We cheerfully came back here and had a delightful time. The place was packed (February is "in season"). The ambiance was such that we could have been in NYC, with the white tablecloths, packed house with people waiting, excellent service and fine decor.

We had the Parmesan Encrusted Tilapia with (the ubiquitous) garlic mashed potatoes, the Asian Calamari and the Manhattan Clam Chowder. Everything was superb.

This is definitely one of (or perhaps THE) best places in Fort Myers Beach.

TL;DR - I don't think I'll be coming back, but that said, I had a really good time and a nice meal.  It's just not what I expected from the other Yelp reviews.

The food was pretty good.  For the price, there are two categories.  Really nice, upscale food, and there's upscale, very nice chain food.  They're both really good categories, but South Beach is more the latter.

We had the calamari, which surprised me as being a sweet-and-sour sauce type of dish.  The calamari was well cooked, but I wasn't a fan of the sauce.  It was the opposite of subtle, which turned out to be kind of the theme for the night.  

Caesar salad was dry but fine.

Entrees: Mine (the pork tenderloin) was really good, I really enjoyed it!  Only complaint for me was the beans were dry, and I heard that from the others at my table.  I was told the sirloin was good, but not outstanding.  The beef tips were perfectly fine, except there was gristle in it.  

The special (wahoo with scallops) was enjoyed, it was a nice cut of fish, but dry.l  Nicely crusted, and the scallops were nice.

Ambiance was nice and our waiter was also really nice.

I think it's worth a visit, but from the price and the other reviews, I expected more.

Great food, great atmosphere. If you go before 6pm they have two-for-one dinner specials on certain items, and the food is top-notch.
