Yikes, the sign says: Â Fast Wok: Â Chinese Gourmet
I walk in any ways, against my better judgement. Â First thing I see are 4 chairs and a table against the wall. Â Ok...this is just take out. Â Immediately I notice that it is hotter inside the restaurant than outside. Â Its 87 F today. Â The burners are going inside....but looks like they turned off the air conditioning to save money...and I am the only customer at 11:15 on a Saturday in the place......ut oh..........but
This is good basic Chinese food here. Â I hate to say cookbook Chinese but that is what it is. Â
I ordered take out kung pao chicken and broccoli beef with fried rice. Â The kung pao had a variety of chicken pieces from an inch to about the size of a grain of rice. Â Looked like left over chicken pieces to me....but it tasted ok. Â The peanuts were done correctly, quickly browned and crunchy ....placed over the top of the dish, not mixed in to get soggy. Â The broccoli beef was good nothing special. Â The egg roll and spring roll were predictable for a chinese restaurant. Â These are sold frozen and seems like every chinese place in Wash DC/Baltimore get it from the same distributor.
Overall, this is 4 stars for out in the middle of nowhere in Maryland and being a very good value for the price....3 stars if it was in Los Angeles. Â Â Â The prices are very very reasonable. Â $4.95 for lunch (one entree and rice) with egg roll. Â An egg roll in Wash DC by itself costs that.
A good place to get Chinese food if you have a hankering for some and are in the area. Â But not worth going out of your way or a drive over 10 miles.
