I just discovered this restaurant and love it. The atmosphere is clean, casual and friendly. I have had only lunch on several occasions and have been very impressed. First of all I am a huge soup fan and each day they have 3 to 5 soups, all of which are outstanding. My very favorite being reuben soup! This soup should be permanetly on the menu. Also of note is the spicy tomato and clam chowder. The sandwiches are generous and very tasty. My only complaint are the fries are not the best. They lack in crunchiness
Review Source:We decided we would head here one night for a somewhat early dinner. Â We were able to sit where we wanted. Â The booths for 2 where you can see all the TVs behind the bar were very cool.
The atmosphere is mellow and casual. Â The place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside.
We decided on a couple of their appetizers to share and a beer each. Â The recommended beers by the staff were both very good choices. Â For dinner we shared the beef skewers and the chicken quesadilla. Â The beef was tender and the flavor was just okay. Â The quesadilla was really good and something we would order again.
No offense to anyone with children, but unfortunately, this saloon does allow minors. Â During our whole dinner there were 2 kids literally running around the restaurant. Â We have no idea what the parents were doing (obviously not paying attention or caring how their kids were ruining other patrons' dinners). Â Luckily, the staff finally said something. Â However, the parents still didn't get the HUGE hint to keep their kids at their table. Â Unfortunately, this lasted our entire meal. Â The staff apologized profusely, but we certainly didn't hold it against them.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and without the kids, we could see it as a great place to chill out and enjoy a game and a beer. Â We will be back, but hopefully we will be seated far away from any kids.
Went to watch the Green Bay game on Sunday. Ordered a half tuna salad sandwich and a cranberry walnut salad. The salad was great but the sandwich was very disappointing. The wheat bread was stale - actually broke apart after the first bite. Tuna salad was not good. This is the first meal I've had there that wasn't good.
Review Source:We came here around 9 on a saturday night, we got crab dip, and a sandwich with fries.
The crab dip was bland, the sandwich was pretty good, the fries were fries, and thats about it.
The waitress was quick, and a bit surly. The food came quick, and the water cups stayed full.
If your looking to be blown away by a meal, look somewhere else. If you want pretty decent pub type food, then have at it.
My mother and I ended up coming to this erstaurant because we needed a quick lunch before a friend's graduation ceremony, a fact which we informed the staff of. All the servers were extremely friendly and got our food to us very quickly, so definitely good service.
We split a CBLT with fries, that thing was freakin' huge! The chicken was wonderfully cooked and shredded, there were plenty of thick strips of bacon, and the mustard on the sandwich was divine. The fries were good, nothing spectacular, just good fries.
All in all, great place, if I'm ever back in Bend, I hope to go catch a drink there as it looked like a cool bar scene.
I had lunch here on Wednesday, and it was excellent. Â We had a larger group that included family ranging from Grandma to a two year old. Â Our waitress was very friendly, and service was speedy. Â Most of us had the $9 lunch special where you choose two from a list of soups, salads, and half sandwiches. Â EVERY SINGLE PERSON in our group really liked their food. Â Miracles do happen! Â My soup and salad was tasty and fresh, and the rosemary roll was yummy. Â I ate half of my Mom's potato chips. Â Those homemade chips had something awesome going on!
Highly recommend!
YES. Five stars for this place on a Saturday night. (for what it is, it earned it).
We rolled in here at midnight after the booth next to us dragged us out of an epic night at Astro lounge where the live band was going OFF. Â They were locals and honestly, we trusted them even though it seemed impossible to top Astro.
Rather than try to explain some of unexplainable things I saw that night (like a guy who went from dancing with a hot girl to dancing with a wood support beam in the middle of the dance floor without blinking an eye...and then proceeded to work that pole like a runaway, or how no matter WHAT song came on it was as if was everyone's "favorite f-ing song" and personal anthem, or the moment when i looked up to see three legit cowboys in Stetsons teaching an actual toga party straight out of Animal House 'How to Dougie'), here are some possible slogans for Summit:
- "Like a Time Capsule from 2002"
- "Where you can be as White as you Wanna Be"
- "New Orleans-'Lite'"
- "Where Hogging is Not a Choice"
(to be fair, there were a fair number of hot girls here, but they had NOTHING on the girls who frankly, you NEVER see out dancing in LA, NYC or SF... and they were putting those blondes to SHAME grinding dudes like pepper shakers).
- "(Gone) Country Grammar"
- "Where the DJ Sign Reads "Top 40" (...but he means "from your college days)"
- "Where the Makers Flows like Water...for half the cost"
As for the drinks?
My girl walked up to the bar and said "I'd like a Makers rocks. But in a big glass." the bartender said, "you mean you want a pint of Makers?" to which she corrected him, "No, there a bunch of drunk bitches and I don't want them knocking it over" To which he responded with a smile... and a pint of makers.... for 7 dollars.
Then she asked for a vodka diet.
Poor guy looked sad.
Which was the complete opposite expression i had when that drink was handed to me the first time. (the second pint however, I don't remember as vividly)
I've been to Summit a few times. The first was for a trivia night. It was okay but honestly, I paid like 20 bucks to play trivia when I could have gone to Astro instead. Sure it was for charity but really? The beer selection is decent but in a town like this (with wicked good beer) the local places seem to always carry only mediocre beer on tap (what is with all the Blond Bombshell? Ugh!).
The second time I went for the Griz-Cat game. It was fantastic (although the Griz lost). It was so nice that Summit provided a place for the MT alums to watch the game. Spot on!
The third time I went here was for St. Patty's day. The atmosphere is typical saloon but the food is great. I'm still waiting to try the house club (I was on a vegetarian streak the last time I visited) but the people I was with were very happy with their food. I would definitely go back the next time I was in Bend.
The food has been consistently very good for the handful of times we've eaten here and I appreciate the food on the kids menu is made to order and not frozen nuggets of crap (The chicken fingers are made fresh and are quite good.) Atmosphere lacks something - feels more like a college bar than a restaurant or even sports bar. They won't win awards for their service either - whether I'm with my kids or with friends from work, it always feels like the waitresses would rather be somewhere else. That said, most of the time it seems the chef brings out the food and is always very nice.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I really enjoy the Summit for happy hour-especially their food. It's well priced and the cocktails are very strong. I love just getting the burger for $8 and it's always way more than I can eat.
We like to go when there is a game playing-like Monday Night Football. It doesn't get too busy but it's fun to watch everyone get into it.
I've always had good luck with the servers as well. They Are usually friendly but sometimes a bit slow. It's not really a grab and go kind of place. The owner usually stops by and asks how everything is as well-which I really like.
Overall I enjoy the summit for the occasional dine out.
Atmosphere- pretty boring
It is pretty much a sports bar, so...
Food- not great
I ordered fish and chips. Â The fries were cold when they came out and the fish was mostly rubberry like it had gotten freezer-burn at some point. Â Also the batter was barely done on the inside and had sort of raw dough taste. Â Completely gross. Â The best thing I had was the side salad that they graciously allowed me to have instead of cole slaw.
Service- not great
She was nice enough, but very slow.
Hadn't been to The Summit in a while, so we decided to stop in there for lunch today during Fall Festival. Â Big mistake. Â
They weren't super busy, yet our server was excruciatingly slow and even gave us attitude. Â Since there wasn't a table available to accommodate our party of 6 (4 adults and 2 kids), we sat with moms and kids in a booth and dads at the 2-seat table across from us. Â The server took the men's drink and food orders, but not ours, and then disappeared for about 15 minutes. Â Once she came back with the men's beers we politely asked her if we could order. Â She rolled her eyes, asked my friend what she wanted to drink and then left--never asking what I or the kids wanted! Â About 20 minutes later she brought out the men's food and my friend inquired about her beer and told her that we would like to order food, too. Â The server said, "Oh, I forgot,", took off again, came back a few minutes later (without the beer, mind you) and slammed a bottle of ketchup down on our table and took off again--still not taking our food order. Â WTF?
Anyhow, long story short--the service was awful, it took almost an hour to get our lunch, and the food was well below average. Â Bread on the sandwiches was stale, my quesadilla was cold and my husband, who isn't too particular about food, said that it was the worst philly sandwich he's ever been served.
Yeah, we won't be going back to Summit again.
Good place. My lady and I rolled through Bend on a Sunday and stopped to get something to eat. We stumbled upon this place and we were happy with our experience. Â We sat at one of the cocktail tables near the bar. I was stoked 'cause they had a bunch of football games on and it was opening Sunday. I got to watch my Niners have a good first half. Our food was pretty darn good and the service was above average for a pub/bar. And the servings we nice sized. We ended up having to take some of it with us. They have full bar and a pretty darn good beer selection. Next time I am in Bend, I look to stop here.
Review Source:The Bend Blogger girls are a hungry bunch. The Summit was happy to accommodate our taste buds for a recent lunch. It was St Paddy's Day and most of us had to return to work, but two of the girls were able to take advantage of the Guinness special - I was jealous! The lunch menu is ample and varied.
A couple of the girls selected a hummus plate - the hummus was house-made, garlicky and yummy. Served with warm pita, olives and veggies it was a filling and healthy meal. Someone else feasted on a huge chicken salad sandwich. Another friend was enjoying soup and salad. Her Crab & Sweet Potato soup smelled wonderful, but she wasn't sharing so I have to assume it was good. Since The Summit is run by the same folks as The Downtowner (another favorite lunch spot of mine) I am guessing that they use the same wonderful soup recipes, so it's sure to be a safe bet any time.
Me? I had a burger and fries. You can order a standard burger, and add from an array of toppings (including sauteed 'shrooms and cheese) for no additional charge. Several other toppings (like bacon) are also available for a per-item charge. I have to say - it was a damn good burger. Still not the best burger in Bend (that honor goes to Baldy's), but definitely the best one downtown. The patty was juicy and tasty. Toppings were ample. And all the condiments (lettuce, tomato, onion, etc.) were served on the side. Yay! The fries were just OK, but there were definitely a lot of them and I managed to grub a lot of them up.
If you are visiting town or there for dinner there's a wide variety of beers - including Guinness - and wine available, as well as a full bar. This might also be the only place in Bend where I have actually seen Anchor Steam available on tap. Come to think of it, it might be the FIRST place outside of the Bay Area. They have an extensive entertainment calendar too!
