Tejo Bar & Restaurant

Went after work with co-workers last night.  Very nice place, street parking.  The bar had quite a few people around it but we sat in the dining room.  Wasn't expecting the prices to be what they were, BUT all the food was fantastic, so it was worth the price.  The red sangria was delish!  The waiter came out with warm bread right away.  Everyone ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their food.  Stuffed salmon, linguine with clam sauce, chicken in garlic sauce and a shrimp dish, were all very tasty.  They served family style salad, veggies, potatoes and rice so there was a lot of food on the table.  Didn't have room for dessert but there was a wide selection of cakes, pastries and sorbets.  Would def go again!  Maybe a little later to take advantage of Karaoke night which started at 9pm.

I live in Kearny and i stop by Tejo maybe once a year to grab a bite before I head out to the city for something.  Its a great spot for Portuguese food, not the best but its a got a cool bar that fits 30 people maybe.  Big TVs to watch a game and order a few beers.

called and made a reservation on the same night. once we arrived, we were told that they were not taking reservations since it was a holiday weekend. although we told him we spoke to someone on the phone who took our reservation, they did not honor it, so we had to wait at the bar.

we ordered sangria which was SO strong, almost too strong to drink!

seafood paella was decent but some of the seafood was overcooked.

probably won't go back here just on the principal that they did not honor our reservation.
