Nice meal on the sidewalk outside on a warm June night. Â Appetizers were tasty; arugula salad with feta, gazpacho, and lobster cocktail (although the avocado dip it was served with tasted somewhat gamey - we sent it back and the tasty lobster reappeared without the offending dip...) Delicious wasabi encrusted tuna and grilled portabello with risotto as entrees. Cocktail and wines were good too. Â This place has definitely kicked it up a notch from previous visits, we will be back.
Review Source:Decent food, polite waitstaff, but the rooms are very loud! We had a hard time hearing each other over the din of other people talking.
Also, the portions of the food were far too large for us to eat healthily. I had the tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes, and there was enough on my plate to feed two people easily. The tuna was seared just right, but the wasabi mashed potatoes had so much wasabi mixed into it, I was wondering where the potatoes were!
Despite these small criticisms, I would probably go back and try it again. It certainly had a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
We stopped by here on a beautiful day, so we only sat outside and didn't spend much time inside except to give the waitress our cash before we left--looked cute, and has a nice window that opens all the way on a nice day. The food was good: got the braised beef cheesesteak and the braised ribs and mac n cheese (the appetizer portion), as well as two soups (french onion and soup of the day crab and corn). I would give the food three stars--hits the spot, but not "freakin' amazing" or anything, but it was good. The bread on the sandwich was very yummy and perfectly toasted. The french onion, a staple on the menu, was very good. The ribs and mac appetizer portion was more than enough for me as a meal, and I wouldn't pay the price for the larger portion anyway. If I find myself there again, I might give it an extra star for the nice atmosphere; even though we didn't go inside, on this Sunday afternoon, it was busy, lots of people in and out, lots of people strolling by. Plus, on days where we happen to have our little dog with us, we're always looking for a place that we can sit outside and have her on our lap or at our feet, and this fit the bill. This is a nice little place and worth a stop if you're in the area.
Review Source:Thursday night dinner was served at Stonerose.
Started with he crab cakes which were prepared perfectly and platted in a organized manner. Crab had a nice grilled flavor.
Ended with the pork chop which was also prepared and seasoned well. I would like to have seen the plate separated differently, but the meal was prepared well.
My partner in crime had the Stonerose salad. She enjoyed it. She then ordered the scallops which fresh and cooked perfectly.
I go here all the time for lunch. Â Hands down one of the best Burgers in the area. Â That paired with their truffle fries = one great lunch!
The staff is great. Â Very personable and they know their wines and beers!
I would have given this 5 stars, however I was there for New Years and had a so - so experience with the food. Â This was the only bad experience I've had there and i go quite often.
I paid 23 dollars for a mac n' cheese dish. This mac n' cheese dish came with braised shortrib and small side salad.
I rarely harp on price at a restaurant. If I am going to receive a premium product, I am willing to pay the reasonable premium price. It takes a lot of confidence to price your mac n' cheese dish this way, so I was willing to give it a shot. Sadly, it did not meet expectations. The cheese was a little bland and the shortrib didn't really do much to complement it.
Now, making mediocre mac n' cheese is not a sin, but putting it at a price point that puts it at a higher point than a Center City Garces restaurant isn't a great sign.
I like the atmosphere and drink selection that StoneRose has and I will definitely give them another shot. Their menu shows promise, but the mac n' cheese didn't do it for me.
Went here for a late dinner and drinks on a Thursday night. The have a lot of cool beers on tap and the music they play was very good. I got the mussels with chorizo, which was very spicy and delicious and my friend had the burger, which looked equally as good. The french fries are just like I like them, fresh cut and crispy and our waitress was very friendly. I will definitely be back soon!
Review Source:Went here for lunch today. I have recently moved into Conshohocken and am finally getting around to trying the restaurants in the area. I will definitely be coming back here for another meal.
I had an egg white frittata, and the person I was with had the avocado and crab salad, which came with a heaping pile of crab that you could tell was all fresh meat.
The restaurant was a little loud when we had walked in, but that was due to the music that was playing and the restaurant was quite full for the lunch hour. I plan on coming back here for dinner to try it out soon!!
Had a great bday dinner here recently with some of my favorites. The atmosphere was pretty nice. Quiet and intimate, but not too fancy. Our server was nice as well; she was helpful in advising me in my choice, she was around when we needed her, but wasn't overbearing at all.
Between the four of us, we split a ginormous cheese plate that could have fed six people easily as an appetizer. Both boys got the mac and cheese and shortrib plate, and liked it. I tried it and thought it was tasty but missing a little something. I don't remember exactly what the bff got, but I do remember she got a crab cake appetizer/small plate and liked it. She didn't share, but it looked nice if a bit on the small side (obviously, it's a small plate). Lastly, I got the wasabi pea crusted tuna, recommended by the server. I did really like it, it was a nice size and had good flavor. It was recommended rare or medium rare (some parts of the night are still a little hazy, thanks to Stella Blu's awesome happy hour), and I went with that but found it a little overcooked and too close to medium for my liking. Still tasted pretty good.
Overall, I would go back if someone else was paying! But not dying to go back otherwise.
Trying a new place on Fayette Street each time I'm in town. Â Tonight was with the Yankee fan and they happened to be playing. Â I'm not saying followers of the evil empire are nuts but the CDC is considering making affection for pinstripes a mental disorder.
Interesting that this place has a liquor license. Â I had lived in PA for 8 years and still cannot for the life of me figure out the goofy laws. Â Don't get me wrong, I like the abundance of BYOB but dislike that the state has the industry hostage.
Small but with a nice atmosphere, we sat at a high top for two in the bar area. Â We both went with a Cab and started studying the menu. Â Our server was well versed on all aspects of the food and preparation. Â We started with the Mussels & Chorizo and the Risotto Cakes. Â Mussels were good, the meat seamed a bit dry but the garlicky (yes, I just used garlic as an adjective) broth was downright yummy. Â The risotto cakes were insanely good and I recommend them to all who dine here. Â Crispy outside and a creamy, bacony (get over it) inside that was unctuous.
I was a bit full from the apps so we decided to share the short rib mac n cheese. Â This dish is very well put together with more rib than noodle. Â The meat was tender and braised to perfection. Â It had a companion sauce that was fantastic and complimented the mac n cheese.
I'm usually not a big dessert fan but was in the mood. Â Whilst the Yankee Fan was off powdering her nose, I had the server read me the options. Â Upon her return, I was on the spot to read back the menu. Â I thought I nailed it but forgot the white chocolate chips in the blueberry cheesecake. Â My performance was better than ARod's that night though (oh, he was benched!). Â We went with the more traditional cheesecake. Â It was good but doesn't hold a candle to the Tic Tock dinner in Clifton, NJ. Â You need two hands to hold the plate there.
Over all, good food, great service and the Yankees lost. Â I highly recommend it!
Stopped in for Sunday lunch. The bartender, Zack, made my first experience at this establishment a great one. Â The wine selection appeared to be decent but I typically go for beer during lunch. The quality of the craft beer selection was actually surprising. Â They had a good selection of locally brewed beers: Troegs, Victory, Riverhorse, Fegley's Brew Works and Dogfish Head to name a few. Â To eat I had a grilled cheese with pancetta and gazpacho. The grilled cheese was good but the gazpacho was phenomenal. Â There was a kick to it that I thoroughly enjoyed. Â I will definitely be back soon.
Review Source:Small place with a large bar area, some sidewalk tables and additional seating in the back. Â Service was good, the food though was blandly Average. For starters we orders Short Ribs over Mac & Cheese, that was terrible, the crab cakes were good and the salad with Mozarella cheese was the favorite. For the entrees we had scallops that were judged bland and the Boar Shank was decent but not spectacular.
Overall the agreement was that although the place was nice, the service good none of us cared for the food and we all agreed it was grossly under seasoned. The only saving grace was that the meal was charged to our corporate card.
I went here for a business lunch with some co-workers. Â The atmosphere of The StoneRose is very nice. Â It's dimly lit and has a little bit of a more upscale feel to the design. Â It's not a large place with only so many tables even including the area in the back. Â They do have a place to sit outside on the patio and eat as well if you desire. Â The bar is nice as well and although I didn't partake appears to have a very nice wine list and beer selection. Â There were some televisions in the place as well but the atmosphere at The StoneRose is not sports bar so I woldn't suggest going there if you are really interested in watching an important game.
The server that we had for the afternoon can simply be summed up as very helpful. Â He got our drinks fast and was top notch on the refills. Â Also made a few stops during our lunch to make sure everything was going well. Â So no complaints there. Â I ordered the fish tacos for lunch and they were very good. Â The plate was three lightly breaded filet's of fish in fajita shells. Â The breading was a nice panko breading and there was red cabbage and a russian dressing type sauce drizzled over the top. Â It also came with a small side of very good fries and a nice little side salad. Â Overall my lunch was very fresh tasting with great presentation. Â
My co-workers got the pulled pork sandwich and The StoneRose burger. Â Both of these were much larger than the fish tacos and came with what looked like a half pound of fries. Â The pulled pork came on a ciabatta bread and was stuffed with pulled pork with three pieces of ham over the top of that. Â It also had a very nicely presented cole slaw that looked freshly made on top as well. Â Overall the presentation of all of our food was very nicely done and we had no complaints about the quality of the food either. Â My one co-worker stated the place gets pretty packed for lunch which it did and also that on the weekends it's not that easy to get into the place due to the size. Â So keep this in mind if you are stopping in. Â We had a little bit of an earlier lunch so we got in just fine. Enjoy.
I was here on a Saturday afternoon around 1p. There were only two servers working but it was a Saturday afternoon so the wait can be longer than expected. If you're ok with that and not in a rush than this is the place for you. They have a large selection of wine and Christina was extremely educated on the types of wine they offered. They also have bottled beers such as Palm, Victory, Chimay Red Label (wish they carried Blue label but just my preference). The music selection was a mix of pop and alternative and wasn't too loud. They have 3 tvs, 2 that are located above the bar. Also outdoor dining. They do not take reservations but when you call a head 45 minutes they'll put you on the list. My preference is not to even call ahead and enjoy a drink at the bar until a table becomes available.
I had the Stone Rose burger and it came out medium cooked as I requested. I've been here a few times before. Once for drinks and bar appetizers and the other two on dinner dates. Great place, lighting is dim and easy on the eyes, service is fantastic. I have not had a bad experience at this place. Some reviewers complained about the bartenders not serving them fast enough, but you have to keep in mind that it is a wine bar and they are making sure that they get a good pour into a clean and spotless glass.
I fly out here for work couple times a year and finally noticed this place. Â Looked it up on yelp and saw the good reviews. I decided to have the spare ribs and mac and cheese like everyone else and it did not disappoint. Â The staff was also great. Â Now I need to come back and try the other things on the menu.
Review Source:Great place for drinks! The atmosphere is great, yet it gets really crowded and sometimes slightly difficult to move, order a drink or find a place to sit. {if you're looking to sit} However, when it's not super crowded and you can find a spot at the bar-I give this place an A+. The bartenders are really friendly and quick with getting you what you want.
One of the owners/managers bought a round of shots for the group of people in there one Wednesday night. I thought that was cool.
I'll have to give their food a try one of these times, for sure!
Excellent meal!! Called ahead on a Friday night and a table was waiting for us when we got there. Service was excellent and food even better. I had the fish special of the night that was perfectly cooked. Other members of the group ordered the short ribs and Mac and cheese, stone rose burger and ahi tuna. All excellent meals. Highly recommend this restaurant!!
Review Source:Stone Rose does not take reservations, but they do allow you to call ahead and put your name on the waiting list. Â This place gets pretty busy on the weekend so I recommend doing this. We were sat in the back of the restaurant away from the bar area. The noise level is still very high in the rear of the place. Very nice atmosphere, clean, hip and dimly lit. Â Almost a little too dark, we felt like old folks trying to read the menu using the candle on the table! Ha ha
I tried one of their microbrew selections, they have a nice variety of beer to choose from. Great menu as well with a variety of entrees, apps, and salads. Â My wife and I decided to split a few items...their burger is a must of you decide to eat at this little gem. Â It is an amazing mix of top grade ground beef, sharp cheese, bacon, carmelized onions on a warm bun. Â Served with generous potion of hand cut fries and a tangy dipping sauce. It is a big delicious decadent burger! Â We also choose the Stone Rose salad (fantastic vinaigrette, candied pecans, strawberries and goat cheese). Â The mussels white are server with slices of chorizo sausage and crusty bread...also very good. Â The final dish we choose was the flatbread of the night. Â It was nice and crispy but a little on the bland side. Least impressive of the dishes we ordered. Â We were stuffed so had to pass on dessert. Â Overall a very nice meal and I recommend giving the Stone Rose a try. Â Upscale cuisine in Conshy!
I really wanted to love this place as i live just down the street but it just never lives up... It seems like they have a lot of people working there but no one is really doing anything. The atmosphere is really nice inside and they do have the open air seating in the summer but that's where the perks end.
I went on a Saturday night a few weeks ago with a few friends. We walked in and stood by the front door for a few minutes before just grabbing an empty table on the side. We were hoping to just to get a few drinks and catch up. There were a few tables of people finishing up their dinner so we sat and waited for someone to either tell us to order at the bar or to see if we would have to order with the waiter/waitress in that section. Needless to say we sat their for at least 15 minutes with employee after employee walking by and totally ignoring us. Finally one of us decided to just go up to the bar to order. After standing there for 5 minutes and watching the bartenders back as she was tidying up she finally saw me and came over only to roll her eyes at me and ask "Is there something I can help you with?" as if she had no idea why I was there. It was a cold night and there was only a few groups of people standing around the bar area so its not like they could blame the service on being really busy.
The night continued to be disappointing and the last straw was when we ordered a round of Allagash White and the bartender just popped off the caps and slammed them down on the bar. Now I don't claim to be a beer connoisseur but I thought Belgian style beers were supposed to be poured into a glass and not drank straight from the bottle. When I asked for a glass she appeared to be even more annoyed then before. I like to think that I can take a hint so after that encounter we decided to just leave even though we would have liked to hang out more. Â
Conclusion: Over priced, snobby staff, I will probably go again only because I can walk there but when I move I wont be making and trips back to the Stone Rose.
Finally made it back after the remodel. Â Overall a solid bet; we enjoyed their burgers and threw back a few beers. Â Our pleasant and attentive server Tiffany kept the food coming and the drinks flowing. Â Decor is hip, and there is plenty of on street parking out front. Â The bar scene was packed, so if you are single and running at periscope depth this is a target rich environment and may well be "the" place to hang out in Conshy.
Review Source:Atmosphere: (A-) Cute, cozy, darkly lit lounge. Â I like it, except for the table of loud women sitting by my table, my throat actually hurt the next day from screaming to the person next to me!
Food: (A) Short ribs and mac n cheese. Â Soooo good. Â And the parmesan polenta fries were pretty good also.
Service: (A) It was a semi-busy Wednesday night and I thought the server was very attentive.
Overall: (A) Probably overpriced, but I'm a fan!
Very nice atmosphere - small, but room enough for a decent sized bar and some tables. Â I'd recommend a reservation on a weekend night.
I chose the short ribs with mac and cheese, and it was good. Â The short ribs were actually off the bone (easier to eat in front of others), and the mac and cheese was baked into a small square (gotta try this at home).
This place is great. I've been here several times for lunch and have not been disappointed.
The last time I went had the Cuban sandwich which was huge and delicious. The fries are also really good. My gf had the fish tacos which I sampled and enjoyed.
If you haven't tried The StoneRose, you should.
Stylish, elegant and delicious. The StoneRose is the (not so hidden) gem of Conshohocken. An intimate, modern space with an electric, stylish atmosphere... Perfect for a couple glasses of wine & apps, gourmet meal  AND/OR happy hour.
Dining experience: Spicy Crab Soup (fiery and incredible). Scallops and Quinoa  (perfectly cooked/seasoned). Wine (high-tide).
Conshohocken needs more places like this!!
I wasnt even going to write a review on this until I saw that someone said easily the best restuarant in conshy or something to that extent.
OBVIOUSLY they've never eaten at Blackfish or the Gypsy Saloon - or McDonald's for that matter.
Bottom line; Prices are beyond pretentious, food is average at best and staff is snobby.
If you live and/or work in Conshy, you should definitely make a trip to The Stone Rose a priority. Lovely little bar surrounded by some high top dining and a small back room with additional dining space.
My friend is a gluten-free carvinore so when she ordered the burger without the bun, I figured hey, why not?! The burger that arrived was perfection. Cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested, flavorful, juicy and a generous melting of gooey cheese on top. It was so good I truly did not even miss the bun. To date, it's one of the best burgers I've had.
While it's a great after hours spot to indulge in a couple glasses wine (and their list is good), it's also local and casual enough to serve as a great work lunch spot. I've been here several times with partners and it's never disappointed. I can't wait for winter to roll around so I can indulge in their pumpkin sage gnocchi again.
I know that they experienced a fire a few months past -- such a shame for the two owners! I wish them the best in rebuilding and am anxiously awaiting their reopening.
The StoneRose is easily the best restaurant in Conshy - of all my Conshy dinners out, I never had better food anywhere else. Â Great downtown location and street parking is usually readily available. Â It has a small but cute bar area when you enter the front door, and there is a larger, dimly lit dining area in the back of the restaurant. Â Ambiance is what you make it - romantic? Â Sure, you can do that. Â Jovial happy hour gathering with friends? Â That also works. Â StoneRose is just a classy place to eat, drink and be merry.
They have a really awesome wine selection with wines from many different places. Â The food is to die for. Â I've been for dinner several times, and I've tried the pork chop, the rib eye steak, and some kind of fish (it's escaping me right now)...maybe mahi mahi? Â The food always rocks - not just the main dish, but the sides are tasty too. Â Do yourself a favor and don't make any substitutions - these dishes are best served as they come! Â The service is wonderfully attentive. Â My only complaint is that it can feel a little crammed and crowded with the small seating area in the bar, and in the back dining room, try not to be seated next to the wall. Â I've been here with both small and large groups, and I've loved it all the same. Â Give it a try next time you're looking for a delicious dinner and a unique glass of wine!
I went there for dinner with some friends. We showed up on 6:15p on a Saturday night and were seated right away.
The service was decent, and the burger was delicious, but a bit pricey. It was reminded me of the Rouge burger, taste and price-wise. Â
I am excited to go back and try the ribs with the mac 'n' cheese.
This is one restaurant I wish I could go to more frequently. I've only been here a handful of times but each time I've eaten here the food has been spectacular! I first went for restaurant week and the menu offered a lot for the money. We all sampled each other's dishes and I tried a crab cake for the very first time.
On my most recent visit, I just had a brew and a burger. Sounds like pub food but the burger was melt in your mouth delicious. The meat was flavorful; both burgers at the table were finished to our specifications perfectly and the cheese was rich. The French fries had a unique quality as well! My only gripe is that their beer is one of the most expensive pours in Conshohocken. They sell quality brew but at a steep price when there are great happy hour specials at other establishments. HOWEVER.... On that note, I was told they have half price bottles of wine on Mondays which sounds like a great deal to me!
The staff there is also very nice. The owner walks around on a daily basis and our waitress (Elizabeth maybe?) was extremely accommodating, made small talk and gave great service. Stonerose is definitely a place to visit when in the Consh. One of the more upscale but casual locations
In case you didn't notice, I get a lot of lunch to go here in Conshy. I've been meaning to get here for dinner and haven't had the time, but today I phoned in a lunch order around 11:30 to satiate my curiosity, and of course my appetite.
I waited at the bar, making note of the tony atmosphere and very good tap and bottle selections. The bartender took a phone call in the meanwhile, explaining to the customer that on Fridays and Saturdays, the restaurant does call-ahead seating rather than taking reservation. Call up to 45 miutes ahead and they'll put your name on the list. It looks like a nice night out, whenever I have a chance.
The food was pricey, $20 for a burger, fries and soup of the day (chorizo and lentil). The flavor of the burger was just dynamite, really full of taste and served on a good, soft roll. But as good as the meat was, it was shaped into an absurdly thick patty that was just plain inconvenient to eat. To save my life, I could not keep the toppings on this damn thing. Once I scooped them back on, the cheese was gooey and delicious, the onions were tasty - but whatever it was that they called bacon was not bacon. This slimy, partially cooked meat bore no resemblance to bacon. If there's one thing in the world that I know, it's bacon. And this was something completely different.
The fries were crispy and flavorful, but the soup was just not good at all. Very little chorizo, even less flavor. I discovered that they also serve french onion soup on a daily basis, which I would have devoured had I known about it before returning home from picking up my meal.
I hear good things about dinner, and I won't let this spoil things during my next visit. But for lunch to go, I'll go elsewhere.
Recently went to StoneRose Restaurant for dinner with my girlfriend and another couple. Â As you walk in they have a bar on the left, and some tables across the bar. Â If you walk past that area, you get to the dining area. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to the dining area. Â Apparently reservations don't get you in there. So we got seated at the bar tables (serenaded by juke box music - Cee Lo Green's "F-You" to be exact).
Our waiter was nice and was quick to bring us water. That was the last of quick. After about a 15 minute wait, he came back to take our orders and bring a basket of bread. We ordered a shared appetizer for the table and our meals. Â The appetizer came out pretty quickly, then another long wait for our meals. Â I think was frustrated us most was that the table next to us had two servers (including our waiter) bringing drinks to them while we were sitting with nothing.
On to the food! Â While I'm not a fan of the dining atmosphere or service during my visit here, I must say the food was excellent. Â For the table we ordered the short rib over mac & cheese. Â The ribs were flavorful and tender while the mac and cheese had the perfect amount of cheesiness. Â The two combined in their roasting au jus was great. Â If I were to go back, I would probably order the entree version for myself. Â
The meals we ordered were the rustic potato gnocchi in butternut squash sauce, pan roasted pork chop with white truffle mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, the stone rose burger, Alsatian flat bread pizza, and parmesan polenta fries.
My meal was the pan roasted pork, and it was great.  The pork was moist but not overly salty and worked well with the truffle mashed potatoes.  My girlfriend ordered the gnocchi it was both enjoyable and plentiful.  She had plenty left over to take for lunch the next day.  The polenta fries were both huge and tasty.  While my friend ordered it for herself, it could easily be ordered as an appetizer for the table with plenty left over.  I didn't end up  trying the burger nor the flatbread pizza, but my dining companions both seemed pleased with their meals.
In the end I give the Stone Rose 3 stars based on the food. Â If I hadn't been sitting across from the bar listening to juke box dining music, I probably would have given it 4.
Last night, I finally made it to StoneRose Restaurant for dinner with my hubby and another couple. Â I was looking forward to it.
I was annoyed off the bat because the hostess was defensive when I inquired why our reservation was in the bar area and not in the dining area. Â Off to a great start, right....
Our waiter was nice and seemed with it, but it turns out they were either short-staffed or they have really bad service. Â They took a good 10-15 minutes to get our order and though he apologized, after our appetizer, we waited more than 30 min for our dinner entrees. Â To be honest, it was not that busy... and there seemed to be several servers and bus boys hustling around so I was almost confused. Â We felt ignored.
The mac n cheese appetizer we all shared was good. Â Strong cheese and yummy beef broth/gravy! Â I am not a big meat person but the others seemed to like the falling apart, tender rib meat a lot!
For dinner:
Gnocchi in butternut squash sauce - this was sweet yet savory and very good. Â Actually the sauce was but the gnocchis were okay.
Pork chop with white truffle mashed potatoes - tried a bite of my friend's BF's. Â It was tasty and seasoned well.
StoneRose burger - my hubby got this and he's a huge meat eater but felt the burger was too thick. Â The meat was like a clumsy ball of meat in there. Â It was still good in taste and the carmelized onion was awesome. Â
Alsatian flat bread pizza and parmesan polenta fries - the polenta fries were yummy but cut way too thick, like 2 x 1 x 5 inches. Â i think that takes away from the "fries" aspect compared to other restaurants. Â i like that it comes with gravy but it was too thick and salty like it came out of a can. Â Was it? Â The flat bread pizza was good but the arugula on top was over-dressed... sad since I heart arugula. Â
Seeing my adorable friend and her BF was awesome, but overall the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Â We left and ate dessert at a diner down the street...
Although I have tried most of the menu, and been extremely pleased with everything I have tried (the shortrib mac'n cheese is an essential); I always end up going back to the burger.
The burger, truly one of the best in the area, Â is perfectly seasoned/cooked and topped with a onion/bacon medley that I only wish came in a condiment form at my neighborhood Whole Foods. Â It comes with some fresh hand cut fries (awesome!) and house special sauce (nothing special but really compliments the fries). Â You will never leave hungry or unsatisfied after ordering this meal (aside from your conscience telling you to drive directly to the gym). Â
The special cocktails look good, and I've heard great things about the wine list, but I'm more of a beer guy. Â I appreciate the fact that they support all the local breweries with their draughts and much of their bottle list. Â Despite only 6 draughts, and 20'something bottles, they have one of the better beer selections in Conshohocken, which to me does not seem to me much of a 'beer town'.
Bartenders and servers are extremely friendly and attentive and the owners are always making sure everyone is satisfied!
The only real down side is that due to the small size, it can be sometimes be hard to get a table. Â Go early to beat the rush!
With the plethora of great restaurants inside Philly, this is one of the few I am willing to go find where my cars parked and make the trek to Conshohocken.
PS: Ask about the 'Mumford Moon'.
Went to StoneRose for dinner last night with some friends and had a great experience. Â It was a Tuesday night and it was busy but we were seated immediately in the back room - which I didn't even realize they had. Â The atmosphere is nice - relaxing and warm. Â Could definitely fit for a romantic dinner date but also perfect for meeting up with friends.
They had a nice wine selection and the waitress allowed us to taste some wines before ordering. Â I would assume other places would do that as well but I don't think it's ever been offered to me. Â The menu looked spectacular - I've already picked out several things I want to try on my next visit (which I hope is soon!). Â Since I had heard wonderful reviews about the braised short ribs over mac and cheese, my heart was already set on that and knowing it would be a good sized meal I didn't want to get any apps or salads. Â BUT the cheese board, flatbread, pear salad...along with almost everything else...all looked wonderful and my only wish was that I was hungrier.
My meal was even better than expected. Â It does sound like an odd combination, but who doesn't love homemade baked mac and cheese? Â The cheesiness combined with the tender meat was phenomenal. Â Perfect choice for a freezing cold winter night. Â It comes with whatever the market vegetable is (asparagus - ick) and I forgot to ask if I could substitute but I didn't even care. Â My dinner companions all ordered the gnocchi each with a different sauce - we shared and all three were delicious, I particularly enjoyed the prosciutto and pea.
Unfortunately I had to skip dessert because I was so stuffed - I didn't even let her tell me what was on the menu so I didn't give in but that is also on my list for the next visit.
Just want to add that the service was great too - our waitress was quite friendly and didn't try to rush us out the door, even long after we had paid. Â She even continued to refill our water glasses until we finally left.
I can see this place coming a new default restaurant to visit - I can't wait until it's warm outside and I can come back and eat with the windows open!
I was beyond impressed by this restuarant! Food is outstanding and the atmosphere is very comforting . I have tried to find flaws in the dinning room but had no complaints the owners obviously took no short cuts, they paid incredible attention to every detail. The quality of the ingredients the chef procures is also amazing. I happened to be there one day when the farmer came in with his produce, it was some of the most beautiful raw food i have ever seen.
It has been 2 months since i was last there and im still thinking about the amazing cheese board and incredible crabcake! It is now one of my first stops whenever im back in philly. When I lived in Philly I typically  spent my evenings in rittenhouse square, however,  Devon and rouge have nothing on the Stone Rose!
Went on a week day at noon. Naomi has most of my sentiment captured in her review.
Very new look, clean and angular inside. Looked like a nice wine selection, though we didnt partake. Â Non-descript from outside. If not for a recommendation of a local (ex-NYer), would never have gone.
The uniqueness and value of the menu (most lunch items less than $10) would've made this a "5." Service was noticeably slow (20-25 min) given the lack of a crowd.
I had an SBLT (salmon) and my friend had the "Stone Rose Burger". Both perfectly cooked and served with spiced "Hand Cut Kennebec Fries" that were fabulous.
If this were around the corner, I'd be there once a week!
Since my first visit, I've been back to Stone Rose for several business lunches and a couple drink-a-ramas, and have been pretty impressed each time. Â Not just by the food (crab and avocado salad is a BIG win, as is the cheese plate), but by the people.
You can so tell how much these guys are putting into making this place the way they think it should be. Â
One of the owners (Brian - yay, Facebook friend!) is there pretty much all the time, and you can hear him walking around and introducing himself to people who come in... Pretty much really cute that he does this, especially considering that once people think they "know" a restaurant owner, they will then attack him/her at every turn for "special" requests and even more "special" complaints. Â Sorry, kids, I rocked the service industry for too many years, I guess :)
Anyway, I'm such a fan, and really hope Stone Rose becomes a staple. Â I have to remember to make one of my own "special requests" the next time I'm there, which is to add hummus and pita to the menu (I have a problem with hummus, I know. And with parenthetical references).
Definitely a great place to swing by, especially when the doors/windows are open and you can rock some sun/breeze.
