Decided to give this place another try. Went for wine with a friend on a Taco Tuesday, service was better, food came promptly. Â But yesterday was the best. Â I need to put in a special note for our waiter, Ray. Â It was a hot, busy weekend, street fair out front, and we had our dog with us. Â First, we were given a table on the shady side of the curb outside, and within 5 minutes, a bowl of water appeared for the dog. Â Ray was buzzing around his tables like a hyper-efficient bee. Â He took our drink order, the drinks were brought within 5 minutes. Â He checked back on us at least twice within 10 minutes for our food order. Â The food came after about 15 minutes, coffee was refilled, waters were refilled, and the food came out hot. Â The corned beef hash was great, my daughter loved her mac and cheese with pulled pork. Â
Often, a waiter can make or break an experience for you; Ray was fantastic. Â Attentive, prompt, and put up with the fact that I had to be on my phone for most of the time we were there. Â Thank you Ray! Â I'd come back just for you!
I work next door and I'm a fan!
Chill staff and an excellent selection of beer and wine. Came with my co-workers and we were particularly fond of the cheese plate (blueberry goat cheese-HELLO!) Delicious. The hummus was excellent as well, 3 kinds served with super soft pita bread. We also ordered a burger and salad and just split everything. I love eating tapa style and this is a great place for that. Yummmmmmmmyyy!
Happy to work close to another awesome establishment.
Cheers, Sophie's! Creme loves you.
I normally don't like to leave less than good reviews. Â I'd rather support a great restaurant than speak poorly of another, especially if I've only eaten there one time and, in comparison to other reviews, have had a less than stellar experience. Â But a day later, this one is still bothering me.
We stumbled upon Sophies on Memorial Day, late morning, after we discovered the original restaurant we had intended to go to was closed. Â We glanced at the menu, were intrigued, and we're immediately sat. Â Our server took our drink order and let us peruse the menu. Â I ordered the Bar-Ba-Coa Philly, with fries, and my boyfriend ordered the bacon scramble and a side of pancakes.
We waited, and waited, and waited. Â Our server, other than to bring us refills, never came by to ask us how we were doing, never came by to apologize for the delay, nothing. Â The tables behind us, who were seated after we had ordered, received their food. Â A table near us also got their food, and they had ordered right after we did. Â And still, no sight of our food. Â We waited 45 minutes, and, had I not been so hungry, I would have just left (and I've never felt compelled to do that, ever.) Â But we stuck it out.
Finally, after everyone else around us was served, our food came. Â My sandwich was warm, not hot, and the cheese had hardened on the top, as if it had been sitting under warmers and not actually fresh off the grill. Â My fries were cold. Â But the worst was the pancakes. Â They were cold and rubbery, and I assume, reheated. Â Yet still not even hot.
We still never got an apology for the delay from our server. Â A table near us, being served by our server, asked what the delay was, and he said the kitchen was backed up.
I would have been totally fine with getting our food after such a long wait if it was hot and fresh, and I'm sure that the Bar-Ba-Coa sandwich is quite delicious. Â But it seemed like our order had been made, forgotten about, and brought out after someone realized it was sitting there, and we never received an apology for the delay, or at the very least, an update as to why it was taking so long.
I love Sophie's place, they always have fantastic service and the food has never disappointed, in fact I am always blown away by my meal and leave satisfied and some what self loathing because I never order a salad, I order things like Pork Sandwich with Mac N Cheese or the 2am Burger.
Brunch is phenomenal, but just on the weekends.
Tap take overs make the beer selection change often.
Try and you will love!
Staff is fun, knowledgeable and attentive.
This is a super breakfast place. Happened upon it because the Crepe place was packed and I am not waiting 30 minutes for breakfast. Â Unpretentious place, we just came off a 4 mile walk on the beach in our work out attire. No funny looks so we settled in.
Quickly we were seated on the patio of the restaurant (not the sidewalk) . Server and coffee came right away. Ordered food and WOW it was so fast, could hardly believe it!
I had the California Benedict.  Sounded delicious, grilled shrimp (shrimp was boiled though not grilled) avocado, bacon & hollandaise sauce all nestled on an english muffin.. how could you go wrong.. Oh yeah.. they forgot to mention that on the bottom of the pile is a heaping serving of pico de gallo with raw onions and chopped tomato. My first bite, I detected a taste of onion.. thought.. how strange.. no onion or pico de gallo mentioned on the menu.. took another bite and bit into a raw onion. YUCK.. I HATE raw onions (spit it out in my napkin)  just about ruined it, but my honey to the rescue!  Servver looked at us funny when he came back to check on the food, so I told him my dilema and that we switched.. I think he was relieved.  My  honey  ordered the Chicken Pesto with goat cheese and sun dried tomato omelet and had just given me a bite of it and it was delicious, then he goes "I was thinking of ordering the Cal Benedict, so we just switched! No Harm, no foul, no sent back breakfast.. Everybody happy!  He gobbled up my benedict and I ate the ENTIRE omelet..  The potatoes were done just like I like them .. really crispy . I originally ordered decaff, but its not very good- a very light roast and I prefer the deep dark  smoky roasted coffee.. so I switched to the regular and was very happy.
Service here is fantastic.  Several servers passed by, always asking if we needed anything or just refilled our coffee. One server even came back to tell me he was brewing  a new pot.. then he actually showed up again with the fresh coffee.. Never wanted for anything, super fast service, courteous staff all around great experience. The reason for the 4 stars was the onion surprise that wasn't on the menu.  Parking was easy enough too and thank goodness we had some quarters.  We will come back again for dinner some time soon.
Good food and a great selection of beer! If you look at the menu, you can tell it's designed to make us guys happy. From the Chili Rubbed Steak to the MA[P] & Cheese which is a sandwich made with pulled pork and mac & cheese, you're not going home hungry. Not to say there's not food for the ladies but it's nice to have a gastropub that has a good selection for us picky guys. The only reason I can't give it a 5/5 rating is because it's a really noisy place. With brick walls and glass doors, the sound just echoes around forcing you to always feel like you're shouting. However, if you're a guy on a first date, this makes for a nice excuse to sit next to and cozy up to your date.
Review Source:I must admit, this was not my first pick as the restaurant I wanted to go to was booked for the DAY. Â Sooo... I treated my dear friend to a Mother's Day lunch at Sophie's instead. Â Sohpie's was more than a great alternate.
The staff was EXTREMELY cordial and accomodating. Â They had a bit of a high volume rush hour and our waiter certainly did an amazing job at keeping us content while waiting. Â They're bottomless mimosas are great and the food was very good.
Their take on breakfast burritos: Â you have the option to turn your omelet into a breakfast burrito. Â That's my kind of place! Â I'm a sucker for burritos, so I certainly did so. Â I had the pesto chicken, sundried tomato with goat cheese omelet/burrito. Â DELIGHTFUL!
This is a kid friendly establishment as I was able to order a sippy cup style soda for my friend's 2 yr old. Â It's all in the details. :)
excellent corner location in the riviera.
mama has been coming here for a while and finally decided to take me for their bottomless champagne brunch. every seat has a pretty good view of the street for people watching. they have an inside, patio and curbside seating. pretty cool.
i was pretty impressed at the prices of their brunch a la carte items. considering the location, very reasonable cost. i ordered the $11 cornbeef hash and mama had the $11 veggie omelet. both wonderful. my cornbeef had full chunks of cornbeef, not the canned stuff that you sometimes see at other places for the same price. i myself am a big fan of the canned stuff, but, i don't want to pay $11 for it. and the sunny side up egg on top was perfectly crispy on the ring and soft in the middle. the sausage was good too.
our server was kind enough to leave the bottle of champagne with us per our request. easier than trying to flag him down every time. overall, nice spot that we'll be back too.
Went there for Easter Brunch. Â They had endless mimosas and excellent food. Â The Cali Benedict was awesome! Â I highly recommend the chorizo burrito but definitely get it wet. Â I have to say next time I go back I'm going to have the pancakes! Â They smelled amazing! Â
Nicole was an awesome server as well!
This is a must GO TO when you have friends visiting redondo beach!
Although this place is really pricy, there food is amazing so totally worth it! Their Sophie Chips are great and my two favorite meals are the MA[P] and Cheese and the 2AM BURGER! SOOOOO MOUTHWATERING GOOD.
If you want go to healthy, I also have had the Cobb applewood bacon salad! BOMB. it is big!
Why did I minus one star?
- The service is really slow. I usually come during lunch when it is not as busy, so you would think its better service. NOPE. This happened maybe 6 times.. but i still go for the food...
- the last time I came, it was good service at night, so maybe go at night?
-ALSO, i heard their tacos on taco tuesdays are awesome.. I wish they would atleast offer these same tacos during the week. But they dont, there taco tuesday tacos are different than their taco trio.
My husband and I went out for my birthday and had a lovely time. Our waitress, Juliann was very sweet and did just fine. Â
We had the mac and cheese for an appetizer. It was as big as an entree and super good. He ordered his barbecue burger medium rare and it came back medium well which disappointed him but it was still very tasty. I had the lamb buger protein style and it was really good. Â The Carrot Cake came with a little birthday candle which is a nice touch. Â It was all right. Â
They were on top of keeping our tables cleaned up of dirty dishes.
I would easily go back .
Soooo happy we stumbled into this place!!! If you are a fan of the Tripel in Playa del Rey, Sophie's Place is similar but less crammed with a big bottle selection.
We only came here for drinks so I can't comment on the food, but our beers were great. The selection was fabulous and the bartenders seemed pretty knowledgable. The overall vibe of the place was upscale hipster, but the crowd was mixed.
I am already looking forward to coming back to this place for food as soon as possible!
My first experience at Sophie's Place was when my dad took me there for dinner for my birthday last July. As it happened, there was some confusion as I had already gone to dinner elsewhere, but we met him there anyway. The first thing I noticed was their extensive beer list. They have eight taps, each pouring a great craft beer. Their bottle list includes about 50 craft beers, with several of them being hard to find reserves. I knew we would have to return to try their food.
In the past eight months I have probably returned a dozen times; no one frequents a restaurant that frequently unless it is something special, and Sophie's Place is very special.
A true gastropub, I think Sophie's is hands down the best gastropub in Redondo Beach. To qualify, the establishment must sell craft beers and upscale food; Sophie's does this in spades. On top of that, the owners and staff have always been quite pleasant to us.
As far as my favorite dishes, I say their date salad is probably the best salad in the South Bay. Their hummus trio plate is a great appetizer, and if I am by myself, would be enough to hold me over. Their lamb burger was voted Best In the South Bay by the Easy Reader, I can not argue with that. As far as their desserts are concerned, I am a carrot cake snob; I travel the world always looking for the best carrot cake. Sophie's has the best within a 300 mile radius that I have found. Their Yeti beer Float is something special, you should try it.
I have read other reviews complaining about the service, and I will admit that there have been times that the wait was longer than I may have liked, but the place is small and sometimes it fills up. I can understand how the kitchen might get backed up a little, the wait has always been worth it.
I've been back to Sophie's Place three times since my initial breakfast review. Â Overall, I'm a fan, but I can't quite put my finger on why I don't LOVE it. Â The menu looks delicious, though, so I'm willing to keep coming back to try more!
1) Â My girlfriend and I wanted drinks and came here to grab one, totally not realizing that they only serve beer and wine. Â Good to note - no cocktails here!
2) Â I came here with two friends for a light dinner. I ordered "the beet" salad, which was tasty but definitely not filling. It's a perfect starter. My friends ordered the mac & cheese, which was delicious, and I ordered the "beer battered cauliflower" which was very tasty, but very fried, so I would strongly suggest sharing this between 4 people because it can be heavy and greasy.
3)  In my most recent experience, my fiancé and I sat on the completely enclosed patio.  We think that the server forgot about us out there, because the service was extremely slow taking our order and then serving our drinks. Thankfully, the food came in a timely manner, though. I was trying to eat healthy, so I got "The Veg burger" which was a spicy black bean patty, grilled Portobello mushroom, jack cheese, tomato, arugula, chipotle mayo and I got it "protein style" wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun.  The burger was pretty good, considering I took all the fun out of it! ;)
Overall, I think Sophie's place has good food and a nice ambiance for a casual dinner with friends or a casual date night. I'm determined to find something I LOVE here, and I'll let you know when I do!
Great place for brunch! Took some of my husbands relatives who were visiting from the East Coast and they loved it. They were very accommodating with their many dietary restrictions and were generally concerned and careful to get it right. The service was a bit slow, but our waiter's careful concern for their orders more than made up for it. We got a mixture of brunch and lunch food and everyone enjoyed their food. Great sized omelets and yummy looking burgers. The endless mimosa could use a bit more champagne, but besides that totally satisfied!
Review Source:I am a fan of Sophie's - sure it's a little overpriced, and the service is kind of slow some nights - but I love the atmosphere, the food, the beer and wine selection, and the music!
I really like the salmon with asparagus and potato gratin, the chicken skewers, and the hummus trio appetizer.
It's also just a fun place to hangout and drink. Great wine selection and they have a happy hour too!
Headline: overcharged my credit card $50 and served me a cold burger after waiting for 45 minutes.
I'll begin with the good. Â The place has a great beer selection and the ambiance is spot on. Â Gives off an elegant, bohemian-hipster vibe which is surprising for the RB village scene (if you're curious what I mean, please visit Mickey Finnz next door). Â Also, the patio is on an elevated platform and separate from the sidewalk, which is also a nice touch. Â
The food looked great. Â The ambiance, aroma and beer leave you hungry. Â Which is why waiting for 45 minutes for my food - when there were 4 other tables occupied (max) - was poignantly frustrating. Â The waiter forgot to bring out waters, took 30 minutes to bring out the salads for the group and offered to check on the burgers (thanks!). Â
... Another 15 minutes went by, and because the couple we were lunching with looked hungry, I finally asked about the burgers. Â He returned two minutes later with COLD burgers and fries. My guess is that they'd been sitting for some time. Â Asked for the burger medium, got it blood rare. Â
Really disappointed because I had been the night before for a couple beers and really wanted to try the food. Â Which brings me to my next point: I was charged an unauthorized $50 tip on my bill the night before. Â I bought two beers at $18.48, tipped with cash and found a transaction for exactly $50 more on my credit card statement. Â Spoke with the manager (Keon) who said he would call me back "ASAP." Â Waited a week for the "ASAP" call, and left messages ... nothing. Finally, Â I reported it to the credit card company. Â
I won't be returning unless its just for beers and cash only. Â The place really lacks a client-centered focus.
Good for post-dinner dinner--hummus is a'ight, but big portions bring the 'meh' factor to a 'Heh, it's pretty damn good'. Grilled cheese with tomato bisque pairs perfectly with the hour of night that your drunk qss needs food to sober up.
If you're not already a drink away from "tiiiiiiiiiiimberrrrr", I recommend the $18 (I think) pitcher of Sangria; so refreshing on a warm summer's night and perfect to share with another special plus one.
I always passed by this place in the Riviera Village, but never got around to trying it until today. Â Maybe Sophie's Place looked into Yelp reviews complaining about their slow service...today's service was impeccably fast and efficient!
We went in for Sunday brunch...endless mimosas or bloody marys anyone? Â We opted for some hot coffee, which came out in the largest mug, and two minutes later, out came out omelette and eggs benedict. Â The brunch menu is nice and simple, just the way I like it. They have a nice variety of omelettes, eggs benedicts, scrambles, and breakfast burritos to choose from, but no crazy eight page menu to flip through. Â All on one small menu.
My ham&cheese omelette was nothing crazy, but simple. Â It was so simple but strangely enough, just what I had wanted on a early morning meal. Â Their home fries was mashed potatoes with the skin still on it, mixed with onions, which is not something you can get anywhere. Â 3.5 stars.
Overall, I liked it because we were in and out of there in maybe 30 minutes. Â Way to go for improvements, Sophie's! Â Happy New Year :)
Placed a to-go order & it wasn't ready. Â In fact, I had to wait additional 20 minutes for the food. Â In addition, the order was wrong.
The manager (Keon) indicated he would discount a future meal to make amends for the poor service & order error.
The burger was good as well as the mac & cheese.
However, I'm hesitant to return to a place which is careless, unorganized & lacks effective leadership.
I really thought I was going to like this place. Â Outdoor seating and brunch are two of my favorite things so I was excited.
But..this is what happened at Sophie's Place. We parked, put an hours worth of quarters in the meter and walked in to let the hostess know we would be sitting on the patio area. Â We were given waters, menus, and then after about 10 minutes, our orders were taken.
I ordered an omelette, omitting the sour cream and my boyfriend ordered a burger without cheese (he's allergic to dairy). Â This is where everything just went completely wrong. Â We waited for 30 minutes and then a waiter came up to us to apologize since we had been waiting for awhile. Â Ok...we weren't too annoyed at this point since it was a nice day and we could, at least, enjoy the perfect weather. Â
......30 minutes later, my boyfriend had to go put more money in the meter. 1 hour had passed. Â I kind of don't know why we even stayed this long but it was probably from being so hungry so I thought lets just wait a LITTLE longer since driving somewhere else for brunch would probably take the same amount of time. Nope. Other customers came and went, and a few groups that sat 30-45 minutes after us were already served their food. Â
...15 minutes later our food was brought out and my boyfriend had cheese on his burger, to which the waiter said "we could just take the cheese off of it"...this was obviously not acceptable since a dairy allergic can't eat a patty with cheese remnants on it. This was our cue to leave.
SO an hour and 15 minutes later, we finally left still starved and super annoyed. Â The wait staff was nice about everything but there were too many mistakes made and a lot of time lost. Â Honestly, the food looked good from what I saw other people ordering, but I'll never know because I won't go back for fear of wasting more precious weekend hours.
Sophie's Place is usually my first choice for brunch when friends come over for three reasons:
- Located in the Riviera Village (and within walking distance for me)
- Good ol' American food
- Endless mimosas for $12
I've tried the following (all in one sitting....daaaayum! ...just kidding!):
- Corned beef hash, two eggs, home fries and english muffin
- The ham eggs benedict
- Chicken taco trio
They weren't spectacularly mind-blowing but just good. Â Not horrible and that is why I've gone 3-5 times already. Â My meals were always satisfying. Â Service is a tad slow. Â I've experienced that twice but luckily, I was engrossed in conversations with my girlfriends to care too much about it. Â Also, the mimosas may have helped the time pass by faster :)
The service is really hit or miss here. Â I've had a male server (forgot his name) twice who was very attentive, apologized for the food not coming out right away but continued to check in on us to let us know that we weren't forgotten. Â A server on another occasion gave us minimal attention. Â
Overall, I give the service and food 3 stars. Â
Tip: Walk off your meal by visiting the local retail shops (support small businesses!) in the Riviera Village and/or walk to the beach which is about 2 blocks away.
PARKING: Bring lots of quarters for the parking meters on Catalina Avenue. Â If you don't mind a little walking, free street parking on Catalina is available from around Avenue I (north of the Riviera Village). Â Hope this helps!
I must say Sophie's Place is a true 'foodie' and beer/wine type of place. I love me some gastropubs and Sophie made my list.
Amazing selection of Beers, actually too many if you ask me since you never know which one to drink LO Thankfully they offer flights of beer for people just like me that likes to try new beers.
Food is excellent, portions are huge, I highly recommend to share.
I love love love their Salads and you may add Salmon, Chicken or Shrimp to any of the Salads. Lots of Healthy as well as fried and yummy selection to accomidate every taste buds.
I highly recommend this little gem in Redondo beach, it is very small and cozy so you might have to wait around for a table specially on weekends
Definitely not loving this place.
After a happy day of shopping the sidewalk sale, we hopped into Sophie's Place at about 2:30 p.m. for a couple of burgers. Â The place was busy but a server indicated that we could choose any open table.
We parked ourselves inside near an open window and waited...and waited...and waited. Â Right at the point when we were about to give up and leave, a waiter appeared with water and menus. Â We were pretty hungry so we immediately ordered (burgers and fries).
And we waited....and waited....and waited. Â The waiter cruised by to say that the kitchen was backed up but that our order would be ready shortly. Â And we waited and waited some more. We went from the point of being hungry to being cranky and hungry. Â We saw people being served who had arrived much later than we had. Â
Twenty minutes after we ordered, our food arrived. Â Cold. Â Fries cold. Â Burger lukewarm. Â The waiter offered to re-do our orders but we'd already waited 40 minutes and didn't want to chance it taking another 40 minutes.
To his credit, the waiter comped us one of the meals. Â (Yes, we still left a good tip.)
Don't recommend.
I didn't even know there was a gastropub like this in Redondo, so I was pretty excited to try it out.
The place is small inside, but it has a nice outdoor patio with heating lamps. We sat inside, and it was definitely noisy. Our server was nice and helpful. We wanted to try their cheesy tots, but they ran out, so we went with the trio of hummus. The pita bread was warm and super toasty, and the wasabi hummus was surprisingly tasty. The black olive one was delicious too, but the 3rd one had a really funky taste. I'm not sure what it was, but it wasn't good.
I went with the T&C for my meal- the grilled cheese was nothing special or memorable, and it was small with an even smaller shot of tomato bisque solely for dipping. If you make the tomato bisque, why don't you just serve a cup of it with the sandwich?? The sandwich was on plain white bread. Pretty boring. I make a better grilled cheese at home.
My sister seemed to enjoy her veggie burger, and my stepmom liked the chili-rubbed steak. My dad liked his kabobs too.
Other than the food I ordered, no other items on their menu really caught my eye, so I'm not sure that I'd be back here again. The food wasn't memorable, but it wasn't bad either.
This review is for their Brunch.
WOW... is all I can say. Eggs, bacon, and potatoes taste the same everywhere but Sophie's does it right. The best breakfast Ive had in awhile! Not to mention their mimosas are great ....and unlimited(as most brunch places are)!! This place has my recommendation.
LOVE SOPHIE PLACE!
I just moved to the area and live right around the corner so I walk up every Sunday  for brunch and have the same exceptional service by Josh. The brunch is SO delicious, the stuffed french toast and sausage is DELICIOUS and wayyy better than YellowVase across the street. I've also got the , Map &Cheese Sandwich (YUM!!), The applewood cobb salad is my fav, i get that th most, and ive had the barbeue burger. Very..veryy yummy. I go back all the time and bring friends, and visitors where they are from out of town, just so i can impress them. LOVE it here!
Sophie's Place is a true 'foodie' and beer connoisseurs dream lining the streets of the fabulously hip Redondo Beach Catalina Street boardwalk. Â
The restaurant and decor is clean and has a fun classy feel to it, so you know you are in for a good time the minute you walk through the door.
The beer selection is phenomenal! Â You can tell that they really spend time seeking out a wide variety of selections that are hard to come by, Â just for your drinking enjoyment. Â We tried the Summer Solstice, a really delicious IPA and Yetti - a dark and rich espresso chocolaty beer that I wanted to dive right into! Â They even have a beer 'flight' for real beer drinkers! Â Five cheers for the beer focus alone!
We wanted to order all of the appetizers, but limited ourselves to make room for the main course. We ordered the 'Hummus Trio' - a generous serving of three uniquely flavored hummus: black bean, garbanzo and edamame. The heated pita bread was sweet and had a great fluffy consistency. The Hot Wings were freaking AMAZING. They had a sweet and spicy honey glaze that was seasoned just right, so much meat and the perfect balance of flavor!
Dinner was divine!  I had the 'Burg', a thick perfectly cooked high grade patty with caramelized onions, fresh sautéed mushrooms, a flavorful aioli and jack cheese!  The layers of flavors were really to be admired.
The portions are huge and all of our food came hot and fresh off the grill - a lot of care was placed in every plate. Â The service was great, very welcoming and attentive.
We will be back and intend on making this a regular favorite hot-spot! Â
Cheers Sophie's Place! Â Well Done!
Ducked in here with a friend during the Riviera Festival this past weekend, the spot on the corner looked charming, the layout proved to be comfortable to take in the crowds rolling by and a soccer game on the bar tv.
I was taken by the breakfast menu so I ordered the Country which was egg, biscuits and gravy, and a choice of sausage or bacon. Â Sausage was the right choice as bacon bits are sprinkled on the biscuits!
My friend ordered a vegi scramble, a little hiccup as she had to send it back, it came out not cooked with egg whites only. Â It seemed like the manager had brought us our plates, he was gracious in taking my friends plate back and came back with an offer of a house green salad to have in the meantime (which was comped).
I had a glass of chardonnay to start then asked if they had Blue Moon, they didn't have it but the manager recommended an equal substitute, a  Belgium wheat.  Later, I happen to look the place over more and didn't know how I missed the huge beer and wine list behind the bar, duh!  And what a list!  I felt as though I insulted the manager by asking for a Blue Moon, lol!
I would have liked a bit more gravy for the biscuits, $8 for the beverages seemed a bit high... Â I'll round up though to 4 stars for the friendly service.
My girlfriend and I decided to come here after checking Yelp for places in Redondo Beach with a patio (it was a really nice day out, and we wanted to enjoy the sun). The Yelp entry said that this place was a Gastropub, but most of the reviews made it sound like there was a Mediterranean flair, so we thought it sounded perfect.
We were seated on the patio but sat there for 10-15 minutes before anyone came to give us menus or offer us beverages, and they only did so after noticing my friend coming into the restaurant to use the restroom. Strike #1. A waiter finally came out and took our drink order (a Mimosa for her, an iced tea for me), and he scoffed at my less-than-alcoholic choice of beverage. Then, I had to get up and approach him at the bar (where he was chatting with co-workers) to ask him for sweetener. Strike #2. Our food was mediocre, and it was certainly not Mediterranean. We sat there with empty beverages glasses for quite a long time before anyone bothered to notice us. I'm not sure if it was the time of day, or the waiters thought they had better things to do (i.e. chatting), but I was not impressed at all with the service. Strike #3.
I can see the appeal of this place if you're looking for some shallow Ladies Night Out or something (the posters in the bathroom indicated they had Ladies Night Out specials), but otherwise, it's a real let down.
