service is a bit slow. was seated in the far far far back, which was real warm! Â was begging for air by the time we got out.
build your own burger, or classic burgers available.
their spiked milkshake... the irish something, totally forgot the name was really good. their cherries are SOAKED in alcohol. good or bad thing, depending if that's what you like.
Truffle fries were good.
It was good; not awesome, not wonderful, or not OMG I want to shove my face in this plate and eat like a starving pig from a trough, but just good. I had a good burger and the house-fried chips were good (actually ordered the German potato salad but got chips instead - based on other reviews, that's common). I don't recommend the truffle chips. They taste too much like cheap truffle oil and the Parmesan is kinda like fine wood shavings from a lumber store floor. The plain ol' ones are awesome though!
But the best (like other reviewers) is the "adultescent" milkshakes. Highly recommend the Gorilla - vodka whipped cream with banana and chocolate and yes, SPRINKLES!
This is good for Pensacola. Â Good drinks for cheap, build your own burger with TONS of options. Â Meats, cheeses, buns, CRAB CAKE...seriously, tons of options. Â I went early on a weekday so the place was empty. Â Waiter wasn't too great but I'm sure if I was trashed I wouldn't care. Â Seeing as the bar sells smokes, lighters, and 5 hour energy, this is a place to sober up, they just happen to open early.
Review Source:Overall, a very disappointing first visit.
1st gripe is about the service. 3 of us did a "make your own burger", and I swear they screwed up two of our orders. Although I didn't mention anything to the nice waitress, I'm convinced that our meats and cheeses were wrong. I ordered bison medium, and my friend ordered angus medium rare. Well mine came out med rare and his medium, but we didn't really notice this until half way through our burger. The meat could very well have been right, just the amount cooked was wrong. Also, I ordered Brie and I'm pretty sure I got goat cheese. Not a big deal in my mind since the burger was still delicious. But when you pay over $11 for a burger, there is a higher level of expectation when it comes to the quality and correctness of your order. But like I said, it tasted good and so I didn't say anything.
2nd gripe is about the bar. Call me crazy, but when you order a beer on tap, you expect to get a pint of beer. Maybe that's just what I'm used to and it depends on different bars. But I would like to inform everyone that the beers they serve on tap are only 12oz and not 16oz pints. Yes...12oz! Not 14oz. And definitely not 16oz. I couldn't believe this since I ordered Guinness. When I order a Guinness (especially on St. Patty's Day), I better be getting a pint of that liquid goodness! I know this because I ordered a 12oz can of their beer of the month as my second drink and poured it into the same glass my Guinness was in (that's another pet peeve of mine...I believe I should get a fresh glass for a new/different beer that I order, or at least be offered it). And wouldn't you know, the 12oz can filled the glass up to the rim.
Since I gave you the negatives, I'll end with a few positives. The burger was really tasty, the beer selection was great, and the live music was good. All in all, I'm willing to give this place another go since I believe they can do better. Just don't screw up my order again please.
i feel bad bc i went with all the reviews for the longest time, this place is amazing. the service is on point, fast, and friendly. the choices they have for your burger are plentyful. i like to keep it simple some brie and bacon on a nice bun, medium rare.. IT WAS PERFECT. Â the selection of beer is amazing, all cans and a nice selection on draft. i know know that i cant judge a book by other reviews, please give this place a chance, worth it 100%
Review Source:Reading through some of the previous reviews, I really wasn't sure what to expect. But, my friends insisted that I try, so the next time I was downtown my roommate and I gave it a shot. Â We were there on a weekend afternoon, and the place was PACKED. Â We found a table we liked anyway, with no wait. Â The server was there promptly, given the crowd and large numbers of "big-tops". Â I have to say that if you are looking for your average sedate, 1950's throwback burger joint or maybe a steakhouse atmosphere, you're going to be disappointed. Â The Tin Cow is loud and crowded. There are spiked milkshakes, and the bar is pretty prominent. Â It does take a little while for your order to come out, but we weren't disappointed. Â The burgers were cooked exactly as we requested, and the toppings were of good quality (though I wouldn't recommend the Brie--definitely NOT what I was expecting). Â The Brie Dip at Hopjacks (owned by the same people) is still my favorite downtown food, but this is the best burger in town.
Review Source:I had a great experience and definitely plan on heading back again. The ordering process is unique, and allows you to put our own personal flare to you burger. I really loved the concept. Service was great, the waitress was attentive and informative.
Oh, and the beer selection is excellent. Dale's Pale Ale is my poison of choice.
Not cooked to order, absolute NO TASTE to the "angus" beef ( I mean, like cardboard!), no seasonings and med rare means well done.
Bacon fused fries were from yesterday's leftovers and not edible..
Tea went back...tasted like boiled tea bags with no water added
Way too noisy atmosphere.
Will never return nor recommend.
My husband and I have heard about this place for months, but we hadn't made a trip to downtown Pensacola during a meal time. Last night, we finally got to try it out for dinner, and we were both impressed!
The menu is large, and there are endless combinations. I had the 1/2 pound angus burger with bacon, jalapeño jack spread, lettuce, fresh jalapeños, and sautéed onions, with the pesto Parmesan aioli (which I want to put on everything I eat from now on), and it was incredible, to say the least. I chose the bacon infused homemade potato chips as my side (other options were French fries, coleslaw, and potato salad), and I don't think I've ever had a better fried carbohydrate side dish.
If I weren't pregnant, the spiked milkshakes would have been a must. With flavors like Pecan Pie, Red Velvet Cake, and Cinnamon Toast, I've already decide that this will be one of my first dinners out after I give birth.
All in all, the Tin Cow is a must try in downtown Pensacola. It's great for a low key dinner, and the prices are awesome. Tip included, a meal for 2 was under $25, and we both left full and happy.
I think there were a few glitches at first and I think they are worked out. I find the servers to be nice. Sarah and the waiter that also works at Lowes, both really nice and go the extra mile. The milk shakes are yummy, and who isn't down with a fried egg on their burger. Tonight went with a friend, just really wanted an adult coffee, Sarah and the bartender went out of their way to provide :). Reminds me of the Burger Bar in Vegas, just not as fancy.
Review Source:Great in theory horrible in execution. Every time i order it usually takes twice as long as they say when i call in an order if not longer. All they do is burgers, some salads and pretty tasty potato chips(when actually warm), yet after the extended wait the food somehow comes out cold most of the time. The option for custom burgers is great if it was actually made how ordered. I keep going for the same reason i play the lottery hopefully one day i will win and get a great meal, that and the fact it is one of 4 food places open at night everyone else is only open weekend nights .:-{
Review Source:Pretty good. Fun to build your own burger and every thing I've had there tasted good. The biggest problem is that they haven't cooked my burger to order any of the three times we've eaten there. Â If the only thing you serve is burgers it's pretty critical to cook them to order.
I will say that the Parmesan Truffle Fries are yummy. Â Although, it's kind of funny how they say it's a "full" order when there's no option for a half order. Â If you do decide to order them make sure you've got a few hungry friends with you. It's a huge order.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the time it took to get one meal (probably 15 minutes) and the size of the shake (red solo cup size). Â I can see where the bad reviews came from but I was very satisfied. Â They could take this whole place to 5 stars with a little service training.
Review Source:Somehow this place got a bad rap but I am here to set the record strait. Â They have about a zillion beers from all over (all in cans). Â There burgers are incredible. Â I pay the extra for Kobe beef and I recommend the jalapeno cheese spread. Â They also have live music pretty often. Â It very well may be the best burgers I have had.
Review Source:Horrible service.
When we arrived, perhaps 4 tables were occupied at this restaurant. We waited about 20 minutes for menus. Making conversation to pass the time wasn't a problem because the place was completely empty so we had no trouble hearing each other. When we finally got our menus the waitress took our drink orders, she got mine wrong the first, second and third time I gave it to her. Awesome.
The food was alright, we received about half of what we ordered and had to ask for the rest of it. Luckily, we only saw our waitress about once every half hour so we had plenty of time to sort out what was missing. Part way through this traipsing meal, another waiter appeared and stated that he was taking over our service. I'm not sure how effective he was because we did not see him again. I had to ask the waitress to come back. After a meal whose pace reminded me of trench warfare - long periods of boredom punctuated by moments of feverish gorging - we asked for our bill 4 times and left.
Went here on a double date with my wife and some friends. It is a neat play on the name as almost every single beer they serve comes in a can as opposed to draft or bottle. I like most any place I can get PBR tallboys! I did a build my own burger and it was really great. I would say it is on par with five guys burgers, they are that good. The french fries are really good too, but I would have liked more with my meal than what I got. Overall, this place is awesome and I would recommend it to everyone.
Review Source:Burger - 5 Stars  ***** I rate them as one of the best - I had the Kobi (Wagyu) Hamburger and it was perfectly cooked and am amazing taste.  Their Bacon infused chips were great but sitting next to the burger made them wilt and many were limp.
Service - We went for lunch and were served between 1300-1400 and there were only three wait staff. Slow going and one of our orders was not filled as ordered.
Drinks: Â Great selection if you like canned beer, no Dos Equis Dark and limited on tap beers.
Overall though a 3 - while not really busy it took awhile to get things - I think the Cow needs more wait staff.
Show up at 430 pm if you want to get served by 7!! Â Only thing I enjoyed was The music, especially the dude on the slide guitar.
Started off with ordering the Parm french fries  and they were just okay. Honestly I was disappointed.  I expected piping hot fries and they were warm and slightly soggy.
Took 10 minutes to get a refill on my sweet tea!! I mean if your going to make me wait a lifetime for food at least keep my drink glass full.
750 PM Â Put my food order in.
820 PM Â Still no burgers, its been 30 minutes and the place is slow. Why the wait?
827 .. Manager came out and said, "We have no mushrooms, would you like to take them off or wait 7-10 more minutes..." ... really?
830 PM Finally the food arrives. Â To be completely honest my burger was not horrible. Â It was actually tasty, but they may have been because I was starving. And it definitely was not a 1/2 pound by the time i received it. Â I ordered it medium and it came out as such but it definitely was not worth waiting 40 minutes for.
My friends were not so fortunate. Â One of them ordered their burger mid-rare and got it well and another ordered it Mid-well and got a burnt burger. My friends got sauteed mushrooms... they came out white and cold. The manager said they ran out and had to "Flash saute" them. Â In my experience sauteed onions should always be cooked to order so I am not sure what she was talking about.
After all the mess ups, slow service and sub-standard food the manager offered to give everyone at the table free shots because of the poor service. While I understand most mid-20's aged people would take a shine to this I found it insulting that they thought throwing shots our way would make everything all better. Now that I think about it, maybe that's where the good reviews come from....drunk individuals.
One of my friends decided to go outside and get the burger made from the cook outside on the grill who at the time we did not know actually worked for the restaurant. Â He said that burger was amazing. Â And the manager gave him it on the house when he tried to pay. Â The rest of us were given a 25 % off for what was labeled as "late order" and the gratuity was removed.
One last thing, I read the review about the manager getting defensive and rude. We had the same thing  happen,  even as she was trying to "fix" us.
Overall I was extremely disappointed. Â I was explained that they are hit or miss, I may try and come back another time and see how it goes, but it definitely will not be on a night I plan on trying to enjoy. Â As for now I would not recommend this place to anyone. Â
To the restaurant, if you are delivering crappy service, the food needs to be way better. Â And when you are, to be frank, "sucking"; offering free shots and a 25% discount doesn't make up for a horrible experience. Â If you wanted us to give it a second try our entire check should have been comped. Â At least then we would not have the sour tastes in our mouth of paying for that awful experience.
The food: you fill out an order form (sort of like ordering sushi) and you get a burger made to order. Â Be warned: they will cook it much rarer than you indicate.
The beer: excellent selection of canned craft beer and a few well-chosen draft taps. Â No problems here.
The service: I sat at the bar and had fast, courteous and accurate service.
The ambiance: I liked the decor and the overall vibe of the place.
I am a fan and will be back.
I will have to revise this review if I ever go back for a burger. I stopped here before a Wahoos game for a light dinner. I ordered the chili and a side salad. The salad consisted of about 5-6 small pieces of romaine lettuce with a drizzle of dressing. The chili was tasty, but nothing over the top. I loved the selection of canned beer. I thought that was awesome. My Abita Purple Haze did not disappoint. Looking forward to trying their burgers one day. Oh, and the restaurant is very nice inside. They did a great job with the decor, the rooms are spacious, and the seating is comfortable. Overall, a nice addition to downtown Pensacola. Unlike other "Yelpers," we didn't have any issues with the service. Our waitress was great.
Review Source:While the outside drew me in with their unique name, simple logo and great music, I was bummed out when we actually started ordering. The server, while prompt with our service, was horrible at remembering which glass of wine was for whom. She had to smell our wines to remember (Um, not the way I want to receive my wine, with your nose half way inside the glass)! My husband and I were excited by the ease at which we could order- checking off the list of items available.
We ordered the truffle fries to arrive with our meal but they arrives about 15 minutes early and were only luke-warm. The burgers arrived and were less than stellar, even though they seemed  flawless upon order.
One very noticeable difference was the wine... Only a few to choose from with each pour a different amount! My husband and I ordered 3 glasses with each one arriving at a noticeably varying amount! I am a wine enthusiast, so I expect perfection!
The cool part is the milkshake menu, my husband was able to order the KeyLimePie (spiked) milkshake... He enjoyed it!
Overall, I'd give this place. 2.5 of 5... They've only been open a month or so and need time to develop, but there's potential! The live music was my favorite part about the restaurant's features. I wouldn't go back (as I don't live in the area) but I hope this place keeps elevating in the restaurant world! They really do have a prime spot with a stellar concept!
True to my word, I returned to the scene of my lunchtime dine for dinner at the Tin Cow to give them a chance for atonement. Â The Cow had a pretty decent crowd including several people at the bar which is where I headed. Â Same server as last time and she's good. Â Started with a local amber brew, very good but a pricey $5, still I would rather pay that than drink from a can. Â I go with the grilled chicken on Texas toast with standard toppings and the aioli. Â I roll right on by the Bleu Balls and get a Kobe slider. Â It came out in short order and was the biggest slider I've ever seen, but it was spot on. Â The beef was cooked perfectly, no black char and a cool center, nor was it greasy and it was topped with pickles and onions but it didn't come with any condiments. Â My server took care of that as her last task before clocking out. Â 7 seems an odd time to have a shift change, anyway. Â After she left service fell off but, in all fairness, the crowd was picking up and the server also had some hightops which I consider unfair to everyone, server and patrons. Â Keep the bartender behind the bar! Also, this bartender would take a fresh pint glass from the just stacked clean ones and pour the beer. Â I like having a clean glass but do not pour COLD beer into a HOT glass! Â I guess the glass on the bottom will go through it's entire life without a pour! Â Another draft later the sandwich arrives and it's good. Â Chicken cooked through with a slightly blackened seasoning taste which went well with the aioli. Â Toast was fresh and grilled. Â Even the chips were an improvement: Â not stuck together and cooked evenly. Â All in all, food was deserving of a solid four, service not quite as good but adequate. Â
As a footnote to the service, there was a hightop of several behind me and I could tell from snippets of their conversation that they were less than satisfied with the service. Â Seems like the Cow would assign a server (of which there appeared to be plenty) rather than have the bartender do this.
We headed here before a Wahoos game on a Thursday. I can see the place has some bad reviews, and I've only been here once, but overall I don't have much bad to say.
We were seated right away.
The place specialty is burgers and they had plenty of options.
Huge drink menu- they have cute specialty milkshakes and a full stocked bar.
The location is in the heart of downtown so lots of atmosphere.
My burger was cooked medium, just the way I like it.
Our server was very attentive and we got in and out quick enough to make the game in time.
Overall my tips would be:
*The build a burger is their claim to fame, so if you're not in the mood to make decisions, this isn't the place for you.
*The menu says burgers are made medium unless otherwise specified- do specify your temp if you're not a medium fan.
*Do try the fies, they're homemade.
*If you have a group, be sure someone orders a milkshake for table tasting.
*Most beers come in a can (the "tin" cow); order draft if you're not a can fan.
Place is a cool concept. I thought the burger was good while not the best burger I've ever had. The prices are also not too bad on their food. The atmosphere was pretty cool if you are looking for a night out. If your just out to get a burger, you should probably go somewhere else, but if you are also looking for the experience of dining out, this place is worth a try.
All the beers being in cans was a little weird. I'm not a fan of canned beer, but I guess it's their trademark.
This restaurant was a major disappointment. Initially things went well, we sat down and ordered, but  that is when everything went wrong. After we waited a half an hour with no drink refills, the wrong food came to the table. The waiter then brought our order tickets back to the table to double check what went wrong, and he brought out the wrong tickets. Slightly annoyed we asked to talk to the Manager. This proved to be foolish because she got very defensive, rude, and blamed everybody else in the restaurant for the mistake. But she said she would personally make sure we got our food, so we stayed and hoped things would improve. A half hour later my meal came out, and it was still incorrect. My boyfriend's food never came. I then asked to see what order was put in for him, and they had sent the wrong ticket back to the kitchen again. He never got any food and we decided to leave.
I did, however, get to try a bite of the Kobe beef patty, to my chagrin it was dry and overcooked. Needless to say, I nor anyone I care about will be dining at this establishment, not because they messed up everyone does that, but because the manager was horribly rude and the food was not all that good. How do you mess up Kobe beef?
One word: Disaster! Â
We had 8 people. Â It took 25 minutes to order drinks, and another 25 to order food. 2 and a half hours total for burgers and drinks. Â Not to mention they got 50% of the burger orders wrong. Â They also don't ask how you want the meat cooked. Â My wife's was raw mine was well done. Not worth going to when there are so many other options within walking distance. Â The owner also owns hop jacks, so hopefully they can get their act together soon or else they're doomed.
Had high hopes for this restaurant, but sadly it doesn't live up to the expectations. Truthfully, I've had much better fast food burgers.
1. Slow service. Â If you are going to make me wait while you type in my order from the order form, then why even have the order form in the first place? Â All it does is SLOW YOU DOWN.
2. Rude staff. Â Not ONE employee smiled the entire hour and a half we were there. Bartender acted as if we were bothering her by ordering.
3. DRY, OVERCOOKED burger. Â If you are going to do only burgers, they HAVE to be great. Â Was not asked a temperature (rare, mid-rare, well-done). Â Burger came out dry as a hockey puck and just a tough.
4. Extra toppings cost extra. Getting bacon and cheese adds $2 to an already $8 burger. Â SO IF I ORDER THEM, YOU BETTER PUT THEM ON THERE! Â I have over 6 toppings and/or sauces on my order form and my burger came out with one. Â I asked the waiter THREE TIMES to please bring me the other condiments (sauteed onions, the cheese, the lettuce, the bacon mayo) and he never did. Â By the end of the meal, he would not even make eye contact with us, and completely ignored us. I PAID EXTRA for bacon and cheese and never got the other 5 missing toppings I ordered. Â I ate the burger dry. VERY dry.
5. Small, thin patty for a "half-hound burger". Â Of course, this could be because it was so overcooked it lost all of it's weight in moisture and flavor.
6. Â The "bacon-infused" potato chips were burnt to a near crisp. Â Potato chips are not dark brown, nor do they taste like burnt toast. Â Yuck.
Tin Cow is new, so I'll give them another chance. Â But here's the gist. If you are going to photocopy a restaurant concept like the "Yeah! Burger" gourmet chain, then you have to do it well. Â And they didn't. Â Not even a little bit. Â
I'd suggest fixing the small, dry overcooked burger first. Â It was awful, guys. And iif a customer asks you THREE TIMES for the toppings you paid extra for, BRING IT TO THEM, DAMMIT! Â Don't just dodge the table for the rest of your shift.
Here's hoping they fix the issues and can make a decent burger. Â As for now, I'll stick to Seville Quarter for my downtown burgers. Â I'd suggest that the owners take the kitchen staff out to lunch at Seville, and order each of them the Foster Burger. THAT is a fantastic, JUICY, THICK, gorgeous burger... and it only costs $8-flat, and blows your little burger patty away. Â
Sorry to be brutal, but them's the facts, man. I honestly expected so much more knowing the Hopjack's guys were involved. Â You already run THREE powerhouse restaurants, so to put this up and call it your own gets you no excuses from me. I expected more from you, and I sure hope you did, too.
