This dive-bar is a hidden gem nestled at the intersection of 270 & Manchester.

Some of my coworkers wanted to head here after the ole' 9:00-5:00 for some food and drinks on a weekday. I had seen this place but never been in and was excited to try it out.

When I walked in,  I instantly knew why they referred to it in its proper Italian name, The Villagio. It is decked out with beer trinkets and banners with a welcoming vibe.

Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The best thing about this place is the price. It's very cheap. My beer and burgers was probably around $6-7. Not only was my food cheap but it was an amazing burger (for the price)! Next time I go back I will order two.

I for sure recommend trying this place out. I wish there were more bars in this area.

I am looking forward to my next visit.

You know how to tell if a place is great - is count the number of times a person from 200 miles away returns.  I nearly stop every chance I pass through St. Louis.  The hamburgers evidently received high marks among the city burger joints at one point back in the 90's.  A friend turned me on to the place and I've become a raving fan ever since.  It's simple - it's almost like a "Cheers" atmosphere.  Just a local friendly pub with great burgers and fries.  Give this a try.

If you want a fantastic burger and waffle fries, this is the only place to go. Be prepared for styrofoam plates and plastic utensils - no frills, just great food.  Make sure to enter from the back parking lot. Everyone will know you're a "newbie" if you walk in through the front door.  The atmosphere is pure "dive" without being seedy.

Kids not exactly welcomed.  They need to be well behaved.  There are no games to keep them occupied.  Using the shuffleboard is a huge no-no for under 18.

The village bar is likely west county's preeminent dive bar.

The burgers are cooked on a griddle so they come out super juicy, the vinegar aroma from the chicken wings alone is enough to make your mouth water and the onion rings are solid as well.  You can't go wrong with the food nor the drinks.

You can find a decent variety including my go to dive bar beer, Busch Light in a can.

The entrance through the back of the restaurant also offers some allure to first time visitors thinking, "where am I?"  It also attracts a nice variety of patrons.

Always a good choice out west.

Des Peres, Kirkwood, Manchester, whatever icon.  Superdive that is only a gimmick away from being on Man vs Food, and I mean no disrespect by saying that.

This is a dark, come through the back, hidden gem next to the worlds biggest Cluster Fudge of an intersection (Manchester/270).  If only the MODOT geniuses could design an intersection as good as these guys can a burger!  Don't blink folks, or rubber neck looking for it.  You'll miss the place and end up swapping insurance cards with someone.  Newbies be prepared to do a flyby and re route.

Burgers are fantastic, pricey and al a cart, however very, very good.  Although its a true burger joint, they have onion rings that are insanely good, and their chili cheese fries... OH THEIR CHILI CHEESE FRIES!!!!  SOOOOO GOOOOOOOD.  I am a sucker for the CCF's, and the Village Bar not only has some good ones, but the portion you get is huge.  IMO it's big enough to be the average person's small meal, or two to share.

I had the cheese burger, and CCF's and was having trouble getting that last bite of burger down.

Very happy the smoking ban happened because prior to that I wouldn't go near the Village Bar.  Now I can enjoy my meal and look at the out of commission Smokeeter sitting next to the "Smoking Outside Only" sign.

Much better atmosphere without smoking.  Food is good.  Watched Blues game from the bar and chatted it up with 3 other sets of patrons.  Dining room has seating.  Good time.

This is one of those places I have driven by for years (assuming it has really been there for years) and never really noticed it.  I'm talking maybe 30 years I've been in the area.  Met a friend for lunch and the place was packed.  Old style bar/pub feel to me, lots of wood, that type and the food was very good (the cheeseburger) and the service friendly and quick.  A good place to meet up.

I have had the drinks here and they make them really, really strong! And don't order their sweet and sour, something in it doesn't taste very good.

After reading reviews a few weeks ago, when a was looking for a place to take my sister to lunch, i decided to bring my friend here for lunch.

there are complaints on here about the place being dark. it is not too bad. i have eaten in way worse looking places. The inside is actually pretty nice compared to other bars i have eaten in.

I got the meatball soup, the better burger with mushrooms and bacon added, and fries.  the soup was very good with 4 nice size meatballs in the bowl. You can tell the meatballs are not homemade, but the soup was still good. I liked the burger alot. i am not usually a burger person. i usually order a chicken sandwich. The fries were piping hot and the homemade ranch was a nice compliment for the fries. My friend ordered onion rings and they were very good also.

when we left there was a line going out the back door. i will return.

I love the burger here, second to Seamus Mcdaniel's and O'Connell's in this town. It's cheap, greasy, and tasty; the sides (fries and waffle fries) are fantastic too! If you love burgers, you definitely need to check it out.

Place looks cute from the outside, right next to a shop (forgot the shop's name). Parking is in the back. It looks like a townie bar inside, dark with cramped tables. I heard they banned smoking in 2011 which is great as last time I went it was smoky as hell in there, even for lunch!

I love this dive. Been too many times to count.

Incredible cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings, mushrooms. Beautifully cold beer.

Parking is easy when you get behind the buildings, like maybe by the barn.

    I-270 and Manchester. Who knew!!!!????

Go!! Don't worry about the wig shop or the flag shop. Just GOOOO!!!!!!

Do you ever get nostalgic for an old fashioned corner bar? You know the one with the ice cold draft, the game on the tv and the incredible grilled hamburgers? This is it! The building seems ancient, the decor is typical sports paraphrinalia and smart alec comments framed and posted behind the old fashioned bar. But for $10 bucks you get a draft beer, double cheese burger with everything and a side of fresh, hot fries!

Finally got around to making it to The Village Bar.
This was a Saturday night, and for some reason....we really had nothing going on (and we were short of funds) so I was going through my Yelp Bookmarks and noticed that I still haven't made it to this place.  I wasn't even that hungry, but the other reviewers and my memory of hearing them win a burger contest on the radio got my stomach growlin'.
The place is REALLY small, typical dive bar feel to it, but more on the friendly side.  They are located next to a wig shop (I know...right?) and there's this old barn in the parking lot.
They have the grill set up behind the bar so that you can see them cookin' the burgers right when you walk in....good plan!
The menu has quite the selection ....a lot more than you'd think by the look of the place.  We decided on the Better Burgers w/ mushrooms and swiss cheese.  I've eaten a mushroom/swiss burger all over this city, so I'm a bit of an expert.  The burgers were very juicy and seasoned just right, but I really think those kaiser rolls made this burger special.  I really hate to mention a chain restaurant, but they kinda reminded me of the mushroom/swiss from Culver's....only not as huge (which isn't always better).
We ordered the batter dipped mushroom just to try those as well.

Everything is very inexpensive as the other reviews stated....our burgers were like 5.00.  The mushrooms are 4.50 and our drinks were also 5.
Our waitress Debbie, was soo friendly and helpful and very prompt and polite...nice for a change.
They have a shuffle board in the corner so that was a lot of fun to watch people play.  The place is also smoke free....so no worries there.
If you're anywhere near 270 and Manchester....give this place a shot!!  Go on, live a little!

P.S. I would like to give it 5 stars for service, and food but have to take one away since it was kinda gross inside...lol.  Not that I really minded that a bit, I mean it IS a dive bar....why try to pretend?  But I'd hate to see this place w/ all the lights turned up and it can't compare to others who are small, old AND clean.

I just found the little place and I can say that soon I will become Norm from Cheers, well, not quite like Norm, but more or less a regular. This place is great. The food is awesome and of course the drinks, beer here, beer there, glass of wine over there, is about what you would expect in a small hole in the wall place. Though, one thing that is amazing is the price for everything. The food is cheap but that does not reflect the quality or the service. The beer, cheap, and its beer that everyone knows and expects to see at a St. Louis bar. The environment is neighborly and welcoming.

I highly recommend this place. Go out with a couple of friends, have some burgers and pitchers of beer. You'll have a great time.

There are 4 really good tasty burgers in the St Louis metro:

The Hilltop; Carl's Drive In; Cousin Hugo's and The Village Bar.

They are all excellent in their own right.  I wish it were closer to Soulard so I could drink excessive amounts of ice cold beer along with the juiciest, tastiest burgers, fresh buns and heavenly onion rings and not worry about driving home.  Not fair to the designated driver!

If you're a burger lover, try the places mentioned above and try to pick the best.  You'll have a hard time!

The punch is in the flavor, not the size.  I usually order 3 or 4 and take one home.

    Shuffleboard too!

This place is our office go to when we decide on going to happy hour.  We nicknamed it the Villagio.  Picture high class, picturesque Bellagio casino in Vegas..... Have it?  Good.... Now forget it because this place is exactly opposite of what you've just imagined.  It's a complete hole in the wall.  I used to be a very poor college kid so the 5 second rule used to be about a 10 minute rule but I won't even go there in this place.  Put that and the fact that the ventilation sucks, "that's right it sucks" (random caddyshack movie quote), but the Village is a great place to kick back and relax.  The beers are cheap and cold.  The food tastes like you were at a cookout and had your best friend manning the grill.  The service is friendly which is always nice.

The odd part about this place is that you never know who is going to be there.  Guys in suits?  Occasionally.  A regular passed out by 5:30?  Seen it.  Joe Schmoe grabbing a quick one on the way home?  You better believe it.  But then again that's what makes this place so fun.
