This may be a great place for a game, but they do not treat concert attendees very well. I'm sure Muse is not the only band that gets people excited enough to line up all day for a show, and the United Center is an unpleasant place to do this, especially when compared to the Target Center in Minneapolis. I can see perhaps the venue was not built properly to allow for indoor queuing, but was it really necessary to move us from a dry sidewalk to an icy un-shovelled one?

One aspect that is not the venue's fault is the sorry state of the neighborhood; it is quite a hike from the queuing area to any place with an acceptable toilet or food, and there is not much nearby for post-concert refreshment. However, given this situation, maybe the United Center could figure out some way to let people lining up all day use their restrooms.

We also had trouble with the box office. They had no understanding of the different kinds of tickets for the Muse gig on 3/4/13, and it took us until mid-afternoon to convince them to release our will call tickets. It would have been disastrous if this had to be done closer to the time the doors opened.

When it finally was time to open the doors, some order prevailed, though there was a lot of stress before that because people arriving did not understand where the general admission line was.

Muse was great and I still enjoyed the show, and the one thing the United Center does have on Target Center is better acoustics. However, I feel the UC staff treated us like annoying livestock instead of valued guests. Though I have family in Chicagoland, making this an easy trip for me, I find myself wishing Muse would play at another venue.

The United Center. The UC. The Madhouse on Madison. Home of the Blackhawks and the Bulls. Despite being a former north-sider(I'm now one of those suburbanites), I haven't been to a Cubs game, but I have been to the Cell, and to the UC for both Bulls and Hawks games, and finally, a UFC event. The most memorable times I've had at sporting events have all been at the United Center.

Chicago Bulls 1995-1996. That's right, the 72-10 season. My dad got us tickets to a game and wouldn't you know it? We happened to be at the first home loss, one out of only 2 at home that season. That was not cool. Jordan scored 40, and they lost anyway. To the Hornets. To the Hornets with the old man Robert Parrish starting at center. Anyways......

UFC at the UC. MMA at the United Center? Despite the moronic noob fan a couple of rows behind us touting the merits of "one-legged defense", it was great watching UFC on FOX 2 live and in person.

Countless games pre DRose era, before I lost interest in the game due to the amount of flopping. I hate that. Be a man. One of my favorite memories then was Luol Deng's rookie season, when he took off from inside the free throw line and dunked on 2 dudes. Another one was Tyson Chandler swatting a weak attempt at the basket and the ball he swatted totally hit a fan in the face.

Numerous Hawks games, but the absolute best was sitting in a suite for a Hawks game on my birthday. Different food service each intermission, and a dessert cart for the 3rd period? That was the pinnacle of them all. Oh, and the Hawks destroyed the Blues 4-2 that day.

I know it's not the old Stadium, but you still get a sense of what the Bulls and the Blackhawks really mean to Chicago when you look up at the rafters and see all the banners and retired jerseys.

I've sat on each tier of seats from 100 to the very last row before standing room only and I can honestly say I've never had a bad seat. The food is good, though overpriced but really, what do you expect? It's like eating at the airport, except the service is better.

Come and see Stan Mikita/Bobby Hull/Michael Jordan/Scottie Pippen statues. Free photo op! Make your best Air face! Stick your tongue out! Look silly while others wait their turn to also look silly!

Parking is easy enough with a number of surface lots at your disposal, and theres almost always a spot somewhere. You'll spend $20 for parking adjacent to the stadium, or $10-15 for the lots across the street.

Overall, a great place to make memories, or to watch history in the making. Here's hoping the Hawks don't scrub a great start and end up taking home the Cup.

Oh and hopefully the Bulls can do something next season, though I'm not holding my breath.

Went to the United Center for a Hawks game recently. Limited complaints here.

The venue has ample bathrooms that are easy and quick to get to, plenty of beer and food stands and is relatively easy to get in and out of pre and post game. The night we went the place was packed, but never felt claustrophobic.

The 2 small complaints I have are 1. that the seat space is limited. When I found myself sitting next to someone on the bigger side I felt squeezed out and 2. traffic could be routed better around the venue.

I've attended maybe twenty Bulls games at the United Center over the years. I've been lucky to have sat anywhere from the corporate suites way up top, to courtside, to the club level, to the upper-level nosebleed sections. I've always had a good time at Bulls games no matter where I've been seated.

Personally, the club (200) level was always my favorite... good proximity to the action without being too close to have nice overall view, and the concourses and concession areas in those sections weren't as crowded.

Food and drink were pretty average, although I used to like to hit the ground level brewpub on the west side of the venue. It was a nice sports pub-like place to hang out before the game or at halftime.

The pregame light and sound show is pretty impressive, you know, the one that they play after the visiting team has been introduced but before the Bulls roster is. Very cool! Worth experiencing at least once if you're in town for a visit.

I always used to park in the Loop and take a taxi out to the venue -- it's about a $10 fare but doing it that way saves you the aggravation of dealing with the gametime traffic going on nearby. After the game, cabs are relatively hard to find, but there are always a number of CTA buses parked outside on the north side of the venue which can have you back in the Loop in about ten minutes. The local neighborhood isn't the best, but as much as of a crowd that's always around it's not a factor that I ever worried about.

The United Center is a really nice place to watch a basketball but has a more cavernous and "corporate" feel to it than other NBA venues I've visited.

Here's hoping that Derrick Rose can make it back to 100% soon -- as a former longtime resident of the Chicago area, I still have a soft spot for the Bulls and hope to make it back to the UC for another Bulls game before this season is out.

Two scores. Building itself is a little above average, but not as nice a many other arenas including the Xcel center in St. Paul, MN. Seats are narrow in the United Center and the overall food isn't that great.

The fans are great, some of the best in the US. The Blackhawk games are a blast, great game operations with sound, video, etc. Again, the fans make this place fun. It is a must visit.

I have been here for blackhawks games and bulls games.
You shouldn't expect amazing food or drinks here but you can expect a great sports atmosphere with awesome fans.
Their beers are expensive, coming in at $8 a piece but when your home team is winning, it doesn't seem to bring me down.
Go hawks! Go bulls!

Love it. Easy parking across the street. Bright & clean with not a bad seat in the house. Good acoustics. Close to Expressway. Doesnt have wider concourses like MSG but otherwise an asset for the CIty of Chicago

As far as arena's go it's above average. The bathrooms are well maintained which is more than you can say for a lot of large venues. The seats you usually not in due to jumping and cheering are actually very comfy. I wish I had been able to see a game in the old Chicago Stadium but alas it was not meant to be.

My only knock against the UC is that the neighborhood is a little sketchy, although that seems to be slowly changing. Plus, there is always the west loop which is just a few blocks away. Regardless, Hawks games are hard to beat here!

I loved the old Chicago Stadium, but geez the UC is fabulous!

I was sitting with a few friends last night, enjoying an IPA while watching the Hawks beat-up on the poor Coyote's. One was also from Chicago, so we were discussing the upcoming opening of Portillo's here in the Valley. We already have an Al's Beef!

Then we turned our attention to the game and how we missed certain thing from Chicago. Lou Malnati's or Giordano's came up. Michael when the Bulls had him, Phil and Scottie. Derek Rose was starting to make his appearance on another screen in Denver. Grrr

I was lucky over the years to go to the UC four or five times annually and see some hockey, and occasionally a basketball game. The UC for me is a perfect venue. And, I mean that as... this is the place which I compare all other sports experiences against.

Yeah, I know, Wrigley and Soldier's Field is nice too. So is that other place down on the south-side, particularly since they fixed the seating. And by the way, I refuse to call it by it's cellular name. But the United Center, is the best all around stadium to see a game, since... well... The Stadium.

Enjoy!

Cool place! I was always curious about this venue and went to my first Bulls game on 1/25. The Bulls won!!! And everyone freaked out when they went over 100 points and we all got free Big Macs. Haha.

Our seats were super high up, that's for sure. But we got them for free, so no complaints there! We had an awesome night, overall.

Compared to other venues and stadiums I've been to, this place was great.

I feel like they really cleaned this place up! I went here last night for a Bulls game and was pleasantly surprised. The employees were courteous and helpful. The seats were comfy. The stadium was clean (including the bathrooms). What more can a girl ask for!

Parking around the stadium is easy (for around $20). Traffic was not bad to get to or from the stadium. I was also expecting a madhouse to get in and out of the stadium but it was very orderly.

The Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks play here, so five stars for that alone!

I love the Bulls so it's hard not to give United 5 stars just for hosting them.

I went to a Saturday game, club seats, our server wasn't very attentive and the kids next to us were drunk and screaming the f word every 3 words but other than that, the stadium was clean, the lines weren't horrible (esp since we were in a special are) and we got nice parking.

Went here a couple to times for sports events, and I did not realize until last night that I need to review this venue... While I am not crazy about its location, this is a very large and well maintained venue. Plenty of parking options around (ballpark being around $20), and well coordinated traffic. There are many snack options inside and, to my surprise, some actual bars to. All in all, I'm a fan of the United Center.

My group and I decided last minute to attend a Chicago Bulls game before we left Chicago, and it was not a mistake. I doubt I will ever be able to attend another NBA game, especially a Bulls game, so it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend the game. I don't even like/understand basketball.

United Center was a wonderful arena and home to the Bulls. We took a bus to the arena, but the parking lot was right across the road. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. Also, the ticket prices were not too shabby for the game in my opinion. We ordered our tickets the night before the game, and it all went very smoothly. We even received free t-shirts when we walked in the doors of the arena. The merchandise and food inside the arena was very expensive, so be prepared to spend some cash. As for the game itself, I loved every second that I was able to watch. The atmosphere was contagiously fun and loud, so I couldn't help, but yell and clap.

Overall, my experience at United Center was excellent. I recommend visiting this place even for non-basketball lovers, such as myself.

I'll take the old Chicago Stadium, over this piece of shit anyday. Chicago stadium was louder and much more of a home court advantage. The idiots that built the stadium, made it so it could be sound proof. I miss dancing to Garry Glitter's Rock n Roll, during timeouts, at the old stadium. This stadium just doesn't strike fear into opponents, like Chicago stadium did.

I've been to a ILL/NW basketball game, multiple Bulls games, and even a few Blackhawks games. Every time I've gone, I have loved it and it has improved!

I want to go back! Excellent food service, plus the two times I was in the 300 level you have waiter service....THAT'S EXCELLENT!

From Brian Cook, Jalen Rose, Patrick Kane, and Derrick Rose...the UC is always rocking.

P.S. I wish the NHL wasn't on strike!

Attended the Bulls game here on Christmas Day with my family. It was an overall great time and this is a must on your visit here to Chicago if you're sports fan. Parking was very easy, actually directly across the street and costs us $27.00. Prices for events on Christmas day are typically more expensive so I'd imagine they normally run $20.00

Getting in and out was easy, no hassle. The United Center is very nice and safe. It is very clean comfortable and packed with restaurants, bars, and places to shop. They have an actual official store there and I recommend you buy from them as they are cheaper than the kiosks. Although we had cheaper seats I could still see the players really well and followed the game with no issues.

They have a variety of food available so don't go for the first pizza or hot dog place, the dogs from the restaurants are much better and will not cost you much more money either. The Bud Light was $8 a cup.

I could only imagine being in that stadium during the Jordan years! My wife attended three games there when Jordan played and she said it was an epic experience! Next time we're in Chicago we will definitely be back here and hopefully we can score some tickets to a Bears game at Soldier Field too!

Lastly, just want to mention that this place was very family friendly. There were plenty of kids there and I would feel comfortable bringing my 4 and 9 year old to a game next time we go there.

Great times, great teams, cramped seating.

I am usually lucky enough to get an aisle seat but if I am no,t there is not enough space for my legs. At 6'6" the seats seem to be built for people from the 1920's yet it is a modern facility. Shame on them for smashing in that extra row. I am sure everyone could use the leg room.

Very nice facility otherwise but as I don't spend the majority of my time at the snack bars or hallways the seats matter. That kind of greed is why there aren't any hockey games being played as I write this review.

What good are the clean restrooms if you are uncomfortable sitting and the Blackhawks are locked out?

If you grew up during the 90s as a Bulls fan and rated the United Center anything less than 5 stars than you're dead to me.

Even though concessions can be a tad steep, and they need to install cup holders in some of the seating I can't really validate deducting from the house that Jordan built. Just too many good memories.

Nowadays it's still a heck of a show but for more than just bball. Even if the Bulls are getting crushed, (Which they were on Christmas Day) between the Luvabulls, Benny and the Elevators, and all the other timeout shows they do it's almost impossible not to stay entertained, regardless of the score.

And of course you can always take this picture https://s3-media1.ak.yel…

My fave large venue in the city for a concert. Big but not too big. I have seen both Coldplay and Prince here this year. Visual effects and sounds were great at both. Went to a Blackhawks game here last year. Next on the list is a Bulls game.

Beer/food is expensive but your paying concert prices. Lots of bathrooms and security is always plentiful to kick out the rowdy crowd.

Tip: Even nosebleed seats are decent here.

United Center is a pretty historic building considering it's young age...but that's what happens to Michael Jordan's home court. Here is why the UC is a great sports arena:

+ lots of suites and luxury boxes for people to invite me to
+ Blackhawks & Bulls are usually good teams. Good games can be seen at the UC.
+ Univ. of Illinois college basketball games here are considered at a neutral court!
+ Michael Jordan statue: that guy was amazing!
+ Ownership and the city are trying to make the neighborhood more tourist friendly
+ plenty of busses go down Madison to make parking a non-issue

Can't think of any reasons to dislike the UC, so it must be a 4 Star experience!

Nice arena!
I came here some years ago to a Bulls vs Celtics game, unfortunately the Bulls lost but it was an enjoyable experience.
Overall a great arena, the reason I gave it 4 stars is that the concourses are dirty and narrow, the should keep that in mind if they're going to renovate the stadium. Go Bulls! Hope this helps! :)

United Center is a nice stadium. It is a really big stadium (takeaway being the higher seats are pretty far up there), but you can still see pretty well. There are tons of food and beer vendors (although they are basically all the same thing). The stadium is clean and safe. There is plenty of parking lots around the stadium and it is also just a few miles from Union Station. It gets pretty noisy, but hey it's a sports stadium. Concerts and shows are also pretty cool at the United Center. It's definitely a place to check out and experience a Bulls, Blackhawks, or other event.

Nosebleeds! That is high up! Tickets are cheap up here but you get what you pay for. Even at that distance, the view was fine. The people of course looked tiny but that's only part of the story.

There's plenty of parking in the area (at a price) which is good.
It's pretty easy to get around inside and there are reasonable food options (for a price!) dotted around. Lines can be long but then that's always the case.

This is great place to catch either a basketball or hockey game.
Compared to other places, getting out isn't too bad given the number of people, especially if you know where you are going. If not....good luck!

The September 25th Price concert was the most perfect show.

There was no single reason for anyone to leave there that night unchanged.

The musical genius rode in on a road bike and funked the funk out of Madison Avenue.

With the theatre in the round and his Love Symbol #2 as the stage design, every seat was front row.

His stage was very cool. Not over the top at all. But it was incredible. The effects were phenomenal and entirely appropriate for each and every note in each and every song.

The slightest ring from a mic that one of the ancillary singers had was problematic but only on seldom occasions.

Prince was in perfect form from start to finish with three or four encores to boot.

The crowd emptied out three times all except for us die-hards who knew not to move until we got kicked out.

The cream of the night was not his song, Cream but rather his rendition of Nothing Compares 2 U with a surprise accompaniment by Jennifer Hudson... SHE WAS PERFECT SOUL AND RAW EMOTION BLENDING SEAMLESSLY WITH PRINCE AND HIS TIMELESS CLASSIC. Heaven. Purple lovely heaven.

The Madhouse on Madison!!
Duh, UC is a Chicago institution. Throughout my life I've done a lot here: seen a 1996 Bulls/ATL Hawks playoff game, several other basketball games, Hawks games, Disney on Ice performances and concerts such as Madonna and Rhianna. Good times fa sho.
Not only are the parking lots secure and parking attendants very helpful, I've always found that I've been able to park fairly close to the building which helps when it's super windy or cold out! I will say that I have terrible luck with the concerts I've attended..I swear it's the only time I go to a show and it starts 2 hours late...but that's not UC's problem (ehemm...Madonnaisab*tch).
Concession stand workers are great-- always friendly and adding to the upbeat atmosphere...not to mention that the Mai Tai's are probably my favorite drink @ a sports venue. They're strong, tall, and have maraschino cherries.
The nosebleed section has been terrible for the few games that I've sat up there. Stand up and you will fear for your life that you're going to tumble and splatter all over the court.
P.S. It's bullsh*t that they have Digiorno pizza...this is CHICAGO!!

As far as sports venues go, I think the UC is pretty solid. Easy to get around, doesn't feel as cluttered as other venues I've been and there isn't really a bad view. I went to my first (and only) Bulls game when someone surprised me with tickets and I had a great time. However, I'm still debating if I could go to a game here alone, though I'm sure I'll give it a go at least once. Oh, and I'm talking basketball. Hockey fans are crazy. Shoot, I avoid this area when there's a hockey game simply because I cannot stand the crazy, but that's just me. I'm sure there is a lovely Blackhawks fan out there somewhere. Maybe.

Anyhow, the UC as a concert venue is...well I'm so-so on it. If the artist is truly a performer, your seats don't really matter. If they aren't, get better seats. It's not even about the sound (never had a problem there), but the view.

As for the location, I like it. One of my (newer) favorite bars is within walking distance and cabs are easily accessible after events. There is also plenty of parking (both street and lot) and it's easily accessible by bus or from the expressway.

The "house that Michael Jordan built" is probably the best arena I've ever been to...

It is hard to be objective when a place is legendary to you even before you set foo in it, but let me explain... This is everything a modern stadium should be! I already had seats at the very last row in the corner for BlackHawks games and I could still see the game very well!
For concerts also, I was in the cheaper sections and the show was awesome.

I won't comment on Bulls games as I am psyched even before I enter the place and tried the different sections with a memorable experience every time!

It would be pointless to just comment on the best shows there, the modern acoustics and the statue outside so we can always mention that this is stadium food, nothing great to expect and that the parking prices are outrageous, take the bus or even better, the blue line.

I love great Arenas, Parc des Princes and Ameterdam ArenA in Europe, Madison Square Garden and Yankee stadium in NYC, but United Center will always be my favorite!

Recently saw Dreamworks "How To Train Your Dragon" production here. This arena has it's act together, getting cars in and out with ease. People...that was a little slower, but in the days following the theater shooting in Colorado I'm assuming they were taking extra precautions.

Arena was clean, many food choices (expensive but that's to be expected), easy to navigate. We got the VIP backstage tour following the show, and everyone was so friendly. By the time we left all the cars were gone. That couldn't happen here...it sometimes takes hours to exit our venues.

Would gladly visit here again!

The Home that Michael Jordan Built! Easy to get to! Easy in and out! Every seat in the house is good! Food Selection is awesome! Bathrooms are plentiful and clean!

Went this time to see Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson Section 111, great seats. The show was spectacular! Great tribute to MJ! I was a little concerned going into the show thinking it was going to be tacky or sensationalized.

Cirque did a great respectful show, honoring the King of Pop!

The home of (Jordan) the Bulls & the Blackhawks... what's not to love. Great, clean venue that can hold a HUGE audience. No matter what the event it feels like you're attending a championship game. Personally, we were there for the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson Immortal World tour and we loved it. Perfect place to have the king of pop's music bumped loudly. Don't miss snapping a picture w/ Michael Jordan's statue on the East side of the building. We'll come back in the near future for a Bull's or Blackhawk game. Also worth mentioning: the United Centers staff was extremely polite. We were greeted at every turn, even during exit.

Tips for transportation: forget the $20-30 parking, the CTA bus dropped us off right at the North gate, although getting back to downtown is tricky since we had to walk south to the train station by the overpass/hospital (about a 10-12 minute walk, exit the building at the South Gate)

It's an ok place to see a game or an event, though they stacked so many private boxes around the 100- and 200-level seating areas that the 300-level seats are a little farther away and elevated than you'd want.

Horrible neighborhood. There's absolutely nothing to do before or after an event. Really--do not get caught walking alone after dark. No restaurants, no fast food options, nothing. And that is what the owners like about it--you have no where to dine or roam outside, so you'll spend all your money and time inside the United Center. Every five years, someone comes up with a grandiose plan to build a swanky food and amusement hall next to the stadium, but it never materializes.

The real Mecca of basketball, forget about Madison Square Garden. MSG dosn't have close to the same great recent history as the house that Jordan built. I might be a little bias as a Bulls fan though.

This arena has everything that a Bulls fan or just fan of basketball in general could want.
- Jordan statue
- Pippen statue
- Championship banners and retired numbers in the rafters
- Championship trophy showcase
- Best and probably most iconic introduction in sports
- Johnny Red Kerr statue
- Loyal fans that show up on time and sell out the arena and aren't bandwaggoners (miami heat)
- Decent food: chili frito dogs, deep dish, etc
- Live band playing in the halls
- Plenty of bars to grab a drink
- Clean
- Great energy and good vibes from the people attending and working there

Its not as nice as some new arenas like the Amway center but the energy and history are 2nd to none except maybe Boston. The area of the arena is in BFE but its easy to get to and from the city because there are buses just for the game.

If bball is your religion then its your duty to catch a game at the UC

Great venue for sports and concerts, they have angus burgers for $14, YAY!

Wait...

High level seats are tough to really see anything but hey, get a better job.

They are really good about getting traffic flowing, don't fall for the "easy out" parking lot upgrade though, its never easy in life buddy, get used to it.

Advice for visiting this venue, DO NOT PARK in the lots, park on ashland somewhere north or south and take the #9 Ashland bus. Then walk back, its an adventure!

When Rose comes back even stronger and healthier I will be there to watch him make Leburgers with a side of Wade fries and a big ol Bostrich shake. The Heat are going to lose to the Pacers. Or the Celtics, or themselves because Lebrick is a huge crybaby, whiner with no sense of how to make his teammates better.

There is a really nice park across Ashland called Union Park where you can play pickup basketball.

Having only been to Warriors games at Oracle Arena, this was something rather an experience to feel the difference when cheering on another team, and to cheer none of the Chicago Bulls. It was awesome to see the 6 NBA championship trophies displayed to the public outside of Section 118.

Though the crowd was awesome, I can see why they always say Warriors have one of the best if not the best fans in the NBA. Warriors sell out games no matter how bad they suck. Warriors fans express their thoughts to ANY and EVERY play making the game a bit more dramatic. However I can't judge too soon until I watch another team at then home venue. With the comparison I've described, the bulls fan didn't go nuts until the very very end when the Bulls had already locked up the win against the Pistons. I've got to say their freebies are much more appealing and the freebie group goes at it much more than what I've experience at Oracle Arena. A semi-automatic revolver to shoot out shirts? I haven't see that anywhere yet....

All in all, great atmosphere. I wonder how blackhawks games are....

I saw the Blackhawks play the Capitals here and man was that a fun game. The band was below us playing, the crowd was excited and the aisle vendors were SELLING BEER IN THE STANDS.

Great place to watch a game.

My online friend Dieter was visiting from Koln Germany and let me tell you something about guys from koln Germany, they dont know alot about chicago! He kept saying Michael Jordan and the Bulls so the first night that he flew in was a friday. He was so excited!!!!

He put on his Jordan shoes and Red 23 Michael Jordan jersey and off we went to the United Center to see Michael Jordan and the Bulls win the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Well you can imagine how mad we were when we got there and found out that the people of chicago bronzed Michael Jordan to save him forever and put him outside. And I was even more dumbfounded when I had to tell poor Dieter that the Bulls werent even good anymore! The stadium was half full and there were all these no name guys running around like Derrick Rose and Lebron James. Phhhhwww. What a joke!
I apologized all night but Dieter was really mad and the Bulls lost and he burned his jersey under the bronze statue of Jordan. I felt pretty bad so I bought Him a milkshake, and let me tell you that milkshake was pretty darn good, but man it cost alot.
