We get this on most Tuesdays because of their Tuesday special of buy 1 10-piece and get the 2nd half off. I usually get to go 40 wings, macaroni salad, and maybe some fries. The wings have always been consistent, crunchy outside, not dry inside, and seasoned just right. Their homemade honey mustard w/ a little bit of kick is a must for the wings. I've had their ribs before (smothered with the same sauce) and it's okay. The fries are not that good, they're not salty and not crunchy at all. The macaroni salad is pretty good, they're flavored right and definitely not blah-tasting like what you usually find at supermarkets.
I've also had the fried oysters and clams before, the mac & cheese, beans, cole slaw, and the cornbread and they're all just okay, nothing special.
The wings and the sauce are definitely what you need to try at this place. I have to warn you, though, that some of the wings will have some hairs on it still. I've heard people order them well done a few time before when I pick up my order.
There's a couple bar tables and ledge for eating but almost everybody takes-out.
The price has gone up noticeably, so if you haven't ordered in a while, your next order maybe a few dollars more.
Spicy's has the finest fish and chips on the island. That's the best item on their menu.
The store is located just off Montauk Highway in North Bellport, which is pronounced  "No Bell Po" in the local vernacular. Decades ago, the restaurant was once a McDonald's. Now it's pretty beat up but while quite stark inside, the kitchen is clean and the people are really nice. You might want to go as part of a group and a carry permit might prove handy.
One of the coolest experiences is taking a chance on an out of the way "hole in the wall" place and finding something wonderful. Â The risk in this of course is sometime you find out the "hole in the wall" literally has holes in the wall, and floor, and maybe the ceiling as well.
While there are no physical holes at Spicy's, you may feel empty after the dining experience. Â The good, the wings themselves are OK. Â Really nothing special and a bit of a hot mess to handle. Â The ribs are Carolina mustard sauced. Â Not my, or my family's style. Â
While the building itself seems structurally sound, it is the dictionary definition of divey. Â There is a small eat in counter on one side and the floor is covered with outdated tile that seriously need replacement. Â The steam table is small and has a dated look to it. Â In short nothing within your eyesight inspires confidence in the food you are about to be handed. Â
So if you have a hankerin' for some mustard based BBQ, and aesthetics aren't important to you, head on over. Â This place may be right up your alley. Â However if your looking for Texas or St. Louis style eats you will want to take a pass here. Â If you do decide to give it a try and get a little nervous when you see the outside, follow your instincts. Â The inside is more of the same and it's too small to do a walk-out without being noticed (awkward)
Have gone for 10 years BUT now wings are small and tasteless. Â Have ordered bucket and individual servings and they are anorexic and disgusting. Â I confronted staff and they responded , "Yes our chicken sometimes are small". Â Called a second time and they were uncaring. Â Don't spend the money or waste the calories on POOR fried sickly chicken wing.
Review Source:I've been going to spicys for a very long time. Everything on the menu is fantastic, deep fried goodness. The wings are among the best you'll come across along with the famous dipping sauce you can't go without. All other meals here are great but if you want something that definitely won't disappoint get a 10 pc wings and some fries. Oh and cars have been known to crash right through this building, so be on guard
Review Source:Overall, this place is pretty poor.
First of all if you are expecting "BBQ" you are not at the right place. Â You should be expecting something "Fried"
I ordered a BBQ chicken and BBQ wings and both were deep fried with breading. Â It was nasty. Â Their sauce is "mustard based" which is fine but not what northerners expect for a BBQ sauce, maybe in South Carolina. Â Â The wings had hair all over them which tells me they are very cheap quality.
Also if you are looking for "spicy" barbecue, this isn't it either.
You should also expect several patrons with stained wife beaters while you wait for your food. Â
The only reason this place doesn't get a one star is the staff behind the counter was very courteous and quick to make the order, which I ultimately wish I didn't.
Ok, first off this is not real BBQ, but I am fine with that because it is just in their name. They do not verbally claim to make BBQ which is always done with wood and smoke. They do however make great comfort food. The closest they have to BBQ is their ribs, which even though they are not BBQ to me they are awesome. Tender, juicy , full of flavor, sweet, spicy, sticky, and with that awesome sauce on the side to dip the pieces of meat in, I get the chills just thinking about it. As for the chicken, I always get the wings, pretty plain but crispy and again that beautiful sauce to dip them in. Their collard greens are the best I have ever had, alot of little pieces of meat in them and full of flavor. I see the other reviews and it seems to be a love them or hate them thing. If you hate them then dont go back, there are plenty that love them. The staff is not rude. They deal with a tough crowd in that part of town and i'm sure that can get a bit stressful. Spicy's is one of those places that I will crave and drive for hours if I have to just to get some. Love this place.
Review Source:This is my first time at this establishment. The counter help was abrupt and rude. After I ordered my three seafood meals and wings I asked about the fries and cole slaw (the menu states: "Seafood Dinners - all seafood dinners served with cole slaw French fries and homemade tartar sauce") I was told I have to pay extra because I didn't tell her I wanted meals. Upon looking at the menu it only said meals for what I ordered.
My order consisted of Bay Scallops, Tender Sweet Fried Clams, Fried Oysters, Chicken Wings With Spicy Sauce and Sweet Corn Nuggets.
After getting my order home the fried oysters where MIA. I drove back with receipt in hand and was told the oysters were in with the fried scallops (wasn't it a separate dinner?) A phone call from home tipped me off that all FOUR of those greasy oysters were hidden in with the scallops. The portion so small would stand out in its own container. Either way we complained and received another order of scallops on Spicy's. A bit of redemption on the part of Spicy's.
The fried clams were tasty and not greasy. The fried scallops were good but greasy. The oysters were greasy and not so fresh. I had the best meal of the ten piece chicken wings (crispy and tasty) and the sweet corn nuggets. The corn nuggets were fried golden, had whole kernels surrounded by creamy corn goodness.
After all that, yes I would go back for the wings and corn nuggets.
Never again!! I have been going to spicy's for years but tonight i went in after calling for over half an hour and the phone was off the hook, got there at 8:00 on a friday night asked for a sandwhich got a nasty attitude from the lady with no teeth"nah we aint got nothin, go to mcdonalds, we want to go home" Â Really?? a simple sorry we are closed would have been fine. Â They just lost a customer for life
Review Source:Spicy's is real fried chicken. Â
Real as in: these birds were squawking maybe this morning. The ultra-squeamish out there may be turned off by the sometimes-less-than-microscopically-plucked & dressed wings & legs; sorry but that's what happens when your food doesn't come from frozen from a factory..
The yellow Spicy's sauce (über sweet) keeps making me come back, and if you're lucky enough to see a jar to-go, get it.  The corn nuggets are also really unhealthily-delicious, and worth the $5 or so for em. I just wish I got more than 6... (But you KNOW I'll pay anyway, don't you Spicys?)
Not many tables or comfortable chairs here, so I have always just ordered to go, but there is a TV usually playing NASCAR. Â Note: it's Spicy's FRIED food, not FAST food. Unless you call ahead, you might have a wait. Â While for some it may be a long way to go for take-out, it's pretty conveniently located near Montauk highway and not too far from Sunrise either.
Spicy's was alright. Â I came here for dinner when I was on travel. Â Being tired of pizza, I wanted something different.
I got the ribs togo. Â Some of them were really tough while others were tender. Â They were spare ribs, which I prefer the baby backs or st. louis style. Â To me, they were just blah....not good, but not horrible either. Â
Maybe there's another/better bbq place elsewhere, but in the area, I would probably just stick with Italian.
Fried chicken wings!
I have never actually gone into Spicy's & ordered anything but my neighbor brought their wings to a party I had. Â Living in Bellport & driving by this place on my way to Painters' (see review) I always had a healthy curiosity about the place & had heard the chicken was pretty great so I was happy when I got to try it. Â The wings were very tasty and the weird yellowy sauce was pretty good. Â I'd recommend going to Spicy's & getting take out, not staying & eating there as the neighborhood is pretty rough. Â I'd also recommend not going too late night for the same reason.
