside, but since it was a nice September night, we sat outside on the patio. Surprisingly this turned out to be quite nice. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating the food was good. Lastly the wine recommendation was outstanding so much so that I now keep a bottle or two on hand at all times.
When back in the Atlanta area, I will return.

I ate here with a close friend January 31, 2011. I strongly recommend making reservations and using the website OpenTable was very easy and free. Lots of folks had to wait a while.
The food was outstanding and my taste buds are still very happy 24 hours later. We ordered the calamari (YUM) and the cheese plate was good too. We ordered the seared ahi tuna entree with cucumber salad and it was amazing! I had a chocolate martini which was out of this world and their cheesecake was so light and creamy.
I definitely plan to return again.
Our server John T. "Mocha" was super friendly and made excellent recommendations.

I highly recommend this place..and reservations!

My BF and I came here on a weekday for dinner before a movie. We did make reservations online but we probably did not have to (lots of open tables when we arrived). The location is a bit difficult to find (it's amidst a lot of small shops) but it's cute - there is some outdoor seating and plenty of nooks and crannies indoors to give you semi-private dining. Service was prompt, waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable and all-in-all it was a good dining experience.

We ordered three appetizers to start - the calamari was just meH (we ended up not finishing most of it), but I was definitely a fan of the fried green tomatoes (though it was VERY heavy). We also got the carpaccio - it was good and refreshing but not memorable. I will say though that the portion sizes for these appetizers was impressive. We were getting pretty full just from these three dishes. For the entrees we got the beef bolognese and the short ribs. The bolognese was...boring - the pasta was a bit on the soft side and the dish was lacking flavor. The short ribs were very tender and delicious, and I thought the veggies it came with were a good go-with.

All in all I left stuffed and sleepy. Price-wise, it was a reasonable meal (I had a groupon) but I'm on the fence about whether I will be coming back for another meal.

Came here on a random night for a meal since our groupon was about to expire soon. It was my first visit to a place in Vinings and the area looks very quaint.... I don't know how else to describe it. SoHo itself seemed a nice neighborhood dining spot. Thanks to fellow Yelpers we ordered the kobe beef carpaccio, fried green tomatoes, and the supposedly signature calamari. The carpaccio was surprisingly good even though the portion was gigantic. I'm gonna have to call them out on the beef though. It was NOT kobe....still good though. The fried green tomatoes were average, a lil greasy and overfried for my liking. The calamari looked like an entree portion. Looking back, all the apps were entree sizes. **not complaining about that**

The gf and I decided on braised short ribs, and the beef bolognese. Both were decent and portions like the apps were more than generous. The ribs were soft and tender as could be. I just wished the sauce had more flavor. It just got a bit bland after a while. The service and decor were both great. All the staff made you feel welcome and it just had a good vibe. I wouldn't have come here without the Groupon and I don't think the food warrants another visit though.

I have to say, I wanted the reviews for this place to be wrong.  My husband and I went for our anniversary and it was just not that great.  Overpriced for one, and service was just OK.  The environment and location are great... just really need to step up the quality of the food and/or lower the prices cause it was not worth the $120 tab.
Could have gone to Hal's for $15 more and been much happier.
Love that Yelp had it right.. next time I will go with the reviews and choose otherwise!

I came to SOHO because I purchased a Groupon coupon.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is great and the service is amazing.

However, I found the food way overpriced for what you get.  I know it's supposed to be fine dining, but I've had much better food for less.  For the prices I paid for my entree (short ribs), I would've expected quality comparable to Canoe, but I actually like the short ribs at Atkins Park better... for half the price.

I may not go here for dinner again.  However, I would definitely return for a happy hour.

They had "Flight Night" - 3 half glasses of wine from one region for $13.50.  The half glasses were about as full as the full glasses.  If you add a Tapas appetizer, it's $18 for the whole thing.  That's a reasonable deal.  And the wine was fantastic.  While I didn't have any cocktails, they did have some on their menu that were highly intriguing.

Oh, and on a side note - stay away from the Chocolate Bread Pudding... that was just wrong!!

So wonderful!  Every time I go, it gets better and better.  This place is more than just good eats; it's quickly becoming my favorite stress-busting, spa-like, (not-so)guilty pleasure of choice.  I'm hooked.

I first went to SoHo for lunch in the early spring.  Sitting out in the sun-room, drinking a wonderful (half) glass of Le Creme Chardonnay (I'm a total lightweight), I didn't think it could possibly get any better.  But I ordered the eggplant curry.  I was worried because even though I love eggplant curry, the kind I have tried before were very gooey and buttery.  This was nothing like that.  It was so light and fresh and flavorful.  It was almost too good to be true!  The chickpea and scallion pancakes were savory and went well with the curry.  For only $9, it's a winner!

Many weeks later, I still found my mouth watering at the faint thought of that delicious meal.  I had to go back.  The perfect occasion was a furlough Friday.  In the midst of personal, economic recession, I am still able to find complete serenity in that lovely sun-room...and a glass of Urbans Riesling.  Gosh that stuff is good!  This time, I opted for the crab cake salad.  Absolute bliss.  Again, I was slightly worried because it came tossed in a creamy goat's cheese and serrano dressing.  I asked for the dressing on the side, but I found that the dressing, though creamy and flavorful, was not too heavy.  It was the perfect consistency of smooth and delicate.  I would not worry about asking for the dressing on the side in the future; everything they do is just right.  The meal was perfectly satisfying, but I was interested in dessert!  Now, I'm a sucker for hot banana and they had it!  Wonderful sweet bananas, rolled in crunchy macadamia nuts and  fried tempura style with honey on top!  Be still my little heart!!!

Last week, my cat died.  I was devastated.  At that point, I knew that the only thing that could help alleviate the blues would be a visit to SoHo. I was right.  A few glasses of delicious wine, some of their bread with awesome herb butter, and the perfect meal of juicy, Dijon chicken with goat cheese Yukon potatoes and the crispiest green beans was enough to bring me out of the misery. Heavenly.  I would have liked to continue drowning my sorrows in a wonderful dessert, but we called it quits before I was able to jump off the diet cliff.  *whew*

Though SoHo can be a little pricier than most restaurants I frequent, they make fantastic foods with service to match.  They also seem to cater to the needs of those trying to watch their waste lines.  The food is delicious, but doesn't seem greasy or excessively fattening.  Also, their portion sizes are spot on!  Probably smaller than most restaurants, they are the perfect size for a sensible meal.  I am able to eat every bite without feeling stuffed or in need of a to-go container.

    L-O-V-E this place.

Easy location off the Highway in the Vinings area. Comfortable atmosphere, kind of like having lunch in someone's country home.

    Highlights:
    Tomato and basil salad
Thai Style Salmon (appetizer size was plenty) - great flavor, very fresh.
Hanger steak tacos (damn, I shouldn't have had the salmon app...)
    Good gin and tonic

Soho is a beautiful little spot right in the heart of Vinings. Upon first perusal of the menu, I didn't see much that I was interested in. I wasn't in the mood for a steak (sorry, Su!) and none of the fish options were appealing, so I decided to go with two appetizers, the lobster bisque (a special) and the kobe miniburgers.

The lobster bisque was okay, but I had just watched Barefoot Contessa make one the day prior and I'm pretty sure I would have rather had hers. Again, the miniburgers were tasty but not nearly as good as my beloved Matchbox in DC, and there were only 2 per serving.

Service was great and I really enjoyed the wine list. It's a beautiful spot and everyone else seemed to enjoy their food, so I certainly wouldn't be against a return visit!

    So- NOT!

Not impressed folks. Mediocre food. Spotty service. There are much better out there. I disliked the spices in their "jerk" chicken quasedilla - was that cumin or cilantro? NOT a Jamaican taste. The calamari was ok- when a companion ordered it again as an entree it was served with a drizzle of chili paste- where was mine??? Consistency and excellence are the name of the game when you are charging these prices.

Located in historical Vining, this Asian fusion influenced restaurant is AMAZING!

I have been there many times (over 15) and have always received the best experience a person could expect. Calamari! Calamari! Calamari! Calamari!
Other favs include the slider (a permanent special) to the mexi-style flank steak to the memorable elk tenderloin. Everything is amazing here. NEVER had a bad dish.

For Dessert, get the sampler and try it all, highlights include... the banana NY cheese cake. (I probably have the actual description a bit off, but basically it had banana puddling on top of a piece of melt in your mouth cheese cake)

Pretty nice and charming place for a business dinner (or date) in the Vinings area. We sat in the back area overlooking The Vining's Jubilee Courtyard and it was nice to see some southern architecture (versus the usual boring Silicon Valley cookie cutter buildings and houses).

Nice wine menu and good selection of ecletic options on the dinner menu with entrees ranging from $16-30.  They even had elk, which I have never tried but also wasn't in the mood to try.

Blackened grouper ($23) - tasty but would have preferred slightly more flavor

Pork chop ($21) - my co-worker really liked it

Oysters - my co-worker really liked them

House green salad ($6) - pretty standard, nice vinagrette

Side of risotto - rather bland

Bottom line: Food was decent but not super impressive (3.5 stars) + 0.5 stars for a very nice dinner setting = 4 stars. I'd be willing to come back and try some of their other dishes.

There's not much to complain about at Soho. My salmon was excellent, our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful, and the chocolate bread pudding for dessert was about the best I've ever had.

... but I'm not an expensive eater, and I would never opt to come here in a thousand years. I guess I'm too homespun. The price (entrees around $25) is the only reason I can't bring myself to award five stars.

This is in the Vinings Jubilee area - there's a slew of restaurants here and this is a smart one to pick if you find yourself standing in the midst of the center being indecsive.

Again, I've only been here on business lunches. It's a bit more airy than the Old Vinings Inn, and the menu is more eclectic.

They have dishes that run the gamut from kobe beef bolgonese to curry eggplant to the lump crab quesadilla. The diverse menu means that if you need to take out picky diners or aren't sure what type of food they'll like, this is a safe bet.

Not for the faint of palate. Soho has bold flavors on its modest 2 page food menu to be coupled with a 4 page wine list. The Vinings area is really cute and Soho fits in its little nook nicely.

I ate outside, which was perfect and actually avoided the wine list, but honed in on some Terrapin Rye Ale (Georgia). It was delicious and I highly recommend it.

I was out for a light meal and was delighted by the fresh mozerella and tomato salad and the crab & brie quesadilla.
