This is the perfect Saturday night spot for the drinker/smoker/bar scene/crowded house party type...I am absolutely none of the above. The only reason I came here is because of the live music and that almost wasn't a strong enough component in the beginning...but the band that played there by the name of Three (I'm guessing they are local) was worth every second and many more future visits!
Stogie's has 2 levels and outside seating and reminds me of what a perfect Man Cave would look like. It's essentially a living room full of chairs/couches, a bar in the far corner and a cigar room in the back. The band is pressed against the wall in the front of the room (you nearly trip over them when you walk into the door) and there are a couple of TVs strategically placed so that you can watch whatever is on in between sets.
The initial turn off (in my opinion) was that most of the people inside were smoking regular cigarettes, which stank up to high heaven, despite the ceiling fans. All the ones smoking the aromatic cigars were sitting outside...call me crazy, but smoke the smell-goods inside and leave the stinkies out in the street. I bought a "beginners" vanilla flavored cigar which was (other than the accompanying headache) very smooth, tasty and helped block out the stink of Marlboros and Newports. The customer service was on point: they lit and trimmed my cigar for me and was still very hospitable despite the thick crowd of people all shouting their orders. Kudos for attention to details.
Anyway, despite it not really being my kind of atmosphere, it all changed when the music got going. I lost myself in the band losing themselves in their music! And the small setting was absolutely perfect for the sound and visual. It didn't hurt that 3 out of the 4 musicians were VERY easy on the eyes! *blush* Everything they played was mainstream music (except a couple of hilarious originals) and Three added their own delicious twists to all of them; by the end of the night, I liked their versions better :-)
All in all, this place is a decent hang out spot, even if you are like me and are more interested in the live music then anything else they have to offer. I take away 1 star because I was expecting more of a lounge-esque atmosphere but that's more of a personal preference then anything else. I enjoyed myself :-)
So sad that my review for this place simply disappeared, so I don't have the details fresh in my mind. Â What I do remember is that this is one of the best places on the face of the planet for chillin' and smoking a cigar. Â Live, Jazzy music cramped into a tight corner downstairs, and a dark, sexy attic for noise-reduced smoking and chatting amongst friends. Â They also feature a massive humidor in the back, just incase you're not in the habit of traveling with cigars.
Can't wait to get back!
The only cigar bar that serves coffee late at night.
Popular haunt in St. Augustine. Not my favorite place, yet I gave it 4 stars for the coffee factor. Live music. Indoor smoking. A cigar smoker  paradise.
Supposedly haunted, Stogies is a dark semi dingy cigar bar. Classy...um not really but getting served coffee by my friend's blind date, a buff hot Danish guy, made my last time here memorable. Having a conversation and signing  with some deaf guys at Stogies  with a girl pal was a very entertaining and unique experience as well. Seeing them hit on my girl pal was even more funny.
Will I come back to this place? I don't think so, unless I am dying for a hot cup of coffee late at night and happen to be near this place.
You must visit this place once though. :)
This is a great divey kind of place. the night we went, they had a 5 dollar special, which got you a draft and a house cigar. What can beat that? I wouldn't want to see the condition of this place with the lights up, but it was a great place to relax. A few leather couches and wing chairs along with two tops and a bar. Upstairs is another sitting area.Outside seating as well. There were a few checker boards around and good jazz music playing on a decent sound system. Very friendly staff. I would definetly go back if I were in the area. Probably the best time I had while in St. Augustine. As Zac said, a definite Go-To place.
Review Source:Very small, 2 story, but the Jazz Trio that plays here is worth the cramp and kind of adds to the living room atmosphere. Get there early for a seat.
Cigar selection is limited, beers are not. Not the friendliest staff but its almost like they don't have to be.
Indoor and outdoor seating.
I would return to St Aug, just for another hit of this place, night of sophisticated music and intelligent stranger conversations.
THE go-to place for a night-out to chill and smoke a cigar in St Augustine. Â I own a Stogies growler, which I get refilled each time I go, instead of buying 4 separate beers. Â It's a fun and interesting money-saver. Â There's usually something new on tap, and a fine selection of bottled beer, as well. Â Coming out of the door of Stogies each night is some quality, simple, live music.
The outdoor seating, especially if you get a seat close to the door, is perfect.
the best time i had in any  St. Augustine establishment was spent here.
the three piece jazz band was excellent. they had a bluesy / rockabilly tone that i thoroughly enjoyed. it was EXACTLY what i hoped the band would be!
the place was full but not uncomfortably packed. i was lucky and got the best seats in the house, a couch along the back wall to the right directly across from the band. it offered excellent acoustics. i had it all on that couch! a good view of the door for people watching, some privacy, a comfortable seat to enjoy my cigar in, and great acoustics.
the building is an old victorian house with the bar in the middle. at the back of the first floor you will find a humidor with a decent selection of cigars.
upstairs are more places to hang out on comfy chairs and there's even some board games up there. for you ghost hunters the second floor may be interesting. i went upstairs on my own when nobody was up there. the hair on my back stood up and i felt "watched". didn't get anything in my pictures though. there's a bathroom upstairs if downstairs is crowded.
if you visit only one night spot in St Augustine, this should be it.
almost hate to review stogies bc i dont want a lot of people to find out about it...its that cool. Â just a sweet dark little jazz bar tucked away in st augustines small little town with tons of great beers (several of draught), wine and coffee...and a great selection of cigars, GREAT deals on their own name brand. Â we had a few beers and a smoke while watching this great jazz trio for a few hours the other night. Â it was so so perfect. Â i love this place and will ALWAYS hit stogies up while in st augie.
Review Source:Wow. I had been looking for a good cigar bar for quite some time, and thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I decided to give this one a shot. Everybody had it right. Nestled downtown near St. George Street, Stogies is located in an old house with, thankfully, nothing really around it. The bar is located downstairs, and there are lots of beers on tap, and LOTS of beers in the fridge, all of which will be served in a pint glass to your satisfaction. There is also a large wine selection and some liquors to make drinks to your liking. The bartenders are incredibly chill, listen to you intently, and make quite an effort to take care of everyone there.
On most nights there is live music playing, usually jazz, and there are some comfortable couches and chairs located near the band area for you to chill and relax. There's also many places to sit upstairs, where you can meet many new friends, as I noticed many of the patrons of this place were Stogies regulars. If the evening is nice, there are plenty of places to sit outside, a few barstools and tables, and some comfortable lawn chairs spread out around a large fire pit.
The walk-in humidor boasts a pretty good selection of nice cigars, and any place that sells Monte Cristo Number 2's is fantastic in my book. There was also some Romeo and Juliets, and even some local hand rolled cigars. A lot of good cigars in a wide price range, so you can definitely find SOMETHING. The bartenders will cut it and light it for you while your ordering your drink, and they know what they're doing. Just be prepared when you order your drinks, if the place is packed, it may take a little while. The bar area is not all that big, and the bartenders TAKE THEIR TIME in ensuring that everyone is given great service and exactly what they're looking for. Take a deep breath, relax, and soak in the atmosphere...
Overall, this is just one amazing place... The atmosphere is incredible, so relax, laid back, chill, fun-loving, it's everything you'd want when you have a cold pint and a hot cigar. Not like other bars / clubs, where there's fights breaking out, guys acting like douches trying to pick up women, Stogies is a flat-out all-around good time. I've been here a few times and will continue to return on a weekly basis, that is for sure.
I knew it was going to be a great spot when I saw the pencil drawing of Jerry Garcia in the men's room!  Everything about Stogies makes you want to slow down and enjoy good company, good conversation and possibly meet new friends.  From the 75+ beers to the 100+ ports it was easy to slide into an overstuffed armchair and light up a cigar, which the bartender picked out for me, from their humidor.  Stogies is an incredibly inviting spot to stop and have a cold Bell's Oberon and listen to some jazz or  have a smoke and share a few laughs with good friends.  I cannot wait to go back on my next visit to St. Augustine
Review Source:Hot damn, friends, Stogies is what I came to the south for. Â It's been a series of steps and realizations coming to terms with being a local, but Stogies was a damned positive one.
The nights around here are hot and sweaty as a fat kid on a mile run, and nothing cools them down like sitting on a yellow-lit porch with an ice cold pint, sweet burning smells of cigars in the evening air, and a jazz trio playing fuckin' HOT. Â Make no mistake; Stogies is a classy place, this ain't your local dive bar. Â And yet, the prices are reasonable, the crowd is casual, and the time to be had is chill as all hell.
Love, love, love Stogie's. Â I like to go here by myself when I have an hour or two to kill or with friends when we're looking for a place for a drink and a conversation. Â Not a huge jazz listener, but I like the guys and gals they have come play on the weekends. Â It's especially nice to sit upstairs on one of the sofas with a glass of beer and a clove or cigar and let the smooth sounds waft their way up through the square railed-off hole in the floor.
They keep the old house decently chilled during the hot summer days and they also have a walk-in humidor. Â The tenders at the small bar are super friendly and helpful and always up for a chat when the place isn't packed. Â The outside tables are great when the weather's good. Â When I am in St. Augustine I make Stogie's my second home. Â Love it.
Do you like jazz, wine and cigars? Then this is where you need to be Thursday through Saturday nights. It's a small place, so the acoustics really don't need the microphones that keep being used... but the atmosphere is cozy. Big squishy armchairs and love seats. Chess tables on the second floor. For some reason there is a bathtub in the second WC... but don't look in it! The drinks are fine, but don't ask for anything complicated. The huge wine selection and walk-in humidor should keep you sated.
