There are few things which can warm someone's soul than pans of spiced foods ready to devour for lunch on a cold day. All eighteen degrees of this day guided me to the beacon of warmth on 3rd to indulge in some Indian cuisine.
We were seated immediately and had glasses of water poured for us instantly. I made my way over to the food selection to see a small buffet area offering some of the popular [americanized?] dishes with nice levels of steam rising up. I started with rice and worked my way over to the chicken tika masala. Add some saag paneer and a piece of naan and it's a classic lunch combo.
The chicken tika masala was bland tasting and didn't have the slightest hint of spices, even the coloring was a little off when I got a look at it in natural light. It was nice the chicken was in bite sized morsels, but that was the end of the good things about it. The saag paneer was also lacking a fresh flavor, and it made me wonder if ordering off the menu should have been the way to go over buffet. I know the rules.. quality for quantity. Something inside me was hoping the rice pudding was going to turn things around, and it kind of did. I had a small serving of it, and fortunately it tasted fine.
The service was adequate for a buffet, and there is a large parking lot out in front of the restaurant. The building itself could use some sprucing up as the peeling paint around the trim of the building.
What can I say, I took what was available given the smaller variety.
I tried this resturant when it first opened and was mildly interested. A few years passed and a friend suggested we go there for lunch. I'm glad he did. I had not had the lunch buffet before. It was amazing! All the food had a freshly prepared taste. The food quality was excellent and the rice was cooked properly. Since becoming vegetarian I have frequented the place even more. I highly reccomend this place for lunch. I have never been there for dinner so i can't say anything about that, but if you're looking for a great place to eat for lunch and you're just the little bit adventuresome, GO THERE!
