Not your average sub sandwich menu, lots of rich traditional Italian meats and some I've never heard of like capocollo and mortadella. Â I stuck with something I sorta knew, turkey pastrami. Â
The meat and cheese were cut to order for my sandwich. Â I went with a 6", which was plenty for me. Â They also have an 8". Â But compared to other sub shops like Subway, it's a small 6". Â What Conte Di Savoia lacks in girth, it makes up in meaty flavor.
The turkey pastrami takes my favorite deli meat to a whole 'nother level; a nice flavorful peppery rind, thin sliced but still juicy, piled on a fresh and soft but tough crusted bread. Â There was some cheese, lettuce, tomato and a little mayo in there too that just enhanced the rich flavors of the meat.
4 stars, strictly based on food...Conte Di Savoia has much better flavor in their subs without having to add all kinds of special/secret sauces that prematurely leak out while your trying to eat. Â This appears to be a case where size doesn't matter because the flavor is so big.
*Most 6" subs are around $4.50, 8" subs are about $5.25...depending on which meat you choose.
I usually don't go out and buy a sandwich since it's so easy for me to make myself at home, but Conte makes delish sandwiches that I can't replicate. My favorite is the Italian sub. Sub way, Jim John's and even Potbellies need to take some lessons from these sandwich makers. My only knock is that the sandwiches aren't big enough for my belly so I have to order 2.
