Ill just let everyone know that this review is based on cheese and wine.
I was meeting a young lady there for our "1st date", Â we wanted to sit outside to talk but the rainforest that is GA disallowed us to. Â So looking inside we were the first guests so we were sat immediately. Â Off to a good start!!! Â We start to talk and were approached in ample time by our waiting. Â Got us water and asked if we were ready for wine. Â I told him "we were chatting away and have not even looked". We got into conversation again and about 90 seconds later... "What are we thinking?" Â I asked my date what kind of wine she liked and we ordered 2 glasses of wine. Â ( The wine list is nice, too large for my taste.. I mean anyone can have a great wine list with a huge selection... I prefer short easy to follow wine program... )Moving on. Â The drinks come we continue to have great conversation.. Again the waiter comes over to get us to order. Â By this time I take a quick gander at the watch to see if we had really been there a long time. Â And it was 15 minutes with noone in the restaurant but us. Â I said we will take the cheese plate. Â Before the cheese even arrives he wants us to order entrees! Â I said no thanks we'd like to work on the cheese first. Â After this annoyance the rain stopped and we instantly decided that vin 25 was not where we wanted to continue our date. Â I was fully ready to have dinner, more wine, and entrees but not at the expense of being annoyed by the waiter and not being able to talk with a lady. Â We paid our tab and left. Â Went down to Salt and had a wonderful time!!!!!!
Looked forward to this restaurant and was a little disappointed. Wine was nice, cheese board tried a bit too hard to be unique. Smoked peach salad was entirely too smoky and obscured any flavor of the salad much less the peaches themselves. Tried the scallops and they were nicely done and a pasta dish with duck ham, generous to rate it mediocre. Chef circulated and received our feedback and was not very receptive to anything short of accolades. Will not be going back any time soon, if at all, too many better spots in Roswell for me to waste $125+ on for this type of experience.
Review Source:When I walked up to this place, I loved the outdoor patio scene and live music. Â Plus they had accessible parking, a definite perk for Roswell. Â The service was friendly. Â The menu was quite limited...The food was just okay, but the cheese platter was very good. We had the chicken with broccoli rabe and seared scallops with risotto. Â The entree came with literally two pieces of broccoli. Â The chicken was moist, but the sweet and sour sauce was pretty bad and had no flavor. Â The scallops were cooked fine, but not the best I've had. Â My husband said the risotto was very good. Â I didn't like the limited choice points in wine. Â The cheapest bottle of Chardonnay was $40. Â All in all, just okay for me, and the things I did like... I can find elsewhere. Â Sorry!
Review Source:With one exception, all of the food was outstanding.
We went here on a double-date with another couple, and we shared appetizers so I got tastes of them all - the artisanal cheese plate, the arrancinis, and the pork belly.
They were all good but the standout to me was the deep fried egg that came with the pork belly. I've never had a deep fried egg before, it was wonderful - crispy fried coating on the outside, well cooked egg white inside, and the yolk was still perfectly liquid.
I was contemplating the scallops, but since I'd had risotto in my appetizer I went with the flank steak instead. It was delicious and so were the fingerling potatoes. The portion size was good, filling but not huge.
Then came dessert - two of us got the candied bacon doughnuts. YUM! The sauces were great, the doughnuts were huge (I didn't even finish mine).
My friend ordered the "Chocolate Budino,Toasted Marshmallow, Brandied Graham Cracker ". When looking at the menu, she didn't know what a budino was so I looked it up on my phone. "Budino is a sweet Italian dish, usually rich and creamy like a custard or pudding". So it sounded like a creamy rich s'more... unfortunately the custard was SO salty (notice it doesn't say "salted" anywhere in the description) that it was inedible. The graham cracker tasted more like cardboard. So, dessert fail. But it happens. The waitress graciously took it away and off the bill.
We sat outside and it was a lovely night, I never saw the inside so can't comment on that but there was a fire pit and live background music, the patio has lots of lights strung up and it was just a very fun atmosphere. I will definitely be back :)
First of all, I have to say that this review is for dessert and wine only. If we ever go back for a full meal, I'll update the review.
We stopped at Vin 25 late one night as part of a wandering appetiser/snack date night. It was our last stop of the night and we had a couple of glasses of wine and shared the homemade peanut butter cup dessert.
The dessert was awesome - not too sweet, a nice proportion of peanut butter to chocolate, drizzled with caramel sauce. Absolutely perfect and just big enough for 2 people to share without being too much.
The wine was good and based on the recommendation of the server - so kudos to him.
We sat outside and enjoyed the warm evening. A heater was on, but at a nice distance away. Service outside was prompt and efficient, but not overbearing. (Sometimes when you sit outside you either get hovered over or ignored - we didn't get either.)
The price of the wine and the dessert were quite reasonable.
So as it stands a solid 4* and someday I would love to go back and try their Charcuterie and artisan cheese plates.
OMG the staff here are amazing. Could nt have been more helpful, or have given better service. We only had the appetizers, flat bread and meat plate, but that was enough to share between 4.
I love wine, but do not consider myself a wine buff, but the staff and owner were more than happy to educate us, in a non threatening , fun way.
Awesome atmosphere.
Cons...my husbands a beer drinker...no draft beer(:
I introduced my husband to Vin 25 tonight. We've been in the industry a long time & he's been a bit dis-illusionend of late. "No one even cares to cook a protein properly anymore", is the latest. I had a great first time & was hoping he would feel the same way. Vin 25 nailed it!!!
The service was superb. Never intrusive but knowledgeable with every question we had. The clams with Harissa were spiced nicely & we liked the lemon that came through. The risotto balls were just OK. The flavor & sauce were nice but were advertised as bacon & mushroom. There was no bacon or mushroom in any of them on the plate.
I got the smoked salmon flat bread with avocado, tomatoes, capers & aioli. Amazing!!! At first it seemed like a lot for one dish, but the favors married perfectly. They do make their flat bread in house & you can tell, so tasty. My husband got the lamb entree at medium rare. It came out on the plate rested & cut perfectly...& the correct temperature. Even after we got home he is still talking about the favors of the dish & it's simplicity.
We will be back & look forward to the next experience. Thank you!
Loved everything about this place; the location, the atmosphere, the service and especially the food. Â A very impressive addition to the hip Roswell area. Â I had the scallops and my friend had the flat-iron steak; both dishes were outstanding! Â I will definitely recommend Vin25 to anyone.
Review Source:What a delightful place! Â With very accommodating staff!!!
Four of us arrived early to start our cocktails, and we had planned to stay for dinner, which we did.  We started at the bar, and they were most accommodating in letting us try several wines before we ordered  full glass...and the pours are generous too. Most wines are about $9-10/glass, and the straight up vodka was only $5.
After a few wines, we sat down at a table for dinner. Â Baby wedge salad @ $6 (half portion) and fennel & Arugula salad @ $5 (again half portion) were both excellent!!
Osso bucco, scallops, and shrimp & grits, $20-26, were all delicious.
Birthday cake was waiting for us at home, so we passed on dessert.
Bottom line: I'll look forward to returning, for more of the same and new tastes!!!
Went with a friend to check this place during the week. Â It was not very crowded, but it was early in the week. Â I honestly thought this was more of a wine bar that did food, so was surprised to find a full (albeit, small) menu. Â First off, was a little disappointed in the wines by the glass list - thought it would be a little more extensive. Â Our waiter was great to let me taste a couple of different wines before making a selection. Â You must have the bacon arancini (fried risotto balls) - they were amazing. The cheese plate was good, but not great. Â We elected to skip salads and go on to the entree. Â The entree list was a little small, and on the pricey side ($20+). Â Maybe it is because I was expecting to go to a wine bar and have some great little plates like the arancini, not a $23 risotto with scallops. Â The entree was solid - not fantastic, but solid. Â Nice scallops, but the risotto was not as flavorful as the risotto in the appetizer. Â Portion was on the smaller side - it was fine for me, but men might go away hungry. Â Now dessert - ALL of it looked good but we settled on the chocolate peanut butter cup....my goodness that was fantastic! Â Loved the patio outside, nice atmosphere inside. Â The wine room looked like a great spot to do a private wine tasting, but was really small. Â Overall I thought this place was good, but maybe needs to tweak the menu a bit.
Review Source:I've heard such good things about this place and had to try it. Â My husband and I went early on a Friday night and the place was still quiet. Â By the time we left, it was filling up fast! Â First, the atmosphere is really cool. Â Modern, chic, yet homey and relaxed. Â The bar is beautiful and had lovely candles and backlighting (at least it looked that way from our 2 person round table in the window). Â The wait staff was great. Â Our waiter happily chatted with us, answered questions, described the menu in detail....all really great!
I asked the waiter which wine he would choose (by the glass) if he enjoyed both Pinot Noir and Cab. Â He told me his favorite and I went with it. Â It was a great choice! Â As this place is billed as a wine bar, I was hoping for some great wines, and they totally delivered. Â I like a Pinot that has heavy body and flavor but lighter on the acidity. Â This was exactly that. Â I had 2 glasses. Â We ordered the appetizer of bacon and mushroom fried risotto balls....the actual fancy name escapes me. Â It was fantastic! Â My husband had the scallops (melt in your mouth) and I had the pork chop (one of the best chops I've had, hands down). Â We finished with a salted peanut butter cup dessert that was TO DIE FOR. Â Seriously, part of me died that night. Â Probably the part that used to weigh less....ah, what are ya gonna do, right? Â It was totally worth it!!
We weren't at all rushed and sat and finished our wine (my husband had beer - they also have a nice craft beer selection) and nobody tried to shoo us out. Â Our waiter kept our water glasses full and was highly attentive, and we couldn't have asked for more.
The place was really filling up as we left, and the bar was already full. Â They have this cool "buy a card" thing for tasting select wines - it's like buying a gift card, then you insert it into the machine and it takes money off the card depending on the size of your pour. Â I have got to try this thing out! Â Looked super interesting. Â But then, I find wine pretty interesting, so maybe that's not a feature for everyone. Â For me, definitely worth it!
Can't wait to go back. Â Fantastic food, a great addition to Roswell....another winner!
We were excited to try Vin25 partly because we had heard good things about it and partly because it's in the newly revived historic Roswell area which we love so much. (As an aside, I LOVE having great dining options so close to home!)
We didn't have a reservation (on a Friday night - so smart, right?) so we sat at the end of the bar. We were looked at a few times but never greeted for a few minutes which seemed odd since there were two (maybe three) people behind the bar. We did get menus and water after waiting a few minutes.
We started with the "Bacon Is A Vegetable" Salad at the recommendation of our bartender (whose name escapes me and I apologize for that). Hubs liked it better than I did (and listen, I'll eat bacon anytime, anywhere). I thought it would be the best bacon-thing I'd ever put in my mouth, but it was a bit underwhelming. Essentially it's bacon three ways and not very much of it. Don't get me wrong -- it tastes good -- it's BACON after all -- but I wasn't bowled over by it and I really wanted to be. I guess I was left wanting a little more *swoon*.
For dinner, we shared the braised short ribs entree. I'm not remembering the side items at the moment, but the ribs weren't particularly tender. Typically with a braised meat of any kind, it cooks long enough to make it butter-tender and falling apart. This one wasn't, so perhaps it wasn't braised long enough?
We didn't opt to stay for dessert.
As for atmosphere, it's pretty inside, and if you had seen the place it was before (Mittie's Tea Room I believe) they did a complete makeover and it looks great. However, it's tiny inside (my guess is about 40 seats) and the patio looks like it would be a really nice place to dine in the warmer months. The only bummer about the atmosphere is that it was incredibly loud. Granted, it was a Friday night so I get that it's going to be busier and louder then, but given that lots of people dine on weekends who prefer a bit of a quieter place, it's good to know in advance. Yeah yeah I know, I'm old. :o)
Let me start out by saying that the meal was inbetween a  3.5 to 4 for me...but, our dining experience was 4 to 4.5...
My wife and I really enjoyed eating here...the experience was great and the staff made our time here really enjoyable and pleasant...we even had the chance to meet the owner Coop, and he & our server were really helpful in regards to making recommendations for wine & beer.  i had a glass of  one of their cabernet sauvignon from n. california and a craft beer on tap (2 of which were actually different from that which was listed on the menu)...I had to run up to the bar to make sure I was getting the right beer as I heard our server confirm a beer different than what I had asked for...
For food-- my wife and I had the Arancinis and Sappelo Island clams in San Marzano tomato sauce to start. Â The fennel and arugula salad to cleanse our palates. Â And as our main courses, my wife had the scallops w/ celery root risotto and I had the Boneless pork chops with root vegetables. Â Overall, I thought the food was good and tasty, but salty. Â A female staff other than our server came by to clear our plates after our starter courses and asked how our meal was, and we let her know that overall it was on the salty side. Â But the main courses (to me) still had a heavy hand w/ the salt. Â
The Arancinis were well cooked, but had a bit too much salt as they came out of the fryer. Â The clams were nice as well, but the sauce was too reduced, thick, and salty for my liking. Â The salad was nice and refreshing, and I thought the smoked chili coulis was an ingenious addition that played off nicely with the citrus. Â But the salad was a tad too dressed for me. Â The best part of our entree was the scallops. Â They were perfectly cooked and extremely tender. Â The risotto was nice and creamy (but again a tad salty for me...and I'm a salty guy!!). Â I was surprised that the menu had the risotto listed as a celery root risotto because I was excited to see a risotto made out of celery root, but it was actually made w/ short-grain rice. Â When I asked our server about it, he told me there was a celery root puree in there. Â I was anticipating one thing, and something other than I had hoped for was delivered; but still, it was a nicely composed dish. Â The pork chop was nice, but I thought a bit on the salty (again!) and dry side. Â I was actually surprised to see it presented carved b/c I don't know for how long it had rested. Â The root vegetables were nicely caramelized and seasoned and were an excellent pairing for the fall season. Â I just wished the pork were a bit more tender, and that there were more port apple sauce. Â I think the pork dish could have been better composed and executed, but it was still tasty.
I'd try Vin25 again as it's so close to our house. Â i wish there was a bit more of a deft hand w/ the seasoning. Â I don't know if the main executive chef was in the kitchen helping to send out the dishes, but I'm glad that Vin25 has been added to the Roswell food scene.
A friend and I happened to wander into this place when we were walking around Roswell late this summer, and what a wonderful accident!  I've been there two more times since, and the food and service will keep me coming back.  I was there with a group of six this Sat night, (note, like other reviewers have mentioned, they only take a res for 6+). They were absolutely slammed for dinner, but our waiter kept his cool, kept us happy, and our water and wine glasses full.  My pet peeve is restaurants who keep wanting to pour you $9 glasses of wine, but can't seem to keep the water glasses filled - Vin25 servers keep the water coming .  Wine selection is eclectic, as is the food.  My friends had the special of  a tender braised lamb dish, and I had one of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. Thank goodness i had to share the fried risotto balls, or I would have eaten them all myself.
They made a rather significant mistake on our bills (individual checks without hesitation, by the way), and comped our appetizers as apology for making us wait for the correction. Â We were having such a good time, and felt so well taken care of otherwise, we honestly didn't mind the wait. Â I don't remember the waiter's name, unfortunately, but he did a great job.
The restaurant is quite noisy, but there is heated seating on the simple, quiet, lovely patio, and I believe they have music occasionally on the patio as well. Â The building used to be a ladies' tea-house of all things, and has been completely renovated into a very modern, sleek, but somehow welcoming look.
The dining scene in Roswell just keeps getting better and better, and this is a great addition.
Vin 25 is a great find! Â Wonderful wine selection and a very nice dinner menu! Â Chef Rambo is crazy for bacon! Â We arrived a little early last night to check the place out since they don't accept reservations for less than 6. Â Although there is plenty of seating outside, we opted to take a table inside and enjoy a cocktail waiting for our guests who arrived at 7:00 p.m. Â Thanks to Sara, Coop and our server, Aaron for a great evening! Â Wonderful wines to choose from and a surprising dinner menu that won't disappoint. Â Truly a fabulous experience, right through the dessert course! Â Can't wait to come back again!
Review Source:All around great experience at Vin25 last night. The staff is very knowledgeable about the wine list and pairings with menu items. Â I had the braised short rib with carmelized brussel sprouts and it was the best meal I have had in a long time. My friends ordered the scallops with risotto and were equally impressed with the taste and quality of the food. Â This is a great restaurant for girls night out or date night. Â You must try the pumpkin and bacon donuts for dessert...to die for. Â Thanks Vin25 for making girls night out a memorable one. I can't wait to come back.
Review Source:Fabulous/classy find in Roswell!!! Vin25 does not accept reservations for parties under 6 but we were pleased when greeted by owner Sara Cooper on Saturday night at 7:30 with our name on the preferred seating list. We didn't have to wait long for our table which was located in front of the fireplace hearth that was decorated with a row of votive candles and trendy decor. Best table in the house! Â
Server was attentive and knowledgeable about entree ingredients. Offering small tastes from their wine list is so helpful to those who are not wine connoisseurs. We started our dining experience with the mushroom bacon risotto arancini. My husband had the lamb bone in special and I had the sea scallops. The lamb was deliciously moist and fell off the bone. My scallops were seared to perfection and the flavor from the risotto and bacon blended nicely. We ended the evening by trying the pumpkin spiced doughnuts. About 6 balls of fried goodness served with a small helping of homemade vanilla bean ice cream and a raspberry/chocolate sauce was devine!!! I never eat doughnuts but was convinced to try the house favorite and was not disappointed. This place will truly stand out from the other establishments.!!
I've eaten here twice in the past couple weeks and it's a pure joy - what a wonderful addition to Roswell, which already has numerous great places to eat. Â This place is tucked away on a side street so it's lovely to eat outside since there is little traffic. Â They have done a fabulous job of creating comfortable and sophisticated inside and outside seating areas. Their service is attentive from the wait staff to the owner/hostess. Â Everyone makes sure your needs are met. Â The menu is small but creative and enough off the norm to be interesting. Â We had their shrimp and grits and grilled scallops - both dishes were very good. Â Because it was my birthday, they offered me a complimentary dessert - we shared their bananas foster - which was really really good - like chocolate mouse, caramel and cooked bananas all mixed together - yum!!!! Thanks for coming to our town and we wish you years of success!!!
Review Source:Roswell's newest and maybe best! I went here with some friends last night to celebrate a Birthday, and do not think we could have picked a better place. Vin25 has a cozy intimate feel, and the service, the food and drinks were outstanding.
We ordered several apps and entrees, and each one was better than the last. Â We topped the night off with a dessert tray that was to die for. Â The chocolate - peanut butter cup was one of the best desserts I have ever had.
The waitstaff was attentive and accommodating, and the owner came by several times to make sure things were going well (they were.) Â
I just think that in addition to phenomenal food, the place has great energy. Â It's not cheap, by any means, but its reasonable for what you get, & worth every cent in my opinion. It is tucked away on a side street (Plum Tree Street,) where Mitties Tea Room used to be.
Vin25 is a great addition to the Roswell food scene and a must try!
I was extremely impressed with the quality and taste of the food, The wine tasting was beyond belief and the good time we were having, became a great time.
The owner and staff were so polite and knowledgeable, friendly and helpful; They really do know how to treat their customers, because I know I will be going back, with more friends next time.
What a great addition to Roswell. Tucked away on a side street, Vin 25 has it all. A beautiful historic building, with an updated rustic feel. A great place for dining under the stars on a cool fall night. The food is amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious! A huge wine list. I had better stop here... the other locals are going to be mad at me for giving away our little secret.
Review Source:My daughter and I had previously 'lucked into' Vin25 on its opening night, and loved it! Â So last might my wife and I thought we'd check out how it held up on a Friday night at the end of its first week. Â I'm delighted to say - exceptionally well! Â
We sat outside - the terrace is nicely set up and a great way to avoid the noise level inside. Â (Regrettably, in common with many restaurants nowadays, and it seems all of the Roswell culinary delights, the noise level inside can be distracting, unless you happen to be with a group that can rise above the ambient noise.)
The service and attention were, again, superb, beginning with our waiter not only remembering my name, but also the exact cocktail (even to the brand of bourbon!) I'd ordered on my opening night visit. Â The food, though the menu is limited, is excellent - sensible portions ideal for sharing, created by an innovative chef and beautifully cooked and served. Â
Owner "Coop" was very much in attendance and was happy to talk about his plans for keeping the menu fresh - an important aspect to keep locals such as us coming back time and time again.
Roswell has become a gourmand's delight - great news for us locals, but a challenge for new restaurants, especially those not on the main Canton Street drag. Â New restaurants have to rise above the high standard to 'make it' - and Vin25 is off to a fabulous start! Â Looking forward to our next visit!
Can't say enough good about this place. Â Went there last night with so friends and every aspect of this place is great. Â The restaurant itself is very nice, well set up from the patio to the inside. Â Very nice selection of wines for everyone. Â Excellent wait staff, friendly owner, and most important the food was top notch. Â My friend and I decided to try a little of everything, started with the cheesy bacony rice balls (mmmmmm, bacon) and the meat and cheese plate, then tried the filet chops, and then pork chops and flat iron steak, finally we finished with the best panna cotta ever, donut holes, and gingerbread (also with bacon). From start to finish everything was excellent. Â If they are this good on day 2, I can't wait to see how this place evolves.
Review Source:Vin25 opened for the monthly Live at 5 Roswell event on 08/16/2012. Â They will have limited openings for a few more weeks until things are in full swing. Â From their first night, it looks like a home run! Â The place was lively and bustling with lots of people there to eat, and a large number just hanging out. Â The place is very inviting and the atmosphere fitting for a wine bar. Â The opening night menu was impressive. Â There was seating inside and out (with several chairs to sit and just enjoy the wine and soak up the Roswell crowd scene).
I started with a glass of Sanford 'Flor de Campo' Pinto Noir, then moved on to the food. Â The limited menu had four items and I tried the following:
the sliced Prosciutoo, Bresaola, Fennel Salami and Pommery Mustard plate
the Wine Braised Short Rib with Creamy Grits and Grafton Village Smoke Cheddar
the Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit and Blueberry.
I finished it all off with a glass of Davis Bynum Chardonnay.
The food was all spectacular, but the short rib was the star of the evening. Â The savory grits (with a touch of star anise) complemented the rib perfectly and with the first bite I was hooked. Â It was comfort food at it's finest, with a moderm and upbeat feel. Â I hope this makes it's way to the full menu someday.
While this was an 'opening' limited menu, I was told it will expand greatly. Â It seems they will be changing up the menu (both wine and food) to bring some variety to the Roswell Dining scene!! Â
Put this on your 'must try' list!
