This is not your typical bar food and it's not your typical bar. Â
The menu changes from time to time both to ensure that everything they serve is in season and sourced from a local vendor and to give their patrons a taste of something new. Â The arancini has a permanent place on my last meal on earth list, as does their Bolognese - on the arancini, on the fries, on anything they decide to put it on. Â
The place is intentionally not your typical Taylor Street spot and yet they are still kind enough to serve the mainstream. Â The beer list is superb and extensive. I've been to both brunch and dinner here on numerous occasions and I have yet to have anything less than a wonderful experience.
I've been here 100 times and hope to go back 100 more!!! Bar tenders and servers are all very knowledgeable and always updating me on new menu items. They just got in a local alcoholic root beer (10%!). It tastes just like a root beer! If you have a chance ask Will to do a green thumb shot with you!
The food was excellent, my girlfriend and I started with the mussels (a must anywhere we go, but they are always great here!!) and the pappardalle. WOW long fat strips of pappardalle (made in house of course) with the world's best BOLOGNESE SAUCE (EVER!) and topped with mascarpone. Ridiculously amazing, not too rich or over the top but perfect flavors and amount of mascarpone. The mussles were also particularly HUGE, I know that will vary at any restaurant but this was a huge bonus! we opted to split the Cioppino for an entree. The restaurant I currently work at has a Bouillabaisse and I was curious to see how their seafood stew was. It was excellent, great variety of seafood in a rich hearty tomato sauce just as I expected! I wouldn't recommend splitting this dish to anyone though, it was too good, I wanted it all to myself. We finished our meal with their version of Tiramisu. I don't particularly like sweets but I have enjoyed every single one of their homemade desserts. This was nothing short of amazing! You know how sometimes Tiramisu has that overbearring coffee flavor. This did not, it was perfect and the pistachios on top were excellent. We had a great dinner and I got to beat my girlfriend in pool (per usual) on the wayout. Awesome place/atmosphere/food/staff
