Two Meatballs in the Kitchen is one of those reliable modernly-decorated restaurants that everyone can agree on. Â By that, I mean if you brought it up as a suggestion for dinner, everyone would be like "Yeah, that sounds good."
That's because it doesn't disappoint. Â Our dishes were large and tasty. Â The service was good. Â If I had to relate this place to something tourists would understand, the food is comparable to what you would get at Old Chicago.
Just beware that you don't want to get here later than 5:30 on a Friday or Saturday night, lest you wish to have a long wait for a table. Â
So, Two Meatballs......is a reliable choice.
We were visiting from Michigan and wanted to give this place a try. Now, I will tell you this; you cannot see it from the road at all because it's on the back side of a building. The only reason we knew where it was because our GPS told us so and from reading the reviews. Perhaps sometime in the future they can get a sign from the road to point people to where it is.
Anyway, we went on a Monday night. We were seated immediately but wow, so busy and extremely noisy. Our waitress took our drink orders and came back pretty quickly but forgot about us for a good 20 minutes. I understand it's busy but really? We place our orders and again takes quite a long time for our food to show up, even the bread. The reason I give this place 3 stars instead of 2 is because the food was pretty good. In all honesty, I wouldn't come back because of how busy it was, how noisy it was, and how long everything took to come out.
I just called to book a holiday party for a group of 10 people and was sincerely disappointed in the customer service. I called at 2:30 in the afternoon, a typically slow time for restaurants, and was immediately put on hold for nearly 4 minutes. Then, when I asked if they had a semi private or private room I was told there was a half wall by the bar and that area could hold 10 people.
However, when I asked for a photo (since there wasn't anything on their website), I was told no and that I'd have to go to the restaurant to see for myself. After explaining that I wouldn't be interested or able in doing so because I don't live nearby, I was put on hold for another 2 minutes and then told that was the only option. Come in or send someone else.
In the current slow economy I find this incredibly hard to believe. I was going to bring 10 people in to eat and have cocktails, but they couldn't take a picture and send it to me. I WILL NOT be frequenting this establishment and wonder how they can stay in business with such poor customer service.
Always up for trying a new place, we decided to give Two Meatballs a go.
Even though it was busy, we were seated immediately. I quickly noticed the couple next to us had full plates of food on their table, but weren't touching it. It took them SEVERAL minutes to flag down a waitress to complain about their cold food.
We ordered the White Supreme pizza ($19), which arrived in pretty quickly. The broccoli and tomato studded pie looked pretty tasty. However, with the first bite, we noticed that there was no garlic in the pizza at all! The menu said "fresh garlic" was on the Supreme version, but this was definitely not so. It took additional salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes to make this pizza palatable.
I've had a lot of white pizza. I even make it myself at home. I know what it should taste like. This wasn't it.
We each had a glass of their house sangria ($5), which was fruity and good.
No one checked back with us until we were done, and that was only to ask if we needed a box. Up until we received our pizza, the service was going well. It's almost as if they knew something was going to be wrong.
As large of a place as this restaurant is, the decor with the pulled curtains made us feel very enclosed. Nowhere can you see the outside world!
I might give Two Meatballs another go, but it won't be my first choice.
Hurricane Isaac chased from our vacation on capita island so we  ended up staying near the southwest airport For a night. We used yelp to check local restaurants. We chose to go to 2 meatballs and it was an excellent choice. Everything we had was excellent and plentiful.  Serves was top notch. If I end up in this area again I will be eating there again!
Review Source:What can I say?! Â This is one of best restaurants I have ever ate at. The food, service, quality and ambiance was perfect for the environment! Â Our server, Giacomo and his assistant, were a cut above any other wait staff I have ever encountered. Â The meatball appetizer and chicken parmigiana were awesome! Â Go here each and every time you are near this place!!!!
Review Source:We loved the Garlic Cheese Bread Knots before our meal. Â Service was excellent (our hard-to-please 17 year old son said it was the best service he has ever had). Â Portions were large (our 4 teenage boys had left-overs to eat later for dinner in the hotel) and pricing was average. Â I had the lunch special Tilapia with a Lemon Butter Wine sauce - and that was the best sauce I've ever had on fish (nice lemon tang to it, but also with a rich butter taste). Â Was a great stop for our family while on family vacation in Florida.
Review Source:Read some Yelp reviews and got a personal recommendation from a good friend and decided to have an early dinner here with girlfriends. We had a craving for Italian and this place filled the bill. A plus was  it was not a chain but family owned. Our server was Alaina and one of our party ordered the dish named after her. It had shrimp, pasta and a nice sauce. Chicken parmigiana was also ordered and it was a huge serving. Two huge pieces of chicken and pasta of your choice. I ordered a dish with pasta, fresh spinach and mushrooms in a light tomato creme sauce. I am not a big fan of the heavy creme sauces. . It was delicious. And as others have stated was enough for dinner the following evening. I also added a house salad with house dressing that was fresh and delicious for only $2.49 . We were there around 5:00 and were seated right away. I had a nice martini for $5 and the wines and beers were $1off till 6:30. It was just starting to fill up. We had a nice booth at the back.
Appetizer ordered first was the meatballs. They were gigantic and amazing. (If you got the word meatball in the name of your restaurant they had better be !)The garlic rolls came and were hot and the dipping sauce added to the taste. Our server also brought us more when we finished the first basket. All our meals were given thumbs up and we all agreed to return. As we left it was getting very crowded. The tables were filling up and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. We watched as the dishes came out and discussed what we would order when we returned. The evening ended with a nice Italian dessert that we all shared. There was four of us and our bill was very reasonable. Good food at a good price and lots of it. We left with full bellies and four containers with half our meals inside to be devoured at dinner the next day. There seem to be a great feeling among the customers eating in there and everyone was enjoying themselves. Â We took a menu home and will definitely be returning. A nice family restaurant that names its dishes after family members and takes pride in its presentation and taste is a plus in any city.
PS- And the name.....so creative! I just love it......
Went here for takeout--I was too late in the day for subs (only served until 4:00pm) so I ordered an app of meatballs and a pizza. As I waited I had plenty of time to watch the staff--they were excellent, juggling takeout calls and arriving parties of both the friendly and grumpy sorts (seriously, who responds to a friendly "Hello!" with a dour "Four for dinner"?) and still watching for the little things (like assisting a patron who seemed overwhelmed by carrying her takeout order). The meatballs and accompanying garlic rolls were great--the pizza was tasty if on the heavy side (I got the "meat lovers" pizza, so that part of the heavy was my choice, but knowing now that the crust was as substantial as it is I'd have chosen something lighter to top it.) Hoping to make it back for a sub before I head north again from my Spring Training visit!
Review Source:Went there for lunch with two clients. The place was loud. We sat near the bar where there were less people so we could hear each other.
First had to wait over 5 minutes for someone to take our drink orders. Â Then our waitess drops off some cold garlic rolls, and takes our order. Â Did not show up again for over 30 minutes. Â I had the steak and cheese sandwich. The meal was average and the service was poor.
Our waitress blamed it on a big group that was seated right before us, but one of my clients said he used to frequent the establishment and it was always busy during lunch, and he stopped going because of the slow service.
We only saw our waitress 3 times in the span of an hour. Not her fault... They are short in staff do I still tipped her well, but no one should ever have to wait 20 minutes to get a refill on a drink, be asked if the meal was ok or not.
My first time here. Was not impressed and will not be coming back any time soon. Too many other great restaurants just 5 minutes from this one.
Excellent food and the service was great. I had the spaghetti bolognese and my wife had the wild mushroom ravioli. Too much to finish and brought home for another meal. Very friendly wait staff as well as bar keeper. A little on the noisy side but that it is to be expected given that the place was full!
Will definitely return.
Went to Two Meatballs in a kitchen with a group of friends. Â Thought this would be a good place to try out. Â I am glad I went. Â The food was excellent and the wait staff was very attentive. Â I took with me a group of 80 year olds and they are a tough crowd to please. Â The entire crowd was happy with the food and service. Â
A very clean and modern restaurant. Friendly staff. They offer both lunch and dinner portions, which is a great idea. Â Sometimes you just dont need that huge portion.
Service      5 stars
Food quality  4 1/2 stars
Atmosphere  5 stars
Noise level   4 stars
I really would rate them 41/2 stars but alas, Yelp does not give us this option.
Based on the reviews of this place, I decided to try it as the restaurants in Fort Myers are lacking to say the least. Â I went with my Mom who lives in the area (I live in Chicago) and was expecting a NYC Carmine's or Chicago Quartino experience. Â
First the location - it's way out of the way close to the airport. Â It's behind a shopping center full of Doctors' offices and not visible from the street.
We went on a Monday night and finished the place and left around 9:30 PM and the staff were literally sweeping around us during dessert...
To start, we had the Bruschetta platter - comes with eggplant and also tomato. Â It was very meh, not bad but not good either. Â They give you generic garlic rolls for the table as well.
Main course we shared two pasta dishes, one was a bolognese and the other a cream sauce with chicken and shrimp. Â Again, good, not great, and just very meh all around. Â
The dessert was a Cannoli cake, really not good, HUGE portion and had some almond paste in it which gave it a really funky flavor.
The waiter was polite but he also wasn't very knowledgable about the menu or necessarily great, just kind of meh like the food.
I'd say this place is what you'd expect if you were to go to Carraba's or another typical chain Italian type place.
I give it 2 stars because I would not go back to this place again give all the reasons above. Â The not bad not great feeling earns a 2 for me as well.
Service killed the whole experience for me. Â Was supposed to go as a group one night but got there to late. Heard good things about it so I went back alone the next day. Â Restaurant was pretty busy, but I chose to sit at the bar by myself. Now I know why there was nobody at the bar. The bartender had zero personality or service skills. Â I even tried to strike up conversation by asking 'How long have you been in business?'. The reply was about a year in this location. When I asked 'Where was the other location he looked at me and walked away. Â
Getting extra napkins when I ate was too much, I resorted to taking bar napkins.
Food was okay, nothing special, meatballs weren't so exciting.
Decor was cheesy.. Nothing says Italian food like posters of The Godfather and Scarface. Lol
Maggianos is better, avoid the grump at the bar
I've lived here 8 years, driven by this place a thousand times, and never even suspected it's existence. I happened to find out about it from a friend who called it his favorite italian place in town. I beg to differ. The food is good, but uninspiring. The service is OK. Overall, not bad but there are numerous better Italian restaurants nearby (try TrattoriaCafe Napoli).
Review Source:Before I really start the review, I need to tell you to order the sangria. Trust me. It's some of the best sangria I've had. Ever.
Ok, now to everything else. We started with meatballs. Delicious! We had some garlic knots. Amazing! Then our entrees. Yum!
Next time, I'll probably order the chicken parmigiana. One of my friends got it and had leftovers for two more meals. It was huge and really, really good. My other friend and I both went healthier and ordered some pasta dish with "Skinny" in the name. It had spinach, whole wheat pasta, pine nuts, and I added chicken. It was a really good choice. We all had tons of leftovers and full bellies when we left.
Service was great too. Our waitress was so friendly and very attentive. And tue restaurant is beautiful. Lots of dramatic red drapes and art on the walls. It's perfect for a girls night, a date, or a family dinner.
Went in with 25 people on Sunday for lunch, they new we were coming.
Being a meatball myself we ordered Mama's Meatball app.
They were ok, but considering the name I was expecting something great, they were just ok. They were served with rolls, that were less than ok. There were already baskets of rolls on the table, but the rolls were different from the rolls served with the meatballs. WTF?
Neither of the rolls were any good in my opinion. Remember I am a NY EyeTalian and very critical of so-called Italian joints.
I should have know better, but I ordered the Italian combo sub, it was served with some lackluster pasta salad. The sub could possibly been the worst ever EyeTalian sub I have ever seen.
The women in my party that organized this lunch eats there all the time and said everything is great. What does she know she's from Carolina and not EyeTalian.
My wife had a salad and she was equally unimpressed with the house dressing.
The rest of the crowd was eating all kinds of different things and I did not hear any complaints or raves for that matter.
Perhaps if they had used fresh rolls & bread not leftovers and if they actually put some EyeTalian cold cuts on my sub It might have been ok.
My wife said she was glad we were there for lunch and wasted less money than we would have at dinner.
We won't be back!
Not bad at all. Â The food was that of a chain- nothing to really set it apart. Â HUGE portions, which some people in this area like, but not much imagination in the dishes. Â
This is certainly not authentic Italian food - it is Americanized Italian, which is ok, so long as that's what you want.
They do have really cheep Stella beer on tap - which is a huge plus. Â Overall, had a good meal here, but unless I was famished and needed a huge meal - this wouldn't be my first choice.
This was the first place I went to for lunch when I got to Ft. Myers. Â The sandwiches are amazing! My go to was the grilled chicken and portbello mushrooms with arugula. Â
For any arlington, VA folks out there, this places gives the Italian Store a run for their money.
The service is awesome, everyone is super nice.
I've been to Two Meatballs in the Kitchen once, and that is only because every time I try to go back they have a ridiculous waiting list!! Apparently the rest of this town also has a soft spot for delicious Italian food.
I had the Eggplant Parmesan, and surprisingly there was something other than regular spaghetti on the menu for my vegan boyfriend! We had to wait a little while to receive our entrees, but the owner brought out pizza for us to snack on while we waited. The plates are huge, so count on having lunch for the next day. Â
Eat here!
I visited Two Meatballs back in March of 2011 while visiting in the area for Spring Training. Â I was debating on where to dine, but with the help of Yelp reviews and local advertising in the program from the stadium I was at, we picked here.
As we walked in we were not immediately greeted. Â There were five females hovering and leaning around their podium area (two of them had jeans on). Â After we were acknowledged, we were seated without much being said. Â I noticed the dining area was starting to fill up, and there seemed to be many other baseball fans in the dining room. Â As a foodie who enjoys great service, I simply couldn't get over the lack of professionalism we received upon arrival. Â It appeared as we observed that the three females were the leaders on the floor, and their host and wait staff were dressed more professionally. Â (I am basing this off their limited actions and photo on the wall.) Â Most of the staff appeared to be 19-25 years old, so there was little professionalism being taught. Â What bothered me the most was how their hair was down and they wore sandles in the kitchen. Â They continued to seat more patrons by walking super fast, leaving them lost, and didn't even wish them any pleasantries such as "enjoy your meal" ... instead they said nothing. Â It appeared that they were just looking at these patrons as $$ and not the individuals that they were. Â (Yet, they didn't seat their dining room very efficiently to meet the demand that was there when we left. Â Lots of parties of 2 at 4s before all the deuces were full.) Â I didn't see them talking to tables, as you often get in most smaller restaurants, and they didn't even seem to care when we said "thank you" as we left. Â We also witnessed a larger party being sat at two large tables next to us. Â Someone came to bring an extra chair and then another staff member took it away... so they sat it without enough chairs at the table. Â That explains the limited professionalism there.
The service was alright, as previous reviews also say. Â I was a bit disappointed by the lack of table maintenance, especially since we were seated at a deuce. Â (I was disappointed when the only staff who was bussing the tables or pre-bussing seemed to not speak English as their first language.) Â We loved the garlic knots!! Â That was worth it completely. Â We also shared the white pizza, which we felt was nice, but quite dry. Â It could of used a bit more oil or something. Â There was a nice service attempt at a two-step service for the pizza as the server came out with a tray with plates but then when the pizza was ready, we had to move things to make room for it. Â I found this odd.
We were seated with a view of the kitchen. Â The place was very trendy looking with nice lighting, seating, etc. but the tables seem to be poorly setup. Â The door for the staff to use in and out of the kitchen seems like a mess waiting to happen. Â They kept stopping and waiting and nearly avoiding collisions.
The icing on the cake was the restroom. Â Since we can't literally see into the kitchen to see their sanitation practices (besides the exposed hair and open shoes), and well, they had stacks of paper towels on the sinks. Â To me this showed they are not very focused on keeping it clean.
Overall, I found this a great night of people watching with the staff and a great place for new business owners to go to learn what not to do in terms of guest service. Â The food was okay, but I've had better.
Service was awesome. Food was average. Â I had the tilapia, was good, potatoes were very good and veggie side was average. Garlic knots were plentyful but I have had much better. Husband and son each had a stromboli, portion was single size appropriate, But my son said it lacked flavor,
Room was loud, conversation was difficult. Decor was nice and attractive. Â Wait staff attentive. Â And food was out in a timely manner.
I might go again but would not recommend it to a friend.
I ate here on April 30, 2011. It was recommended to me and I was starving. I loved everything about this place. I had their famous garlic knots(2 bowls) and the lasagna. It was really great. My server was Vee, who was great. I ate all my food before she even came back and she put her hand on my shoulder and said; 'Honey, doesn't anyone ever feed you?' Little does she know.....
Make sure you see my photos from this place. The people who have given negative reviews are simply full of shit. Period.
Eat, EAT!! Â The only thing missing here is Momma leaning into your ear as she spoons three servings onto your plate. Â
We stopped for lunch and read inexpensive pricing on selections that were HUGE. Â My stromboli was full of veggies as promised by the menu description. Â But the portion was an industrious size, so half went home in a box. Â Not one of the five women at our table could finish their food. Â
Guess Two Meatballs is catering to the More is Better crowd.
This place is BAD BAD BAD.
This is like a poor mans Maggiano's, with worse food, service, and ambiance. Â We waited 1 hour for our entree's, and some were cold when they came out. Â Regardless, I try to judge restaurants by their food.
The quality of the spaghetti and meatballs was what you can make at home with cheap ingredients. Â The veal parm was nothing special. Â Basically, this makes me real happy that I have a Maggiano's very close to my place. Â
Very overrated. Â Avoid. Â 2 stars.
There's an odd stretch of scorched earth along Daniels Parkway that is home to several widely spaced, blocky buildings. Â One of these is Two Meatballs in the Kitchen, an oddly named Italian joint that offers large portions of decent food in an open, boisterous setting.
When we arrived on a Thursday evening the parking lot was nearly full, but we were still seated promptly. Â Conversations echoed in the large dining room, accompanied by a man playing keyboard and singing hits from the 60s, 70s, and 80s - a cheesy, but enjoyable touch. Â Be nice and tip him!
The food didn't break any new ground, but was well prepared Italian-American fare. Â The Mussels Fra Diavolo included plenty of large, fresh mussels, but the "spicy tomato sauce" didn't have much kick, and overall there wasn't a ton of flavor. Â Better was the Grilled Salmon Piccata, with its buttery fish (slightly overcooked) balancing a rich, tangy sauce. Â The Wild Mushroom Ravioli was a winner, its plentiful, mushroom-stuffed pasta served up in a hearty cream sauce. Â The portion sizes were perfect - just a few leftovers to take home.
Service was good, if a bit slow - much time passed between the arrival of our appetizer and the main course (probably the result of a backed-up kitchen). Â But all plates were delivered hot and the ingredients fresh.
Dining out in Ft. Myers can often be a sleepy affair, but the crowd at Two Meatballs in the Kitchen had some refreshing energy. Â The food isn't covering any new territory, but it hits the spot.
Give it a try!
I have not yet had anything to eat at this place that was not totally on point. The garlic knots alone make me and my friends come back. Other favorites include the prosciutto and mushroom pizza, anything with any of their red sauces ( which my italian friend says tastes like his grandmothers. cant get much better of a compliment than that ) chicken francese, mussels, fried calamari and wild mushroom ravioli. Portions are large, food is fresh, people are friendly, atmosphere is great. Go!
o ya and CANNOLI CAKE!!!!! 1 slice will feed probably 4 adults. also its delicious.
Quite small, but cozy place in the corner of a strip mall. Â This place has a limited amount of seating and we actually had to wait for about 5 min to get a table (albeit at 7:30 on a saturday night...so i wasn't complaining). Â Because the restaurant is quite small, it felt a little bit like you were packed in and was noticeably loud, but I didn't mind.
The food was good. Â They start you off with fresh bread rolls laced with oil and garllic (which is always nice). Â We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, and it was so-so, ive had better and worse. Â I ordered a dish called the Alaine something something...it combined shrimp, chicken, prosciutto and parmesan in some kind of cream sauce over a pasta. Â It was really good, but it was also dripping oil (one of those dishes where your belly is on one shoulder saying "dooooo it" and your waist line is on the other shoulder saying "see you at the gym tomorrow". Â The price was fair for the amount of food.
overall, I would recommend you try it out. Â The menu was quite large and a lot of items looked good.
This is a fabulous new Italian restaurant for Fort Myers. In a town that embraces corporate & fast food, this place is a breath of fresh air. The interior is beautifully done in an old world Italian style. It's a family run place and it shows.
Oh, yes, the food? Excellent! We had a glass of wine with the calamari appetizer followed by the thin crust Greek Pizza. This is about as good as Italian food gets, at least in Fort Myers...
In an area (south Ft. Myers) lacking any real distinct dining options (nothing but chains and fast food), this is a great find. Â Hard to locate initially in the back of the 2 story Bella Vista Shops bldg., the portions always leave leftovers for lunch the next day and the food is what you'd expect out of a family run Italian (via Brooklyn) restaurant - excellent thin crust NY style pizza with generous toppings (try the Greek combo yum), crisp non-greasy calamari, creative variations on traditional pasta dishes, tender meatballs and a very reasonably priced wine list. Â I wish I could save room to try the desserts, they look fab. Â And they recently opened an Italian deli next door where you can get subs, sandwiches, deli meats and cheeses to go. 2 people for dinner with a bottle of wine is seldom over $60.
