I've been to the Mokena location a few times before, but last week I finally made it to the Tinley location.

I would add another star and probably frequent the restaurant more if they had some healthier food items, but overall I really like Tribes. I did see that they added a grilled vegetable sandwich that I was going to order, but they weren't serving it yet when we were there.

I love the extensive beer list and I love that there are plenty of choices for those who don't love super hoppy beers (me!).

My friend and I shared the Mexi-Cali poutine (poutine! even if it's not good I'm going to love it. And this one was good.) and the spinach artichoke flatbread for dinner. Both were very nice sizes - good for sharing. We polished off the flatbread, but still had a lot of poutine left over by the time we were full. (I know, I know, I go on about healthier items and then order the poutine and flatbread, but I figured if there wasn't anything really that healthy then I'd get something I knew I'd enjoy. Plus I shared it! Don't judge.)

If the food is anything like the Mokena location, I know there is plenty good here when I want a calorie splurge. When that time comes, Tribes will be at the top of my list (and I may not share that poutine)!

Beer could have been colder. My steak was over cooked (ordered med rare. served med-med well) The mushrooms were advertised as garlicky couldn't taste any garlic.  We placed our food order at 6:00 the soup and salad came quickly then waited until 6:40 to receive entrees. Noticed the chef hanging around the bar a lot. He probably should be In the kitchen managing the quality and production of food. Also I noticed another manager looking like he wasn't doing to much. Our waitress was nice and very patient and helpful. The beer list is awesome. The ambience is relaxing and fun. I just think they need to pay a little more attention to detail in the kitchen.

This is my go to bar. Great rotating beer selection, awesome burgers, and comfortable atmosphere. You can actually talk to people there without having to try and talk over music or the game. The wait for a table is always less than they say and I personally don't mind it because I just get a beer at the bar. My sister LOVES the lobster rolls (not a seafood fan myself) The bison burger is a can't miss with me. This is the best place to go and watch a game with a few friends without the loud rowdiness that kept me out of bars for the last two years.

Kaboom.  They managed to clone Tribes.  Not only that, they genetically cherry picked the best qualities and left out the less attractive ones.  The food is just as good.  The beer selection is just as massive.  The real kicker is the amount of room.  I came here on a Thursday evening around 8 and didn't have to wait for a table.  You heard me, I went to tribes and didn't have to wait and wasn't crammed into a small corner with 20 other people.  This place is huge(by comparison).  Plenty of seating and room for your elbows too.

The only down side I had was that our waitress was garbage.  The waitress from the table next to us was more attentive than our assigned waitress.  I even watched her to see if maybe she got a giant section and was just overwhelmed.  She wasn't.  She had 4 tables including us.  But I had to flag her down every time we needed a beer.  And we were positioned in a spot that she had to walk past to get from her tables to the bar and all the server stuff.  How can you ignore a table that you constantly walk past?  Unfortunately I can't with 100% accuracy remember her name or the name of the great waitress that wasn't ours.  If I figure it out on my next visit I'll update the review.

Bad service and super salty food. Our waitress told us the kids meal would not come with vegetables when we asked for green beans with it. It's printed on the menu though, so she checks, then says ok you can have the green beans. Food arrives with wrong bread and no grean beans, only celery, which has no nutritional value and our kid won't eat. I asked why she didn't inform her customer of changing the vegetable, she replied, well the kitchen said you could only have celery and I didn't think to tell you.

Also if you want to sub mashed potatoes for french fries it's an extra $4 !!

If this place didn't have great beer it would go the way of Harrissons.

Mokena location is better for sure.

We went there for lunch, crowd seemed average. I ordered a basic cheeseburger medium with fruit. What I got was a well well done + burger with fries. Our waitress was polite but only came by once every fifteen minutes or so. When I showed her the order she agreed with me and said I should have told her sooner. Well that'd be fine if she ever came around.   Only compliment here was the beer. Total price 4 beers, 1 appetizer, and 2 burgers: $67.00.    If you want a good burger go to Meatheads in Frankfort instead. We won't be doing Tribes in Tinley Park any time soon.

Off night...I went here this weekend and was disappointed for the first time.  They were out of a couple different beers we asked for, one being a beer that was just tapped.  A knowledgeable, good bartender would have apologized for the incovenience and made a replacement recommendation of something that was in stock but he could have cared less.  We ordered other drinks and all subsequent drinks were upon waiting and flagging the bartender down as he never actually ever asked us if we needed anything else.  I would have ordered food, but I didn't want to inconvenience him any further.  I still like this place in general, but we like to go out and are good tippers and when service starts to slide...there are other places to go and spend money. We may try again in future, if so I will re-update.

Pretty good draft list. The sandwiches are all good. The crab cake appetizer was not good at all. One side was burnt and the whole thing was oily. Pass on the crab cakes.

If you're coming on the weekend, expect a long wait. I suggest appetizers & drinks, the entrees are lacking.

And do not leave without trying the POUTINE. I've been to Quebec before, so i guess i have some kind of credibility in this area. My wife and I have tried the poutine at some of the fancier places downtown (Paris Club, The Boarding House), and they just don't compare. Tribes has the best I've tried in Chicago.

I am very disappointed to have to update my review to reflect my recent visits to Tribes in Tinley Park.  This review focuses mainly on my food experiences; the beer list is still lovingly curated and carefully constructed.

I ordered the Mac & Cheese, and the sauce was watery and just "off."  The pancetta, which had previously wowed me in this dish, was over-cooked and hard.  Highly disappointing when I expected the delicious, carefully-prepared dish that I experienced on my first visit.  On another visit, I ordered a bowl of French Onion soup, which again, I'd previously had and been impressed with.  This bowl was incredibly, unbearably salty...so much so that I asked the waitress for a substitute soup.  She brought out a little ramekin of a beef soup for me to taste, and that was just as salty as the French Onion soup!  Awful!

I feel compelled to share this review in the hopes that the owners will see it and hopefully spend a little more time on their food menu to bring the restaurant back up to a five-star rating for me.

I decided to check this place out a few months ago. The first time I made the mistake of trying to go on a Saturday night; I'm sorry, but I'm not waiting 90 minutes for a seat at a bar. (Can't fault a place for being popular, though!) Figured it would be less busy for Friday happy hour, and I was right.

The plus is the HUGE beer menu. I'll admit it was a bit overwhelming, though. However, they allow you to make your own customized beer sampler of I think 5 or 6 beers; with all of the options of the menu, it's a great way to try things, and you don't get stuck with a full-sized beer of something you don't like. It was fun to try all the different selections.

There were some interesting options on menu, more creative than your typical bar food. A bit on the pricey side though. I played it safe and ordered a hamburger, which was standard, nothing to write home about. One plus is the option of tater tots instead of fries.

This wouldn't be my top choice for a dinner spot but would be fun to return again for a night of sampling beers with friends. Maybe I'd try one of the more unconventional items on the menu next time. Something different compared to all the chain places lining LaGrange.

I've been coming here since the day this place opened and I've ever been disappointed.  The beer AND whiskey/scotch/bourbon list is awesome!  (Blanton's is hard to find and my fave)
The selection of beers is ALWAYS changing and I'm lucky enough to know a bartender there so he usually gives my boyfriend and I something great without us even having to ask.
I love the menu~It's eclectic and hip....BUT even better that the portions are gigantic.  I love knowing I'll get my money's worth and soak up all the booze I'll be drinking.  Don't be fooled by the exotic menu items....this food isn't foo-foo and can appeal to every palate. I love the meat and cheese plate, the hummus, and the Belgian mussels!
The first time we came here the service was so-so (but not bad by any means). Ever since we have had fantastic waitresses ever since. Every. Single. Time. A few weeks ago we even came as the kitchen as closing and our waitress hustled to get out order, didn't rush us one bit, and was sweet and pleasant.  Great place.

Nice selection of draft beer. Food was very good. Expect to wait at least 45 minutes on Friday or Saturday after 4:30-5:00P.M. I will definitely return.

As much as I'd like to give this place a 4 star rating like the other folks did, my experience fell short of ya'all.  If I return and have a better experience, I will re-rate this place.

Met a friend for an appetizer and beer.  The staff was friendly, clean place, decent atmosphere.  I asked our waitress her opinion of a few beers.  She gave me what I thought, was an honest answer.  Nope! Pulled the answer right out  her ass.  Lead me down the wrong path of beer destruction.  I would have much rather had her say, I haven't tried that beer yet but let me ask the bartender.  I would have much rather waited the extra 10 minutes or better yet, have her say, "Let me get you a sample of that".  Nope, served me a shitty beer AND made me pay for it even though I didn't drink it.  I had to switch to wine.  No biggie.  I can afford $5.

The appetizer, Spinach and Goat Cheese dip was.......indescribable.  I swear the cook mixed his aftershave in the dip.  It had a very distinct taste of cheap cologne.  Now mind you, my taste buds could have been wrecked from that shitty beer.

The decor reminds me of an old Bennigans.  A little too commercial for me but I'm willing to try this place again but hold the aftershave.  Thank you.

If you like a huge variety of craft beers from some of the best brewers in the world then this is your place.  The wall of tap handles shows off what's currently on tap and continues around the corner of a large L shaped bar.  The easier way is to grab a large beer list where the beers are broken down by type with description, pour size & price.  The menu seems to be inline with some of the better brew pubs.  The lobster sandwich for $15. is richly fantastic.  The burgers are big,  juicy & tasty.
They have a website that shows the latest tapping for the week as well as entertainment etc.  Although for some reason they only seem to have bands at their smaller Mokena location.  Come on Tribes, let's get some bands in Tinley.

Tonight (a Monday night) is the last night my brother-in-law will be in town so we decided to go out somewhere new. After my husband and I read reviews for Mokena's Tribe's and Tinley Park's Tribe's, we decided to come to this location just based on the fact that it's supposed to be larger and less claustrophobic.

    Service:
When we arrived, I became a little nervous. The hostess was not very friendly. She wasn't rude by any means, but maybe she has lots on her mind. We all have off days. Either way, do NOT let this turn you off this place, please!

Our waitress, Katie, was phenomenal! Katie was attentive, friendly and very prompt. The manager sticks out like a sore thumb (in a good way,) and appeared very approachable. We would have told him how wonderful this place is personally, but we didn't want to disturb him so we figured we would let them know here. ;)

    Food:
My brother-in-law and husband got the same exact order. A bison burger with mushrooms and swiss, well done with a side of french fries. The burger was cooked perfectly, though in my opinion a bit dry. However, with a burger being well done, I'm not sure how you can make it otherwise so we would definitely do medium-well next time.

I ordered the fish & chips. Now, pay attention. This is where it gets good!! My husband LOVES fish & chips and he said they are the best he has had anywhere after living literally all over the country. The fish has NO fishy after taste so I'm sure they get their fish from somewhere where they raise them. The tartar sauce was a little sweet, but I figured out quickly that a little goes a long way with their tartar sauce - especially since you aren't covering up anything! I ended up mostly eating the fish without anything except lemon, it was so delicious. Their side salad was so fresh - the shaved carrots and the radish were great and I'm picky with my radishes! The Italian dressing is the best I have ever tasted, by far.

I have to point out something huge in my mind - their fries! They are exactly like my husband's homemade fries. Delicious, perfectly seasoned. All around delicious!

    Atmosphere:
Tribe's is by no means pretentious like a lot of pubs I have visited. It's got a very comfortable atmosphere. Since it was Monday, they had live Bluegrass. I HATE Bluegrass, but it was perfectly comfortable and I was actually surprisingly fine with it. I sort of enjoyed it, honestly! Around 10:10 PM they turned on their normal music which was a little loud for my taste, but it's a pub so I really shouldn't complain. I am so comfortable with this place, I would be fine with stopping in for lunch during work.

    Price:
Our total for three was $38.80 with tax. We had 2 swiss/mushroom Bison burgers, 1 small fish & chips and we all had water. For the food and service, I'd say that's pretty reasonable. You truly get what you pay for here.

In summary, we cannot wait to go back! We're already making plans to try out their beers. I hate beer, but I figure if their beer is remotely as good as their food, they MUST have at least one beer I enjoy!!

I live near the Mokena location so I hadn't been to Tinley Park yet until recently. The menus seem pretty similar as the Mokena location, but luckily, this space is much larger and very attractive. Unfortunately, it's similarly loud as heck and hard to chat with friends over a beer.

And about the beer: I'm always glad to see a large beer menu and I think I've mentioned before that I am tired of seeing menus that are dominated by IPAs and pale ales that may as well be IPAs. (It's a trend among beer snobs and craft breweries that I hope goes away soon). Even the stouts/porters section is full of hops, like black IPAs. Ugh. There are definitely non-hoppy options at Tribes, thankfully, but many of them are too sweet (I ordered a Rogue Chocolate Stout, which tasted like someone poured Newcastle over cheesecake. Delicious, but not for 16 ounces). I like a malty, sessionable ale--is that too much to ask? (If I order a mistake or one that's tolerable but I don't want a second one, at least I know I can fall back on Robert the Bruce. Yes, there's at least ONE Three Floyds I can stand).

The food, like at the Mokena location, is tasty but expensive, of course. It's amazing how three people can order a couple beers apiece and share a couple apps but the bill is still almost $100.

All minor swipes considered, it's still a great place and so refreshing for the suburbs.

I have been in love with Tribes for a long time now. I knew they opened up a location in Tinley, but had no idea it was this large. I love the new location. The bar is huge and there are plenty of tables.

The food menu seems to be the same as the Mokena location, which is a good thing. I stopped before a dinner I was heading to, so I only ordered an appetizer. As always, I was pleased. I'm always excited that you have the option of Bison for the burgers! I've never been disappointed in a meal here.

Steven was our most recent bartender. All of the staff I have ever dealt with here has been wonderful, but Steven really takes the cake. He made wonderful suggestions for every taste. I can't even go into the beer list. They are constantly changing it with each week being better than the last. I could easily drink every single day away in here. I'm hoping the bigger location cuts the wait time down on busy days.

I'm a fan of the tribes in Mokena. I used to go often for a Bison Burger and a good hard cider or craft beer. I went to the new location once but we didn't try the food so much as we just had some drinks and an appetizer.

So I postponed my review till I had a chance to finally get a full meal here and indulge and try lots of things. My boyfriend and I came with 4 other people. Someone got the italian beef, Dan and I got our usual bison burgers, another person got the shrimp scampi (however that's spelled) and my friend Stephanie tried the 15 spice chicken.

I had a taste of the 15 spiced chicken and it was amazing. She absolutely loved it and tried my bison burger and loved that too. Nobody disliked their food and everyone was happy with their food and drinks. At the end, one of my friends said Thank You to me for telling them about Tribes (such good manners!).

Since we had 6 people, we did wait a little for our table but it was a holiday weekend so they were busy and it was worth the wait. Service was good, waitress got everyone's orders correct and was helpful in beer selection and making recommendations.

I love both locations though Tinley is larger and come accommodate bigger groups. I live near the TInley location and work near the Mokena location so I'll probably be found going to both still!

Some close friends of ours moved into Tinley Park, so we decided it was high time to continue the search for exception food in the burbs.  Yelpers rated Tribes high on the list, so we made our way here to check it out!  To preface this, my wife and I are back on strict paleo for six weeks to detox from the holidays, so we didn't partake in any breads/sugars, which may be some of their best items... in any case, here's the skinny:

Environment:  A gastropub like decor, with large selection of beers and surprisingly well spread selection of eats.  Friendly service, busy/loud even on a Thursday night, seems to be a go-to place for families and 20-30 year olds.

    Apps -
Garlic Shrimp Scampi:  This things were GIGANTIC.  I don't know if they use jumbo shrimp with all their apps, but these were literally three bites each shrimp.  Smooth garlic butter sauce, and a nice crusty bread to pair.  Pricey, but very tasty.

Lolli-lamp chops:  Personally, I thought these were overdone... Lamb chops are perfect at a nice medium rare, as you get the balanced tenderness and flavor of the lamb.  Since they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked, I'll assume that the three chops were meant to be served well done.  Pricey, and I"m not sure it's worth it.

Bison Burger, Peppered Pig style:  First off, very cool concept.  Pair your meat choice up with a preparation style.  Had the bison medium rare, and it was pretty much a medium.  Flavor was a little gamey, as expected of bison, and overall was enjoyable.  The bacon added nice flavor and crunch, but the pork belly really clashed with the flavor of the bison (two differnet gameyness flavors)...jalapeno cran apple chutney was very tasty!

Chopped garbage salad:  medium olive flavoring throughout the salad made this a winner for my wife, the olive fanatic.  Sizable amount of Romaine, with a good spread of veggies and some shrimp.  For $12, it makes sense that this should be a sizable salad, and it was!  Came with some garlic bread which we did not try.

Verdict:  It's a solid food joint with a lot of beer options for those that prefer local/microbrews, and the more interesting ones at that.  Yes, they have the standard Miller, but also plenty of other domestic and import producers that are far better.  While the price point is a bit high, especially for the appetizers, I'd go back once in a blue moon.

Note:  The carrot cake, poutines, and fish and chips caught my attention... which means when we have cheat meals again in 6 weeks, I may need to re-review this place for some of their non-Paleo options.

Saying "I'm in love" with this place is a serious understatement. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere.....I'm there!! There is absolutely no reason to not enjoy Tribes in Tinley Park, unless you're one of those weirdos that actually doesn't enjoy beer. (Whaat?! Yeah, there are people like that so beware folks!)

Be prepared for this place to be pretty busy whenever you pop in; as it's always been hoppin' when I visit. Although, I've never had to wait. (Maybe I'm just that fabulous, who knows) I'd recommend sitting at the bar- closer to the beer y'all! The service, regardless of where you pop a squat, is wonderful and speedy!

The mac & cheese is insane! Cheese, pasta, pancetta....need I say more?! Ugh, it's just so good so you have to order it, alrighty?? Ok, great. The pulled pork sandwich is quite large and delicious as well, however, after having the mac and cheese I can't see why I'd order anything else.

The beer list is the reason to come here. Hands down. Enough said. It's fabulous, it changes a bit each day, it's beer, it's delicious. Go now.

So like, I totally shouldn't even be writing this review because, Tribes is just sooo mainstream now. A new location? Suriously? Can nothing underground be sacred? I mean, I guess it's cool because the Mokena spot was totes getting way too crowded. I couldn't even blog in peace. So, just like my pants, some things just need more room.

Tribes #2! I was actually poop-myself excited to hear this was opening. With all the things I love about the Mokena location, you would think they could do no wrong hosting all the awesomeness at a bigger venue. Something just wasn't living up to the 5 stars though.

It has all the parts. The awesome beer list, similar menu, comfortable atmosphere... this alone- automatic 4 stars.
Normally when I go to Tribes, I have 3 or 4 beers sitting in queue excited to try. Here, it didn't seem like as though they had as unique of a selection. It took me a while to order and I ended up going with an old favorite. The staff definitely seemed uneducated and kind of unfriendly. Hopefully they can find some people soon who..smile.. or I can talk to about the beer. You ask a question harder than "what's on the menu?" expect a look of terror and/or a full minute of stuttering what they think is an answer. You end up just ordering it to put them out of their misery. There is a different clientele here too. People that don't appreciate how much of a gem this is in the south burbs. Still, not the typical "bro what do you mean there is no special on bud lite?" crowd. Somewhere in the middle. The food is still excellent and I crave their mac 'n cheese. A must try.

I understand they are new and getting their bearings. Hopefully they get better in time. It is still a first choice for me when going out close to home.

AS a recent transplant from the city, I miss the Alehouse vibe we had so many choices in the city. Out here in Suburban wasteland there is not so much. Then Tribes opened. Excellent beer list , duh. And if you don't know this here is a hint, when it comes to great beer and wine, it is often ordered in limited amounts, so you may not get what you orginally wanted. Just ask the server or bartender they can tell you something else you may not have ever thought you would like. New experiences make the world go round.
Food was excellent, server was sweet and knowledgable. Loud enough noone minded a noisy toddler.
Mussels, fries, fish and chips, and onion soup were rad.

I'm soooo glad owner Niall Freyne finally opened up this second location of Tribes Alehouse! His original spot on Lincoln Highway in Mokena is one of our favorites but so jam-packed all the time that we haven't been there in a while. This larger location at LaGrange Road and 171st Street in Tinley Park is a little out of our way, but well worth it.

This place still features the best selection of craft beers on tap in the south suburban area (count 'em - over 45!). Because it's in Cook County, it also offers some selections that the Mokena location doesn't, like Revolution Brewing's Double Fist Double Pale Ale and Eugene Porter.

The menu changes periodically, but still includes the Lamb Lolli-Chops with rutabaga and garlic rosemary sauce (my favorite appetizer); seafood starters like crab cakes, scallops, clams, and mussels; a great variety of burgers (chicken, beef, turkey, and bison burgers are all available); steaks, and sandwiches (they've got a New England Lobster Roll that I'm dying to try). Nice crispy tator tots, too.

The décor is old-fashioned pub with lots of dark wood. They even have a driftwood table and chairs that look like they came from Niall's original place Galway Tribes, before the Village of Frankfort ran him out of business with high taxes.

We've only visited this place on weekdays when it's probably quieter, and have had no problem with service or food. Most of the waitresses there are personable, attentive, and super-knowledgeable about beer. If this new place is anything like the Mokena location, however, it probably gets packed on weekends, so keep that in mind. Since this is a new place, they're also probably still working out the kinks so if you get spotty service one night, make sure to let the manager know (they usually do their best to rectify any wrongs). And do try it again - it will be worth it!

Remember Brando saying "I coulda been a contender?" Sort of the same for Tribes Alehouse ... and the nice thing is they still can. Nice place for 20 and 30 somethings to linger over a beer in Tinley Park. Very nice ambiance, and the ladies will feel very comfortable here. Not really a place for little children, as it is basically an old-fashioned big saloon. Went with my own 20 something late Sunday ... extensive selection of beers. Even though a few weren't "pulling" that night, there still was a large enough selection that one could find something they had a taste for. The problem was the kitchen - or lack thereof.

We got there just before 10 pm (maybe two dozen customers inside) and soon found out the kitchen closes at 9 pm on Sundays. Don't know how long it stays open on the other days but - come on man ... you don't close the kitchen entirely. They could easily have left the kitchen open for a limited assortment of foods - a hamburger and something fried ... for drinkers to nosh over. Food also might help keep customers within their limits. I would understand a much reduced menu at that late hour, but no menu makes no sense. Now to the beer.

Great selection and very nice menu just for the beer, so you can have a little fun choosing and using. You can create your own beer sampler - $2 each for a 5 ounce taste ... $7 for an assortment of 4 tastes. Nice fresh taste to the ones I tried. I love a place that offers a sampler and this place can be a contender for best around if they get that kitchen open and stabilize the beer delivery. Since there was no food, we left after our beer and went down the road to a wide open D&B where we could eat a little. You want to compete with D&B, open that kitchen and give me another reason to linger. These guys get another chance - Follow up to come.

I haven't been to the Mokena location in at least 2 years so I don't have much of a basis to compare the two at this point.  However, unless they've expanded and changed the decor of the Mokena location drastically, the Tinley location is much large and less kitchcy.  On to the dining experience.

I arrived at noon on a Sunday so the place was basically empty so I can't speak for the during busy times.  Our waitress was very nice, very attentive, and did a good job, but I got the distinct impression she was super hungover from her Saturday night.  She still did a great job waiting on us - my friend and I hadn't seen each other in nearly 2 years so we spent a lot of time chatting and didn't order quickly, but she came back to check on us regularly - despite her eyes being half closed and being one step short of mumbling.

The beer list is stellar as expected.  I was extra excited to discover they had a cider I'd never had or even heard of before.

I ordered the buffalo burger because my friends that frequent the Mokena location seem to love it, and I can't pass up a good bison burger.  I went basic with just cheddar cheese on a pretzel roll and ordered tots as my side.  I LOVE tater tots, and my tots arrived hot, crispy, and delicious!  The burger was good too.  It wasn't super juicy, but it wasn't dry either.

I loved the Mokena location, but it was just a little too far from my house.  The Tinley location is close enough that I can see myself making frequent trips!

Pretty cools spot. Especially for a south suburban joint. The beer list is amazing and seems to rotate quickly.  This will probably be my new go to place when visiting the family.  Great atmosphere and great service.  The place was big enough that we were able to get a table pretty easily. I think that's a big plus!

My husband & I went on 11/24 around 3:30 so the place wasn't busy. We ordered craft beers, daily soup and entrees. Beers came promptly; entrees came and we had to remind our server that she never brought the soups--she apologized and went to get them. Had to rush to eat soup and entrees so neither one would get cold.Beer and food was good. Will go back again; hopefully, they'll have a Belgian tripel next time.
Now that it's cold, do not sit near door because you'll feel the cold everytime the door opens.

Finally got a chance to come in the other day for lunch. The food was good. Don't like that I have to pay extra for the pretzel bun now. I don't recall ever paying extra at the Mokena location. Server was very nice and outgoing. Couldn't help but notice almost everyone at the bar was drinking regular domestic beers. I guess the concept is new to the old regulars of the Charley Horse, but there is really no point to go to tribes if you are just going to sit at the bar and drink miller lite.

I have a mixed review for Tribes in Tinley today.

The good: I really like the menu. It's a nice change of pace from chains around the area, and a lot of thought and creativity went into it. The beer and wine list looks great, but I can't review it because I went with my kid. Which brings me to the kids menu. It's really cool. Sliders, mac and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, but all just a little elevated. I wish my kid had a sophisticated pallette, but he doesn't. Here though, they have things I was impressed with.

Food: We ordered burgers. You get your choice betwen chicken, turkey, beef and bison, which is nice. My husband the bbq pulled pork burger with cheddar on a pretzel roll. He loved it. I got the peppered pig, a burger with pork belly, applewood bacon, jalepeno apple chutney. I asked for it on a pretzel roll but got a regular roll instead. It was a good roll, but not a pretzel roll, but service will be reviewed next. I liked my burger, but just kind of liked it. On paper that burger sounds like a gluttonous pile of heaven. On the plate it all kind of tasted muddled. The pork belly was very thinly sliced and was white. All white. So it seemed like boiled bacon.

The chutney was nice, but the whole burger just seemed kind of sweet, and slightly bland. I put siraccha on it. I love that they have good old Rooster Sauce on the tables, by the way. I got a side of tater tots, and they give you 500 of them. They were delicious. But that's not really a hard thing to do. We ordered iced tea. I don't know what brand it is, or how they brew it, but it was damned near black, kind of thick, and strong as hell. That said, except for having only a couple of little ice cubes, it was really good. But I recommend a ton of ice with it.

The place was packed, and the servers were lovely, but slow, and slightly confused. It feels like they kind of have a handle on things but still seem a bit confused. That just might take time and I don't want to judge super harshly. But man I really wanted that pretzel roll!

I want to come back with friends and try the charcuterie, some appetizers, and definitely sample a lot of the mead. They have a couple of different and very interesting mead blends that I think would be fantastic on a cold winter's night.

In conclusion, I will give either location a try again, when I have a lot of time and with friends. I will hope that the service and the pork belly gets a little better by then.

First time ever going to any of the Tribes, so we chose the Tinley location.  We got there around 4:30 and it was pretty empty but it smelled delish in there.  The decor is nice, kinda beer-esque style, lol.  The beer menu was very extensive but they split the it into different categories (wheat, cider, seasonal, pale ale, etc.) I had an apple cider and my husband had a wheat style beer in the 9 oz glass, both were amazing!

We could not decide what to order so the waitress suggested to do the charcuterie and maybe another appetizer, it was a wonderful idea!  We had belgium-style mussels (white wine, celery, and thyme) and it came with warm, crusty bread.  If you are a fan of mussels, then this is pure heaven.  The charcuterie was an assortment of meats and cheeses and it had a glorious olive-y, gardinera-y, kinda salad.  Everything on that tray complemented one another and with a good beer, it was out of sight.

We are already planning our next visit, next time with the kids.  Maybe the burger, or the steak, or the sandwiches, etc...

Fyi..we were there until 6pm and it was packed!

I was here the day after opening, and I was excited to share the experience with 2 friends that had never tried Tribes before.  However, my excitement soon fizzled when I arrived to meet one friend who was there about 15 minutes before me and already received poor and very slow service at the bar.

We were then seated in the dining room area, and had a super friendly server.  The beer list is huge and the wine was 50% off this evening, so that made all of us happy.  Two of us ordered Buffalo Burgers and one ordered a salad.  The food probably took 30-45 minutes to arrived and nothing was completely accurate.  My burger was missing the sauce, the salad had little to no dressing and he other burger toppings were all wrong.  There was a manager walking by so we flagged him to share our issues.  That resulted in him taking all our plates and was having everything remade.  That wasn't necessary for 2 of these, so it was a bit of an overreaction.  We then waited another 20-30 minutes to get our order, exactly how we ordered it.

The food was great, but wow!!  They must be going thru some growing pains.  Service really needs to improve.  I've experienced their other location and I know the experience can be great, so I'll be back to give this a second change sometime in the future.

CliffNotes: Adventure outside the bison burger for a perfectly prepared steak.
    Mokena:
Smaller with the bar area as the main focus not the dining room.
    Tinley Park :
Larger same focus on craft beer with a better dining experience.

So the Tinley Park location has a completely different vibe compared to the Mokena alehouse. Both are great places to grab a tasty craft beer. However I prefer the Tinley location based on my visit last night.

The host staff greeted my group and I with a friendly smile. And the cute hostess sat us relatively close to the bar near the TVs for the Bull's game... Good start. The waitress we had wasn't as personable as compared to most of the staff at Mokena. She was a little quite and lacked the traditional beer geek Tribes wait staff experience from Mokena, but I'm sure that will come in time. The eating experience is what won me over though. The smaller Mokena is split up into two areas the bar and the dining room. You feel completely separated and the vibe is different inboth areas in a not so good way. Whereas Tinley has a larger open floor plan which isn't congested and has a great vibe. I had two double fists and the filet mignon for dinner. The filet was cooked perfectly and the sides of mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach were fantastic.  Both locations have a large selection of great craft beers and fantastic food. I simply feel Tinley Park focuses on both the drinking and eating experience compared to Mokena here the drinking is the star and the great food gets the backseat.

Went for the first time a few days ago and I liked it. The restaurant's atmosphere and decor is great and the food was pretty good.

I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was unlike any pulled pork sandwich I've had in the past. It had a smoker, almost tart taste to it that was delicious. There was't nearly enough bbq sauce on it but the waitress brought me some when I asked for it.

I didn't care for the fries (they were kinda like the sweet potato kind that look burnt) If I known that theyd' come out like that I would've ordered the tater tots.

The service was incredible too. Our waitress, Margaret, was fantastic! She served all 8 of us with a smile, was incredibly attentive and didn't have a problem accommodating any of our needs.

I don't get to the area very often but if I did I'd definitely go back to Tribes.

Our server was amazing, and the food was very good!!

For a long time, the south suburbs have been the step child of the city of Chicago, not offering exceptional restaurants and night life.  However, this place was really good, and I'm definitely going back.

I'm only giving a 4 star because though the service was great, the food exceptional, they didn't have 2 items on the menu that I wanted - I know you guys just opened, but if you don't have the selection, dont advertise it.  What's up with that?

I waivered between 1 and 2 stars for this review.....thinking they have potential to be 3-4 stars.    I know they just opened and are probably trying to get their shit together.  I will revisit this restaurant in a few months and re-rate, if necessary.

The plan was dinner with 2 friends.  I got their first and decided to sit at the bar and have a drink.   The bar was full, but there were a few random scattered seats - I grabbed one.  Bartender noticed me, and I asked to see a wine list.   10 minutes later - after he waited on everyone but me, wiped down the bar, talked to coworkers, and basically ignored me...even though I was staring daggers into him....he came back over and I asked again for a wine list...and he told me they don't have one.  I got up and went to the front manager and let him know about the poor service.    Manager said he would comp me a glass of wine, which I wasn't looking for.   I understand they just opened - but the bartender was able to wait on everyone else - the service was just rude.

I moved to a table in the bar area and had a great waitress.  My friends showed up and we moved to the dining room.

We all ordered soup. The French onion was good, salty, but good.  My friend said it had too many onions....is there such a thing?    Ahhh....now dinnner...that was another story.

I ordered the Black & Blue salad, and my two friends ordered Bison burgers.   The food came.   One burger was made wrong, one was missing the jalepeno chutney, and my salad was missing dressing.    The manager took the wrong burger back, and brought another even more wrong burger to the table.   The manager then took all the food away and said they will remake everything, and not charge us for the meals.

That is a nice gesture, but all I needed was some dressing.  All my friend needed was some chutney.  Granted, the burger was just wrong.

30 minutes later, I was ready to leave....and the food came out.   Everything was good, but after waiting so long - it was a let down.

Our waitress was adorable and great and will do very well there.  It wasn't her fault the kitchen couldn't make the food right.....or that the food took so long to come out.

I am assuming the food issues were due to being a new restaurant and they are working out their kinks.  This is why I will give the place another shot - in a few months.    The rude service by the bartender had nothing to do with being a new place.....it was just poor service.    I think this place has potential, espeically if you like microbrews.   Wednesday is 1/2 price wine night, so that was a bonus too.    Hopefully they turn things around.

Grand opening of the Tribes last night. It is THE most awesome place on the south side serving micro brews and good food.   It's a city quality place with exceptional ambiance of "good cheer" with good friends or making new ones.  Food is awesome with vegetarian choices.   Contrary to other comment check this place out. I'm confident you will return as a regular.

As of this review, Tribes Tinley isn't fully opened yet.  They have a limited menu for now, but plenty of beer, and last call can happen without warning.  I feel the owner is opening this place the right way, making sure there won't be any deviation from the successful business he's running in Mokena.  We sat at the bar and had the lager and cheese dip, always yummy, and a few nice beers.  This review will be edited after the grand opening.
