I stopped in here before dinner on a recent visit to the Oregon District. Â It was a beautiful evening, and we sat upstairs on the balcony overlooking the street scene.
I always try to remember to ask what's in the well when ordering a VT or GT. Â In this case, I didn't and got burned by the rotgut brand. Â Doh. Â I should know better.
The other patrons hanging upstairs were having a good time with the bubblemakers. Â We kept seeing them on our other stops through the evening. Â The people, not the bubblemakers. Â A friendly lot.
Overall, not a bad little dive.
I dropped by here for a live show and I enjoyed it. Â I'd heard it was a biker bar but the hipsters and scenemakers are at least running neck and neck with the bikers, who seemed like a pretty tame lot. Â The balcony is cool but doesn't provide much of a sight line to the stage from most of it. Nor can you see the band very well from one of the downstairs rooms, so bottom line is there's a limited amount of areas you can hang out in if you want to watch the music show. Â Also, the place can get crowded especially on the weekends, and VERY loud when the bands crank up - I think this is due to the shape of the rooms being kinda narrow. Â Sound isn't as good as you get at Canal Street. Â Nevertheless, still had a good ol' time.
