I love VIBE. I wish I didn't live so far I'd come once a week. But I did go a few times and its one of the most classiest hookah bars to go to. The setting is really fancy and so are the tables and everything else. The food is also pretty good and so is the hookah, I definitely recommend coming here. It may seem pricy but the prices are the same at almost all hookah bars. The service is great and it's an awesome place.

This review has been a long time in coming.

I have been going to Vibe cafe since I lived right on Kester avenue in Sherman oaks practically next door. Until then my primary hookah experience had been the on and off trip over to cafe O in Burbank. While I'd hate to knock cafe O, which I also reviewed earlier, I have to admit that I have no intention of going to any hookah lounge other than Vibe.

    1. SERVICE. You will not find better service here. Period. The servers are fountains of personality. They are experts at reading a table's desire to dink around and have a good time or to just be left alone with food and hookah. There is no shortage of smiling, no shortage of laughter and no shortage of appreciation for your patronage. This is a decidedly awesome family atmosphere at this place. The owners are some of the most kind and generous people I have ever met.

    2. Family atmosphere. Loyalty is appreciated AND rewarded. Not that you get perks, but the more often you're there, they REMEMBER you. And that's awesome. They will remember your NAMES, they will remember your preferences of hookah and they will even remember what area of the restaurant you like to sit in, when you are someone who is in there all the time. It feels like coming home. This is the Mediterranean CHEERS, guys.

    3. You are SAFE. Not only are you safe, but the security guard Darby has got to be one of the coolest people on the face of the earth. Your life is seriously missing a link if you have not asked to be introduced to him. If he wonders why you asked to know who he was, tell him the crazy girls who come in all the time, one with the red hair, said that Darby is amazing, and everybody should know him. I am willing to accept the consequences of these actions.

    4. THE FOOD IS ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY FABULOUS. No seriously. It's not CHEAP, so watch yo'self, It can get pricey but it's worth it every time. I don't know what the hell awesomeness they put on their salads but it's amazing. And if you haven't tried some of the specials that may or may not be on the menu, your life is suffering greatly and it's no wonder you find yourself sad more than you used to.

    5. THE HOOKAH IS BETTER THAN MOST ANYWHERE. Period. Hookahs get harsh everywhere. Except when you smoke here. Because the only reason these hookahs go harsh is because a.) too much heat so take off or move coals, or b.) time for a refil. They are the only acceptable excuses for harsh hookah. ALSO here's a tip. If you go to this place and get a milk base in your hookah. Bonus! Extra charge but bonus. IF you get an apple or pineapple head ... ALSO bonus (though pineapple better for bigger groups) they now have these super scifi looking glass hookahs. And if you're one of the people who gets all snazzy with a milk base and fruit head on a regular hookah, you should try this sucker because it'll cost all of 10$ more than all your existing up charges.

    6. In general, your life as a hookah fan sucks without Vibe.

    That is all.

Came here twice. The first time was back in March when they were on probation and (I believe, for this very reason) the service was outstanding! I was very impressed! And the drinks were SO super strong I got drunk after just one!
Came back yesterday with a friend. Ordered 2 drinks and got a complimentary bowl of fried garbanzo beans, which seemed really nice to me (+1 star). Later we ordered hookah (which was pretty good: +1 star) and 2 more drinks - that's it! Here I should say that the drinks barely had ANY alcohol in them at all. But the bill killed the night for us - automatic 18% gratuity applied FOR TWO PEOPLE!!! SERIOUSLY?????? I heard this can be done for groups of 3 people and more - I have NEVER ever EVER heard about this being done to groups of TWO people!!! I don't think our server deserved 18% gratuity and I feel taken advantage of.
    NOT COMING BACK.

The service and atmosphere is good! I go regularly with my girlfriends.  At night it has a "casual lounge" vibe in all the right ways; romantic lighting, excellent service, full menu and bar. Music volume is just right and complimenting to your evening. And they do not put up with B.S. so you will enjoy your evening especially on a weekend. They care about quality.

IT CAN GET PRICEY IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL... plus they do include an 18% tip on the bill every time I've gone (Party of 3 was the smallest I've done). They do have a valet if you are not familiar with the area for street parking. Street parking has been good for me, but if I was alone I would valet. Always good to be safe.

Ohh what to say about Vibe Cafe? I was brought here by someone who was a friend at the time for a casual hookah after class not knowing that it would honestly change who and where I go to hang out with since that first visit.

I am a pretty heavy hookah smoker and I can state that Vibe Cafe is hands-down the best shisha in Southern California. Not only is the shisha ridiculously smooth I have had one bowl last over three hours without a refill. The charcoal guys make multiple rounds asking if everything is okay and fixes the hookah if it is too harsh. The food is amazing. My favorites on the menu are the BBQ Pita Pizza and the Feta Fries are addicting!

Vibe Cafe is on a completely different level than other lounges. They cater to their customers. I have averaged going to Vibe Cafe 2-3 times a week. The crowd differs between the week. In my opinion, Mondays are the best nights. Fridays and Saturdays have slightly more Arabi influence with the music and crowd but there is one thing that is for sure, you will always have smooth shisha, amazing service and really good food. Ever since I have been frequenting Vibe Cafe and decided to go to another lounge I always come out disappointed and complaining that it was not up to par with Vibe Cafe. That has since ended since I do not go anywhere else.

Ridiculous!!! They make u wait in line as if u're gonna go to a club in Hollywood. The hostess is sooo rude and will only let in the Saudis and Kuwaitis or Arabs like her.

I came to vibe cafe when it first opened, and have never once had a complaint. I was a regular customer since then. It has been a couple of months I haven't gone, only because it gets more and more crowded every week.

I made a reservation last night, and let me tell you, this is the BEST hookah spot in the area.

The service is so good, they leave you NO room to complain. Waiters and constantly checking up on you, refilling your drinks, and the owner makes every experience personable and friendly.

They have a full bar, the food is as good as the service, and the hookah is as good as the food, or vise versa.

Definitely make a reservation and you will not regret coming to Vibe.

I've been coming here since they first opened.

    Really chill place.
The hookah's good, the coffee is good, and what food I've tried (mostly apps) has been pretty good.

They recently got their liquor license so you can drink and smoke so that's a plus.

If you want to smoke AND drink, then this is the hookah bar for you.

Came here for a night out with some friends... I called in advance and reserved a table with no problem (even tho they had 5 other large parties there for the evening).  Valet is available up front for $7 or it's not too hard to find street parking.

It's small but really cozy place with an enclosed patio with heat lamps.  We ordered up lots of yummy appetizers like the Feta Fries, Pita Nachos, a suprsingly amazing Chinese chicken salad and the watermelon and Feta. Everything tasted delicious!!

They recently reinstated their alcohol license so that was awesome!  They offer mixed drinks and top shelf liquor.  Drinks were good and of course we had to order up some hookahs.  They have a long list of flavors and the waiters are very helpful in assisting with picking an option that best suits your flavor palette.

There is one big screen TV usually playing a sports game and background arabic music that is a decent volume enough to enjoy but still have a conversation without yelling.

One negative is that there is only two bathrooms, one for men and one for women so there tends to be a line by the bathroom.  Which really isn't a nice sight for the people who have tables nearby trying to enjoy their evening.

It definitely gets crowded in the evenings so i would recommend beating the rush and getting there a lil early.  This is a great place to enjoy a night out with friends.

Came here with some friends for hookah, grub and drinks. I totally loved this place. The food was fantastic we had Feta Fries, Nachos and this chicken salad that was a bit similar to a Chinese Chicken Salad. Super flavorful and good. The feta fries were by far my favorite thing - sooooo good! I highly recommend.

Drinks were tasty and the staff was very attentive. We got a couple of hookah's and they frequently came by to check on us and see if we needed more coals. They have a couple of types of hookah's to choose from. They mentioned that they are currently in a transition phase so some of the hookah flavors are unavailable as well as some of their menu items, but it didn't bother us as they had everything we wanted.

It definitely gets crowded in the evenings here so make reservations and come early.

Great spot to get together with freinds!

Im so shocked at the bad reviews.  This was by far the best service I've received at any hookah lounge.  Every server who passed our table (whether they were assigned to our table or not) asked how we were doing, if we needed charcoal, more tea, desert etc.
We had the feta fries, calamari, drinks, and carrot cake for desert (though I hear their fresh made crepes are really good).
The feta fries were so good.  The cheese was very different from regular cheese fries.  It was soft and airy, as opposed to thick and gooey.  The fries were well seasoned and crispy.  My favorite!
We also had the calamari. It could have used a little more seasoning and maybe less browning, but it was good also.
The hookahs were well made and lasted all night.

All together, (we were 5 people) we spent like $125 on 2 hookahs, 2 appetizers 2 deserts, and 5 drinks.  So it's pretty reasonably priced.

Let me not forget the atmosphere.  It was so refreshing to go to a hookah lounge not full of 18 year olds and bad hip hop.  The crowd seemed a little more relaxed and mature.  The place is very tasteful with the brick, the outdoor comfortable seating, and the luxurious tenting that add coziness without taking away that outdoor feel.

The owner was also very nice making sure to see if we needed anything and bringing drinks himself not just sitting in a corner pompously smoking with friends.  That was impressive.

We'll definitely be back, and I'd love to try some of the other dishes on the menu

Ended up here totally at random looking for a place to share a drink after dinner on a first date.  Had no idea it was a hookah lounge and had never done hookah before.

My date and I went with a delicious flight of white wines, in fact we did a round trip and enjoyed a second flight they were so good and we ended up staying so long.  Three hours from 8:30pm to 11:30pm passed in a flash as we shared each others company, enjoyed the "Vibe" and people watched.  Quite the eclectic crowd, but all very friendly.

The place was mostly empty when we arrived on a Tue night and by 10pm it was packed, not an empty table in the place.  Quite surprising to a week night.

    OK for the good:

-Our server was great with us as hookah "virgins" and recommended a great selection of white peach and raspberry.
-The staff was attentive and helpful in keeping our hookah going for us, it lasted more than two hours.
-The wine was very good, $15 for three full glasses in each flight.
-The music and atmosphere were excellent for getting to know someone new.

Ok, things to be aware of:

-This is Ventura Blvd so parking is a challenge at times, but the Bank and Grocery store on the corner just east of this place offer options.
-Yes the 18% surcharge I did not notice on the bill until I got home, and for a group of 2 this is an unusual addition.  I had already added a tip of more than 18% but was pleasantly surprised that when the charge was finalized on my credit card the extra tip was not there.  So they are not double dipping on tips, but they do end up cutting their staff short some times when excellent service such that we received is well rewarded.

Overall, my date and I had a great time on our new adventure both with one another as a 1st date as well as our 1st hookah experience.  We would both definitely come back again to try the food next time as well as maybe some other hookah flavors.

Go, have fun and maybe stick to earlier on a week night, at least until you become a regular if that is what it takes to get in on a weekend as some others have noted in their reviews.

(Note to management, you missed 5 stars here just because of the 18% surprise - either remove it or make it known up front.)

It's a nice place BUT there is NO WAY that I'm going back ! Never ever... The only reason that I'm giving this place 2 stars its because its a nice place but the waitresses kill everything ( BAD/ZERO costumer service ) and the food came late it was cold because the waitress forgot our order and the drinks it taste like water..... And the hookah I don't even wanna talk about it.
Over all it was waste of money an my time never going to come back.

Are you kidsing me? 9 person had food and hookah, tea and wine + tip only for $150. by the way dont miss the Macaroni. the lemon chicken garlic is very good too. service was 5 star and they are so nice and kind.
Dont worry about minimum charge of $15 per person. even if you are not willing to eat or drink, just order a food to go!

    Ok, this place is weird.

Everytime I go, there seems to be new people working there. The servers are never kind, always treat you like they are doing you a favor by taking your orders, and last Saturday night, I experienced the final straw- when our server was completely incompetent, rushed us for no reason, and then charged an 18% fee for no reason. When we tried to question why, she made up an excuse that made no sense. It wasn't until Darby, the bouncer, told us that the fee made no sense, and we should contact the owner. He brought the owner for us, and he didn't even apologize or make amends, he simply spat out "i'll take care of it" and walked away. Our incompetent server came back grudgingly with her head down and cheeks red with embarrassment to give us a correct check. No compensation whatsoever was made for the complete lack of professionalism or the attempt to bluntly rip us off.

I will not be returning, and do not recommend this place.

Kaffe Rouge is not far away, and they are A MILLION times better with a nicer place, and always outstanding service, better hookah, and incredible food. Go there instead.

Vibe cafe is hands down the best hookah/Mediterranean restaurant in town. I went there last week with my wife and man did she love it. Great service and food was delish! So many different cultures that come to that place, everyone wants to know what all the fuss is about. Also heard they have a new chef and the food is amazing more than before. The hookah is to die for. They have so many different flavors it's hard to choose but the staff always give me great ideas to mix flavors. The bar is amazing!!! How many hookah joints have bars??? Not many that I know of. Great job guys keep up the good work! I will be a very long time customer if they keep doing things the way they always do.

Came to this place for couples date night. All 8 of us thought the hookah was good and the patio location had a great summer lounge feel to it. Let's talk about the service though... Well we can't because we saw our waitress maybe twice. We were the first table when you walk in so you can't even miss us! She obviously was working other tables really hard (some sleazy guys that will give her a big tip) but anyways. Service is rude and they did not make us feel like we would like to come back. Go to The Spot, I much rather wait for a table at the Spot for 40 minutes then feel so uncomfortable at place that calls itself "vibe" cafe.

Been to Vibe several times, but after last night I'm never going back. My friend called vibe to inquire about a corkage fee as we wanted to bring two bottles of wine we had just purchased. we were told they do not have a liquor license, so we couldnt bring the wine. We get there only to see a full bar :/ I ordered a vodka tonic...wtf?

The food isnt the issue. Vibe has delicious food---although they were out of 6-7 items from their already small menu like main dishes inc lamb shanks etc. So, we order feta fries from the appetizer menu listed at $6.99, along with several other things.

We could never seem to get the attention of our waitress. She didn't check on us throughout meal, nor was she personable. Alas, we get the check. There were 3 of us. The bill was $81+. The feta fries listed at $6.99 on the menu were $14.99 on our bill. Who charges $15 for French fries??? Gtfoh...also, waitress had audacity to include 18% gratuity of $11.50 on a bill for 3 people? We would've tipped more if she hadn't done that. I have real issues with being charged drastically different fees than the menu lists---and the waitress never said anything about different prices either. Since when is gratuity included for less than 6 people?..

Terrible experience. Disappointed at staff and service. Cannot recommend. NEVER going back.

I've been inside before and it wasn't a bad experience. Tonight was a different story. They had this skeezy attitude girl outside sitting. She came from inside hopped up on her little stool and just stared at me and my boyfriend with a blank expression waiting for US to say something. Lack of customer service much?? Then I proceeded to tell her table for 2? She then replied- "we have a waiting list and its about 40 mins go get in." No thank you!

the reviews and pictures looked great.. my friend and i went to try it out.. we were the only ones there for dinner at the beginning of the evening, and the service was slow! Took a long time for the food, our waitress would disappear for long periods of time, no coke refill, and hailed someone down for our check.. now the food.. awful! i ordered the béchamel macaroni plate and it was dry, my friend ordered the souvlaki plate and it was dry.. we could not eat all of it and when we finally got the bil, the tip is already included!.. which if you drink and do not watch, you will be double tipping.. we will not be coming back. This is a honest and fair review of our experience.

My friends were very unhappy about the service.  It felt we were treated differently and ignored because we were not part of the inside clique that operates this place.  There is a lot of favoritism which makes local people like us not want to come here.

Most hookah lounges do not have a full bar so I was happy to find this place.  Inside is ok, but nothing special.  Decor could use some updating with nicer furnishings.  Not the place to impress a new date, but if you are going out w/friends and don't mind getting sub par service and being ignored, this place is ok.

This is an OKAY hookah bar... Came here several times.. Price is okay.. Only thing keeping this from 5 stars is food and service. Food is whatever not the best.. Too greasy and not much quality. Now lets get to the service. Very very slooww! Have to ask for refills and charcoal boys are never around unless u call them.

Hookah quality is okay.. Above par compared to other bars.. Full bar is a plus and music is good.

Will return here but service needs improvement

Came here the other night for a friends birthday party. I had sworn to myself that i would NEVER come here because it used to be the Wiener Factory and I was soooo bummed it was torn down for this place to pop up.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised! I liked the indoor/outdoor thing going on. Very sexy and chill atmosphere and ambiance. I like that they serve alcohol! I've never been to a hookah place that served alcohol.

I ordered the falafel plate...let's just say probably one of the best falafel I've ever had. What a surprise coming form a hookah joint!!! A friend ordered the feta fries and I gave those a try. OMG Amazing!!!! And the garlic sauce they have is addicting! So wow, great food! Who wouldathunkit???

I also really liked the hookah tips they hand out here too! They were so cool...!
Hookah was good, I didn't have my own. Kinda shared with a large party but from what I had I liked!

My only dislike was the service was painfully slow both in the kitchen and servers. It took forever to get the attention of the server who seemed to be waiting on the entire place by herself. They had a decent crowd for a Tuesday night so I'm surprised she was the only one. Other than that I definitely will be going back!!

You're better off going somewhere else. First off, don't even bother making a reservation. Just because you have a reservation doesn't mean you will get in. The wait outside can be up to an hour long. The owner pretends to be nice and he'll always tell you its only 15 min or "yeah, I'll find you something" while the whole time he is seating his friends and leaving you outside. Also, LOOK AT YOUR BILL. They will charge you an 18% gratuity even if its just two people. The servers are very kind but the service is really slow. There are a lot of hooka bars in Los Angeles, go to one where you won't have to be left in the cold (literally) while the "favorites" get pulled in.

Though I don't agree with their 18% gratuity included in the bill, this place is otherwise excellent.  I wish they would notify their customers of this ahead of time -- doesn't take much effort, does it?

The food is decent, especially for a hookah spot.  The portions are generous and the quality is fine.

The hookah is probably the best in town.

I definitely love their medieval entrance door with the center flap to check who's trying to enter.  "WHAT IS THY BIDDING?"

"Just some hookah and some Lebanese tea, dude."

Go for it, but be prepared for an 18% sneaky surprise mandatory "bonus" on the bill.

Vibe cafe is hands down the best hookah lounge in LA.

I can proudly say that I have been to many lounges, and this one tops it off.

They have delicious kebabs and salads. Their fries make me speechless.
Try the zaatar fries if you want to have something different.

The atmosphere is very cozy,  - somewhat medieval-ish, I love it!

The service is awesome, very friendly staff members always asking if everything is oka.

And of course the Hookah.  They have enough flavours to keep you coming back for more. It lasts a long time and does not burn fast like most hookah lounges.

They have great music, not too loud, good enough to have a conversation yet to have something in the background.

If you want to go out and have a relaxing night and have some amazing hookah, Vibe is the place!

You can valet or just park on the street, simple as that.

Always packed (it's that good) so make sure you call in advance!

We usually end up at Vibe, Sky, or Viceroy for hookah. Vibe has a great atmosphere as it's partially outdoors, but covered by a tent. Definitely a cool place with good food and a good selection of tobacco. The hookah is usually packed right and lasts a while, but there have been a few occasions where it has been alright.

Prices are fair and they have also just added a bar. Parking is not always that easy as it's only valet or street parking. They also have a nice projector screen where they usually show games.

I don't even know where to being with this place!!
Everything about Vibe Café is great!
I literally live right next to Hookah Lounge in Glendale but I much rather drive 25 minutes to go to Vibe.
The food is EXCELLENT.. the hookah lasts a VERY long time.. the staff is AMAZING, friendly and sexy!
If you ever have an issue with your food or hookah they will not question you and will try to take care of the situation.
Chinese chicken salad and they're traditional French fries are a must.
Rafik and Mina (the owners) are doing such a great job.. .
I have been going since they have opened and will continue going !
BY FAR the BEST hookah lounge I have ever been to!!
5 stars don't do you justice.

I like this place, but cannot say I love it just yet as I've been here only 3 times.
Sadly to say the service is generally always a miss as far as the female servers.

So why the 4 stars you might ask?... Well the food, dessert, and, tea here is always very good. I've heard good things about the feta cheese fries that I plan to try next time I am there :)

The coal guys always are on my hookahs head, if you know what I mean :) lol Basically I've never had a bad hookah here nor ever had to wait to long to get more coals. If I lived in the Valley I would frequent this place more often and most likely make this my regular spot for hookah and good late night food.

I say if you find yourself in the valley there are many hookah lounges along Ventura Blvd to pick, but I would definitely give this one a try first yelpers. The hookah and food are always good :)

Last, but not least the owner is seriously eye candy ;) In addition to very kind and helpful. He always tells me to god bless as I leave... Maybe, next time he will recite 7 digits hehe...

Probably my favorite hookah lounge in the valley! This place is charming, hip, and an all around fun place, and best of all, its mature and clean. They have a new bar which is also great, a bit pricey but if your just having 1 drink its ok.

    Food:
GOOD! lol, i love getting the homus sampler and the garlic fries
also, you cant go wrong with the skewers, super tasty and seems fresh.

I thikn its 2 brothers or cousins that run this place and do it well.

I love this place! From all the hookah lounges I have been to, it's safe to say that Vibe is my favorite!

I've been here a couple of times with groups of 4-5 people and have never been disappointed. The food is BOMB! The feta cheese fries are my favorite. Their deserts are pretty great too!

I also love the atmosphere here. The music isn't too low and isn't too loud either. It's perfect if you want to have a conversation with your friends. The place is not that big, small and cozy (which I really like) but it's always packed during weekends. The service is pretty great too!

As for parking, there's a shopping plaza right by this place. I park there and walk to Vibe. It's very convenient and free!

Overall, I highly recommend this place and will definitely keep going back.

I don't smoke hookah so let me say right-off-the-bat that this is based on their "non-hookah" related stuff.

So I came here Saturday night with a group of friends. The birthday girl decided to do Lazer Tag @ Ultrazone, and then bar hop from MAD BULL'S TAVERN to THE BARREL. At 2am someone in the group brought up this place or CRAVE CAFE and she choose VIBE CAFE. We got here at 2:30am... management said they'd stay open until 3:30am since there were about 5-6 different groups of ppl here.

    THE GOOD
    ----------------

The set-up was pretty nice. Inside the entrance it's pretty much an enclosed outdoors type feel which was pretty cool. Also the HEATLAMPS were flaming hot, which was a plus because it was a cold, Cold night!

~ ARMENIAN COFFEE - I didn't try it but was tempted to. I got the JASMINE TEA (decent) but my friends who got this ultra small SHOT-type of coffee blast loved it.

~ THE HOOKAH - I didn't smoke it but a few of my friends said it was pretty good. They liked the WHITE RASPBERRY flavor I think.

    THE BAD
    -------------

There wasn't much bad, just a lot of the.....

    ---------------
    THE UGLY
    ---------------

So we were all coming in different cars from 5 minutes away and naturally all arrived a few minutes apart. The server asked how many would be in our party since 3 of us sat down while 4 more went to the bathroom. We said probably 7-10 and he informed us there was a $12 MINIMUM PER PERSON. for parties of 5 or more.

Well I think like 30% of us didn't smoke hookah and I have no problem with him announcing their policy but he repeated it MULTIPLE TIMES. Like at least 3 times. All of our party (about 10-11 people) arrived within 20 minutes.

~ MORE UGLY - I ordered the BEEF SHISH KABOB SANDWICH... and it was pretty bad. At $11.99 you'd think you'd be getting some quality. The meat itself was good, awesome tenderness but not much. And the wrap was THE SMALLEST "wrap" I'd ever recieved anywhere. No joke.

Also the wrap had hardly anything in it in terms of ingredients. Price wasn't an issue for me so I had no problem shelling out $12 for something I could've got for $7 @ PITA KITCHEN down the street on Ventura BLVD.

~ Also I was going to order the CALAMARI but our waiter said: "uhm... I wouldn't do that." ...when I put in my order of Calamari with him. He said it wasn't very good. I asked him what he recommended and what some of thew more popular items were and I choose the BEEF SHISH KABOB based on his recommendation. Should've just taken my Calamari request... I can't imagine it would've been more disappointing.

~ THE FINALITY OF UGLY - When he brought us the bill he snidely commented: "you guys didn't reach our per person minimum but I talked to the manager and he said he'll let it slide THIS time but next time he won't."

We were $2.11 below their quota on a $100+ bill. -____-

    LASTING IMPRESSION
    --------------------------------

I really went in wanting to like this place.

Last year when they opened... the sent out fliers for 1/2 off any food item on their menu and the pictures of food displayed on their flier looked amazing. I even found the flier while going through old mail last week, hence me updating this review and adding this section and uploading the amazing looking flier to my pictures section on here. What I got was the exact opposite :-(

My wife and I have been here twice, including tonight. The greek salad is tasty, the waitstaff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the outdoor seating is pleasant. However we experienced an issue with the bill tonight that just gave us the creeps.

When I received the itemized bill at the end of our nice dinner it seemed a bit high. It took me a moment to realize that they had added an 18% tip. I can understand adding in gratuity for parties of 6 or more but it seems really weird to do it for two people. Since I was already planning on leaving an 18% tip I brushed it off as just a minor annoyance and gave our nice server my credit card. When she brought the check back with my card the itemized bill was no longer there for reference. The merchant copy receipt awaiting my signature had a tip and total line waiting to be filled out. Wait a second. Didn't you already slip in the gratuity? Now you're hoping that I didn't notice and that I'll add it in again? I'm just glad that I happened to look at the itemized bill otherwise I would have accidentally left a nearly 40% tip.

It's not the cost of the bill - which was reasonable - but rather the principle of not wanting to be taken advantage of.

I wonder how many other unsuspecting customers are going to get swindled with this con tonight.

It's really too bad; this place has a lot going for it. It's unfortunate that the apparent sneakiness of the management had to ruin it for us. If you are the manager and reading this I hope you can contact me to help me understand why you did this. Perhaps it was all a big mistake. I want to like you guys, I really do but at this time I don't think that we will be coming back.
