This charming trattoria was the perfect place for my lunch date yesterday!
The staff was welcoming and friendly, service was quick and seem less.
I had the Cobb salad which was delightful (can't wait to have it again) and my date tried one of the the flat breads (pizza). Â We were both extremely happy with the food and can't wait to go back!
Loved this place!! Â Loved the ambiance, location, server, decor, wine menu, and dinner--all of it! I was especially impressed with their wine menu. Â They had my favorite Chardonnay you can't find anywhere around here. Â I was very pleased with the option of Kimmel Chardonnay from Mendocino County, California. Â Anyway, I definitely will be back soon in hopes to sit up in the cozy loft again. Â I also would love to visit for lunch sometime or even go chill at the charming looking little bar one evening. Â I definitely recommend this place. It seemed too good to be true to have here in Tulsa.
Review Source:I'm trying really hard to stop spending so much each time I go out to dinner so initially I vetoed this place when my sister-in-law suggested it. Â The primis are somewhere between $15-$20 and the secondis are upwards of $20. Â However, they had homemade pasta on the menu and it was really close to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center that we were going to after dinner. Â So, I finally agreed. Â
The space was a little tight but fairly well decorated. Â They have this large curtain draped along side the bar that gives it that old-school theatre feel. Â The lighting could have been a little more ambiant but overall, the space was fine.
Our waitress was fantastic. Â She was on point, able to answer all of our questions and politely let us know she would check when she didn't have the answer. Â I know that seems standard but for some reason it felt above and beyond.
The food was all great - we had several dishes and split them:
Appetizer:
1. Â Risotto balls - a little dry and needed salt but the sauce that went with it was great
2.  Side of kale  - a little oily but still really good
Main:
1. Â Cavatelli - house made. Â Everything on it was great but the pasta was a little hard. Â I think this was probably the first dish they prepared and it just sat there while the others were cooking. Â Not sure why else is would be so tough.
2. Â Lobster ravioli (without the lobster for us since we are vegetarian) - stuffed with ricotta and really well prepared.
3. Â Saffron risotto - delicious and perfectly runny as risotto should be. Flavors were complex and interesting. Â I guess a little saffron does that. Â
4. Â Brussel sprouts (without the bacon) - delicious
All in all, we really enjoyed our meal and will be back.
Stop the presses: First!
Big J Thompson fan, particularly Juniper. Â This is in the Philtower space held most recently (briefly) by Edward Delk; immediately next to the Downtown Courtyard Hotel/ Atlas Life Building. Â You have a good shot to find metered street parking during the daytime at least.
OK- on to the food! Â Had lunch today with a couple colleagues. Â So this is a prime-style Italian restaurant experience. Â Full bar, linen table cloths, and a step up in price (as a website perusal will reveal). Â Our service was competent and at a suitable pace. Â Seemed like the waiter was just a little green as to the menu--makes sense since they just started doing lunch last week. Â
I had the garlic herb chicken; colleague the cavatelli (chicken, prosciutto, asparagus over pasta); other guy the Uovo Fritto (a fanciful caesar salad with a breaded/ fried egg on top--splendid visual effect!). Â Everything was flavorful, plated well, and appeared to be fresh; no evidence of warming tables here!
Upon our food arriving--this is important--I quickly ordered a fried risotto cake appetizer for the table to share. Â Menu is a la carte. Â That did not surprise me; portions however are on the small side. Â None of us ordered the "large portion" that the actual lunch menu (in restaurant/ not online) offered.
Cliffs: Â
+ Food was enjoyable.
+ If you're a big ole boy/ or just really hungry--you're going to want larger portion -or- to layer your meal with an app or salad.
+ For a first time lunch, good not great. Â
Looking forward to trying with the wife for dinner. Â *reviewer reserves the right to do a follow up review & bump this place up to 4-stars thereafter.*
