Hmmm....I'm on vacation on an island that has tons of seafood places. Â Not sure, why, but we drove by this place and I'm curious to know how the food tastes there. Â In my stomach says to keep driving, but my head says. Â Give them a try, you could be surprised, who cares if you can get Chinese food anywhere, you can get seafood anywhere too. Â Well my daughter was getting fussy and we knew she wouldn't last in a restaurant. Â So we took her back to the hotel and decided to get take out. Â Well, that's how we ended up here. Â The restaurant is about 2 blocks from our motel. Â
The inside is actually pretty nice. Â This is both a takeout and a sit down joint. Â The sit down area looks updated and clean. Â We did takeout because my daughter was cranky. Â Well if anybody has read my other posts of trying new Chinese places, I always order the Kung Pao Chicken and Hot and Sour Soup. Â I did just that, my wife got the House Special Lo Mein, we also got some egg rolls. Â
The food was cooked fresh, with exception of the hot and sour soup. Â The place you order from is pretty small, I head the lady put my order in Chinese and a few seconds later, I heard the chef cooking up the food. Â My kung pao combo came with an egg roll and pork fried rice. Â The food was cooked pretty fast, I then walked back to out motel room. Â The food was still hot when I got back. Â I started with the kung pao. Â Now, if you look at the picture, you'll see there are tons of veggies in there. Â I'm a purist an like my kung pao the traditional way of diced chicken, peanuts, and green onions. Â I can over look this if the dish has a good flavor. Â The chicken here was also sliced instead of cubed. Â Still no biggie to me. Â The taste was off, it didn't have the kung pao taste, it instead tasted like Hunan Chicken. Â For Hunan chicken, I guess it tasted o.k.. Â I thought the pork fried rice was the highlight of my meal. Â This actually had the most flavor. Â I also thought the egg roll was decent, that's a rarity because I usually don't like Chinese style egg rolls. Â The hot and sour soup, to me was not good. Â The broth had no flavor, to be honest it tasked more like water with tons of hot oil inside. Â It was very spicy, but overall lacked flavor. Â If you are here stay away from this soup. Â The other might be o.k. Â My wife said the lo mein was o.k, but it really is hard to mess up this dish.
O.K., now I know what Chincoteague Chinese Food taste like. Â Its out of my system.
