I've only been here once but I really enjoyed it. I came with a friend who had already been several times so I let him lead the way in ordering. After he ordered his wine we realized that we both wanted the same one so we ended up just getting the whole bottle- the moscato that they carry was delicious. The mini grilled cheese sandwiches were really good as well even though I was a little skeptical of the tomato jelly since I'm normally not a tomato eater. We ordered a pizza and it split between two different types and both were really good. The service was a little spotty and it took forever to get someone to come over and bring us our check. Other than that we had a great time. I hope I'm able to come back again soon!

Every dish we've had is amazing.  It's a classy joint that has live music and outdoor seating near the water.  Tonight we had the potato nachos.  SO DELICIOUS!  The chips taste as if they were made there!   We also had the wedge salad.  Amazing flavors.  Then we had the Pan Seared redfish, no couscous, but the ratatouille risotto.  Amazing!  Light tasting dish, but filling.  Last, we tried the pear tart.  Not too sweet, though it could use a scoop of ice cream!! flavors were spot on, a great glass of wine and wonderful ambiance and service.  Always a top notch place to go.  OH and to top it off, Friday night at 7...no wait!!  I'm sure that won't last.  It still is relatively new to the area.  With food like that it won't stay a secret for long.  The menu is simple for entrees, but I'd rather have fewer choices, but amazing food than have a lot of selection but not nearly as yummy!  On our last visit, my husband had their pizza. He said it was fantastic.

Great location, with a lovely patio view of the lake. Menu options are very limited. Servers are friendly and helpful. Time to get food out is slow. Fantastic wine selection.

We have a wine bar in Kingwood! Who would ever have guessed?

What's even more unbelievable than having a wine bar in Kingwood, is how awesome this place is. Please allow me to take you through why the Tasting Room deserves all five of these stars.

    1. Service, with a smile. I've never had a bad waiter here, ever. They are all knowledgeable, friendly, and very willing to help suggest wine pairings, or dishes if you don't know what to order. Even when ordering take-out pizza the staff is nice.

    2. The wine list specials. I would not have any idea how to pick a wine off of their list without the feature box at the top. I've selected a white wine off of this list each time I've eaten here, and not been disappointed once. I also appreciate that they often include local Texas wines on this list, so they aren't snubbing something  good even if it comes from a non-traditionally-wine-snobby place.

    3. Food here is spectacular. I haven't found a thing on the menu I didn't like (even the more unusual choices were good).  A few of my top picks:

Appetizer: Mini Grilled Cheese Sandwiches - love that tomato jelly

Salad: TTR Sliceberg has loads of bacon and a delicious spin on ranch dressing

Entree: Beef Short Rib Pot Pie - comes in a giant ceramic dish. Easily feeds 2.

Pizza: Carbonara - take my favorite pasta, put it in pizza form, and you have perfection.

Dessert: Apple-Blueberry hot pot - Trust me, you won't even care that there is no chocolate on the dessert menu.

    4. Local Support, kind of goes along with the Featured Wines, but I really like eating food that didn't have to go very far to get to me.

    5. They serve Brunch. (only on Sunday though, which stinks, I like Saturday brunches too) Can you ever have enough good brunch places? No, didn't think so. I haven't actually gotten to experience brunch here, but I'll get around to it eventually.

A friend and I decided to stop by yesterday since it was a beautiful day for the patio.  We were so happy to find out they had their "Saturday Sevens" wine tasting going on.  It is held every Saturday 11-4 where you can taste 7 new wines that they have featured along with special pricing for bottles.  We will definitely be back!

Horrible service from walking through the door! Spoke to the Manager who did absolutely NOTHING!!! We decided to leave before the food came and will never go back!!

I love the atmosphere and the wine bar concept, the prices; however, are a deterrent.

We have had the opportunity to visit The Tasting Room on Lake Houston three times so far.  The first was a couple of months ago for a group "happy hour", and the last two times were on Wednesday, June 27th and Saturday, June 30th.  The happy hour was a little hard to gauge, as there were lots of guests there that evening.  However, it appeared to me that no one was complaining, and everyone looked to be having a good time.

The two visits in June were in conjunction with our wedding anniversary.  The Wednesday night we were there was a Paella Party and Wine Tasting that The Tasting Room was hosting.  The event was being held out on the patio where there was entertainment provided by Gregg Watts, a one man "acoustic" show covering everything from The Rolling Stones to Jimmy Buffet.  While the weather was very hot that day (high 90's), the patio was very enjoyable.  We arrived around 6:45pm.  The Tasting Room has a covered patio overlooking the lake with ceiling fans, and the fans really keep the lake breeze moving.  The Paella was very authentic and wonderful, cooked outside on the patio by their Chef Paola.  The dish had plenty of seafood, which many restaurants will skimp on to save money.

On the next Saturday, we went back for their brunch to try out their Eggs Benedict.  We were joined by another couple who helped us celebrate our anniversary.  Three of us had the Eggs Benedict, and one had the Creme Brulee French Toast.  After we finished, we were able to order a "kid's version" of the Red Velvet Pancakes for our dessert.  ALL OF IT WAS FABULOUS!!!!   Again they had entertainment there for their brunch.

While at first glance the menu may appear a little pricey to some, I truly believe it is their mission to provide an "experience" while you are there.  If you ask, nothing seems to be beyond their reach.  If you want something "special", there are no complaints from them, they just find a way to make it work with a smile on their faces!  Sometimes when you visit dining establishments they have a certain way of doing things, which can make it difficult for special requests.  This is a relatively new Wine Bar in our area, and is a very welcome establishment!  If you've had a rough day or week, this is really a great place to go to forget your problems!  From the management and staff to the breeze from the lake, you'll truly enjoy great food and wine, with some other nice patrons too!  Thank you to The Tasting Room for making our Anniversary so Special!!

The selection of wine offered is excellent and appetizers are always good. I have to have the pork flautas and toasted cheese  sandwiches.

I had high hopes for this place but was sorely disappointed.
We arrived with a large party and was seated quickly, it was early.  Our waiter was polite and fairly knowledgable.  We were informed that there were not enough menus for our table so we had to share about 4 menus between 11 people.  This was very inconvenient due to the fact that their wine list is also on their menu.
After finally getting our wine we ordered.  About half our table ordered some sort of tuna dish (from a very limited menu).  About 5 minutes after our order was taken we were told that they were out of tuna, and had to order something else.  I ordered an appetizer to share with a friend.  It was the smallest appetizer I had ever seen so I ended up with literally 4 bites for dinner.
We informed them on our arrival that we would need separate checks and were told that would be no problem but when the bills came almost all were incorrect.
Probably will not return for another visit.

Our party of 4 was promptly seated on the patio on a pleasant Wednesday afternoon.  The waitress greated us and gave us instructions on the menu and brought water for the table as we made decisions.  We decided to take advantage of the 1/2 price sparkling wines by the bottle and then ordered an appetizer and dinner.

We ordered the truffled fries which were good, but not as good as I've had elsewhere.  Our dining companions got one of the large salads and the fish special.  My wife and I shared a dinner salad and pizza.  The only complaint was the fish special.  The presentation and taste were good, but the portion was small for a $20+ entree.

All in all it was a nice dinner on the patio, but I hope they can offer so more reasonably priced appetizers or shared plates.
