I've never been to a comedy club, so this was an interesting experience for me. I came here with 8 people. 6 at first, 2 trailing. The way Funny Bone works is you can purchase the tickets for the show online then they give you a receipt at the window when you come to the show. If your whole party isn't there at the time of seating, too bad. It's a first come first serve type of seating joint.
They sat the 6 of us at a table of 8 and thankfully they didn't seat other random people with us, as we were waiting on 2 more people to join. You can order food and drinks throughout the whole performance, which is nice. I went through about 5 Newcastles, a chicken tender basket, mozzarella sticks, and a shrimp basket. The shrimp isn't like popcorn shrimp. The tenders were good and served with this weird...sweet chili sauce and ranch. There was no marinara for the mozzarella sticks which was weird.
The bill for all those things = 65 dollars plus an 8 dollar gratuity charge. Not too bad. Mitch Fatel was hilarious and so was Big Al Goodwin.
I am sooo unimpressed with how my group and I were treated last night by the staff that I just had to update my review. We came in together, Â we gave them our tickets and they usually ask do you mind sitting next to the stage. They didn't ask us this time and when went to get seated and they wanted to seat us right next to the stage.
We didn't feel comfortable sitting so close so we asked to be seated somewhere else. They said we would have to leave and get all the way to the end of the line. We were like, "Really??!!"... they were serious!
So we went to go out the door that leads to the counter to get back in line and they said, "Oh no, you can't use this door, you can't cut in line, so you have to use the other door." But there was no one in line!!!!
But like obedient little sheep we followed the rules and went around. I felt like they were treating us like little kindergarteners that were in trouble.
Then they attempted to seat us in almost the same table and wanted to split us up - 3 in one table and 2 in the other. We were like, "Why can't we sit together??" So after some protesting they finally sat us at a table for 8. As usual the food and drinks were over-priced. $35 for one Margarita, a Sprite and Potato Skins.
At least the comedians were funny, but the staff needs some intensive lessons in customer service.
I am glad the Funny Bone finally made all their shows non-smoking.
I've been here several times with friends over the years. Â I've seen Kevin Hart, Dustin Diamond, Rob Schneider and more.... I've always had a great time.
They serve food - appetizers, desserts and main courses here that are pretty good. Â You can also get a take home glass that says funny bone on it if you buy an alcoholic drink or two. Â Recently I got one for $2 with water... which was nice because I like the glasses but I don't drink alcohol.
The seating area isn't very large but they do have an upper VIP area that can be rented out for large parties and such. Â They cram people in to the main seating area and you are VERY nearby to your neighbors... it's the one thing I hate but it's not a deal breaker.
The location is very nearby to Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, Cold Stone, Red Star, California Pizza Kitchen, Ruth's Chris, etc. so there is plenty of food and parking nearby and stuff to keep you busy if you want to eat downtown before you see a show.
I signed up a while ago to be on the mailing list and I often get free tickets to shows and other goodies, it was well worth it.
