In the desert of food around the Medical district (options include the horrendously overpriced crap in the UIC Student Center cafeteria, pizza chains, or even more horrendously overpriced intrahospital food chains) it is very nice to have a Subway. Â Standardized enough to be reliable, open late for students and workers, halfway between my two jobs if I am working late and need to grab a bit (since everything else closes early), always fast and customizable. Â It's in locations like this that reliable affordable chains are appreciated.
Review Source:Tucked away in UIC's Student Center West is this very busy Subway. Â It's my little secret, that's not really a secret. Â Although it gets pretty busy, they're pretty efficient and move the line really fast...sometimes a little too fast - "excuse me, excuse me, I wanted cheese on that!" Â This is the only Subway I've been to where they have run out of bread and veggie patties....not sure if that was because of customer volume or bad planning. Â Nevertheless, it is the most conveniently located Subway to my job that is walking distance. Â If you're driving, I'd stay away as parking is scarce (unless you're a student and have student parking somewhere). Â
Overall, they do a pretty good job at making my choices of sandwiches. Â I tend not to stray away from my norm - but I like what I like, and they get it right, most of the time. Â There is a good amount of seating, but this place also houses one of the UIC cafeterias and a coffee shop so it can fill up really quickly during the lunch rush. Â
Customer service is A-OK, I suppose, like I said it gets really busy - no time to get to know the staff - just make the sammie and move on!
