Had a wonderful meal and enjoyable evening. I had the swordfish special, very good. My daughter had the seared scallops which were wonderful. We had the stuffed artichoke appetizer which was out of this world. The service was wonderful. Both the waitress and the hostess were very attentive.

Went here for Mother's day with my family with high hopes. This place is a local http://relic.It needs serious updating and cleaning. Right off the bat; The smell. It smells like old people and fake plants.{A word to the owner: Get rid of the fake grapes and plants-they collect dust and dust smells bad), We were seated toward the back of the restaurant. We sat at the round booth and had to sit strategically as to not sink down. This seating needs to be re-stuffed or replaced, very uncomfortable. The waitress wes very pleasant, attentive and an asset to the restaurant, however, she thought that "warming up" the coffee meant taking it out back and microwaving it! (We thought this was cute, she just needs more training), Everything on the special menu was overpriced (We were told on the phone that there was an open menu for Mother's day),The cheapest dish was around $17.00 for a pasta dish with no salad included! meals went all the way up to $30.00!! I ordered the chicken picata. There was only 3 peices of tenderloin on the plate, They use jumbo capers (why?) and it was obvious from tasting it that the entire jar of capers juice and all was dumped on my one dish of picata- so salty I could not finish it, also the wine was not reduced enough. there were no small meal options for my kids(Just old enough to miss the kids menu choices) so the bill was huge, and I didn't even order a glass of wine. The other dishes were http://o.k.it is hard to mess up chicken parm after all, and they do give you a lot of food. In today's economy I would recommend cutting back on the portion sizes and presenting the customers with reasonably priced dishes and INCLUDE a salad! One good note was the desserts, however, our apple crostada crust was a little undercooked. If a restaurant charges a lot because they think they are gourmet, I believe they need to go all out: appearance, updated menu, attention to detail and give people something for their hard earned $$. Vin and Eddie's did not come through.

We came here for my cousin's birthday. There were about 10 of us, so we sat towards the back of the restaurant at a larger table. The restaurant is considers themselves to be more 'upscale' and I'll admit, probably wasn't a good choice for our group of people (we're fun, loud, and sometimes we cause a scene). The service was alright, not spectacular, not spot on. There were a few times we had had to ask multiple times for things like bread, drinks, etc. A member of our party had to wait longer for their food and it's so weird when stuff like that happens because you're sitting there debating on whether you should eat while they sit there or be respectful and wait and let your food get cold.

The manager was coming around and asking other tables how their food was, welp... it's a good thing that she got caught up in a conversation at the table right before ours because I think she would have heard an earful from my cousins about how it was so bad.

We were here recently with a group for a birthday party.
Service was great. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The food however was a big miss. Everyone at the table left disappointed. I ordered raviolis, they were the thinnest raviolis I have ever had. They were basically overcooked noodles with no filling that were falling apart.
The owner came by to talk extensively to the table next to us. I was hoping she would stop by our table but didn't bother.
I was really disappointed in this place. i wouldn't come back even for the free meal they offer you on your birthday.

First of all, I would like to give this place the benefit of the doubt - we went on Valentine's Day and it was very very busy. I tried calling for reservations a week before but they said they didn't take reservations for parties less than 6. We arrive and had to wait about an hour to be seated, which was no big deal. The lighting was a bit dim for my taste. The food was okay, however I would like to point out that it appeared to be something that was pre-made and could have been covered with plastic wrap and left under a light to stay warm. The server we had was also not very attentive as we kept asking for new drinks and only got them 10 minutes too late. Again, I want to emphasize that this night was busy, but I would assume that to be no excuse for any dining experience. Prices were reasonable, and I would say all-in-all, nice place to eat. I will have to come check it out on a day that won't be busy.

Went there tonight and ordered the special as entrees - Pear salad on bibb lettuce with pears, bleu cheese and pingola nuts with balsamic dressing, and my sister ordered the same, but with grilled shrimp on hers. The waitress came back and said there was only enough bibb lettuce to make one pear salad and so offered spinach as a substitute on my sister's salad. It was only 6:00 and they ran out of the main ingredient for tonight's special, that just sounds crazy.

The wait for the food was brutal, about an hour and I was presented with a pile of romaine lettuce with pear slices and goat cheese. No dressing. No nuts. I don't like goat cheese. I said I didn't want the romaine, and they took it away, then came back with the same salad saying there was no more spinach, and offered to substitute a strawberry salad, but I don't know why they did because there was no spinach to make it with. We had waited so long, I was just too fed up to put in an order for another meal. I had to ask for dressing, and they put containers of balsamic vinegar and oil on the table, I guess I was supposed to mix it myself. And I asked for the nuts which had also been left off my sister's salad. They served my brother's seafood platter to him without giving him a fork, and forgot my mom's baked potato.

All though this ordeal, the waitress was extremely gracious, pleasant and professional, and then we did all split a cake for dessert. All in all for all the horrible mixup, the aweful salad that made me sick to my stomach, they took the cost of the forgotten baked potato and even charged for the salad. They didn't even offer us the cake for free! I would never, ever, ever, go back there. It was just an aweful waste of money and time. Not much to enjoy about going there.

I was very pleased! Our first attempted going there was so busy, it was a 45 mins wait - but becasue we had our 3 year old with us, we obviously had to leave. So we decided to come back on a random weeknight. (Cause I was certained it was packed for a reason!)

When we walked in - we were greeted by a very nice lady, she was talking to our daughter, asking her name and age. Then she offered her a whole coloring book along with a box of 24 crayons (not just 3 or 4 crayons at a typical restaurant). The hostess then took us to our table. The restaurant was section into different rooms, which I thought that was a very unique aspect of the environment. The menu was nothing spectacular, typical Chicken and Eggplant Parm...something with Lobsters and seafood. However, the taste of the food was absolutely amazing! The pasta seem like it was homemade, it was doughy and so flavorful. Also you get assorted bread with bread sticks and very delicious touch of whipped butter. The food could be a little pricey - but in my opinion, you get what you pay for! On the other hand, their Sangria was only $6.50, I am not sure if that was the deal of the day...but normally at other restaurants Sangrias go for $10 a glass. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say. Great location, parking lot available, great staffs, great service, awesome food and drink, and kid-friendly too.

A brief review--just highlights.

This used to be our "go-to" restaurant, but times changed. GLAD we went back!

Onion rings tied with OYSTERS of Marshfield for BEST I've ever had. Had a couple from my BFFs seafood plate order.

My entre was the shrimp scampi. the shrimp were large and tasty. The pasta was DIE-FOR! buttery and garlicky.

DEFinately ret urning to try again!

Great Italian food. Been coming here for many years. Surprised at some of the bad reviews. Never had a bad meal. Chicken saltimbocca, lobster bisque, prime rib...are great dishes. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and good service. Dessert is excellent also...ice cream is even homemade.

We used to order take out from here as we live close-by. We never order in as the atmosphere inside is not really to our liking, it just all seems very outdated. We save our dinners out for the North End and Seaport District. But for take out on a weeknight, it was serviceable and sometimes even quite good. However, lately both the service and quality has declined. The sauce is incredibly salty now and their eggplant dish, which used to be terrific, is now hit or miss, and sometimes actually inedible, the eggplant cut so thick it's barely cooked in the middle and the sauce was loaded with seeds. Even a home cook knows the key to good eggplant is to slice it very thin. Their chicken is also nothing to write home about. I tried their fried seafood dish once and it was bland and unremarkable. And we were treated quite rudely the last time we placed an order there, and when we complained, the manager refused to speak to us. They've been in business forever but if they continue to disrespect their customers they won't be for very much longer.

I have been to many Restaurants and I have never had anyone pick my food off the floor. I ordered a take out, when I got to the Restaurant the girl picked my food off of the floor and handed it to me. Alls I can say is I lost my appetite right away. Discus ting, gross, and yuck. I will never order from them every again. By the way they use so much salt you can de-Ice a road with the food. Of course I canceled the order NEVER AGAIN YUCK.

Just got a message in my in box from someone who enjoys eating food from the floor. The two minute rule is a bacterial infection waiting to happen. I'm sure my food was on the floor long enough to merit a review from the Abington Health Department!

I heard great reviews of this place from some of my friends, so I wanted to check it out with my husband, the looks of this place is very deceiving on the outside, looks like a regular house that was converted to a commercial space, but when you walk in the place is pretty big. It has a function room for private parties like for a bridal or baby shower. Nice bar area, and about 3 different rooms for dining. Nice padded, table cloth tables too

They offer 3 different kinds of Focaccia bread as a start, enough for ever how many in your party.

We started with the Caprese Salad to share-Fresh Mozzarella Cheese on a Beefsteak Tomato with Fresh Basil with a Balsamic Vinegar glaze
I also got the Soup of the day- Lobster & Corn Chowder-I couldn't believe all the lobster that I got in this cup of soup-The soup was exceptional sweet, as it was cooked w/ Roasted Native Sweet Corn from a local farm.

Our entrees were Veal Cutlet Parmigiana with linguini (his), which I was told was very good, a
I got the Veal Scalloppine, which included shrimp, artichokes & lemon white wine sauce over angel hair, the Veal and Shrimp was perfectly cooked, the pasta was al dente and we also got 1 meatball to split and try.
I usually can determine how good an Italian restaurant is by their meatballs; well this 1 meatball was huge, a little garlicky but not overpowering & delicious!

Our waitress Robin was wonderful, very attentive and making great recommendations. The next time I come I will definitely try to ask for her again, she was that great.

They also have an extensive Gluten Free menu too.

This place is a winner!

Having an Italian wife, we don't venture into these restaurants often. On a whim, tried this. Slow Sunday night. Nice bottle of Chianti. Pretty good wine choices. Terrible beer choices. We had the strawberry & feta salad. Huge and pretty good. A fig, prosciutto and balsamic app was very good. I had the veal Marsala and thought it was a little better than average. My wife had the eggplant parm and thought the sauce was terrible ( seeds, a quick sauce at best). Wicked average. Had two different banana deserts and were quite impressed. Homemade and gooood! The service was pretty slow for a slow night. Had a good time and would go back and skip the entree.

Nice Italian place on the South Shore. Good menu with many varieties. The pear salad with Gorgonzola and walnuts and balsamic vinegar is truly excellent. Another favorite is the stuffed artichoke hearts appetizer. They're stuffed with goat cheese and some pesto. Very tasty. The menu is diverse. Very good meat, seafood and Italian dishes. They always seem to have nice specials as well. I would recommend Vin and Eddies.

My boyfriend and I called ahead before arriving at Vin & Eddie's, and the hostess recognized us as the callers right away. We were led to a table where two glasses of water were already prepared for us. Our waitress was excellent and very attentive to our needs. My boyfriend and I shared the '03 Firmadu, Umberto Soletta, Sardenia ($40), which was a great accompaniment to our entrees. We would definitely order that bottle again.

For an appetizer, we had the Escargots with garlic butter in the biggest shells I've seen for an appetizer. The butter was great for dipping our bread into, too. I had the Chicken Scalloppine lemon, white wine & spinach over angel hair, and it was delicious. The pasta was cooked well, and the chicken was moist.

I was happy with our visit to Vin & Eddie's, and I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to try this place! The food is very good, and the prices are fair. Hopefully, I'll be returning soon.

Vin & Eddie's is our "go to" restaurant. Whenever we're going out and can't decide what we're in the mood for...it's off to Abington. The three of us (mom, dad & daughter) have never had a bad meal there. Combined, we've probably had just about every menu offering and never a complaint. The fresh breads with olives and oil are a great beginning. We enjoy those with a glass of wine as we look over the menu (not that we don't know it by heart!). The waitstaff is 'the best', a very outgoing bunch! Good food, good people and good prices!!!

I have been going to this restaurant for a good 10 years at least once a month. My wife and I always sit at the bar so I can't speak to the service elsewhere but the bar service is always great. I have never had a bad meal. My favorites include the escarole soup, rack of lamb and veal parm.

We love Vin & Eddie's. We've probably been in 10 times a year for over a decade. We've got to know all the waitstaff and they treat our daughter like royalty. Great authentic Italian food, I recommend the linguine with red clam sauce and save some bread for dipping afterwards. What could they do better, reserve us our own table, just kidding. Great restaurant!

we went sat night and was so excited to find such a good restaurant so close. dont have to go to boston to get good food! the service was as good as the food, just a great friendly atmosphere! i had clams casino, the best i have ever had.other apps at the table included raw oysters, homemade lobster ravioli (yummy and loaded w/ lobster) and a pear salad w/ gorgonzola cheese & pine nuts. they were all very good and the salad was big enough for the table to share! we had a real variety for entrees which included pork chops w/ vinegar peppers, a sirloin steak that was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth and the best chicken parmigian i have ever tasted. we were so full no one wanted dessert but our waitress talked us into sharing one. we had a delicious apple dessert that was served w/ the best vanilla bean ice cream that they make there! it was 1 of the best restaurant experiences i have ever had and have already decided to become a regular visitor!

The Details: Party of four around 7PM on a Saturday night. They only take reservations for 6 or more on Saturday nights.

The Good: The food was good solid Italian fare. They were heavy handed with the garlic which isn't a problem for me but could be for others. Good selection of wines, full bar and something for everyone on the menu.

The Bad: The service is not good. We go put our name in head to the bar which is very small. The bar tender refused to make eye contact with anyone in our party for 10 minutes. After we got our drinks we hung out until the table was ready which was about 25 minutes. I send everyone to the table so I can take care of the bar tab. Now the bartender is no where to be found. Other wait staff are scrambling around behind the bar to grab drinks for their tables. I ask one of them if I can pay my tab and they said the bartender had to cash me out. So I wait. When he finally shows he's all exasperated and gives me the "yeah I know" attitude. I pay, he gets a smaller tip.

At dinner the service doesn't shine either. Our party was talking and enjoying ourselves. We had picked out a couple of appetizers but hadn't gotten to main courses when the waitress asked if we were ready. We said we'd like to put in the appetizer and could she please come back in 5-10 minutes and we'd be ready. She refuses. She says she'll help us pick and we'll do it all now or she'll come back when we are ready and then she'll take the entire order at that time. No, I'm not kidding. She thought she was being cute, buddying up to everyone to help them pick. Meanwhile...not happy. We order...she walks away without asking if anyone needs another drink while there are empties on the table. I call her back to please fill drink orders where need be. She comes back with the drinks but then leaves the empty glasses on the table. The bugs the crap out of me. The happens for another round and the table is now full.

Did I mention that it was steady in there but not packed? The staff seemed to be running crazy but nothing was getting done. I guess I could get over it as the food was pretty good..but then again there are plenty of other places with food on par with V&E's AND they have good service.

I have been to this place numerous times with family and now have converted to going on date here. This place is great! The decor is a little outdated and the clientel is bluehaired and old but the food is always excellent and so isn't the service. I love the steak and tomato salad as well as the huge meatballs and ravoli. If you don't mind dining with the early bird crowd, please come and enjoy probably the best Italian food south of the city.

We used to go years ago, probably like 20 years ago. Went the other night, same carpet, same booths, same waitresses. The food is pretty good but for the price they could do better And come on now you need to update the atmosphere. And believe it or not the same grouchy waitress that used to wait on us 20 years ago was still there. She must be family it's the only reason they would keep a waitress like her around. Honestly go to Ecco's in Weymouth, better food, atmosphere and most certainly better waitstaff.

I think this is a good place for old people. They seemed to be the main clientele. I've been there a couple times and thought the decor was so outdated. The food was not memorable. I didn't love it or hate it. We sat in a booth, and I've never been so uncomfortable at a restaurant. The seat was broken or something. My back was killing me by the end of dinner. I'm not planning on going back.

Excellent food all-around. Probably the best overall restaurant south of the city. Never been disappointed with the food. The layout of the restaurant is a little quirky and small, it was clearly converted from an old house, which isn't a bad thing, it just feels small in spots. But it can easily accommodate larger parties with a call ahead. Very friendly and comforting waitstaff.

Now we're talking Italiano!

This is not your typical Italian Restaurant. You could never eat here once, it is sure to become a favorite.

The food is unbelievably delicious. The variety of the menu, makes you want to come back the next day. Everything is prepared on the premises fresh daily. Vin & Eddie's has been family owned and operated for fifty four years.

They have won many awards and were one of the first to introduce a wine bar. From the superb appetizers to the sauces to the entrees to the homemade desserts, each will leave a lasting memory, until you go back for more!

I have dined here, many times. Actually, since finding them years ago, I have yet to repeat this experience in any other Italian Ristorante.

They are famous for their very extensive Wine Bar, where you can have a taste or glass. They are recognized as having one of the top Wine selections in the nation.

They make their own calamari which is lightly breaded, fried and then served with a garlic anchovy dipping sauce. The braised short ribs served over the gorganzola polenta is a real winner and they serve escargot which I adore.

They must have fifteen different appetizers, soups and salads. I love the lobster bisque and the escarole with meatballs is great on a cold day.

Some of the pasta is homemade, including the raviolis and the rest is imported, but all of their sauces are from scratch. The chicken saltimboca with a marsala mushroom sauce over pan fried risotto cake is one of my favorite entrees, when I can get past the jumbo shrimp scampi over linguine.

The have many different beef, chicken, veal, pork, seafood and lamb dishes all with intriguing sides. Their ice cream and the desserts are homemade and delicious, so do save room.

They have won many awards, including Best of Boston Magazine. Closed on Monday.

The restaurant and lounge are not wheelchair accessible.
