What a treat this place is! Concrete floors, tables covered in brown Kraft paper and some of the best seafood on the island. Not inexpensive, but the portions were very generous. Go here at least once during any visit to Chincoteague Island.

PS - a local told us today that the chef at Steamers is new and came from another local eatery, The Village Restaurant.

2.5 stars. Food could have been better, service could have been better and environment would have been better had we not been seated right next to the TV blaring on the wall. We could hardly hear each other for the entire 2 hour meal.

Don't come here if you are in a hurry, your meal will take a minimum of 2 hours.

Our server was slow, partly because whoever the manager is doesn't know that it's not a good idea to give your server two sections of tables clear on the opposite side of the restaurant from each other, and partly because he was just slow. We had a hungry, tired two year old with us and, because my husband chose the AYCE, we were held hostage without food for over an hour while they tried to fill him up with hush puppies and soup and other chaff before presenting the steamed shrimp. This pissed me off, especially in a restaurant where they are going to charge you if he were to dare give us a hush puppy from his food. I guess it's not an issue if your whole table chooses AYCE, but be aware that if you aren't ordering it, you will be sitting there watching your dining partner eat for a while before you ever get food.

My broiled platter was so crowded that everything got more steamed than broiled. The shrimp was badly overcooked (both mine and his). The scallops were delicious. One of my three oysters didn't open (aka - was dead) and they still brought it out to me, nice. Child's chicken tenders + fries were good but she was so beyond overtired by the time they brought her food that she would not eat any of it.

There is nothing fancy about this place, but what's fancy about all you can eat crabs for $30-35?  Long plastic tables covered with butcher paper.

Our server, Sean (Shawn?), was a great guy who was very helpful and attentive. The AYE option was a little misleading-- we got a ton of fried chicken and hush puppies, popcorn shrimp, etc.  We really didn't want to bring that, but we didn't realize that we were going to get that first. The chicken was dry, but the other items were fine.

The crabs were okay, but they bring a tray of 6-8 at a time. They get cold three or four crabs in.  It's disappointing because I'd rather have a hot pot of crabs brought to the table.  Still, the crabs are delicious, and the steamed shrimp are creamy and very nice (just not de-veined, so be careful).

Want AYE crabs and shrimp for an affordable price?  This is your place.
