We had a great time! Â Service was good. Â I had the horseradish Dijon sirloin. The steak was cooked properly. Â My wife had the smoked bacon salmon. She enjoyed the dish but thought the sweet slaw was a bit too sweet. Â The atmosphere was very enjoyable and had the feel of a fancy restaurant. Â Our overall experience was good and we would definitely go back again.
Review Source:Literally the worst place I have ever had a meal. I was in town visiting family and we decided to go to what we thought would be a nice(r) meal. Â As it turns out, we were wrong. Â They have unbelievably bad food. One person in our group had a literally had CENTIPEDE in his salad and all the management did was take it away with a very clear "sucks to be you" tone and look. Had to send my streak back twice and even then it wasn't done right. Our server was extremely apologetic but that does not make up for the consistently terrible food and management didn't bother to make up for either my meal or the centipede salad despite our protests. Â I will avoid this place like the plague.
Review Source:Actually a 4.5! - Went to this place as I was on an overnight business trip - so I was the only diner. There are times when I am on the road that gives me the ability to try local places...this didn't disappoint. The service was excellent - Thank you Shelby. She knew everything about the menu. Asked about the steak and she said how it was prepared and that it is USDA Choice. Yes, I am a nut for Prime, but the filet was good. My Belvedere Cosmo was great... For the appetizer I had the Spicy Garlic Shrimp - tasty indeed. The only change I would make is to not drench the bread in the sauce...it got too mushy, but since the sauce was so good I ate all of it and the shrimp too. The filet as mentioned was good as i asked for it medium rare with a nice sear - it came out perfect. The potato I ordered loaded and it was. Had a blanket of baked cheese over the top with the bacon stuffed inside - ate all that too. The wine was a glass of Alexander Valley Cab and it paired great with the meal. After dinner the manger had approached about the meal...I asked him if they had port, specifically a Taylors Tawny. He came out with Churchills 20 year they just received so I tried that - pretty good. Since they had just got that and he wanted my opinion he took it off the bill - thanks Patrick. All in all the atmosphere is quite nice, service excellent, and the food very much worth it. Will be going back next time I'm in town. Good job :)
Review Source:We've been to several of the Stone Creek restaurants, which are owned by a local group in Indianapolis. We've been generally pleased by all of them, but this one rates the best for us.
The quality of the food is very good and for us on this night the service was excellent. The server was attentive and very knowledgable about the menu. It may be an odd recommendation, but their bread dipping  oil is the best I've had. Zippy and different.
We really liked the baked goat cheese appetizer and the cream of spinach soup of the day. The Tuscan Penne was really defined by the smoked Gouda cream sauce and the Horseradish Dijon Crusted Sirloin was cooked just right.
What was interesting to us was that this restaurant, located in an upscale shopping complex, seems to attract customers from a broad demographic range. You can get a $10 sandwich or a $26 steak. Or you can just eat the bread and enjoy the oil.
My girlfriends and I go out about once a month for an awesome-sauce dinner and we hit the nail on the head for October. I was very pleased with our choice in Stone Creek. Â We came in early to have a taxicab martini at the bar. Â It is a very acquired taste, with the fresh basil leaves really sending ta lovely sweet zing onto your tongue! Â
I love the darker atmosphere allowing for a bit of romance if needed at the bar. Â It was not overly crowded, and we were served right away. Â All pluses in my book. Â Our table was ready right at 7 on the dot and Katelyn was our server and she was outstanding! Â
My friend Darcie is obsessed with their steak salad with a side of fried goat cheese, so I grabbed a few bites. The steak was cooked perfectly and I'm still dreaming about devouring that goat cheese. Â I had the Ahi Tuna individual portion which was extremely good. I loved the sauces....they were a great balance of sweet and spicy.
My 2nd drink was a lemon drop and it was also made very well. I really enjoyed that they don't hold back on filling my glass to the rim! Â My counter-drinking partner Damie enjoyed two pumpkin martinis which the server served at the same time at her request. Â It was a brilliant evening of good service, fabulous food and good conversation - all the makings of well spent money on a girls' night out.
Cheers, Stone Creek! I already have decided my next night out will be spent with you!
Great casual dinner at the bar! Â This place has a great menu and I always walk out satisfied. Â The special was a swordfish over spinach and risotto which was perfectly cooked and just enough sauce to make it interesting. The bottle of wine, Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chard was priced right and made the dinner perfect. Â My wife had her usual grilled Salmon salad which was cooked perfectly with just enough seasoning. Â The only complaint is the bartender had to be reminded to bring us our bread which arrived after the main dish was served. Â I will be back to try another seafood dish which is always good.
Review Source:I can't speak for the food yet, but they have outstanding beverages. Â My friend and I stopped in pretty late on Saturday evening to have a drink while waiting for a friend to get off work within Hamilton Town Center. Â I really enjoyed the ambiance and vibe of Stone Creek. Â It's a classy place, slightly romantical and intimate yet fun and trendy all wrapped up in the same holiday package. Â They carry what I would consider an eclectic drink menu (not your standard Miller, Budweiser, etc.) and they do offer one Sun King selection. Â Wine and martinis seem to be their thing. Â I had a pomegranate margarita, which while quite delightful, wasn't really what I was hoping for. Â I should have stuck with my gut instinct on the lemon drop martini but there is always next time. Â My friend had a taxi cab martini- WOW! Â What a magical surprise of basil-infused goodness! Â Restrooms were clean, staff was friendly and efficient. Â Can't wait to try the food!
Also, Monday night is half price bottle of wine and Wednesdays are half price martinis. Â So, no excuse not to go try the Taxi Cab! Â You won't be disappointed. Â I mean, unless you're not into basil...
Had an excellent meal and server! The steaks were perfectly cooked and everything was delicious. Our server never kept us waiting and was very friendly. I love the quiet intimate feel of these restaurants. The reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 is twofold. One, the hostesses were aloof and were eating food at the hostess station. Two, some of the busboys/servers were chasing each other around in an empty section of the restaurant and making a lot of noise. Granted, I'm pretty sure the restaurant was closing or almost closed because we were the only ones in that section, but still, it was obvious that there were guests still in the restaurant. Regardless, the food and our server were both awesome, and we will definitely return here or the Plainfield location as well as Charbono's near our home.
Review Source:I was visiting from out of town and met with my family for a nice dinner. Â It felt like our server was rushing us the entire time even though the restaurant was not busy. Â He did keep our glasses full of water and provided more adult beverages when needed, but it was not a comfortable experience. Â The food was pretty good, but not something I would recommend if there were other nearby options. Â Very few options for veg-heads, but I'm sure they'll adapt as more of us start stopping in.
Review Source:I'm always pleased with what I get at Stone Creek. The food is always prepared well and usually has some interesting sauce that makes me want to try it. I had the Beef Stroganoff this time and while it was not the very best stroganoff I've ever had (an honor reserved for my ex-mother-in-law's concoction with a wine and cream sauce) it was very good. Decor is contemporary and fun. Great date-night spot.
Review Source:I ordered the scallops and crap pasta which I ordered specifically because it was not a cream sauce but a garlic and wine sauce. Â It was still too creamy for me and I didnt like it.
My friends ordered the medallions and the NY sirloin. Â They loved their meals and I am kicking myself.
The service, look and atmosphere makes me feel happy. Â The food left a lot to be desired. Â We went on Mother's Day. Â I was really excited for the buffet! Â I always get excited when there's food involved but even more when it's a FANCY buffet. Â When we walked to our seats, 30 minutes after our reservation time, we passed the food table. Â I decided I did NOT want the buffet! Â Nothing looked good and it was a mess along with very picked over dishes. Â My sister and I ordered off the menu while the rest of the family got the buffet. Â The food wasn't bad but NOT worth the price at all!! Â It was nice for the experience but we will not be going back unless it's to meet friends that want to go there. Â I went to Mesh (downtown Indy) the week before for my birthday and wasn't impressed. Â When we sat down at Stone Creek we realized they were owned by the same company. Â Ah, OK...might need to stay away from those places.
Review Source:I don't know why I am not feeling this place...the first time I thought it was pretty good, the second was okay and this time was far less than okay. Â
Why Two Stars:
* I made reservations, but we waited at least 30 minutes for our table. Â This would not have bothered me, except I had my 88 year old dad with me and he is a bit frail and the restaurant was so crowded, there were no seats in the bar or near the hostess stand. Â
Â
* The food was average...and a bit over priced for the flavor, quality, and/or portion size. Not that I want a huge plate of mediocre! Â I ordered the ceasar salad and the Short Ribs. Â The Short Ribs (perhaps I should say "rib" in reference to the teeny, tiny portion I was served!?) had an ok flavor, but my plate had been kept "warm" so the meat had started to dry out. Â My dad ordered the Surf and Turf and got two tiny ~ over cooked ~ pieces of meat served atop this weird (been sitting under a heat lamp) rissotto type of mixture. Â Really? Â My brother had the steak and he said it was "ok", but instead of a regular sized Baked Potatoe ~ he got a fingerling ( I exaggerate, but you get my drift...it, too, was small). Â
* The service...there were alot of people coming to our table and one person even said she was assisting our waitress, but requests virually went ignored. Â In short, they were incredibly disorganized.
* The noise...one word "deafening". Â It is soooooooo loud in the bar and dining room. Â The only time I would come here is when I don't want to talk to my dining companion. Â Overall, this was a disappointing dining experience. Â More akin to a trip to Texas Road House - eeeek!
I really like this place but honestly we usually just go to the early bird (before 6PM M-F). Â The food is really cheap (around $10)and it comes with a salad and bread/oil (the salad is sold separately during normal dining hours and the prices are a little higher). Â The atmosphere is great but I agree with other posts that the temperature can be cold in the waiting area and in some parts of the restaurant. Â I have been to the one in Plainfield too and it's a totally different layout but the atmosphere is the same. Â I think the food is wonderful... I have tried several things on the menu and found them all to be good. Â All in all a wonderful dining experience, it's worth the evening/weekend prices but you really feel great getting such a wonderful experience at the price of going to Applebees.
Review Source:I feel like I expected more from this location, since I have been to the Zionsville one. Â My friend and I stopped over after an evening movie on a Monday night. Â Apparently, there is still a wait on a cold, winter weeknight. Â We were told that our table would take 45 minutes even though we were both willing to sit in the bar area. Â The waiting area was tiny, so we sat at the bar to watch a game and order a couple beers. Â
We were finally seated in a back room, which was kinda cheap looking as compared to the main dining room. Â The decor was just unimpressive. Â But that's besides the point. Â The food wasn't disappointing at least. Â I had the french onion soup to start off, which is always AtMAZING and the sea scallops. Â The scallops were cooked perfectly, but the orzo and mushroom cream sauce that they were served with were pretty bland. Â My friend had the Mahi Mahi because the server suggested it. Â She said it was good, but I wasn't too thrilled after trying it. Â It ended up costing us almost $80 for everything.
1.5- the manager did comp my wife's meal (that's the least he could've done). Â I gotta be honest, I'm starting to wonder about dining in the Greater Indianapolis area.
Came here with my wife last weekend. Â This place sits in the relatively new shopping complex out in Noblesville. Â I made reservations in advance, which I didn't think I'd need to on a Friday night. Â Good thing I did, this place was PACKED. Â And though I thought that was a good sign, it really wasn't.
AMBIENCE- I dunno, maybe I have some prejudice against any kind of dining that is near a mall, but I figure most of those places to be wanna be upscale joints. Â I definitely got that vibe from this place. Â It looked like it wanted to be pretty swanky, but it just wasn't doing it for me. Â Oh yeah, there is a complete lack of waiting area, so you're basically standing by the exit, which in the winter time is not cool (no pun intended).
Oh yeah, it didn't help that we were isolated from everyone and seated in what looked to be a converted booth. Â Seriously, it looked like an area where servers should be running bills, or storing glasses. Â One would think being secluded from everyone is a good thing, but that certainly didn't help in terms of service (more on that later). Â
MENU- from the look of the menu, one might think that they are in for a real treat. Â They have a number of appetizers, sandwiches and burgers, steak, seafood and other entrees. Â It was enough that you had a good amount of choices, but not too much in that it was overwhelming. Â Average entree price was $15-30. Â
FOOD- the wife and I started out with the Tuna. Â I know Indy is landlocked, but damn, this tuna was bland and flavorless. Â I think I've had better sushi grade tuna at Kroger. Â Yes, KROGER. Â
After that uninspiring selection, we were served our entrees. Â I got the beef tenderloin with portabellos, loaded potato wedges and veggies, and my wife got the seafood trio- shrimp, mahi mahi, and crab cake. Â
While the beef was tender, it was almost as bland and flavorless as the tuna we had just had. Â Two of the three items in my wife's combo (shrimp and mahi mahi) were overcooked, and the crab cake was drenched in oil. Â Sadly, the highlight of the meal was the bread they started us off with. Â You know it's bad when the bread is the highlight of the meal.
SERVICE- Wow, words fail me on this one. Â It seems that when we had complaints about the food, our server just shrugged it off and thought, "oh well." Â What sleighed me too, is that when the manager came over, I told him "other than the appetizer, things are ok" (this was before we tried our other food). Â I guess I had to be a bit more flagrant, and come out and say I didn't like the food.
Once we got our bill, I asked if we could talk to the manager, and I let him know that our appetizer was not good, and that my wife's food in particular was not good. Â He fired back by asserting that we had said everything was ok when he stopped by. Â We told him we hadn't even tried our entrees when he walked over. Â As most managers should, he ended up taking both my wife's entree and the appetizer off of our bill.
OVERALL- yeah the manager tried to make amends by comping us, but if that food is any indication of their other food, I'm going to have to pass. Â This place was less impressive than an Applebee's. Â Yes, I'd rather "eat good in the neighborhood" than go back to this place.
Chuck Norris rating- one inch punch
I really enjoy this place for lunch. I especially like Stone Creek because they seem to stand out alone against all the national chain restaurants at the Hamilton Town Center (if only there were more independent restaurants at this place!). They have a great diverse menu and a very trendy interior (the atmosphere inside reminds me of the downtown Scholar's Inn - pre-renovation.) They have a large menu selection (sandwiches, salads, hefty entrees) but I always find myself ording one of the same two things - the tuna melt and the turkey rubin. They are good enough that I haven't gotten the urge to try anything new. I also like that you can pick the side that comes with your sandwich. I've tried to come here for dinner on a weekend and the wait was over an hour. I'm not into waiting that long, so I'll stick to this joint for quiet lunches and weeknight dinners.
