RUBBERY RIPOFF. Â We stopped going to this Tony A's two years ago when we witnessed a cook picking up food which fell on the floor and using it on a pizza. That same week our neighbor witnessed them spraying Windex (over a pizza!!) to clean the display case glass. No more food from there we said. Well, now two years later we thought we'd give it another chance. We had a $2 Yelp coupon to further motivate us.
I go in to pick up the ordered pizza, show them the Yelp coupon on my phone, and they proceed to mark it as "used". They then wanted to charge me $1 more than the price quoted over the phone!! When challenged they said if I wanted to use the Yelp $2 coupon they couldn't apply the "Tuesday nite $3 discount". Â (So why did they invalidate the Yelp coupon?) UNBELIVABLE! Â So much for the value of the Yelp coupon. (I paid the "Tues night" price.)
Now for the worst part: The pizza was rubbery and undercooked. So, for my efforts at giving them a second chance I've been rewarded with incredibly unethical people serving poor quality food (and probably with the same unsanitary methods).
Next time I expect a banner over the shop: "WELCOME BACK SLOW LEARNER".
I tried this place on Saturday after reading rave reviews. Lots of people mentioned the buffalo chicken cheesesteak and how good it was, so as a huge buffalo-anything fan, I gave it a go. I was pretty disappointed. The sandwich wasn't that big-- I was still hungry afterwards. The lack of buffalo flavor really annoyed me. In my opinion, it was basically chopped up chicken with with cheese on it. If you like buffalo chicken and you order this sandwich, I would recommend getting extra sauce.
My boyfriend got the Italian Boli. It was kind of small and to me, tasted kind of funny. Almost like the dough was undercooked.
Not sure if I would go out of my way to try Tony Roni's again.
Giving 5 stars for pizza is tricky.
There are a lot of good pizza places, but not many great ones. For what it is, a strip mall eatery, Tony Roni's is truly excellent.
Whether you get traditional pizza, tomato pie or a sandwich, you can't go wrong.
My fav thing to do is jam a few pieces of the free sample tomato pie in my mouth while I'm waiting to order. :D
Speaking of Tomato pie, theirs is much different from Corropolese. TRs is thinner and crispy-bottomed while Corropolese is more like a soft sicillian. Both are excellent, but the two are like apples and oranges.
For sandwiches, I've had great luck with the buffalo chicken cheese steak. Good stuff.
The staff is friendly and thankful for your business. Something that is oddly missing from most restaurants.
So if you're looking for a quick inexpensive lunch or dinner with no frills...Tony Roni's should fit the bill.
They definitely make a great tomato pie! I've only been here twice -- both times to get the "Sinatra" tomato pie for takeout -- and both times the pie was terrific and the ladies and gents working behind the counter very friendly. Prices are great as well, so, they nail the takeout trifecta. Recommended.
Review Source:My favorite local pizza spot.
The pizza is great (of course - it would not be a top spot with average pizza) but the the other items on the menu are really good too. Â My favorite is the White Pizza.
For the non pizza options:
Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak - Really good
Fries - Excellent
Hoagies - Take your pick
Definitely a must visit spot in Spring House!
great place to grab a quick bite for lunch. i stop in every two weeks and usually get a slice or two. buffalo chicken, taco, sausage-bacon-pepperoni, and tomato pie are my usuals, all of which are very good; well cooked, great mix of flavors, and very tasty.
their hoagies (hot and cold) are also very good. i've only had the italian, beef cheesesteak, chix parm, and meatball parm and from those (imo) you can tell a lot from a restaurant. the roll makes the sandwich better; hard italian bread full of flavor.
as far as side orders go, the wings are saucy (if you like that style) and the fries are banging (tastes fresh-cut as opposed to frozen potato-flavored sticks).
great lunch specials for the amount of food and price
I'm not crazy about Tony A's but apparently the rest of the Gwynedd Valley is, it gets packed here on a Friday night. I've gone here numerous times on my lunch break at work and  found the food to be alright, not out of this world, but good enough. If you go at lunch, I recommend getting one of their specials cause they can be a bit pricey for a pizza joint otherwise.
