Despite my recent HORRIBLE experience at the Taco Bell at 106th & Michigan (that review is on my profile too, will NEVER return there. Ugh!), I was hungry, I was on my way home after a class, it was late, I had a few bucks....in other words, the moment was perfect for a late-night run for the border.
The drive-through experience went as expected, nothing new nor surprising there. What did surprise me was that they told me that they had just run out of something and had to make a fresh batch real quick. They asked me to pull over and they would have it out asap. Okay, this happens once in a while to everyone who is too lazy to get out of their car at a fast food greasy spoon joint, so I'm cool with it, nbd. Besides, I have a smart phone, so I've got stuff to do while I wait, right?
They not only brought out my food piping hot and PDQ, but they even gave me an extra burrito for my troubles without me even saying anything! Now THAT my friends, is how customer service is done. And that's why I WILL return to the bell....at least this location.

I know it's Taco Bell. I know it's fast food. But for a time-crunched vegetarian who doesn't bring his lunch to work, this place is a godsend.
Not all Taco Bells are created equal. The one near my house is consistently horrible. But this place is reliably delicious.
They've never gotten my no beef/beans instead orders wrong, unlike most other locations. The food always tastes like it's just been cooked, and - though they're probably required to say it - the drive-thru folks sound genuinely interested when they ask me "How are you today?" (It's tremendously tempting to start rambling on about how my dog puked on the stairs, I stepped in it and took a hard fall, so I'm doing quite well, thank you very much - but I refrain.)
If you're in a hurry and looking for some good drive-through action (and maybe a quick therapy session) for lunch, check it out.
