Not sure what happened, but I have been to this restaurant at least 4 or 5 times before tonight, but they fell flat today. Â I ordered the 3 meat platter, getting the sausage, brisket, and the chopped pork. Â First off, the chopped pork was cold, as in like it had been taken out of the refrigerator to be thawed sorta cold. Secondly, my brisket looked like one of those old women who are obsessed with tanning and are crafted from old boot leather. Â I am guessing it spent quite a lot of time under a heat lamp before it made it to my plate. Â The sausage was the only redeeming feature of my entire entree.
I wasn't the only one with similar issues. Â My father in law's chopped pork was cold, too (so we must have gotten ours from the same batch) and my mother in law's Urban Legend was luke warm. Â What made matters worse, the replacement she got for her original was also luke warm. Â Then the free deserts we got as a result of the terrible food was ICE COLD in the middle. Â If this had been some sort of ice cream that would be fine, but it was supposed to be apple crumb/brown betty and it was cold.
The final insult was our waitress, who continually seemed to be busy with everyone else but us, which is a shame since we tip really really well normally.
We went there this Monday for dinner and to drown our government shutdown sorrows. Â I have to say - this place has the best barbecue in the area. Â Will certainly go back. Â Great selection of local and craft brews, fantastic ribs, brisket, collard greens, and good (not great) service. Â Hell - it's a bunch of college kids, so I'm giving them a break. Â Otherwise, fantastic food and a great gem in Sandy Spring.
