1st time here this morning and was as great as yelp reviewers said. There were 5 of us and we had French toast, eggs Benedict, triple bypass egg sandwich , fruit & yogurt special, omelette  and the owner chef made Reese's peanut butter pancakes as a special request. everything was exceptional! Hot fresh and delicious !

Wanted to try after moving close to the area, about 1 mile away. Also was curious after driving past everyday on my way to college and reading reviews.

Very cute place, quiet, which was nice. I ordered the salmon Oscar and my boyfriend ordered the chicken Marsala. Both were delicious! Enjoy the rolls and dipping oil! Also topped of dinner with a molten lava cake topped with red velvet ice cream!

Both my boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed! Will most likely become regulars! Want to try breakfast next time!! Definitely recommend.

Only thing: was hoping to me chef jay and his wife after reading reviews but did not... She greeted a few tables next to us, maybe next time!

I've been here about 5 times in the last couple months (all for breakfast on Sat/Sun). It's that good that I keep coming back. Jay creates a fun atmosphere, but I also really like the food.

It's written everywhere that the food is going to take a little while. Why is everyone in such a rush? Relax, enjoy the company of people you are with, and perhaps enjoy a drink.

Food is quite good. The Lox Benedict is the best benedict I've ever had (I've had a lot of benedict). Banana Foster French toast is amazing if you are in the mood for something sweet. Those are our favorite, but the more traditional meals are quite good too like the burrito (a bit soggy though).

I can't quite make up my mind between 3 or 4 stars. My food was great: omelet was full of fresh veggies, grilled hash browns were excellent. However my boyfriend's pancakes were too chewy and doughy, seemed undercooked. He didnt like the cornbeef hash. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt re:pancakes that it was just a mistake. Service was friendly, wait time wasn't bad. Portions were adequate where I was full. Interesting selection of food.

I would have considered coming back here..But ever since my review on 5/11/13 , i have had numerous messages form the owner and apparently he does it often and to many other yelpers, who don't give good ratings and reviews..It actually makes me uncomfortable......can't even rate a place...honestly..they are just reviews.. I thank you for making an attempt to mend things..but what is broken can not be fixed... truly it makes me really uncomfortable...

I've always seen negative reviews of experiences at Jays...I sorta thought they were overblown. Jay can be a little high strung but its a rare chef that isn't.

However, I have to accept that I was wrong. Being on the receiving end of one such experience, I am sorely disappointed in the treatment that my group received.

All restaurants have off nights. Even great places that put time and effort into planning, prep, and execution. Its how the staff respond to the off night to make sure that customers are receiving a satisfactory experience worth the money they are paying. Jay's failed in every regard.

Love Jay's twisted Fork.  The appeal of this restaurant is Jay and his wife.  Jay's wife came outside while waiting for the last seating for Easter Brunch and talked to us and many others.  This couple clearly loves what they do and it shows.  The buffet at Easter was very good.  The quality of the food was there.  Jay was the star of the buffet.  He had everyone come in, when everyone was seated he personally introduced all the dishes.  He also asked anyone to let him know about any allergies.
My son remarked how refreshing it was to have a meal in a restaurant that the chef actually cared and interacted.
We enjoyed EVERYTHING and there was more than enough for ALL.
We go out to dinner 2 times a week and I only wish Jay's was closer to us.   We have never, ever been treated or seen a chef/ owner careso much about the patrons & food.
Jay we were the group of 3 who came furtherest.  You impressed my son by asking him about the food, he told me I picked a great place for Easter Brunch.

Jay came out with the fresh ingredients to make hollandaise sauce, butter, lemons & eggs.  This man loves what he does. I am going to be honest the big appeal to this restaurant besides the great food is Jay and his wonderful wife.

Anyone who complains about you, your food or the restaurant is clueless.   Do not change a thing!

When you check in, you get a free soda or coffee!

Uncle Jay's Twisted Fork is a fun place for a brunch, and as soon as you walk in you immediately know who Uncle Jay is. Behind the counter there is a window into the kitchen where a boisterous man stands infront of a steaming stove and theatrically welcomes everyone that walks into the restaurant.

Uncle Jay was entertaining, to say the least, and he would loudly comment to the entire restaurant about how our table was fun for ordering bloody marys and mimosas. Whenever someone ordered his famous french toast, he bursted with exclamations of excitement about cooking it. He's a great, positive jolt of energy to start your day.

It's definitely a popular spot, it was almost completely full as early as 10:00am on a Saturday. The reason I didn't give it four or five stars is because the food, or at least what my mom and I ordered, tasted like typical diner breakfast food. Don't get me wrong, I love diner breakfast food, but I was just expecting something a little more exciting by the descriptions on the menu. To be fair, my dad ordered the chili omelette and said that it was fabulous. In Uncle Jay's Twisted Fork's favor, I appreciate that unlike a diner, every single meal is freshly made-to-order using only ingredients from local farms. And I hate to say, but the bloody mary was watery and a little boring.

Just came from Uncle Jay's Twisted Fork.  We were very pleased. I had the French Onion Soup, was glad to see I had a choice of a smaller portion.  Very tasty.  For entree I had the Chicken Marsala.  Not something I typically order, but it was excellent and I would get it again.  Wife had the "princess cut" prime rib, she was very happy with her choice.  Mother in-Law thought it was a little pricey, but she thinks everything should be $7.99.  She got the fish and chips and also said it was good.  Full bar, cold beer.  The only negative, which some might think is a positive, is that I was considering a steak, but the smallest steak on the menu is 14 oz, and I can't eat that much beef.  The service was excellent. Our waitress was Ashley and she was friendly, professional and very attentive.  We will gladly go back to try some other menu items.  Next time, Mother In-law stays home.

I've been going here for over a year and there has yet to be a plate I didn't like. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and very family orientated. The food is absolutely spectacular, original, and most importantly... FRESH!! I live a little over an hour away and it is absolutely worth every second of the drive!!

An excellent place to go.  Was nervous at first because we were asked if we had reservations and we didn't.  The hostess gave me a "uh oh" look, but she accomodated us with no problem.  I was happy since i drove an hour and 15 minutes just to eat there.  We sat down and was greeted by the wonderful danielle!  She did everything that a waitperson should.  Impeccable service.  Of course Jay threw us some jibber jabber which we threw some back!!  Our food was excellent.  My wife is an executive chef and she was impressed (doesnt happen often).  We drive all over New England looking for little "holes in the wall" and this was perfect.  Will definitely go back to try the french toast.  I had the wicked waffle and loved it.  Yelp found us a good one!  Oh, anyone who follows a gps, my gps (the iphone) had me stop a half mile before the location.

The food was great and the portions were better than the low price. The best part was Jay's energetic and friendly disposition. He greets says farewell to all guests. This greatly adds to the flavor of the food. Danielle, our waitress was great too. Definitely check this place out.

For a breakfast place, this is indeed as good as it gets.  I have been twice now, my most recent visit being this morning.

I will start with the menu.  A large variety of breakfast items from pancakes to omelets to benedict, everything comes in generous quantities and high quality.  I did a "build your own omelet", it was delicious and fresh.  The home fries were grilled with onions and the toast was buttered which I thought was a nice touch.

More than the food though, the service is absolutely exceptional.  Our waitress Danielle was so funny and friendly that I felt compelled to call the restaurant on my way home to sing her praises to Jay's wife, who was also wonderful and must have offered us coffee refills 3 or 4 times, each time with a huge smile on her face.

This is the way you run a business.  Excellent.

One of the hightlights of our week long Christmas visit from our son and his wife from LA, was a breakfast for 9 at Uncle Jays.  The food was MAGNIFICENT!  Everything made from scratch and lots of special menu items and extra touches,  So impressive!  Most of the people in our party said it was the best breakfast they EVER had, and they are a bunch of foodies.  The wait staff was very pleasant, and we were glad they let us know that, as our meals were made to order, they would take about 25 minutes.  No problem, we had plenty to talk about, but it was good to have the heads up.  Uncle Jay came to the table to Kibutz at the end.  We all agreed this would be an annual Christmas tradition.

I've been to the twisted fork twice and it's a nice little spot for breakfast. The food is good and the service is great despite what uncle Jay has to say...

Just want to point out to the manager, who I'm assuming is uncle Jay, that it's probably not the best idea to chew your staff out about poor service while customers are trying to enjoy breakfast. I thought it was rude and unprofessional especially when the service was fine. If you are so concerned about bad reviews on yelp you might want to not vent about it for the whole restaurant to hear, just saying.

Oh and one last thing, please bring back the wild boar sausages. Best breakfast sausage ever.

Excellent service today (even in light of the restaurant losing power). Jay, the owner boiled water over his gas stove and made coffee an old fashioned way to accommodate without missing a beat.  If you are looking for a hearty breakfast this is the place to go.  He cooks everything from scratch.

11-9-12.  The worst dining experience we have had in years. The service was terrible . We waited a almost an hour for our food. My wife ordered fish and it arrived cold after the long wait. We sent it back and it came back cold again. None of the tables had salt or pepper. We ordered drinks and never saw the waitress the rest of the night. This place is bad. Keep going down Stafford and go to Worcester.

Because of it's location I always over looked this place, but it is worth going a little out of your way.  Food was good, "Uncle Jay" is always putting on a show from the kitchen, good bloody Mary's and a great draft beer selection for lunch.  If I have to complain about something, the service could have a been a few seconds faster but they were busy an it was within reason.

The important thing is that the food is awesome and clearly made with love. Jay's in the kitchen cracking jokes, talking to customers and making the food himself. Everything we ordered was delicious.

You'll probably wait for your food, and as long as you know that going in, you'll be happy with what you get.

My cheeseburger omelet was delicious. I don't know what seasoning he uses or if he candies his bacon, but it was straight up tasty. The deep-fried homefries were addicting, I only wish they weren't out of the grilled ones so I could have tried those too!

My guest got eggs benedict and he said it was great. He was particularly smitten with the hollandaise sauce and the ham. He also really liked the sausages that he ordered as a side.

In terms of food and the chef, five stars all around. Heck, the place was clean and comfortable so I'll give that five stars too.

My only complaint is with the waitresses. They could do a better job at telling customers about how long food will take (and honey it up with how Jay's back there making every plate to order) instead of making us wonder why they were standing around instead of taking our order. I'm cool with waiting, just give me a heads up and make me feel good about it. I'll order an app to hold me over or something.

This is an absolute undiscovered gem. If you are in the Auburn area this should be your first consideration as a restaurant. Avoid all the noxious chain places out on Rte. 12 Southbridge. Based on the reviews here I had expected a diner like atmosphere. This was not all all the case, the decor while not fancy was very fresh and pleasant. As for the food, I had prime rib, which was locally raised and dry aged and was very nicely seasoned and well cooked. For a side order fresh yellow squash which was cooked to perfection without being overdone. The wife ordered fish and chips which was flaky moist and not overdone. The boy ordered spaghetti with meatball, the pasta was cooked just past al dente with a flavorful bolognese style sauce  and a fabulously soft and delicious meat ball.  The servers were very friendly and not over attentive. Seriously you could not ask for more at this price range, for the 3 of us with drinks it was just over $40. Do yourself a favor the next time you are in the area drop in for a meal.

Met owners fiancé, very nice sat down and chatted with us. Julie our server.  She was very helpful.  This reminded me of Cheers in Leicester MA.  The food was good.  We had an omlette and pancakes and shared a mimosa.  I would definitly come back!

Besure to "check in" on YELP while there. They offer a free coffee or soda. Which was a pleasant surprise. Therefor extremely polite service, 2 orders of luke warm Eggs Benedict served with home-fries on a small plate, 1 med fresh fruit cup, small OJ and med Cranberry juice with tax came to $25plus.   I'd go back but would try something else on the menu.

I never knew a place called Cherry Valley existed in MA, even as a lifelong resident of the state. It was only by chance that I happened upon Uncle Jay's, as I was in Auburn getting my car serviced at Firestone. Looking for a good place to have a late weekend breakfast, I came across Uncle Jay's as a well-reviewed 4-star yelp listing and figured it would have to be good.

Uncle Jay's sadly suffers from the age-old issue of having a lot of fantastic potential, but falls short where service is concerned. Upon entering, we were greeted by a woman who I'm 99% sure was the owner, who was very welcoming, and got us all set up with a great table and coffee/drinks/menus immediately. After a wonderful start, it was downhill from there. Our waitress (Lisa I believe?), said she'd be "right over" to take our order 3 or 4 times over a 15 minute period. We knew after the 2nd or 3rd time that Miss Lisa was going to be trouble. When she finally did come over, she wasn't even apologetic about the very lengthy wait, and briskly took our order with no common courtesies or "hello/how are you's". When we asked for a side of corned beef hash, we were rudely told we couldn't have a side order as it was only on special that day. She didn't even bother to walk the three steps to the kitchen to double-check and see if she could fulfill the request. Bummer. We figured out (with no help from Lisa) how we could work hash into our breakfast request (we changed our fried egg with bacon and homefries with a side of hash into a hash and egg breakfast special with a side of bacon). We were then told they had no grilled homefries that day, only deep fried ones. Strike two. Throw some potatoes on the grill, it's not that serious. On a good note, they do have a great variety of breakfast options, some very inventive, including a benedict with SPICY hollandaise, which is what I ordered.

When the food came, It was good, not great, and the portions were adequate. The kitchen is pretty much open, and about halfway through our meal the chef yelled from the kitchen to us asking how everything was. It was nice to know that he cared enough (and he clearly cared) to check in with us, but it was kind of an interruption and put us on the spot in a half-full restaurant.

At the end of the meal, we struggled to get our check from Lisa, the waitress of the year contender, and when we finally did, she never came back to offer us change or anything. I had to physically get up, stand at the counter hoping she would acknowledge me (which she never did) and then finally just interrupt whatever it was that she was doing and ask for change. Not good Lisa, not good. Suffice it to say, we left her a well-deserved measly tip.

All in all, this place has all the potential to be an amazing local restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Full liquor/beer bar, inventive menu with a totally competent chef, plenty of space and an owner that clearly gives a damn. With a few tweaks, and some serious help in the waitress department, Uncle Jays' could turn their twisted attitude back into the twisted fork they had intended.

Really good food, somethings are more successful than others and they aren't against putting some spice on some of the food, but this place boasts a real chef, and sadly that's not that common around here, so for that alone it gets five stars.

The wait-staff is diner variety as is the decor,  but you aren't coming here to the middle of the woods for the atmosphere are you?

Expect to wait, the food is made fresh, and that's how food should be.

A perfect Sunday brunch: Twisted Benedict and The Wicked Waffle

I split the waffle with a friend and I was full and content until dinner. The eggs benedict had perfectly runny yolk and the portabella mushrooms were a great addition. I would definitely get this dish again.

The Wicked Waffle is a mountain of whipped cream, strawberries, bananas and walnuts, complete with chocolate sauce. This is exactly what I expect on my belgian waffle, which is a meal in itself.

It gets busy during brunch so don't go when you're starving, unless you want everyone in your party to get cranky. Beat the rush and go around 11. In the meantime, you can enjoy Uncle Jay singing and entertaining the customers. The people are very friendly, and a lot of regulars seem to know each other by name.

A table across from me got the Thriller, which I thought was a lot of food, but it's only a preview to the Killer. The Killer is basically breakfast that can feed a huge family. If a single person can finish it in an hour, it's free. Apparently 25 people have tried it so far, and none have finished eating it in under an hour. Curious to see when someone will finally be able to get the free Killer.

Went for dinner on a Friday night.  Wasn't very crowded, which was a little off putting. We were waited quickly, our waitress was efficient and helpful with the menu.  We ordered Angel hair pasta with homemade meat balls and fish and chips.  Our order came fairly quickly.  The food was cooked to perfection!  The pasta was al dente and the meatballs were very tasty and cooked well.  the fish was a good size portion, and a good amount of french fries.  The fries were seasoned and a good compliment to the fish, which was moist, flaky and not oily, nor was it dry.   This was our first visit and we must say that we will go back again!

This is the place to go for homemade comfort food. They have pot pies, shepherd's pie, meatloaf, turkey dinners, prime rib, and other dishes.

I ordered the queen sized prime rib which came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Now I've had prime rib at the House of Prime Rib in San Francisco and this was as good if not better. The meat was so succulent and it just melts in your mouth. I loved the flavor of the au jou. The mashed potatoes were more like whipped potatoes, so airy and light. I couldn't get enough of the dinner rolls, crunchy on the outside and piping hot and pillowy soft on the inside.

Microwaved my leftovers for lunch, the prime rib was soft enough for me to cut through with a plastic knife. I expected the mashed potatoes to transform into a dense blob of starches, but it still retained it's light texture. I was pleasantly surprised.

My only complaint is that service is rather slow.

Very easy to get here from Worcester. A little diner type, seat yourself place. The prices were reasonable for lunch and breakfast. We decided to have breakfast. The entire menu has a good and varying selection.

The Italian omelet was very tasty. The cheese omelet was bland. The toast was very fresh. The homefries were flavorful but fried.

    Service was nice and friendly.

I admit it...we went back again, though this time without the munchkin.

Food was still great as was the service.

Yes boys and girls, there really is an Uncle Jay. He was out back slaving away over the stove while providing entertainment for those of us in the dining room. That alone was worth the price of admission.

Located in a strip mall on Stafford St. in Cherry Valley, good home cookin' awaits you! I thought I'd made a wrong turn before getting to Uncle Jay's Twisted Fork. It's in a very unassuming location.

I tried the place out for lunch today -- a Good Friday treat for myself and the tots. I had a 1/2 sandwich (tuna on wheat) and cup of soup of the day ( lentil), a crock of chili ( for later) and a side of fries. All this came to a whopping (hah!) $12.05. The tuna was perfect -- just enough mayo to hold it together. The soup was good but reminded me more of split pea then lentil in texture. The chili -- tested but not finished was of thick texture and beefy goodness. They say Uncle Jay is famous for his chili :) The fries were of the coated variety -- not a favorite of mine but were eaten with no complaints from the wee ones.

The waitstaff was also excellent. Toni was very pleasant over the phone and in person as she gathered our grub and wrung up the check.

I did notice that there are no children's items ( chicken fingers, smaller burgers or even a pb &j) on the menu. Maybe it's on purpose? It would make going to Uncle Jay's more of a him & me kind of place which will mean less frequent visits. Kids items added -- I could see us hiking here for lunch at least once a month!

All in all, looking at what I received and the meals that other diners were enjoying, Uncle Jay's Twisted Fork is definitely a diamond in the rough! I can't wait to come back and try the Twisted Eggs Benedict.

They do accept credit cards in case you are short of cash!
