Volcano Restaurant

We flew in from Colorado and we were looking for a good local place to eat.  Some old friends recommended the Volcano Restaurant.  I was a little skeptical when we drove up, but my doubt was gone after ordering our family ordered the pizza and I had the lasagna.  I would highly recommend either.  It is close to the airport, so it is a good spot to hit either heading to the airport, or just arriving.

Volcano is one of those places you tend to forget about unless you happen to be driving out by the airport.  It's probably been a good 7-8 years since I have been there, but a co-worker suggested it for lunch today.

The place was full, but we were greeted warmly and seated right away.  Our server immediately took our drink order while we looked over the menu.  There is a large selection of Italian subs, salads and pastas.  The menu says that their bakery bread is delivered fresh each day.  I was originally thinking a salad - the Greek and Italian salads sounded great, but opted for the meatball sub.  The sub was huge with three very tender,  homemade meatballs.  The sauce was fresh and tasted great.  It was covered in melted mozarrella on a huge sub roll...definitely needed a fork and knife!  It was also served with a side of fries, which made for a huge meal for just $7.50.

My co-worked opted for the canneloni florentine special which came with a side salad for $7.98 (usually $12.75 according to the menu).  I didn't try it, but it looked great and she enjoyed it.

Service was great - attentive and friendly.  I will definitely make plans to go back and try one of the salads next time.

Was in town for business and just wanted a quick salad.  The Greek salad fit the bill.  The menu looked pretty good and if it wasn't already getting late I might have tackled some more hearty fare.
