Incredible beer selection, the overwhelming majority of which are on tap. This is the place to go for obscure and rare beer for the unique brew lover. I had the double bock, which packed a good punch with a complex flavor. Everyone at our table had something different and all walked away satisfied.

Most of us did the calzone option, which worked out well for each of us. It fed us well. I stuck with a basic pepperoni, black olive, sausage mix which was very good. Great choice for lunch.

Only issue was the mediocre service. Not necessarily negative but wasn't particularly helpful with recommending beers and was pretty inattentive throughout our time.

Would definitely come back next time I'm in town.

My friend and I have been indulging our new found love of craft beer by going to every place we can find that serves it.  Hence, we ended up at South Park Tavern.

The craft beer selection was really good.  The best part of that is that it's less pretentious than Lucky's in the Oregon District.  We also got a pizza and I thought it was pretty good; my friend didn't care for the spiciness of the sausage.  Since everything is baked there, I was afraid to eat anything else.....I mean, baked french fries just aren't the same.

The only downside was it was the first day of the NCAA basketball tournament, and there were several very loud, half drunk business types screaming at each other more than the tv.  It's a small place, and I guess during tournament time, you just don't know what you'll run into.  But since they were obviously skipping work and I'm done early, I don't anticipate running into that problem again.

The pizza was great but my waitress was the absolute worst. She  was extremely unattractive and unfriendly. I asked her for a coke and she came back with lemonade. When I asked her for a coke the second time she rolled her eyes at me and told me "argo fuck yourself" ??

This was a disappointing experience given the positive reviews about this place. I tried the wings and the small deluxe pizza on a quiet Tuesday night.

The wings were soft and mushy. The idea folks is to get the skin crisp. That's why most places fry wings. If you prefer to bake them, that's ok, but bake them hard and long enough to get some crispiness going.

My small deluxe pizza looked like something that came from Kroger's frozen section. Blant, half-baked, and with paper thin slices of pepperoni. Again, the idea about pizza is to have some crunchy-ness in it. If the crust is softer than the center of the pizza, either your oven is broken or your notion of pizza is distorted.

The saving grace for this place was the decent draught selection and the friendly waitress -- hence the two stars.

Neither the wings nor the pizza were borderline remarkable, unless you compare them with boiled wings and microwave pizzas respectively.

My wife and I went the other day with some friends.  Great beer.  Ok pizza.  Great wings!  They are baked, So they take longer to cook (we waited about 40 minutes), but they were delicious!  My only complaint would be that they didn't make their own ranch dressing.  If you're going to boast homemade wing sauces, don't cut corners with cheap condiments.

This place is outstanding! You'll find me here frequently on Monday nights for half price pizza and a few pints. The pizza is simply delicious, my favorite in the Dayton area. The beer selection is top notch too. I know I'm in the right place when the beer is listed on a chalk board. They always have something new and unique on tap. It does get crowded, especially on Monday nights, and the service can be slow. But I've never had a bad experience here.

I can't say enough good about this place. Awesome beer selection including a rotating section on tap (try the Mojo!).  They don't serve liquor, only beer and wine, but I think that is a good thing.  It's a family friendly environment and they serve Pizza Factory pizza! As well as sandwiches, fries, etc.  They have live music some nights, but I don't think they audition bands (some of them are just down-right awful). Word of advice: if you want to converse with your mates while you drink and eat, go on a night with no bands playing, or before the music starts, or sit on the patio. It gets pretty loud.

SPT has on one of the sweetest patios in the downtown area.  It's visually appealing as well as spacious.  Plus there is a fire pit for colder nights.

The staff are friendly and VERY knowledgeable about the beers.  There is a large chalkboard announcing all of the beers on tap that day and includes the alcohol % for each beer.  My only complaint is that if you sit at one of the high-tops near the bar you may find yourself needing to flag down a server.  A very minor thing considering that they are usually busy and may not notice everyone who sneaks in.

SPT is a great place to take the kids, meet a buddy, and/or stuff your face with a pizza.  It's not a "party bar", but the libations and live music make it a fun place.

I feel like I'm the only person in Dayton that doesn't love this place. Maybe going at lunch on a weekday was the wrong time. I had a rather creative sandwich called the Mojo Cuban which I thought decent at best, but not nearly as good as the ingredients in the menu sounded. Judging them on this might be a little unfair since I'm not a sandwich man to begin with, but I generally like anything made south of Florida. I also tried a couple slices of their pizza. It wasn't bad but it really wasn't anything you couldn't get at a takeout pizza place. One thing I will give this place is they had a good selection of craft beers. The atmosphere also seemed pretty good. I'm sure on a Friday or Saturday it makes a good hangout. However, solely on the basis of their food I would recommend it only as a place you should go to if you get the chance, but don't bend over backwards to try.

Amazing pizza and a large selection of draft beers. Friendly staff and a nice patio. What more could you ask for?

One of the best spots in Dayton, you can get a tasty slice of pizza and enjoy local music. The atmosphere is solid and the staff is wonderful.

    Can't suggest it enough!

I love this place.  Whether it's their half-price pizza (all of it delicious) on Mondays or the amazing ever-changing beer selection, there's always a reason to go.

The one thing to keep in mind is that it's not a *huge* place, so it gets a bit crowded when it's busy.  This doesn't really affect speed of service, but does affect how quickly you can find a seat.  This is mitigated some when it's nice enough outside for people to use the patio area comfortably.

Recommendation: Get a side of pesto to dip your crusts in.

I ended up here on New years a couple years ago and it was way more fun than I thought it would be! This is a small hipster-ish bar that is really nice for hanging out with friends and not feeling rushed. There is food here, but it's mostly pizza (pizza factory pizza!). I would say the main draw is definately the beer selection (they have a lot!). Weekends here are fun there is uaually live music and as one reviewer already pointed out it gets LOUD!

Love this place. Delicious, creative pizzas on whole wheat crusts, impressive array of microbrews on tap, live music on the weekends. Recommended OVER Dewey's.

Impressive beer selection, nice buzzing atmosphere and an emphasis on live music (and they play it LOUD in a small space).  I thought the food was hot and good--but the real draw here is the micro brew beer selection on tap.

I wish this bar was in my neighborhood, I would definitely be a regular.

Had half and half, Mediterranean and Cajun Chicken with the Harbor Oktoberfest beer. Pizza was excellent, great flavor on the Mediterranean with the artichokes and feta. The crust was airy and tasty. Sat out on the patio on a rare fall day!

I liked the place. I loved my server (should have got her number) to death. Pizza was great. In fact, I went there I was like "I'm not that hungry" but ended up wolfing the whole thing down so fast that even the server commented. Ha, go me.

Would like to come back when they have a live band.

When you enter SPT for the first time you are greeted by a large beer cooler behind the bar that reads "BEER IS FOOD" in large block letters. At SPT this is more than a trite nod to the beer snob clientele; it's truly the motto of this craft beer oasis. SPT is one of the finest beer bars & pizza joints around. The beer selection is unrivaled by anything within an hours' drive, including other great local pubs like Trolley Stop, Chappy's, etc. Those places have decent beer selections, but pale in comparison to what SPT offers. The sheer amount of taps and the extremely frequent rotation makes SPT a craft beer lovers' paradise.

Here's a quick hitlist of what SPT has to offer:

    ALCOHOL:
    - Beer: Extremeley wide selection of craft beer on tap
    - Most beer leans to the extreme side of the spectrum: IPAs are probably the most prominent style (many of which are imperial), but there's always a good variety, including stellar stouts, a sour or lambic of some variety, a couple-few Belgians, and a smattering of other styles (misc ales, ciders, etc). No crap on tap to speak of. Most beers are very strong ABV-wise as well. Few beers at SPT are less than 6% ABV. Many approach or exceed 10%. Plan accordingly.
    - A great bottle selection if you're looking for something besides the latest draft offering
    - Wine: A few generic white & reds for the wives or the beer-averse, but nothing noteworthy at all. This is a beer bar.
    - Liquor: None whatsoever, to my knowledge. They don't do cocktails, shots, etc

    FOOD:
    - Pizza: Jaw-dropping. SPT features a large number (a dozen or so) of specialty pizza styles, from Greek Gyro to Reuben pizza (with sauerkraut, corned beef, etc), and everything in between. If you're a traditionalist and prefer plain-ol' pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, etc, they have you covered. It's all amazing. I've been to SPT with dozens of different people and every time the response to the pizza has been fantastic
    - Sandwiches: Lots of options. Huge portions of meat and toppings and delicious spices & flavor. These aren't generic deli sandwiches by any means!
    - Wings: Dear Lord, SPT has some fine wings. The Shaine's Original are indescribably delicious. I mean it, I simply can't accurately convey how good these wings are. My mouth is watering like mad just typing this. The rest of the wings are fine as well, but if you're a wing fan, don't go to SPT without trying some Shaine's Original. Don't forget the ranch (or bleu cheese, if that's your style)
    - Salads: An unexpected gem - SPT's salads actually have great quality lettuce with some greens, good toppings and tremendous dressings

    PRICES:
    - Overall the prices at SPT are very reasonable. I always leaved stuffed and "happy" (!!) and don't feel like I broke the bank
    - Beer: Fantastic prices, the best beer deal in town. All beers are served in tall pint glasses by default, unless it's a specialty beer (noted on the menu with a (T) for Tulip glass). All beers are $5, period, except when they're $4 for happy hour. Some of these beers are very premium craft brews that cost far more from a bottle shop, but you can get a huge serving for $5, and taste it in it's pure, delicious draft form
    - Food: Pizza is of average price. Half price pizza on Monday which is an EXCELLENT deal. Wings, sandwiches, etc are all in line with standard pub prices

    SERVICE:
    - The waitresses are always very friendly. They know the beer selections well, which is saying something givent the frequency of rotation, but you may have to ask for a beer menu if you don't want to walk to the chalkboard.
    - Service can be slow simply because the restaurant is becoming so popular. It's usually a full house at SPT and there are typically 3-4 waitresses plus a bartender to keep up. Expect to wait 40 minutes or so for your food - but everything is made to order and is super fresh and piping hot. The beer service is quick, however, so you won't be waiting, frustrated, for 20 minutes for your drink to arrive

    ATMOSPHERE:
    - Sports bar-like but with a cooler vibe to it
    - Size: Pretty small. Inside there are 8-10 tables, plus an average-sized bar. The patio features much more seating but is smoker friendly (indoors is no smoking per state law). If you come at prime time - weekends in late evening - expect to have to stand and drink until a spot opens up. During the week there's typically no problem finding a seat, but it does get crowded
    - Live music: Great local & regional bands on the weekends
    - The crowd is very mixed and there's always a positive vibe at SPT. The cheap, strong beer and delicious food have something to do with it, but SPT has a soul that a lot of places just lack

Keep an eye on their excellent website for a concert calendar, as well as the current beer rotation. The site is updated regularly so know what's on tap or coming up at SPT.

In conclusion, if you couldn't tell, I'm in love with SPT. It's truly a gem in Dayton for lovers of craft beer, and for anyone who enjoys good food and a good time.

Horribly slow neglectful service on a slow day!  Really, the place was generally empty and the waitress would disappear for half an hour.  Waiting to order, waiting to have my beer refilled, waiting to get the check.  Waiting for the check and payment to be picked up... nearly two hours for a pizza and two beers!!! Ordered "gourmet" pizza, crab and shrimp.  First there's NO CRAB and they should know that over-cooked pollock (cheap fish imitation of crab) turns to tasteless mush.  Of course they overcompensate by slathering the whole mess in imitation "garlique butter."  Nice atmosphere, great beer selection but that food was disgusting.  Probably suits the neighborhood locals until they try Tanks.  Then, there's no foody reason to go back to the SPT.  Shame, I really wanted to like it...

Hands down my new favorite local spot. The food, beer, and service are great. The only knock against it is it's size but that's part of what makes it a good place to go also.

Great pizza and amazing beer selection.  What more can one ask for?  We had the "Factory Special" and a plain cheese and both were out of this world.  The pizza is the same as that from carryout/delivery joint Dayton's Original Pizza Factory down the street, which has been a favorite in the Dayton area for close to a decade.  With high-quality ingredients and one of the best doughs I've ever had, I recommend highly  to anyone that can make it in.

Oh, the pizza's are so, so great. We had the NY cheese (perfection on just the right crust) and the Cheeseburger pizza (pickles and mustard on pizza - I think so).
Cool decorations, really low-key relaxed atmosphere and an awesome beer selection. We went on a Saturday night, and there were two really (truly) talented musical acts that night. Then the third band started. Two guys, two guitars, how bad could it be? Well, to be honest, I don't know how bad it was, because it was so ungodly loud that you couldn't make out anything except the sound of your head preparing to explode. So we left.
We'll go back, but probably before the music starts and we'll pay for drinks as we go, so we can leave if necessary. Who wants to kill brain cells on uber loud music when there are other, much more enjoyable ways to do it?

OK, this just might be my favorite place to eat in the Dayton area.  My absolutely favoritest pizza on Earth, a great rotation selection of taps, sports on the TVs (but they don't dominate the place), and they usually have some cool Blues station playing. I still haven't stayed long enough to watch a band there, but they have live music all the time.  The atmosphere is a very cozy, comfortable homey vibe, and it is warmly lit.  The pizza is THE STAR here though.  The thin crust is just incredible, and they also give you a whole wheat option.  The Factory Special...HOLY CRAP!  I LOVE THE FACTORY SPECIAL SO MUCH!  My son gets the Meat Lovers and he destroys it, so I'm thinking that is good too.  I usually get the 12' and a couple of the drafts, and that it usually perfect.  Not too stuffed, just right.  Do not expect fast service here.  Let me repeat that...DO NOT EXPECT FAST SERVICE HERE.  The pizzas are made fresh, and are works of art.  You want fast?  Go to Domino's, peasant.

First impression was that this place is really small but very clean and bright (for a tavern that is!). I've been anxious to try this place out since it's been getting rave reviews on Yelp and I'm glad I did! The beer selection was first rate, even rivals Chappy's Tap room, wide selection of craft beers on tap there's something for everyone here! The pizza was fantastic! crunchy, loaded with yummy toppings, and served fast and hot! We decided that this was our new favorite pizza place in Dayton, Sorry Deweys but gotta go with the locally owned on this one! I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because the service was average, not bad but not stellar, she seemed a little bored. We'll be back for sure! Oh, and they have great outdoor bistro style seating for the warmer months.

There's a great beer selection of a dozen+ microbrews on draft as mentioned. Oberon 16oz was $5.25 each and the bartender was fine.

The recently renovated patio is very cozy. There's wicker metal seating and tables, a high wooden fence, and a few plants. On the patio, the live music provided a great background as friends and I talked.

There's also a tabletop hockey game inside here (it has the miniature hockey players controlled by a player's push and pull on metal rods). I entertained myself at grandma's house on one of these as a child. If there were one of these in Cleveland, I'd spend some time and money on it, especially while having a beer with friends.

The crowd was mostly punks and hipsters during my only visit. but that may have just been the band playing that night. The place was very well maintained [e.g. no sticky floors].
No frat boys or college kids getting drunk here. Next time I stop by, I'll have to try their pizza.

This is a great place, good pizza, great beer selection, both on tap andin the bottle. The service was promt and kind.  All of the appetizers are baked, not fried, so you don't feel like a fatty after eating there.  Will definitely go back.

If you're looking for a chill place with great beer and good food, this is it.

South Park has the best draft beer selection around, bar none.  Typically the 18 taps are flowing with "craft" beers, with "the usuals" being restricted to bottles or cans.

If you're not familiar with the Pizza Factory, then prepare to be amazed.  The Pizza Factory has THE BEST pizza in town, and this bar serves it.

The only downside is that there is a cover on Saturday nights when they have live music.  For those of us just wanting a brew, it's a nuisance, but not enough to keep me away.

Due to it's popularity, the small parking lot can fill up quickly, but the side street has plenty of space.  I have also seen them push people out to the patio for lighting up inside, which is a huge plus.
