Paul K has hit this on the head. Â Texas Roadhouse is the only chain restaurant I will go to........ the one near me is great. Â This one is shit. Â The service is fine, the cooks are inept. Â I ordered a 22oz cowboy bone in rib eye medium rare. Â It was raw. Â Might as well have been mooing. Â The loaded sweet potato was hard. Â Seriously. Â WTF.
Others in our party were similar. Â They removed my meal from the bill. Â I did not want anything else from there.
Severely disappointed.
I have been to many Texas Roadhouses before, notably the ones in Richmond, IN and Champaign, IL. Unfortunately, this particular Texas Roadhouse has always left me disappointed, and I feel that this Texas Roadhouse is inferior to other restaurants of this chain.
The service and atmosphere are pretty typical for a Texas Roadhouse. The servers are friendly, and although the restaurant is noisy, it is not so noisy that you cannot hear yourself think. The menu is typical for others in this chain, with the standard fare of steaks, burgers, pork chops, etc., for reasonable prices.
My biggest issue with this particular Texas Roadhouse is their seeming inability to cook a steak to the proper temperature. Many times I have gone in and asked for a NY Strip cooked Medium Rare. However, the steak comes to the table Rare almost without fail. This relationship is true with other temperatures as well; if I want a Medium Rare steak, I have to order it Medium. I shudder to think about what would happen if I were to order a steak Well Done.
In summation, although you will get a good meal here, the execution of that meal is somewhat lacking. For a place that prides itself on its steaks, I would expect that their steaks would be cooked properly.
One of the only chain restaurants that we will go to - steaks are excellent and service is always good - Alex (girl) is a superior waitress and I highly recommend asking for her! Busy but the sweet rolls and cinnamon butter keep coming to keep you from starving or being bored - and you have to love the peanuts!
Had Mom's 83rd birthday there this week - filet was melt in your mouth soft, ribs were huge and very meaty, salmon was cooked perfectly and had a nice flavor - have never had anything less than an excellent meal there but my favorite is the prime rib with fresh horseradish - YUM!
We went on a Friday evening. Arrived around 7:35. Tried to call ahead, but too many rules. Waited 30 minutes (not unreasonable) to be seated. Appetizer was delivered by some guy - well before drinks arrived. 45 minutes after ordering - no food. Some guy (not our waitress) came and told us there was a problem with my girlfriend's order (a filet salad). We told them to forget it and just bring my order and an extra plate. My sirloin tips had obviously been done for a long time - cold and tough (worst tasting beef I've had in a long long time). Mashed potatoes - cold as well. Green beans - hot and tasty. Waitress wondered by asked why my girlfriend didn't have her salad. They charged us for all the food we ordered, but took off the filet salad. Didn't bother to comp us for drinks or appetizer. Won't be back anytime soon and definitely won't bother trying it on a Friday or Saturday night EVER. I used to like Texas Roadhouse. But this kind of thing (inattentive service, no discount to compensate for the wasted two hours) just ruins it for me. Still angry the next day.
