On a cross country road trip, we stopped in Terra Haute for dinner. Wanting to experience some "local flair", I liked the sound of Tumbleweed, so we went and gave it a try. Well....I think I enjoy the actual tumbleweeds on I-40 than most of this restaurant. I tried their habanero margarita because I wanted something spicy and different. It was about as spicy as a baked potato. Bad comparison, but you get the point. Although on the plus side, they have a  great margarita selection. The salmon wasn't half bad, but the chips and salsa were. Maybe I'm a snob since I've lived in California, and experienced better Tex Mex, but if you're in the Midwest craving it, On the Border may be your better bet.
Review Source:I hate when a restaurant  just doesn't live up to what it should be.  In my opinion, Tumbleweed is an example.  After this last trip, I am taking it off my list.
I like the atmosphere. Â The staff is almost always friendly and attentive, but I just don't feel like the food is worth the price. Â During our last trip it was painfully obvious that my fries had been reheated. Â I really have gotten better fries out of my microwave. Â My wife's re-fried beans were crusty on one side where they had been reheated or dried out under a heat lamp. Â To add insult to injury, the chips were stale. Â This food should NOT have been served.
They make good margaritas, but I don't plan on being back for anything else.  This is the third straight  disappointing stop.  I almost never write complaint emails to companies, but this is the second one they will get in as many trips.
Disappointing.
