OK, I'm not about to criticize at length a cuisine to which I am totally unfamiliar.

My guest had a chicken wrap which (and I'm basing this critique on a single bite that was mostly bread) tasted pretty good.  Since the word "kabob" took up the majority of the restaurant's title, I decided to go with what I assumed was the establishment's money shot.

My lamb kabob consisted of six large, very lean chunks of the titular meat on a bed of two-tone rice.  The meat was completely juice-free with the only faint flavor coming from the exotic (to me) spices.  I'm sure chunks of overcooked beef with the house rub would have tasted exactly the same.

The rice, extra-long separate white and yellow grains that appeared to be stained with saffron, was as dry and tasteless as the meat.  The only real flavors in that meal came from the tomatoes in my small side salad and the nice fluffy disc of naan.

That said, I could be way off.  Maybe Afghan food is traditionally dry and tasteless. Or maybe I was supposed to cover everything with a thick layer of salt, or douse everything with that green spicy liquid in a plastic cup that I assumed was something to dip the bread in.

But there's one thing I will not bend on.  When serving a full meal, you should never accompany it with eating utensils that were designed to be used at a child's tea party with her dolls.  The cheap, half-scale plastic utensils and single tiny paper napkin was a real deal breaker.

To me, offering the cheapest available plasticware is just a big "Screw You" to the customers.  The very least the owner of Mimi's can do is dig deep in his pocket, withdraw a few dinars and replace the miniature napkins, spoons, forks and knives.

At least, give your customers a full-size spork, you cheapskate.

I love Mimi's. My favorites are, in order, the Reuben, Wings, Burger, then Cheesesteak. The Reuben is perfect. The Wings are good even without sauce. The burgers are huge and meaty. And the Cheesesteak, which I get with just meat, cheese and onions, the classic :), is top notch.

Front desk girl is extremely rude and has an attitude. The food is mediocre, no flavor what so ever! Stick to Maiwand Kabob, they know what they are doing. I ordered a chicken sandwich and the only thing they putt on it was a lettuce leaf and 2 tomatos with soggy bread and mayonnaise with a chicken breast, overcooked with no seasoning...Really this is a sandwich???? It was 8 bucks! I should have gone to Subway. Mimi's Owner is so nice but with all that food and no spices or effort, its a waste!
